the "copy" ability isnt actually that useless if you were to use the ability on a scarfy (the orange floating guys) it would not only instantly kill them but give kirby the "crash" ability. Who would've thought?
The best use I found for it is in milky way wishes. If you visit the secret planet 1st, you basically have Kirby's full moveset by default. But once you get a few, its obsolete again
Rookie I would argue that someone could say they like the SNES music more, but everything else is pretty much just Super Star with more added onto it. I mean I like Alpha Sapphire, but I actually like the original GBA versions soundtrack. People complained that the synthesized horns were too much but I always felt they made the adventure feel like some grand epic quest. It makes sense that they'd tone them down in the remake, but I feel some of my favourite parts of themes were lost.
Yeah, maybe it's because Super Star Ultra spoiled me, but I never really got into the original. I thought it ran too fast, which led to a lot of bullshit hits like Antdude mentioned. And a lot of songs just sounded better on the DS.
Super Star Ultra was my first Kibry game, and god damn is it awesome. Revenge of Meta Knight is still one of my favorite things in Kirby. Only problem is the multiple moves kinda spoiled me from the more simpler games in the series. I struggled to get through Amazing Mirror because of it.
SolidSnake684 I feel the same thing, the games that came for the gba started going back and this is completely stupid minding that the original super star came in 1993
It was my first too, I️ still remember beating Marx soul for the first time with my friends watching me. They all jumped off the couch screaming. While me with my headphones at full volume just sat there, terrified....
I have the same problem! Like even with the newer games with the similar move set I still have trouble because the controls still feel off compared to KSSU. Only other game in the series I’ve played that even came slightly close was Squeak Squad, which I love.
Hehe, I actually have yet to play Super Star Ultra, even though Amazing Mirror already gives you some different moves for some abilities. As someone who's only got to play Kirby's Dream Land and Adventure as of before, it was a bit jarring in a different way.
I'm sure you've probably heard these already, but just in case you haven't, an offensive can also mean a movement (usually military) into unknown or hostile territory. Meta Knight's plan was to end Dream Land's lazy lifestyle by overthrowing Dedede (not very well translated admitiningly). the Copy ability from what I understand was made when they decided to make copy abilites the way they were in Milky Way Wishes. But more importantly I see your point that Ultra fixed a lot of issues and just brought so many new things to a game that in ITS inception became the building block for Kirby as we know it today. I agree that it's better to recommend Ultra over the original release, but in my heart of hearts I can't help but have a fondness for the SNES version and playing it for vision therapy all those years ago...
"Is this your first time watching one of AntDude's videos?" Uh No I've been subscribed to him for a couple of months now. "Ok here's what AntDude makes for his channel." What!? But I said, aw screw you I'm outta of here. "No wait come back, don't you wanna learn how to watch his videos?"
Next video better be over 20 minutes long and feature a 6 second clip of just your toes wiggling to the beat of 02's theme song. I think this is something we can all get behind.
***** Alright sweet. Also, I don't know if I sad this already, but I like this new style of reviewing you have been implementing. I like how you throw in some funny things, and actually pull it off without it getting boring or annoying like some other people. Hats off to you.
I love KSS Ultra. Something about it just gets me into it very intensely, evidenced by the fact that I annihilated it in 3 play sessions recently. Also, Galacta Knight might be kinda disappointing in Metaknightmare Ultra as a boss, but holy shit is the fight intense in the True Arena.
Yea, I should have clarified that more. In Meta Knightmare, the fight seems a bit easy given the circumstance. But the stress of True Arena makes the fight more intense, just as the amazing music intended.
It's because you only have a limited supply of health between bosses, and Galacta Knight is about second to last, which at that point you would be really trying to reserve your health for Marx.
Phantom Drags KSSU is LITERALLY BETTER THEN SS, It's basically just the same game with Better graphics and More content and It also fixed annoying stuff. Nostalgia blinded people to saying "The original is better because it's the original" and that's still bullshit.
I actually bought a used copy of SSU which, for some reason, had 3 almost completed save files. I haven't completed them, but I did finish getting all the Great Cave Offensive treasures. So whoever left this copy of SSU at Gamestop, thanks.
Have you played before? Yes. Should we explain everything? No Are you sure? Yes Are you really sure? Yes Are you 100% absolutely sure? Yes Heres how to play!
MatthewTheAutismGuy Really? Weird, I haven't met any that say that, although I don't talk to Kirby fans as much as I should. I mean KSS was my favorite Kirby game, but I don't see how KSSU isn't objectively a better game, its the same game with more really, unless the controls or the fact that it is handheld bothers people...
Kirby Super Star is widely considered to be the best game in the series...and I don't really agree with it...kinda. We're getting close to the end of the Kirby marathon though, so get hype!

I agree with you, honest Kirby fanboy! SNES original=Outdated & overrated classic DS remake=Superior version of the original & one of the best Kirby games ever Super Star Ultra was indeed one of the best remakes ever. Something that most critics(Especially IGN, Gamespot, & Screwattack) failed to realized. IMO, 2nd best Kirby game. Better than Triple Deluxe, but not as epic as Return to Dreamland.

Kid you not was at the port elmsley drive in in Ontario where I call home and I found a copy of Kirby ssu sitting on the muddy grassy ground along with a copy of big brain academy. Got the darn things home and they BOTH WORKED still play Kirby ssu to this day its amazing
I know this video is old but I just wanted to point out that the "is this your first time playing" screen is you press no it tells you about the game modes main gimmick like how in great cave offensive it tells you press up to open chest but if you press yes it gives you the guide like how to jump etc...
i think why people consider superstar the best is the ability system. really i think its the best in the series XD the hats, the multiple moves..... THAT part is probably what most people are talking about XD
Fact: Super Star Ultra is one of only four games in the series that has never been available as a digital download, the other three being Air Ride, Slide, and Dream Collection. Everything else has been available on Virtual Console, NSO, or the shop of its native hardware (as well as Wii games on Wii U).

I had one legit problem with Ultra. The way most of the existing music was handled, it lost the reverb effect from the SPC700 chip, which gave it so much oomph back then. But that's been a problem with almost every SNES-to-handheld port I've seen- Final Fantasy 4 and 6, Yoshi's Island, the Super Mario Advance ports, what have you. I remember it being something to do with the SPC700 chip being designed by Sony (and therefore the rights to that chip belonging to them), and Nintendo devs not being able to use the chip in any way when porting SNES games to the GBA or DS as a result.
Hey, it's actually very nice to see the improvement on your more recent video compared to this one. The notebook upgraded, camera, mic, etc. Congrats on the success
Epic Yarn is easily the greatest one in the series for me. I don't know, I tend to love Kirby when it plays... nontraditionally (can you even say that? It's traditional for Kirby to play nontraditionally). Mass Attack is a load of fun and super difficult and Canvas Curse is cool and I'm excited it's getting a remake soon. I do enjoy Dreamland 3 for its look and 64 and KSSU are both loads of fun, but I don't know, they don't have the same pop for me.
In the japanese version, it asks something along the lines of "Do you already know how to..." with the same answers in the same order. Along the way in translation it got messed up, so they just made up thier own question with no regard of the options.
I was just searching with ctrl-f for "first time" to see if someone's made that joke! Except I was thinking "Is this your first time watching an Antdude video?" Yours works a lot better.
Great video as you have a new supporter and subscriber. Your channel is unique and deserves more views like many great underrated channels. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
AntDude Plays I dont get the second "No Time To React" example, I mean, you chose to take the star back, then moved towards the boss who shot out its hand???
I was thinking the same thing. The first example made sense because that was just cheap enemy placement putting the enemy right next to the door like that, but the boss it looked like it was more his fault for poor positioning, rather than the game itself. That would be like saying, "I didn't have time to react to the enemy's gunfire because I jumped into one of the bullets."
They don't if you play on original hardware, snes mini, or the switch. The reason his footage sucks here is because he is playing the wii virtual console version, which sucked the color out of all the nes and snes games.
I mean at this point if you haven't played this game you should just play ultra on 3ds for it's eaiser accessibility gameplay improvements and boat load of new content.
Nah, preferring Ultra makes perfect sense. The smaller games works way better on a handheld format. That said, the original does have the advantage of being part of the Dream Collection. Convenience and all that.
supersonic71097 Just a random guy on the internet, obviously. Should you care about me? No, I don't think you need to. This random guy though is amazed at how rude you are though.
SuperTeeter64 Dude I was just suggesting another great youtube reviewer to him, but then you needlessly butted in to the conversation while running your mouth. Whose the rude one here? Keeping in mind that this conversation only involved myself and roastbowls.
I LOVE Super Star Ultra. My very first Kirby was Crystal Shards, oddly enough. Then I ended up getting Squeak Squad, which is a short adventure, but I still really enjoyed it. But I got SSU and good lord I had a blast. I think it is still definitely my favorite, even after playing both Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot. They're both great and I love them so much. Kirbus 3ds era was so good. But I have so much love and nostalgia for SSU.
I love super star ultra it was my first Kirby game and my favorite ability was Mirror I was shocked to see it was the only game (besides super star original) with the ability and when I found out it was in robobot I was So Happy it instantly made planet Robobot my favorite Kirby game
it would have been funny if when metaknight asked to fight the strongest warrior in the universe he had to fight kirby
+magic flying rainbow unicorn OF THE DEATH KNEEEL Or one of those broom enemies
MetroidSigma yeah
what if galacta knight is adult or an alternate reality version of kirby?
LOL
MetaKnight will have to face his wrost opponent yet: a WaddleDee
That steal/copy ability has one useful thing
YOU CAN COPY SCARFY'S ABILITY
AND IT IS "CRASH" JESUS CHRIST
Nippo IsAlien Copy was actually made for milky way wishes, since you can't copy there.
W-W-WHAT??? HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS???
I've had KSS Ultra for 7 years and I never thought to do that...
Also so your partner can become basically another Kirby
I don't get why, I think suplex is more fitting, but that may have been too overpowered, since he is a common enemy.
Gavin EOS THANK YOU! FOR ONCE THERE'S SOME HUMAN BEING ON THE INTERNET WHO UNDERSTANDS!!!!
Here's the thing:
Copy is an ability that's only useful in Milky Way Wishes.
***** And it gives the best partner in the game.
Wait a second
This explains why I never got the last few abilities?
and even though i got it in milky way wishes i still barely used it
Except that by the time you get it, you'll have most of the other abilities, so that kinda defeats the point of it
@@otaking3582
You can go get Copy right at the start if you want to
the "copy" ability isnt actually that useless if you were to use the ability on a scarfy (the orange floating guys) it would not only instantly kill them but give kirby the "crash" ability. Who would've thought?
It's also made specifically for Milky Way Wishes, since you can't copy there. Plus Copy on a second player is awesome
Pickled Cactus Productions um...what does crash do?
Morgan ! Crash causes an explosion that covers the screen, killing all normal enemies and dealing huge damage to bosses.
Charles Pascuandos thank you! I guess scarfys are useful for something.
The best use I found for it is in milky way wishes. If you visit the secret planet 1st, you basically have Kirby's full moveset by default. But once you get a few, its obsolete again
Saying KSSU is better than KSS is like saying Pokemon FR/LG is better than R/B and it's completely true.
Eeyup
pretty much

Rookie R/B and FRLG have enough different to warrant both while KSSU is just improved KSS.
I never played RGBY but I did play FRLG. I never finished it, though. lol
Just wanted to leave this here.
Yay finally someone else prefers Super Star Ultra over Super Star :D.
Phantaeon Not the only one.
I prefer ss ultra over the original

LackingStupidityOf Like Marx's theme. Or the underground jungle, or Meta Knight's battle. A whole lot of themes sound WAY better on DS.
+LackingStupidityOf And ESPECIALLY the Revenge of Meta Knight themes.

Kirby Super Star is widely considered to be the best game in the series...and I don't really agree with it...kinda. We're getting close to the end of the Kirby marathon though, so get hype!
wow. someone who actually agrees with me that super star isn't the best kirby game but the remake is totally close

Super Star Ultra was indeed one of the best remakes ever. Something that most critics(Especially IGN, Gamespot, & Screwattack) failed to realized. IMO, 2nd best Kirby game. Better than Triple Deluxe, but not as epic as Return to Dreamland.

Sold Ultra as a kid when I was really low on cash. Looking to buy it back now as an adult. Man, Ultra was amazing...

Ultra Kirb he is actually the Bandana Dee you fought before fighting Dedede

Ultra Kirb ok then
The "Offensive" part of The Great Cave Offensive is actually referring to the Smash Bros Stage. It's So Bad is Offensive.

Kirby Super Star ULTRA is the best Kirby game ever.
10:10 This is what you're here for.
An offensive is another way of saying adventure
Andres Acosta
Sarcasm I’m pretty sure.
@@--InsertNameHere-- If it is, it’s hard for me to tell
Meta Knightmare Ultra has his brawl move set so yeah it’s da bess
Huh, this was uploaded on Sonic's birthday... Just throwin' that out there...
I have to agree. Kirby Super Star was already good, but Kirby Super Star Ultra was an absolute masterpiece.
TH-cam: Is this the first time you commented on a video? You: NoTH-cam: Here's how you comment on a video...
Ant Dude.... You look like Andrew Scott, the guy who plays Moriarty in BBC's Sherlock.
Which is a good thing. :3
9:23 Actually, Moto Shotzo still uses the SNES sprite
Kirby Super Star ultra is my favorite Kirby game.
Copy is technically useful in Milky Way Wishes where you can't otherwise copy enemies but other than that it just looks cool.
2:20 He explains right there. It's because of its lazy lifestyle.
It's called great cave offensive because you are attacking / being on the offensive
Jack Stache lol
No cause it’s cause of the final boss of it
JackStache
I’m pretty sure he was being sarcastic.
6:30 It's called offensive because of Whamp Bam Rock's 1996 design
"Is this your first time playing?"
"Shall we explain 'copy'?"
Game: Want me to explain copy abilities?
Player: Nah I’ve played this before
Game: Alright I’ll explain copy abilities
Player: Am I a joke to you?
*laughs in ssu*
Y'know, AntDude doesn't have nearly enough subs for someone producing such quality videos. 10/10, great vids.
Super Star: 8/10
Super Star Ultra: 9.5/10

I don't think it's kissing... I think it's barfing into each other's mouths. |P
I feel like, being the innocent roll I am, it's just a hug.
Goldmanguyperson dudepersonmanguy *gasp* PREMARITAL HUGGING
Like birds
The true final boss Marx did scared me when i was young. Even the theme frighten me
I also feel that super star ultra controls better, and it portable! All nighters here I come!
Couldn't you have done an all nighter playing the SNES version
Yeah but it’s much harder to sneak an SNES and a TV under your sheets as a kid than it is to sneak a DS
@@adamkampen oh
Personally, the masked dedede theme (the triple dx remix) Is my favorite Kirby music ever
In the original, the graphics look so... desaturated.
They don't if you play on original hardware, snes mini, or the switch. The reason his footage sucks here is because he is playing the wii virtual console version, which sucked the color out of all the nes and snes games.
ThatGuyInAMask yeah, but even on the SNES the colors are more muted
@Gezi5 snes is definitely more muted than the Ds, I wont argue with that. But the Wii snes looks infinitely worse.
8:22 I kid you not, I got an advertisement for depression meds right at this part.
I thought I got one too but it was instead for a insomnia medicine.
Note: if you were playing on the virtual console, don't because it makes all the colours about 40% darker YES ITS THAT BAD
I mean at this point if you haven't played this game you should just play ultra on 3ds for it's eaiser accessibility gameplay improvements and boat load of new content.
Nice already watching the start and liking it all too much!
Nah, preferring Ultra makes perfect sense. The smaller games works way better on a handheld format.
That said, the original does have the advantage of being part of the Dream Collection. Convenience and all that.
Kirby Super Star Ultra is the best game in the series for the sole reason that it introduced Galacta Knight
That's not kissing.
You munch your food , And you pass the rest in your mouth to your ally.
*Disgusting right?*
Super Star Ultra was my first and still is my favourite Kirb
Best reviews on TH-cam IMO
Ever heard of somecallmejohnny?
supersonic71097 Ever heard of an opinion?
aaaaaaaaand who the fuck are you?
supersonic71097 Just a random guy on the internet, obviously.
