This song always brings tears to my eyes. I am a 70 year old man, and that was my prayer 6 years ago when my wife, and my love and partner in life, died. She was my second wife, but my only true love. We had 20 wonderful years together, and she made me a much better man. I love her and miss her so much.

This song perfectly depicts how perceptions often change over time. The line "don't take the girl" doesn't change, but its' meaning and the motivation behind it does. Keep rockin' and stay heavy! Wishing everyone peace, love, and good happiness stuff from the mountains of northeastern Alabama 🤘

One of those songs that weigh heavy on your heart. I don’t know if anyone has suggested this one in the past. I go back to AM radio and hearing this one by Bobby Goldsboro. I recall it being a gray overcast rainy day when I first heard this song as I got ready to go out to the bus stop for school. The song was called Honey.

I just wanted to tell you that in the video, the doctor says she won’t make it but he falls to his knees and pleads with God to take him instead but at the very end you see a woman with them taking the sun fishing. She makes it because he prayed to God to let her stay. It’s about how love is the strongest power in the world.

I remember making people who didn't listen to country listen to this song. They all swore it had some kind of song 'magic' that made you cry. May be some truth to that, but I believe it's just good storytelling. You got to know the couple and now you don't know if she died or not....the song before the video was more impactful but the video made us speculate . There was a woman running at the end, was that her?!?! LOL fun memories.
