My wife had complications during birth with our daughter. My daughter was delivered safely but my wife was rushed off to surgery. I remember sitting there with our little girl and being so terrified that I would never see my wife again. It was the scariest moment of my life. And trust me, coming from an Afghanistan and Iraq Vet, that is saying something. But my wife and daughter are still here and I am so happy to have my family by my side.
A man can face the gates of hell and look into the eyes of an army of demons and stand tall. But something like will bring us to our knees in a heartbeat. I'm glad everything worked out.
This song came out in 1995. I was pregnant with my son when it came out and I was high risk. I was told if I gave birth I could loose my life doing it. When it came out my husband just cried and prayed he would have both of us when he was born. I am here and our son is 26 yrs.old... God is good.
I used to work with a guy back in the 90's who was a huge Tim McGraw fan. He won a radio contest to meet him backstage after a show in Charlotte NC. He said he had a bunch of questions he wanted to ask. And when he met him he was so star struck all he could say was. Don't take the girl.
End of the video you see the Mom with the family fishing.. And its also indicated by the song's lyrics that each verse there's a plea to not take the girl.. but it always moves to a future where she's there.. so assume from lyrics that she survived.. it's a wonderful song.
The irony of this song is at the very beginning he didn't want her to go fishing....then ends up asking God to take him instead. I love how thot story progresses! Great song!!
as the story goes, when i was a young boy, girls were yucky, and boys didn't want them around, the story tells how much we change our minds when we fall in love, one of my favorite songs!
I was in middle and high school during the 90's (graduated high school in 1996) and Tim was one of the singers me and my high school BFF adored. I remembered the first time we saw this video we cried. I really miss the days when MTV and CMT actually played music videos.
You took the words right out of my mouth on the time frame and everything Graduate and 96 myself as well and tears still come to Eyes when I hear this song To this day
Great reaction. Another great Tim McGraw is humble and kind. He has lots of great songs. Also check out Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss ‘Whiskey lullaby’ Soooooo many great country songs with great messages.
My mom met him working security at a movie backlot. She said he was a great guy and never acted like he was better then any of the regular staff just because he was a star.
I've watched this video hundreds of times , and it still gets to me with tears. So glad this generation of young people listen to this kind of content. Real talent, no autotune or fake singing. Love your channel and your honest reactions
Great reaction guys. This is one of my all time favorite songs. Regardless of genre. Like you said. It's so powerful and if you listen to it on the radio before seeing the video. It leaves you thinking the girl dies. Whereas the video shows her running to the man and the son.
My first child was a daughter and this song was popular as she was cooking in the womb. The night she was born all I heard was its a little girl then they started calling codes and rushed her out the room in a bassinet saying something about ambulance to another hospital 30 miles away. I did the same thing, I ran outside and prayed harder then I ever had telling God if he needed a soul take mine, strike me down but don't hurt my little girl. Everything turned out fine but that song is especially important to me because of that night.
I’ve listened to this song a 100 times and I always put myself in his shoes. I’d struggle to go on without my wife. And I always tear up listening to this.
One of Tim Mcgraw's songs that doesn't get enough attention in my opinion is My Best Friend. It is an amazing song that was the song my husband and I had for each other.
This song will always be one of the greats.. A song no one ever does reactions to is " love me". It's so good it's kinda like this one but man it hits the heart
This one of my favorite songs of tim McGraw. Great reaction @Asiaandb‼️ love me some Tim McGraw I had a big crush on him when I was younger and love his voice
Asia and BJ… Tim had many songs that tug at the heart strings! Live Like You Were Dying It’s Your Love Grown Men Don’t Cry Like We Never Loved at All Angry All the Time
The song itself leaves it open, you don't know if she lives, but in video you see her running up to Johnny and Dad on last line of song. Please do more Tim, his duets with wife Faith Hill are sooo romantic, and his song with Nelly- Over and Over again. Awesome reaction guys.
The first time I heard this song, so many years ago, my neighbor had a son and we had just found out that his wife died during childbirth. I was driving and listening to the song and had to pull over to control my sobbing before continuing the trip. The song still kills me. I loved watching your reactions
I suggest McGraw's "Can't be Really Gone." It is slightly mysterious so you may wish to listen more than once but it is beautiful and heartfelt and McGraw performed it with great emotion. I also suggest another great yet bittersweet song of love and devotion performed by the underrated female vocalist Kathy Mattea. It is entitled "Where have You Been." These songs are not just sad but tell a story with a moral. The moral here is that men should ideally love, honor and protect their respective wives and families. It is an honorable ideal to which boys should aspire. That is the true reasoning behind these story songs. I'm happy to see y'all listening, enjoying and learning about the music and also, you may have been unaware, learning about life too.
DH and I attended so many military balls and after this song debuted it was played every year. By the end of the song almost every female was in tears (good thing we had our guys - great slow dance!).
Tim McGraw told a story when he released this song...that as he was listening to demos for his new album, he heard this song, and had tears running down his face as he listened and knew he wanted to release it
I remember so many people loving this song and they still do! Great reaction!! Definitely do some more Tim McGraw songs because he has some good ones😁✌
Grew up watching my uncle Chad ride Rodeo at Kickers Corner outside of San Antonio and love all these old country songs, it's great to see different people's reactions to different genres of music.
This was released in 1994 as the second single to McGraw’s second album (and if anything his most popular album) “Not A Moment Too Soon”. The song was released as a single a week right after the album was released. The song became his first No. 1 on the Billboard country charts.
I remember hearing this song as a kid and it was the 1st song that ever made me cry. Just popped up in my youtube randomly i totally forgot about it so i had to watch some reactions. Well done❤
Great Reaction. Country music loves to occasionally give you a good Lyric Musical Motif. Other examples- Kenny Chesney”s “there goes my life” or “The Good Stuff”. Even “Ol’ red” uses a lyric musical motif with the line “Ol’ Red’s itching to have a little fun”
This song has such a powerful message. Thanks for doing this one. My other favorite songs from the great Tim McGraw are When She Wakes Up, One of These Days, Just To See You Smile, Can’t Be Really Gone, I Do But I Don’t, Angry All the Time, Grown Men Don’t Cry, Back When, My Little Girl, Everywhere, You Had To Be There, and If You’re Reading This.
at the end he sings Johnny's daddy was taking him fishing at 8 years old (Johnny is the baby grown up to 8 years Old) and the very last shot is his mother catching up to them carrying the picnic basket (Alive)
Yeah, there is always a lot of discussion on this song as to what happened at the end. The song leaves it wide open but in the video, at least to me anyway, it is clearly indicating that she survived. The Mom is shown running toward the father and son with a picnic basket. Some people try to say she is an angel but there is no logic reason an angel would be carrying a picnic basket. So at least from the videographer's perspective, she lived.
This is my favorite Tim McGraw song...been ripping out my heart since it came out when I was in college. But he has a great selection of hits...try "Something Like That" just off the top of my head.
I watched this video a couple of times before I learned in the comments that the last scenes in the video are of Johnny fishing with his little boy and "the girl" is running to join them. Answered prayers.
CRYING FOR ME (Waymans song) Tobey Keith. th-cam.com/video/AHZCAcSh7ls/w-d-xo.html A beautiful song for his friend and musician Wayman Tisdale who passed away. Another great song is Vince Gill -Go rest high on that mountain th-cam.com/video/6jXrmAKBBTU/w-d-xo.html He wrote it for his brother who died.
He's an all time favorite. "I like it, I love it" is another song you'll dig and have likely heard the chorus of. 'Cause it's catchy. Love how this chorus is used 3 different ways. First it's like, please don't take her fishin', then it's please don't take her, thief. Then it's please God, don't take her away. Tim is an incredible talent! Even Nelly would agree. haha. They even had a collab.
I loved ur react 2 this. I still get teary eyed every time I hear it. I'm sure my mother probably felt or said that when I was having my daughter. My father passed away when I was about 4-5 mths pregnant then my mom moved back up 2 MA while I stayed in Fl. Everything was fine during labor/delivery, I had complications & hemorrhaged, they tried different things but couldn't get it 2 stop so they prepped me 4 an emergency hysterectomy. Needless 2 day both my mom & my daughter's father were scared, thankfully they were able 2 stop the bleeding. I found out many yrs later that I have a blessing disorder that I have 2 take meds 4, so when I had my son my hematologist already had the order in my file this way I wouldn't run in2 same problem.
This is Tim McGraw's first hit and this is how Faith Hill fell in love with him over this song and this the first time ever heard of this guy when this song came out why the hit why the guy water family and what a great father to three girls
My wife had complications during birth with our daughter. My daughter was delivered safely but my wife was rushed off to surgery. That's amazing and I'm glad she made it out okay ♥♥♥♥♥

Actually THIS song came out in 1994 right before I was born now I about to be 30 THIS song put a tears in my eyes😢❤ I love this song

The video allows you to know that she survived the song leaves it open ended…
The Johnny at the end is Jr. He's going fishing with mom & dad.
the girl at the end was not the mother,, brown hair not blonde
@@MRFLESHSTORM yes it’s the mom…maybe hair dye…
@@xvxv711 taller and thinner face also different. but you continue to believe in happy endings.
Love that they show Mom at the very end of the video. Such a powerful story. Love Tim.
The irony of this song is at the very beginning he didn't want her to go fishing....then ends up asking God to take him instead. I love how thot story progresses! Great song!!
it actually is great, poetic songwriting.
I like the part where it reminds me I need to take my boy fishing.
as the story goes, when i was a young boy, girls were yucky, and boys didn't want them around, the story tells how much we change our minds when we fall in love, one of my favorite songs!
This is one of the most loving selfless songs ever. I love Tim!
This song always makes me think of the song love me. Omg great song as well.

“The girl” is there. At the end of the video, she runs towards Johnny holding a picnic basket
as a 31 year old texan, I still cannot listen to this song without shedding a tear.
Same 😢

I was a widower in my early 40s. And I've had those conversations in my prayers. This song is very deep. It hurts but is so true.
I love this song so much. 😭❤

I only know this song because I had high school friends who were into country in the mid 90s. The Box by Randy Travis is another heartstring puller.
Welll.... Now I'm crying. Watching Asias face 😢
