    I have a 2013 Sportster 72. I plan to change exaughst, air cleaner & install a FI controller. I just haven't decided if I should buy the cheaper V&H fuel pac,( which states on your web site not for my bike) or the more exspensive Cobra Fi200 powr pro w/cvt. Also since the bike comes from HD with narrow band o2 sensors would it be advisable to switch out for wide band o2 sensors?

    Could anyone tell me what I would need for a 04 victory touring cruiser. New injectors. New spark plugs brand new tank lining. Replaced the socks on the fuel pump, and I’m still having backfiring, loss of power at 1500 rpm or more. Hardly any forward power, and loss of power while in gear. Random stalling. Mechanics I work with suggested a fuel controller but I want to make sure this is the best thing for the bike. Or if these symptoms may be related to something else.

    I have a 07 gsxr 1000 with stock gearing, kn air filter and jardine jp1 slip on exhaust. I currently have a cobra fi 2000 and had it dynoed in and im still not happy with it. You think i should get a power comander 5 or just leave it stock? Im a street rider and love to ride curves. Is the pc5 worth it?

  • @jpcycles

    Yes the V&H tuner should solve the issues, any tuner will work. It sounds like you have a lean condition and the V&H tuner should be easy to do on your own and will be much more affordable than the SE.

    Been riding since 1967. (Always carbureted!) Just got a California model 2021 KLX300SM. I know nothing about FI. My feeling is that its stock leanness and maybe its Timing is limiting its performance. Would JUST an FI Controller make the engine run 'happier'? As in more 'willing' to perform to its stock DESIGN potential? Not looking for more HP but a less restricted feeling. Also considering a slip on pipe with baffle to keep it reasonably quiet. Not looking for big HP gains. Looking maybe for a tiny bit more midrange, torque and 'willingness' to run as designed. I like it now. Just think it is running with a stick up its butt! lol Perhaps a not too noisy Pipe, More AIR to the engine (Snorkle off of air box) AND a FI controller to tune the fuel mixture to the 'Bullseye' 'Proper' zone is what is called for???? This is a GOOD bike! Doesn't need Hopping Up. Just needs to be set up to run FREELY to its Design Potential. Your video really helped me START to understand the new Non Carbureted Lifestyle. :D Thanks!

    Hi all my name is jason from Victoria australia I need a little help with my 98 fuel injected road king . The bike idles crazy with rev fluctuating when cold and hot . Also at about 100 mph or 60 mph the bike seems to break down almost like a cyclender break down and it just clears it self up . This is reapeated constantly and get worse with a passenger. I would some advice from any one that has experienced this or understands Harleys. Cheers ja

    Any ideas??? My 07 Busa won't go past 7000rpm. Fuel leans out... After $500 spent on dyno, the mechanic couldn't figure out the problem. He made adjustments to PC3 and nothing changed. He uninstalled the PC3 and still the same problem...All 4 plugs look like they are burning the same. Engine does run hot.. Again, any ideas??

      Tom Braaten could be a fuel pressure issue.

      I had light rust in tank that partially clogged the tiny fuel screen on inlet to the in-tank injection pump, which led to fuel starvation at higher RPM's / higher throttle openings. Red Kote treatment for the tank and a new filter fixed my issue.

  • @0Sirk0

    can someone explain to me why less fuel would make then engine hotter?
    I'm perplexed.

    • @MrCboggs
      @MrCboggs 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The ratio between the fuel and oxygen control the burn temperature.
      Just like a shop torch, .. more oxygen lets the mixture burn at a hotter rate.
      It takes oxygen to have fire, ..

    • @ylism
      @ylism 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      0Sirk0 To add to what's been said, a leaner burning motor will also have pre-ignition, or spark knock caused by an unstable ignition at the wrong time as a side effect.
      Causes are from hot spots & leanness of air to fuel ratios within the combustion chamber, this can cause the piston to be burned, or melt a hole in it & damage the rings also.
      To stop this overly lean condition there are different ways these units help control it, one is to lessen the advance curve of the ignition to slow it down, this also lower power being made, the ECU mapping does this, but the stock maps have their limits,.
      These products help add fuel to richen the incoming fuel charge together to keep the timing right and power up, without harm to the motor, thats the reason for these items, they also help the cylinder temps to stay at a constant temp so not to go into an unstable mode.
      It's mostly needed to have these devices when the air ratio to fuel is changed beyond the stock ECU ability to cope, like less restrictive race type air filters & exhaust systems are added together, or other non stock items like cams, also taller gearing can add a strain on the motor, the more away from stock parts the greater the need of helps in this area.
      Not to forget, the cooling system is vital part to keep it all in a proper working order, also the charging system for proper ignition, the more power a motor makes the more cooling capacity is needs.

  • @greenmarine5
    @greenmarine5 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    exactly, For me I go with the cheapest version, they all have the exact same CPU to control the fuel air mixture. Why they cost so much is beyond me. If you were to take out the CPU of a power commander and use it as a Home PC it wouldn't even have the capabilities to send an email. That's how basic these CPU's are that control a fuel/air mixture. They might be able to run a calculator....MAYBE..

    Are motorcycle manufacturers using direct injection?

    • @jpcycles
      @jpcycles  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes. Stock FI mapping leaves a lot to be desired. A fuel injection controller can really wake your bike up and make it more efficient.

      Do these bikes get really bad carbon buildup on the intake valves, like the cars, since they are direct injection and not port?

    • @jpcycles
      @jpcycles  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@q-bert6454 yes, but I think the carbon build up is probably related to poor tuning that poor design.

  • @gary95329
    @gary95329 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I wouldn't dare put one of these on my bike without an exhaust gas or cylinder head temperature reading available. I'm a pilot and in prop planes you have direct control of your mixture. This is because you may take off at sea level, but climb to 10k feet and then at altitude you must lean your mixture. The way you lean is to watch cylinder head temps, which will indicate a sharp rise when you are too lean. With these gadgets you have no idea what kind of temps you are getting for a given setting.

    • @phoenix1925
      @phoenix1925 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      so you're saying that airplanes dont adjust the mix automaticaly. You,the pilot, have to adjust it manualy...that's the worst lie I've ever heard...also if you saw the full video the "stage 3" fuel injection controler auto adjusts the mix.

  • @alack1153

    In my opinion all this “crap” is designed in California and because dirtbikes are the thing there everyone else is going to go out and spend $200 on a tuner they don’t need. Just know how to ride and upgrade the piston, clutch, cams etc. them tuners have been proven to be more time and money then power gains.
    Especially when building a modded RMZ450 without a tuner and then installing the tuner.
    Want a real mapping compatibility, GET is the only result. Everything else is no good.
    Get a controller, yea that is much more worth the money then the plug in fuel programmer(commander).
    Controller is good with TPS and actually doing some tuning but for the average person they will waste time and money.
    Get a $200 race piston (13.2:1 compression ratio), and $400 on camshafts. That’s still cheaper then the GET system and it’s not the same stock motor.
    Matt Elliot is in New Orleans and dyno tunes. Great work over there. Have an O2 sensor will help for tuning

  • @zipper978
    @zipper978 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dynojet sucks now. They only have a handful of maps for each bike now because they want people to drop the extra money on the auto tuner.
