    Hi Guys. Has this house sold yet? I was just down in the Keys a few weeks ago looking at real estate. I currently live in a 3800 sq ft waterfront home in California......my home is about 700k short of what this house is listed for. All I gotta say about the prices in the Keys is.....OUTRAGEOUS! Sorry, but I wouldn't pay what that tiny old house was worth just a few short years ago. I'm very surprised people are obviously willing to pay over 45-50k a year in property taxes and home/flood insurance for a 1950s 1800sq ft home that's guaranteed to flood in the near future. Crazy....Best of luck to you guys.

    So good to see you again. Beautiful home, really the epitome of what Keys living is about. Here in SoCal we have nothing like that, I really love the little Venice area, hope you make a sale. My Gawd this is really my dream home, but sadly a bit more than I want to finance at this point. Love your humor. But you said in a prior video that people don't want a waterfront home with living space on the first /ground floor due to flooding

    • @GablesOnTheGo
      @GablesOnTheGo  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So true. But some people do love ground level homes down here. It's a risk you take if you love the place you live. I personally prefer a ground level home, there are so many benefits to ground level, but you just have to weigh out the risk vs. reward ....some choose to take that risk, some do not. Flooding has and always will be a factor down here.

  • @larryTX415
    @larryTX415 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Absolutely beautiful home and location... but wow, there is zero protection against storm surge. Plus, the home is at ground level. I guess it's a risk you have to accept when buying in the keys.

    It is definitely a nice home, I just can't believe that it sold for just over 1 million in 2020 and now it's 2.5 million. I am highly doubtful that whoever buys it will be able to sell it for a profit down the road. It would be a good rental, bringing nice income. But that's what's wrong with the Keys nowadays, the rentals have killed the average person's dream of owning a home in the Keys.

      Yes real estate prices here are shocking these days. I can remember back 5 years ago when I could have purchased a three bedroom waterfront home in Marathon for $750k...but now...no way. Hindsight is 20/20 ....

    Nice video guys. However, please tell us how much will it cost to own, that is, the new taxes for the buyer, insurance , if buyer has a mortgage even if it is minimal

    • @GablesOnTheGo
      @GablesOnTheGo  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hmmm...that's an excellent idea for a video! Let us work on that. I can tell you that taxes are roughly 1% of the purchase price, insurance varies greatly property to property, but it is not unusual for insurance to be over 10K per year. Exterior maintenance also varies greatly by property but I would say it is higher down here just because of our exposure to sun, salt, water and wind.

    • @GablesOnTheGo
      @GablesOnTheGo  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are a variety of buyers in the Keys, some want to live here full time, some want a vacation home, and some want to invest their money in real estate. We don't really see investment companies coming in a scooping up a bunch of properties though.

    Dont get caught on Cay Sal Bank, unless you dont mind being arrested.
    As for living on the water, it would depend upon the location.
    Although it can be very nice, it can also be like living in a fish bowl.
    Especially if you like privacy.

    • @GablesOnTheGo
      @GablesOnTheGo  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GablesOnTheGo When you spend a fortune on a nice home on the water, it can be disappointing when there is a parade of boats going by with their loud music playing, especially on the longer holiday weekends.
      Lets go see how the rich people live seems to be a preferred method of entertainment in the keys.
      It was even worse prior to the restrictions placed on taking lobsters in the private canals.
      Drive bys gawking at you in their rented cars or bicycles are another issue.
      I know all about the boat, i had a very nice one which was one of the main reasons i moved there to begin with.
      I lived on Yacht Club island on Duck Key full time for more than 10 years.
      So i know what im talking about.
      There are much nicer water front homes in much nicer places in Florida where this isnt an issue as it is down there.

    • @GablesOnTheGo
      @GablesOnTheGo  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hard to say accurately, but I would assume several times. Like any ground level home here in the Keys, there is always that risk. Concrete homes here have been holding up for decades, this one is a good example. Good maintenance and remodeling are just necessities to live in Paradise!

Hell, we might all learn something new and I'll be selling those things like hotcakes! Thanks for watching!
