I thought about this question a lot over the past week, so here's my tables, list and chairs -and stairs- : 10) ATT/Sammy, Tay and Kaz (DoN 2022)- a mess of a match, but I kind of love it in a weird way. 9) FTR&Wardlow/MCMG and Jay Lethal (All Out 2022)- a nothing match, which is a shame given the talent here 8) Jade/Statlander (DoN 2023)- hated how this was the way Jade's TBS reign ended 7) Punk/Mox (All Out 2022)- controversial, but after the long, long night that was All Out, this was a really boring finale to me 6) Baker/Rosa (Revolution 2022)- one of the most disappointing women's matches on ppv, should've been so much more than it was 5) Baker/Swole (All Out 2020)- while I do think this deserved to be on the main show given how hot the feud was, it did end up being an anti-climax to the feud 4) Rhodes/Agogo (DoN 2021)- AMERICA! The beginning of Cody's AEW downfall 3) Jericho/Cole (DoN 2023)- this was very very boring and almost killed Cole's return 2) Casino ladder match (All Out 2022)- had an amazing ladder match lineup, and then the finish (while an angle) sucked... also Rush and Andrade took ages to get to the ring which made them, the people in the ring and the stipulation look stupid 1) Hardy/Sammy (All Out 2020)- what else do I need to say?
The ladder match irked me so much back then because while there were great spots, they were obviously stalling to climb the ladder. Like, sure, that's like, a lot of ladder matches, but this one was just so noticeable that it just took me out of the match several times
Did you go back and rewatched Punk/Mox? I feel like it’s amazing if you’re not tired after a whole PPV before it. It’s a great match. One of the best AEW PPV main events imo.
She did come to her own with a mic, but her wrestling style did not work sadly. She could not clinch together a solid match, she could be a great manager tho
I was at the ROH taping where Anthony agogo basically apologized for being ass. And then fought pat buck and did the weirdest finish I’ve ever seen and I thought “man. He’s still gunna suck.” Honestly think he’d do so well in WWE
Yeah, #1 was probably the first time I was legitimately upset with AEW's decisions. That match should not have continued in any way and I know Reby was also legitimately upset with AEW and Matt for it. It was such a stupid and dangerous spot and it's fortunate that Matt didn't have a lasting injury from it.
Jade vs. Athena annoyed me. Dragging that feud out for months just to end it like THAT!! 🤦♂️ Matt vs. Sammy should not have continued. Bad move AEW, so irresponsible.
That wasn't a bad match, it was a squash and the meet and greet no show and plane ticket didn't play into the match besides mjf referencing it on his entrance But if u didn't know the news, u wouldn't have noticed anything unusual abt the match
who came out of this match looking better? feels like it was an angle and not worth it, only thing it feels known for is the plane situation@@reubenelite
@duncandoesthings9321 umm wardlow came out of this match more over than ever Even mjf got more over than before which u can see by his entrance the next night So everyone came out of this match looking better Ppl like us who knew the story will say the plane ticket and no show ruined wardlow's moment but it really didn't
HI guys, I love all the content, especially videos like this. Love to listen to this on the ride to work or just on the road. Anyway, next time, could you say the matches two after you show your card so I don't have to look at my phone going 80 on the highway to see the matches you picked. Regardless, I've been watching for many, many years. I love everything. Thank you all
I really like this format but i really wish you said the matches everyone picked, sometimes the whiteboards/ match graphics are hard to meke out on the phone screen
It wasn't covered at the end, but the point totals for the worst PPV matches in AEW history are as follows: In Third Place, with a total of 23 points: Adam Cole vs. Chris Jericho in an Unsanctioned Match from Double or Nothing 2023 where Sabu served as the Special Guest Enforcer. In Second Place, with a total of 24 points: Anthony Ogogo vs. Cody Rhodes from Double or Nothing 2021. And in First Place with a perfect (or in this case, imperfect) score of 30 points: Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara in a Broken Rules Match from All Out 2020.
Number 1 genuinely almost scared off my GF from wrestling entirely. She knew I was a fan but never watched WWE because of Vince, the Saudi Arabia deal, and especially how she felt they disregarded wrestlers' health (namely the Owen incident). I convinced her to give AEW a shot with that show and stressed how they did care for their wrestlers and she was enjoying it...and then that match happened. She still watches AEW now, but she has brought up how uneasy that match made her
@@northleedspoppa A. Please read, I was mentioning my GF. I was not attacking your precious WWE B. Whataboutism is a sign of a shaky argument. C. Please provide actual receipts to them propping up Modi instead of just channeling Cornette/whoever talking points. D. Now is definitely not the time to go "What about" in regards to wrestlers health when the E has brought back Nia Jax, is using Xia Lee's real life NXT history as an angle to get her kick over now, and didn't stop or pull wrestlers aside in fairly recent matches where someone got hurt (Braun Strowman and Ricochet say hello). Accidents and injuries happen anywhere and for any reason (I.e. Kevin Nash tore his quad by simply WALKING). Carry that same energy for every company (is Stardom overworking their wrestlers, does NJPW allow too many headshots, does NXT overtrain wrestlers from the sheer amount who were reported injured just from training outside the ring in the PC, etc). E. Have a nice day 👍
@@northleedspoppa Don't know how calmly responding to your attack was being "hysterical" or thinking AEW shouldn't be questioned but I guess I shouldn't expect less from a troll. Also, there are currently more wrestlers on the injured list in WWE than AEW. And no, whataboutism is an accepted term for the particular type of logical fallacy you threw at someone who was merely talking about how someone they know perceived a bad match in a company. Once again, have a nice day 👍
Says something that these matches are either short, gimmick, or no DQ stipulation matches. Like no major titles, no main events (though Pete having the exploding Barbed Wire deathmatch at 11 is closest to it). Really speaks to AEW’s match quality. There’s a huge disparity between the best and worst.
12:56 failing to turn Cody Rhodes heel, lean hard into him acting like Homelander and using the excuse “Cody” can’t challenge for the AEW title but “Cody Rhodes” can was their biggest mistake. Cody should have been the 3rd AEW champion & soaked up the heel heat.
I wish the name of each persons entry was read out loud, before the explanation. Basically because I often have to just listen with the screen off, due to sensory issues I suffer from. So for accessibility this would be great for content like this. And yes, I'm a wrestling fan that sadly can't always watch the wrestling these days due to my health but hence why I love this channel so much, as I can keep up with things, especially if I've not been able to watch the shows but also for awesome content like this. Love all you guys and love the channel!
I'm glad they didn't include Moxley vs Omega (Revolution 2021). It was an overall great, brutal & bloody match that was sadly killed by a botched post-match angle.
Fair And it’s helped that unlike most of these listed matches: that one had actual follow up and good follow up at that Kenny, Jon, Don, and Eddie worked their butts off in those promos to cover for that finish And I will DIE on my hill that they pulled it off perfectly Which is more them could be said for Stark vs Hobbs or Seth vs Fiend at HiaC
Would appreciate the matches actually written out in text above/below the cards. Right now its hard to read either the small card, or the whiteboards sometimes written badly and at an angle
1. Guevara vs Hardy - All Out 2020 2. Baker vs. Swole - All Out 2020 3. Anarly in the Arena I - Double or Nothing 2022 4. Cole vs. Jericho - Double or Nothing 2023 5. Darby & Sting vs. Starks & Cage - Revolution 2021 6. Wardlow vs. MJF - Double or Nothing 2022 7. Young Bucks vs. Santana & Ortiz - Full Gear 2019 8. Cody vs. Anthony Ogogo - Double or Nothing 2021 9. Knew #1 was coming a mile away. And once again, the final Top 11 Borda Count has a couple single-vote winners at the bottom: 1) Matt Hardy vs. Sammy (Broken Rules) (30 pts) 2) Cody vs. Ogogo (24) 3) Cole vs. Jericho (w/ Sabu) (23) 4) Dustin vs. Spears (22) 5) Starks vs. Hobbs (17) 6) Wight vs. QT (13) 7) Swole vs. Baker (Tooth & Nail) (9) 7) Sammy/Kaz/Tay vs. Top Team/Paige (9) 9) Anna Jay vs. Cargill (5) 10) Athena vs. Cargill (4) 10) Casino Ladder Match (All Out '22) (4) Got a video I'm putting together with an analysis of all these lists I've compiled soon.
Gonna shout out Michael Nakazawa vs. Alex Jebailey from the pre-show of FyterFest 2019, an absolutely horrendous match that I still hold a lot of affection for. It's from those early pre-Dynamite days when AEW still had one foot in the indies and the EVPs still controlled a lot of the creative process. It's a bizarre freak show that would absolutely not have happened in any other promotion at any other time. Thing is...there's a REASON for that. Dedicating nearly 10 minutes to a match between a comedy wrestler and a fighting game tournament organizer with no previous wrestling experience was...certainly a choice.
With hindsight and middle of the night ideas, to retcon book the Devil Casino Ladder Match, have it on a weekly show before the PPV, still without revealing the Devil, maybe get an interview segment with Stokely asking who it is and get The Firm intro, then there is still the mystery of the Devil throughout the show, and Athena v Jade can get more than 4 f'n minutes!
Honestly very weird that everyone except for Eyhan Page landed on their feet after the firm lol. Lee Moriarty is great with Shane Taylor, the Gunns in BCG are phenomenal and Big Bill is up there for tag team wrestler of the year imo between his teams with Ricky Starks and Brian Cage
As Brian Zane also rightfully pointed out during their 'Where Did Cody Rhodes Go Wrong in AEW?' vid, "the promo tried to build America up as the 'land of opportunity and freedom and harmony', less than a year after it had just gone through a very elongated period of civil rights protests, the country was still trying to heal from that and Cody was all like "all this arguing is what makes America great" Just the idea of doing an America = Good, (Overseas Country) = Bad during the tumultous year of COVID, the Black Lives Matter movement *AND* one of it's worst presidencies (which exacerbated said issues) is just SO tonedeaf
Paul Wight VS QT Marshall On an otherwise perfect card, you have this boring, waste of time nothing match on the show. I don’t know what kinda deal PAUL and QT have with TK, but I can’t think of a reason why these two had to have a PPV MATCH ON ALL OUT!!!
Her weakness is a limited and fairly slow moveset, and that can be fixed. A lot of the reason she cooled off so much was Statlander getting hurt and (this is a recurring theme with AEW) there being no pivot to let someone else beat her. So she stayed on her own island for a bit too long.
The whiteboards are basically unreadable with the glare of lights. Maybe work on a little editing so people can actually read and understand what you’re all talking about. And why is a guy wearing a mask?
"If you're going to build a star, build a star. Don't just build someone for Cody to beat" Oh, you mean like how WWE has done for Roman Reigns to beat for almost 4 damn years now?
A lot of these matches I agree with I never was on board with ogogo vs Cody, hated how short Athena vs jade was, totally forgot bout qt Marshall match, even with injury related I laughed how short Toni vs Jamie was I remember being so confused with Sammy vs Hardy….its a shame swole vs dmd and hardy vs sammy we’re both on the same ppv kindof left me with a sour taste for that ppv as a whole n feel like the ppv suffered from those matches as well took the crowd out of it for rosa vs shida
Did Luke say a match was on an AEW PPV to kill time? Its an AEW PPV. They have double digit matches. They don't need more added to kill time. They need some removed to save time.
Its crazy that the cinematic matches get dunked on a bit for being tied to the pandemic cause Matt made three (started the trend?) of em before they left for WWE. (Final Deletion, Delete or Decay and whatever the super tag team one was)
I've been out of the wrestling loop for a few decades now, so I'm sure these were worse... But the very first PPV I watched was Wrestledream 2023 and I gotta say, the first match of MJF vs The Righteous damned near got me to give up on wrestling all over again. Just lazy wrestling by the Righteous and personally just a horrible way to start watching wrestling again 😢
To be fair to that match, it had to be changed in like a 2 week span because Adam Cole got injured on dynamite. The build had the Righteous mainly play on stirring shit between Max and Adam so with one of the participants no longer present the drama between MJF and Cole that should've been the core of the match was now gone
My only real nitpick about when you guys do these types of videos is it's not the best for hard of vision. It's kind of hard because a lot of times you guys go "he, she, they, them" a lot of the times and don't say names of people or events. So a lot of times I have to not know what's going on because of it. If I could make one suggestion, it's just mentioning names more often. Love the content, keep up the great work.
Both surprised and relieved the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch wasn’t on there. I’m surprised because it was so hated on and everyone gave them hell for it. But relieved because it was actually a damn good match!! It was fantastic up until the end! The ending wasn’t their fault but sadly killed what was a great match between two amazing performers!
This is one of those lists that gets less interesting as it goes along, just because everyone knows what the absolute worsts are. It’s how they start the lists that’s interesting.
Wrestletalk on best wwe lists: find ways to be negative about wwe and talk about the bad stuff Wrestletalk on worst aew list: look for every excuse about why the matches were bad
What ithink happened with Statlander and Jade. AEW knew she wasnt going to resign, so they squashed her ass. I also think that she thinks she a big star, with no talent. Its a good chance that she doesn't have a match until royal rumble or WM either ofwhich will be awful matchs where someone gets hurt.
When it comes to in ring stuff having an aew worst matches feels wrong but then I remember there's a women's division that no one cares to do anything with
Can you guys start saying what match you guys are talking about? For people who are mainly just listening it’s hard to figure out what you guys are talking about without the context of what the match was.
I think early days cinematic pandemic matches were good (still love the Boneyard, Firefly Funhouse and Stadium Stampede 1) but some of the later stuff is a bit naff
For someone who tries to listen to video as opposed to watching due to poor eye sight may I make a suggestion that you announce the entries as you take turns explaining your reasoning as I can't read the boards
i would LOVE to see a “Best Pandemic Era Matches” TLC video. maybe even include AEW & WWE in the listing too
Same here
Might as well split it into two videos, if you do both it’ll be like 80% AEW
YES GREAT IDEA
AGREE!
Jon Moxley vs Darby. One of the best single episode storylines and matches in Dynamite history and no one talks about it.

I thought about this question a lot over the past week, so here's my tables, list and chairs -and stairs- :
10) ATT/Sammy, Tay and Kaz (DoN 2022)- a mess of a match, but I kind of love it in a weird way.
9) FTR&Wardlow/MCMG and Jay Lethal (All Out 2022)- a nothing match, which is a shame given the talent here
8) Jade/Statlander (DoN 2023)- hated how this was the way Jade's TBS reign ended
7) Punk/Mox (All Out 2022)- controversial, but after the long, long night that was All Out, this was a really boring finale to me
6) Baker/Rosa (Revolution 2022)- one of the most disappointing women's matches on ppv, should've been so much more than it was
5) Baker/Swole (All Out 2020)- while I do think this deserved to be on the main show given how hot the feud was, it did end up being an anti-climax to the feud
4) Rhodes/Agogo (DoN 2021)- AMERICA! The beginning of Cody's AEW downfall
3) Jericho/Cole (DoN 2023)- this was very very boring and almost killed Cole's return
2) Casino ladder match (All Out 2022)- had an amazing ladder match lineup, and then the finish (while an angle) sucked... also Rush and Andrade took ages to get to the ring which made them, the people in the ring and the stipulation look stupid
1) Hardy/Sammy (All Out 2020)- what else do I need to say?

Self indulgent was Cody’s entire AEW run.
Two picks in and I can tell Dan Layton is crying about the choices
There is so many more worst matches in aew ppc history. But that is just my option.
Even though the match wasn’t as bad as everything that surrounded it, I’m surprised I didn’t see the Barbed Wire Exploding Death Match on any list.

The Cesaro ladder match is my #1. That soured me on the entire PPV. (It was obviously MJF by his gait and size and that stable sucked).
Jericho vs Adam Cole comes to mind immediately
I mean number 1 was the only option when it comes down to THE worst
As Brian Zane also rightfully pointed out during their 'Where Did Cody Rhodes Go Wrong in AEW?' vid,
"the promo tried to build America up as the 'land of opportunity and freedom and harmony', less than a year after it had just gone through a very elongated period of civil rights
protests, the country was still trying to heal from that and Cody was all like "all this arguing is what makes America great"
Just the idea of doing an America = Good, (Overseas Country) = Bad during the tumultous year of COVID, the Black Lives Matter movement *AND* one of it's worst presidencies (which exacerbated said issues) is just SO tonedeaf
But in fairness, it did give us the "Cody Solves Racism" meme.
Paul Wight VS QT Marshall
On an otherwise perfect card, you have this boring, waste of time nothing match on the show. I don’t know what kinda deal PAUL and QT have with TK, but I can’t think of a reason why these two had to have a PPV MATCH ON ALL OUT!!!
Boy the amount of Jade cardgill matches on this list does not make me helpful for her WWE run.
I agree with EVERYTHING Luke said about number 1. AEW should be ashamed of themselves for that match.
"If you're going to build a star, build a star. Don't just build someone for Cody to beat"
Oh, you mean like how WWE has done for Roman Reigns to beat for almost 4 damn years now?
Huh they actually did it. Egg on my face.
Best Cinematic Matches sometime please.
Disagree block in the bank. Had one of the most iconic spots that Finn took from Andrade I remember because the fans yelled.Yaoi wowie after it LO.L
Hangman page Vs Mox "Texas death" is hands down one of the worst things I've ever seen.
(Final Deletion, Delete or Decay and whatever the super tag team one was)
How about Top 10 Best/Worst tag teams, Best/Worst factions or Best/Worst storylines of all time for future lists?
Hopefully the rest of the card brought you back because yeah that match was ass but the rest of that PPV was amazing
Team 10 vs Kazarian, Sammy and Tai was really fun i thought.
Have you ever tried to punch America in the gut? Lmao If you aim a punch anywhere near America, you are gonna hit gut.
How does the barb wire exploding death math from revolution 2021 between Moxley and Omega not make ANYONE'S list !? 😂
Because the match itself is good from bell to bell, but the ending is hilariously awful
The match is pretty good bel to bell, but the aftermath is bollocks (funny bollocks mind you)
I'm shocked that you guys didn't put omega vs moxley in the barbwire death match
The match is great. The effects sucked
Excuse me mask man? You bite your tongue! Gargano vs Cole 2 out of 3 falls was great....way too fucking long but great.
Probably why he doesn't like it. It's way too long
This is one of those lists that gets less interesting as it goes along, just because everyone knows what the absolute worsts are. It’s how they start the lists that’s interesting.
Yeah i mean same way that with the best matches it was obvious Young Bucks vs Hangman&Kenny was gonna be #1
Watching this video and knowing what’s about to happen on Rampage this week is such irony 😬
Wrestletalk on best wwe lists: find ways to be negative about wwe and talk about the bad stuff
Wrestletalk on worst aew list: look for every excuse about why the matches were bad
What?
Can’t believe y’all didn’t do best and worst finishers yet for both AEW and WWE
Im surprised the exploding deathmatch was nowhere to be seen
What ithink happened with Statlander and Jade. AEW knew she wasnt going to resign, so they squashed her ass. I also think that she thinks she a big star, with no talent. Its a good chance that she doesn't have a match until royal rumble or WM either ofwhich will be awful matchs where someone gets hurt.
Can you please start saying the matches out loud? I like to listen to Wrestle Talk while I work and I can't actually watch the video while I'm working
Let’s not pretend that Aubrey tried to stop that match. She did little to nothing to stop it from continuing.
Jade vs Athena will always upset me😂😂😂and why did they move on from it sooo fast! I feel like they drop women’s storylines sooo fast.
Ahhhhhh the News ☕️ ♥️
Matt hardy v Sammy carrying on was simply a disgrace
When it comes to in ring stuff having an aew worst matches feels wrong but then I remember there's a women's division that no one cares to do anything with
Anarchy in the Arena is by far the worst thing AEW has ever done.
Tempest not wearing a Buffalo Bills shirt throws his Canadian Card into question. Nobody in Canada likes the Packers
All out 2020 pissed my off 2 bad matches are enough and they even had more
Can you guys start saying what match you guys are talking about?
For people who are mainly just listening it’s hard to figure out what you guys are talking about without the context of what the match was.
Man, y'all make nothing but excuses for this company except for the top entry lol
Not true
Does anyone think that if MJF unmasked on the ladder and flipped off the crowd it would be looked upon more favorably?
CM Punk to WWE confirmed!
My 1 through 10, every PPV match that has CM Punk in it
Really need black borads with white or colored markers, So we can actually see what's on them.
Damn I liked the dentist match guys I thought it was fun but I guess I liked more cinematic matches in general
I think early days cinematic pandemic matches were good (still love the Boneyard, Firefly Funhouse and Stadium Stampede 1) but some of the later stuff is a bit naff
Since Cody left AEW i forgot why i started to dislike him so much in AEW at the end and then you droped Homelander Cody and i started to snort laugh.
Predicting Sammy vs Matt as #1
Yeah.
Anyone else feel like the energy is down in this video compared to the other videos? It's like they don't want to be too critical of AEW.
Day Two Petition : TLC video for 10 best matches in 2023....
For someone who tries to listen to video as opposed to watching due to poor eye sight may I make a suggestion that you announce the entries as you take turns explaining your reasoning as I can't read the boards
