My brother was really into Nintendo, and played the old games through emulators. He introduced me to Kirby. The first game I played was Kirby Super Star. Though, Kirby's Dreamland 3 was my favorite because of the style and soundtrack of the game. My brother is currently in a group home that helps with his autism, and he is still in love with Nintendo to this very day. I'm so glad he got me into Kirby, and I really wanna see him again soon :)
I don't know... he's kinda a dick. We were at work and I told him to keep my sandwich safe then I left to go to the bathroom. When I got back it was gone. When I asked him what happened he told me there was no safer place than in his stomach. If he wasn't 6'3 and really hot I probably would of done something tbh.

Kirby's Superstar is my favorite game of all time. I raised my little brother, niece, and son playing that game as small children. It's so extremely special to me, and I get emotional thinking about the years of connection and fun it has brought me.
Gonna point out how huge co-op gameplay was for Kirby Super Star. People forget that 2-player Mario Bros and DK for years was just taking turns on death. Kirby Super Star was light years ahead of its time for platforming. Edit: you called this out 30 seconds later. Lol
To be fair I would include Kirby: Squeak Squad as being into "Classic Kirby" as much as Nightmare in Dream Land and Amazing Mirror, because of how it was developed, how it still clings into the gameplay of older games, its references to the anime which places in the same era as it and so on, with the "modern era" starting from Super Star Ultra onwards.
The original Kirby's Dream Land will always hold a very uniquely special place in my heart for being the very first game I ever beat on my own, start to finish. I was four years old. It wasn't the first video game I ever played, however - that honour goes to Mega Man 2. But all the same, I have always been a big Kirby fan.

5:14 -This is actually why the HAL 9000 was called this. It was not coincidence. Clark purposely did this as a sort of critical nod to IBM when making the famous computer. Also, it was not the sentient villain people tend to associate it as. It had a sister computer called the SAL. In the sequel book the lead programmer of HAL took the SAL to the remains of the ship from the first. He retrieved HALs hard drive and with the assistance of SAL did a long safe reboot from factory settings. It was discovered that HAL was simply following its best programming. It was state of the art AI but forced into a quick mission with limited background information added and attention to the kind of instructions it was given to utilize. The AI can only do what it is allowed and work with the resources given. The US was fearful the Russians would learn about the monolith and reach it first so NASA was rushed and clumsy. They wanted HAL as it could operate the entire ship for the most part and make the mission set up faster but it was an experimental and ill prepared unit for that task. They also were worried about spy leaks. Thus HAL was given priority to not allow info on the mission to reach individuals not with high enough clearance. NONE OF THE ASTRONAUTS WERE TECHNICALLY HIGH ENOUGH Clearance. Already up in outerspace on the mission, HAl used it's limited reason and data pools provided to create a solution. It needed diminishing astronauts to make it to the goal of the mission, reach the monolith and report data findings, but it was not required to return itself. It just needed to get the data to NASA. If it could cut communications and kill off the astronauts as it no longer needed them for the mission, no info leaks to further non-qualified individuals would occur. Yes. It was a simple and easily avoidable oversight by the tech people in their xenophobic rush that it occured. HAL was not alive or with malicious intent..not self aware or crazy..that was a huge aspect of the series. Humanity still had serious self destructive flaws in it primitive fear of /competition with itself. Another example occurs earlier in the book. The Russians and US now unite against a common fear of China. The space laws determine the original ship is coming up on fair salvage laws where anyone who reaches it owns it and all data contained. Afraid of what China will do, US and Russia launch a collaborative mission to beat them. When they wake up from the initial trek they are informed somehow China still got ahead of them but it was due to a reckless new plan that got them stranded. The allied group agreed to reduce their astronauts if sole custody of the ship is relinquished to then but when they arrive it is too late and the chinese astronauts are killed by a primitive alien lifeform acting in compulsory movements. HAL was lightning in a bottle that was loosely being marketed and used for purposes beneath it with costly consequences. It was very much a critical on IBM at the time and it makes this niece answer about HAL laboratories kind of hilarious.

I just got done with Kirby adventure I like it but I feel it would be pretty equal to me to nightmare in Dreamland if the copy abilities were not annoying with the fact that if you take a single hit you lose it. Outside of that both are absolute winners in my book.
@@KirbyMasterArchives yeah heh although that NES visual I do like. If I remember correctly adventure was released late on the nes so they pushed that thing to the max. But ya the GBA one of course looks better and gameplay is tweaked a bit. Kirby not losing his dang copy ability after getting one hit is a big plus too.

Revenge of the Gator is one hell of a great game on the original Game Boy. Give it a try! Once you play it, you'll immediately say "Yeah, that definitely looks like a HAL game."
Kirby is a brand of vacuum, I always thought that way why he was named that, then I heard about the lawyer. Never know about the harshness of the name, cool stuff.
22:50 I think I should mention that in Kirby's Dream Buffet. The Yellow Kirby color is called "Keeby Yellow" when selecting it through customization. Nice touch, Nintendo. Also it would have been funny to rename the "Tea Green" color to "Leaf Green". Would have been a REALLY funny Pokemon Easter Egg considering there's a color named "Fire Red"
57:14 -There is a pre-existing hypothesis that all the Nintendo multiverse is connected by Dreamland. Dreamland is literally that, the land of manifested dreams that is its own physical place but also a world in between worlds people can astral project into when sleeping. People have their own dream "islands" that manifest around them in this astral outter (or more accurately, inner) space. The Kirby's Dreamland, Mario Land and LoZ LW game all occur on the Gameboy, have crossover enemies and the later two are oddballs for their series. All three take place on/feature islands and the Zelda one is confirmed a dream. We now know the technical and marketing reasoning for some of this but the belief was that all three take place at the same time in separate but nearby dream "islands." The WhistleFish, and Mario are both dreaming the adventures Mario and Link are having while Kirby is dealing with his own situation at the beginning of the Dark Matter series, so that some of the enemies from each other's adventures make it over to the others. Even though it seems the Mario dream idea is debunked now, the concept Kirby exists in a Nintendo Dreamspace persists with these little cameos. Further, it is linked to the Smash Story where everything happening is in ANOTHER layer of reality beyond where a kid is growing up with toys or collectables representing their favorite Nintendo beings on imaginary adventures. The enemies in those games are abstract concepts of mental processes. The grand idea being that the Nintendo universe is an imagination land of multiple realms all internally linked by their own Dreamspace but consisting themselves of the "dreams" of our real world people. Kirby's home is literally a dream dimension within a dream dimension.
@leap123_ Islands. Link washes up on an island when Link's awakening begins and the game takes place on that island. SML2 and even 3 with Wario as the star takes place on an island. Mario even leaves the island only to go to space. Kirby's Dreamland 2 reveals the Hubworld Kirby's Dreamland and we see it is actually made up of seperate themed floating islands in space. The idea is that Kirby is in a literal Dreamspace and peoples dreams manifest into physical forms, spreading out as floating islands in the ocean of the astral plane. As they build, they can become full planets but start off as smaller "islands" suspended and separated from each other by the void. Also, not going to let you troll me asshole.
