The only possible improvement I can think of involves the crystal shard at about 13:06. I believe that in this game, if you exit a cleared level with the pause menu, the game will let you keep any crystal shards you've gotten. So, you could skip that crystal shard at first, clear the level, then return for it. And, while the two stars below the shard are still unavoidable, you could probably pause the game the instant you collect the shard and then exit before collecting the two stars above it. If that works, then the new minimum total stars for 100%-ing this game would drop from 16 to 14. (26:28) In this situation, you could've gotten the double Cutter combo, which does have a bit of vertical reach. That would've saved you from having to replay the whole level.
Tbf though, with Bomb you practically have to actively try in order to get hurt by it. With Dynamite, it can happen super easily if you aren't careful, and since you leave yourself open while hiding under the hardhat there's the risk of an enemy just hitting you before the dynamite explodes anyways. I wouldn't consider it the absolute worst ability, but it's still not a very good ability because it's so easy to hurt yourself with it.

Did you know that when you hold an enemy in your mouth, if you press the button that lets you take your ability out you can use the enemy for your own above your head
And the enemies often have their own unique abilities that help. Like the pteradactyl looking enemies, when held above your head make you glide whenever you jump. The fish enemies that give you cutter, they act as a fast shooting gun above your head, they are better than the actual cutter ability! The Bronto Burts (the basic flying enemies from every Kirby game) give you a high jump, which is kinda useless but fun. The rock enemies are made of 3 rocks, so when held they throw each rock 1 at a time (also kinda useless). The Crabs are just a good rapid melee attack, especially if the enemy is tall or above you. And more, its fun to find out what each one does.

While I disagreed with your opinion on Return to Dreamland, I also don't like Kirby 64. I used to love it as a kid, but playing better games has opened my eyes to its flaws. My biggest problem is the oversimplistic level design, even more oversimplified than Star Allies. Past games had you move up, down, left and right at a moment's notice, in contrast to Mario mostly making you move in one direction. Here, you are moving in one direction for most of the stages. It's hard to put into words, but the level design in 64 lacks the dynamism of other Kirby games. There's also how this game is especially bad with not giving you the abilities you need to get the crystal shards within the levels themselves, coupled with a few insanely cryptic ones in Neo Star. Overall, I rank this game near the bottom of my Kirby totem pole along with the other Dark Matter games and Dreamland 1.
Yeah the Dark Matter games all suffer from bland simplistic level designs, and the first 2 also have really repetitive levels unfortunately. I'd say 64 is the best of the 3 though, as messing with the different powerups (or just holding the enemies above your head to use their attacks directly) adds a lot of variety that helps keep it more engaging (plus the shorter levels as well).
I love Kirby 64 for what it is. It was fascinating to see how the game's scope is. Like, a lot of the levels dont even change in terms of verticality, its just a block. But they still make it interesting with enemies and such.
I loved this game as a kid on the N64, I think I liked the creepiness of the game a lot. It's got a nice blend of cute and unnerving which I agree does come from those early 3D graphics. Also, that bad ending is so sinister lol.
The weird round fruit Adeleine draws on shiver star is a melon. They're green so that covers the potential for the last fruit to be a lime or the first one to be green grapes.
Max star on this and Kirbo Dream Land 3 would be a good idea. I just recently 100% the latter, and noticed you can relatively easily avoid all the star points in the game. Maybe there's a handful, but not compelling enough to do a video on at that point.
YEEEEYIKES I OVERSHOT LOL. Never basing my guesses on how many digits on the counter are again!!! Another good video, I never seen kirby64 so this was pretty cool. Cutter....looks so strange. And that's DEFINITELY oxygen (O2)
for the adeliene fruit one the round one is a melon its round with a stem off the top and usually if a game does a picture of the lemon/lime shape its always lemon
...To possibly immediately invalidate this run, I vaguely recall being able to move the point stars by inhaling. That may have been a completely different game though, admittedly. Also, for the fruit puzzle at 24:01, the second fruit Adaline draws is a melon, specifically a kind that is a lot more prominent in Japan. That shape is very distinct over there as I understand it. 🍈
You say dynamite is the worst ability, which leads me to assume you never mixed fire and ice. Also there's sleep which I'm pretty sure was always useless by design until forgotten land. Aa for the fruit color puzzle, the middle one is a classic melon design, if you're familiar with yoshi at all you probably recognize the melon both in shape and its green coloring. For the lemon/lime, you aren't technically wrong, but at the same time 99% of people who see that shape will think of a lemon first. It's the same as the grapes, there are multiple colors of grapes but the vast majority will associate purple with grapes, especially in scenarios like this one.
@rainbowsparkle122 Yeah but you get the hard hat for a reason, and dynamite has destructive power to rival crash. If you know how to not blow yourself up it's far better than an ability that manages to be worse than sleep.
I didn't know there were stars in Crystal Shards Honestly, came for no stars, stayed for Adeline (aka, the best character) Edit: Yeah, I sorta agree, Adeline is the only good thing about Crystal Shards, if she wasn't in it, I would never talk about it (actually that personally just comes from fear of me ever pkaying it, as I've been implying in my head that it's a WHOLE LOT more difficult to 100% than the other games, I don't enjoy playing hard games, as why I like Cuphead, yet have NEVER played it (i have a persistent fear in my head that will make me very upset if i encounter failure of any kind, i fear failure (lol I'm talking to you like your a psychologist))) Edit 2: I have no other way to respond to your reasoning for liking Adeline other than "personally, i didn't get it until i played as her in Star Allies Guest Star mode", i think everyone's reason for liking her is the fact she's the only character who's NOT a weird alien thing, i guess making her more relatable... Just guessing

3:00 Neither return to dreamland nor Kirby 64 that title are the first one that have Point stars goes to the prequel to this game Kirby’s dreamland 3
Dream Land 2 had them too
@@idunno_ Kirby's Dream Course :) (tho they don't act like point stars in KDL2)
@ oh I forgor thanks for the correction
partly responsible for this videos creation
The weird round fruit Adeleine draws on shiver star is a melon. They're green so that covers the potential for the last fruit to be a lime or the first one to be green grapes.
Max star on this and Kirbo Dream Land 3 would be a good idea. I just recently 100% the latter, and noticed you can relatively easily avoid all the star points in the game. Maybe there's a handful, but not compelling enough to do a video on at that point.
yo it’s my favorite game in the series!!!
I see 3 digits!! 150 max!!
Look at least fire and ice can't hurt you like dynamite can
@rainbowsparkle122 Yeah but you get the hard hat for a reason, and dynamite has destructive power to rival crash. If you know how to not blow yourself up it's far better than an ability that manages to be worse than sleep.
Fun fact (that everyone already knows) but world 5 (shiver star) is a post apocalyptic earth.
Hm. Do see why the game looks 'weird' as i had the same thought when i first saw it actually.
I just got used to ignoring that feeling lol
kirby 64 would be a perfect .exe horror game topic
18:08 you really think you're slick, don't you.
I didn't know there were stars in Crystal Shards
Honestly, came for no stars, stayed for Adeline (aka, the best character)
Edit: Yeah, I sorta agree, Adeline is the only good thing about Crystal Shards, if she wasn't in it, I would never talk about it (actually that personally just comes from fear of me ever pkaying it, as I've been implying in my head that it's a WHOLE LOT more difficult to 100% than the other games, I don't enjoy playing hard games, as why I like Cuphead, yet have NEVER played it (i have a persistent fear in my head that will make me very upset if i encounter failure of any kind, i fear failure (lol I'm talking to you like your a psychologist)))
Edit 2: I have no other way to respond to your reasoning for liking Adeline other than "personally, i didn't get it until i played as her in Star Allies Guest Star mode", i think everyone's reason for liking her is the fact she's the only character who's NOT a weird alien thing, i guess making her more relatable... Just guessing
