I am a 70 year old Hippie and I have seen them all ,including Jimi. Jimi was great and broke new ground no one had ever done but no one and I mean no one is in the same class as SRV. He never ever fudges a note...ever!
Stevie was on another level. Eric Clapton said of him, " Stevie was like a huge, open channel that music just poured out of. He made people who never touched a guitar want to grab one and start playing, and made those who had played for years want to quit."
I think the part you're missing here is that Stevie Ray Vaughan hit the scene as a white dude dominating blues music and he just oozed cool and nobody could touch him on a guitar and it was genuine
He's the first white person to be inducted into The Blues Hall of Fame. Then he played at Carnegie Hall and for the 1989 presidential inauguration, behind his back and behind his head after breaking 2 strings and blowing away the President.
SRV was the absolute GOAT in my book. The best E V E R. I still cry regularly watching him. Thank you. His 'Sessions' with Albert King are amazing, also live with Johnny Copeland. He did some blues with BB King and Eric Clapton as well. Said Stevie was an open channel and the music just moved through him. I think he was better than Hendrix - Stevie's notes and tones are much clearer and more precise and he still keeps the soul And speed of the music. Thanks for the reaction. ❤
Honestly I'd still say he could be THE Goat. I am not an expert but damn does he play beautifully. I'll definitely have to check out some BB King/ Eric Clapton with SRV. I think the audience agrees mostly that SRV was better than Jimi. Jimi did originate it though (from what I'm reading/hearing). Thanks so kindly for checking my reaction out Jennifer! Honestly, it means alot.
Stevie would play for 13 hours straight. He always did at least 4 ancores. ❤❤ He always gave 100% every time he went on stage. He aways said he looked at every gig as if it was his last and it would be a shame if he didn't give everything he had. He IS the BEST. To this day. BAR NONE! HE WILL ALWAY'S BE MY #1. ❤❤ He took me and my sister all over the world. Places we never dreamed of goin'. We had Soooo Much Fun. Soooo many good memories. He was soooo much fun just to be around. ❤❤ I just love that brother of mine.❤❤ You should check out Live of course at the Festival 3rd Stone from the Sun. Ya'll want your mind blown. Check that out. ❤❤ Ya'll been Warned! ❤❤
Some call him “The Cat in the Hat with a Strat”! He was as kind and humble as he was talented. I got to spend time with him in the last, and sober, years of his life. Please keep reacting to Stevie. For something that really showcases his band, Double Trouble, check out “Mary Had a Little Lamb” from Austin 1989. Thanks, Donna G❤
The entire Austin City Limits show from 1989 is incredible...love Stevie Ray!!! Check out Look at Little Sister on the Austin show and you will see how incredibly talented he was!!
hahah thats rad, i like that! Always cool when someone becomes "LEGEND" status and they stay humble.. It's definitely not too common nowadays. Oh I bet that was so cool, spending time with him. I will absolutely check out those recommendations!! Thank you!!! Trust me when I say, it's ALWAYS appreciated. Have a good day Donna G!!!
SRV pushed is soul through his guitar for all the world to feel . G.O.A.T! He's the gest there ever was ! You should watch( life without you ) 1985 capital theater NJ. Note the guitar swap early and broken tooth !
Stevie's brother Jimmy owns SRVs Number One guitar is worth almost a $1Million dollars today. All guitar players today learned everything from this humble and kind man. No one played guitar behind their back in the early 80s, but they certainly tried to copy him. Best guitarist EVER. RIP💔SRV🎸
Stevie Ray Vaughan was born on October 3,1954 he was from Dallas Texas, he has a brother 3 yrs older then him named Jimmie Vaughan who is a great guitarist In his own right and had a band called The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Jimmie got an electric guitar when he was 10 yrs old, Stevie Ray loved to play it so on his 7th birthday he got a toy guitar with cowboys and Indians on it but even with the toy guitar he learned to play Thunderbird by The Night Caps and Wine, Wine, Wine, by Lonnie Mack amazing. In 1964 Jimmie gave Stevie Ray his electric guitar for his first gig at a roller rink Stevie Ray was 10 and joined a band called The Chantones along with Double Troubles basses Tommy Shannon they went to school together but Stevie Ray quit when the singer wanted them to start wearing makeup on stage, Stevie Ray put a band together called Triple Threat Reuve in 1977 the singer Lou Ann Barton left the band on November 24, 1979 so Stevie Ray had to replace her and the rest on the band moved on except Chris Layton drummer who joined the band on September 10, 1978 and Tommy joined on June 23, 1981and Stevie Ray changed the name to Double Trouble, on June 7, 1985 keyboard Reese Wynans joined Double. Stevie Ray's career only span 7 years and he accomplished so much on December 13 1983 he released his album Texas Flood and his career skyrocketed, Texas Flood was written by Larry Davis and Joseph Scott in 1955 and Larry Davis recorded and released it in 1958, it was written while Joseph Scott was having relationship problems. Stevie Ray on December 13 1983 Stevie Ray was voted Guitar Player Magazine's Best New Talent, Best Electric Blues Guitar Player and Best Guitar Album with Texas Flood, Stevie Ray and Jeff Beck are the only 2 guitarist to have triple award guitarist, on November 8, 1984 Stevie Ray won a W.C.Handy National Blues Award, Entertainer Of The Year, Instermental Of The Year, he was the first white person to win either. So sad that Stevie Ray never got to enjoy a #1 hit before he passed, 2 months after he passed he finally got a #1 hit with Crossfire. Imo Stevie Ray could do so much more than Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray could play behind his head, backwards, one hand, broken string, switch guitar in the middle of a solo without missing a beat, tune his guitar while playing, adjust his AMP'S while playing with one hand, his teeth and elbow, watch Little Wing from the same show and you'll see it and he could play behind his back longer than anyone ever could, Voodoo Child he plays behind his back 85% of the song and finishes it off with a broken string, there isn't a video out there where anyone else can do all of that. Alot of people say Jimi Hendrix was the first to do these tricks on his guitar BUT no one ever mentions THE ORIGINAL amazing Buddy Guy, in 1965 Eric Clapton went to The Marquee Club in London and there was Buddy Guy playing his guitar above his head, with his teeth and picked his guitar which you see Stevie Ray doing,, my husband and I went to see Buddy Guy about 5 yrs ago and to watch him play with the drummers stick and he played it (no lie) with a towel. On August 24, 1990 Stevie Ray, Buddy Guy, Robert Clay and Stevie Ray's brother Jimmie went to East Troy Wisconsin to open 3 shows for Eric Clapton at The Alpine Valley Music Theater all 3 shows sold out with 40,000 people each show. On August 27th Eric Clapton finish and Stevie Ray, Buddy Guy, Robert Clay and Jimmie came out to join Eric Clapton, the last song Stevie Ray ever performed with them was Sweet Home Chicago by Robert Johnson who wrote it in 1937. Sadly Stevie Ray boarded a helicopter that crashed into the side of a mountain after takeoff and everyone on board were killed instantly. Imo Stevie Ray Vaughan will always be THE GOAT sorry didn't mean to write a book about Stevie Ray I just realized how long this is.
I saw him live the first time I ever heard of him. He was opening for Huey Lewis. Probably 84. I've been to a thousand concerts and have everyone but THIS guy just changed everything! It was so amazing that we didn't even stay to see Huey Lewis. As good as the video is, it's only a fraction of how great he was live. There isn't a best guitarist. There is a group of guys that are elite and above everyone else. Stevie and Jimi are in that group
Hendrix was a master. He pioneered electric guitar sound, a huge achievement and the best in his time. But Stevie Ray Vaughn mastered the music of Hendrix, Clapton, and the Blues greats, and bumped it up a notch. SRV is the goat, but would not have been as great as he was without people like Hendrix and others who lead the way.
Jimi and Stevie are the 1a and 1b in my books. Hard to choose between them. Jimi was the originator, and he blazed a trail that everyone else after him followed, Stevie most of all. Jimi also died at 27, so Stevie had a few more years to develop his craft and grow his audience. Stevie played best later in his career after he got sober and for my money his tone and the sheer fluidity of his playing are second to none, but he would be the first to acknowledge his debt to Jimi.
You mentioned how the song is over 9 minutes, and if he was jamming more than he usually does. This is the true essence of SRV. Live, he never plays a song the same way twice... ever. There are the song's motifs and then *everything else* is improvisation, what he is feeling/channeling at that very moment. There are very few guitar players in history that can "just go" like he did. In this particular song, the only motif is the intro.
That is freaking RAD! Thank you for that information I appreciate it. I can see how you'd really get into it and change every song just slightly to how your vibing, too cool. Thanks Bewl!
This was in 1983, but he got even better after he stopped drinking. etc. a few years before he died in a helicopter crash in 1990 after a performance. Eric Clapton called him an open channel, which to me meant that any notes or chords he could think of on the fly just flowed out of his guitar naturally. He's my GOAT. Another great live performance of his was "Voodoo Chile" at Austin City Limits, a cover of a Hendrix classic. Another great blues performance is Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa doing "I'd Rather Go Blind". Joe is my favorite blues guitarist since Stevie died.
Thanks, ghost... SRV covered some Jimi - but in my humble opinion, SRV is the best.... and this particular performance is gold... it shows his raw talent and immersion in the music.. both guitar and vocals... (oh, yeah - he NEEDS the band. .to set the rhythm & background.....).. also, ain't nobody doing this today.. or possibly evah.. RIP, SRV! I'm sure you'll learn more about him if you care to.. he is known mainly as the GOAT!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! I needed a SRV fix today. He is the best in Texas Blues! I had the honor of having drinks with him a couple of times and been to several concerts. He was a very humble man. Lol Eric Clapton said Stevie is the only guy who could make him hang up his guitar. Stevie idolized Hendrix they are definitely close but I give the edge to Stevie and yes I am biased lol. There not all this long. Hell I have seen him do 20 min songs and 2 hour jam session. The song it self doesn't have a lot of words. Try Pride and joy thats really good. Double Trouble his band included his brother. As a Texan baby it is almost sacrilege to interrupt a Stevie solo. Just telling you in case you get hate for that lol. I know you didn't know. Stevie died in East Troy, Wisconsin in a helicopter crash in 1990. I miss him terribly. RIP Stevie.
You are so very welcome Clara!! Miss ya lady!! haha Sorry I've been so busy with work/training. I think the whole audience seems to agree... Though Jimi originated the style, SRV perfected it. I'm totally deleting comments complaining about pauses (the rude as hell ones).. Some people don't understand It's kinda REQUIRED to post on TH-cam lol. I will definitely check those out!! Thanks Clara!!
No, his brother was not in SRV's band Double Trouble. The band was Chris Layton on drums, Tommy Shannon on bass and later Reese Wynans on keyboards. Stevie's brother Jimmie was in the band the Fabulous Thunderbirds. They did record Family Style together, which was finished by Jimmie, as Stevie died before they could finish it.
Another great guitar player Albert King played with both Jimi & Stevie Ray. In his opinion Stevie was the best guitar player he had ever seen. Stevie put his heart & soul into every note.
Recorded this about 2 months ago, forgot about it and it was restrictions released. Please excuse my ignorance! I grew up on the West coast in the city. lol.. EDIT- Please don't complain that I haven't heard Stevie Ray Vaughan before.... that defeats the purpose of an honest reaction. If I already listened to him previously, why would I record doing it again? I shouldn't have to delete so many comments... LASTLY! You're REQUIRED to pause a video multiple times... That's how COPYRIGHT works.
I would never even try to say who is the best guitarist in the world because there are so many good ones and each brings something different to the table.
This is one of the best live performances ever recorded. You mentioned Hendrix and LSD, well SRV was very high on cocaine during this show, but it was probably one of his best ever!
Stevie Ray Vaughan. Born 1954, died 1990 at 35 years of age as a result of a helicopter crash following a concert in Wisconsin. Almost died a few years earlier due to drug and alcohol abuse. Got clean and sober. His playing improved (imo). Go check out his 1989 Austin City Limits show to see a clean and sober SRV.
That guitar that SRV is playing is his number one guitar is a 1957 Stratocaster. He swapped another guitar for it in a guitar shop. The way you see that in that guitar in this 1983 concert is what it look like when he got it
This guitar was 1959 Fender Stratocaster that he bought as a teenager at a garage sale for 50 bucks I think, it sold recently in the last few years for about 625k.
You gotta listen to Lenny by Stevie Ray Vaughan. It’s also live from the El Mocambo. It’s my all time favourite song by SRV. It’s a song written for his wife. 🤘🇨🇦 also The El Mocambo is in Toronto 🤘
He’s got a lot of shorter duration songs also. His recorded studio stuff is fantastic to be sure but yeah, his genus was playing live which I was lucky enough to see TWICE. I’ve been a fan since the eighties. I’m old lol. I could suggest songs of his to you all the live long day. His estate (which is essentially his older brother Jimmie who is also a great guitarist) has possession of all of his things I believe. He protects it pretty good. He allows the Rock n Roll hall of fame display it for short periods, not permanently. Stevie was killed in a helicopter crash in Wisconsin after a show. I can’t remember the year exactly but around 1990. And you got the name of the venue exactly right.
According to what I've read, Jimmie Vaughan has #1. In an excerpt from an article on the history of #1: Then, at a concert in Holmdel, NJ on July 7th, 1990, just over one month before Stevie’s unfortunate death, a piece of stage rigging fell on the instrument (and several of his other guitars) and snapped the neck in half. It was then replaced with a new Fender neck, which remained on the guitar until after Stevie’s tragic helicopter crash death in late August 1990. When Stevie died, Rene Martinez decided to install the original Number One neck back onto the guitar, and then gave the instrument to Stevie’s brother, Jimmie Vaughan, who still owns it to this day. Also, #1 was only on display from 2012 to 2017 per this write up from the museum, and it says the lender was Jimmie Vaughan. "Number One" was exhibited for the first time since Vaughan's death in the Bullock Museum's 2012 original exhibtion, Texas Music Roadtrip. It was on display in the exhibition Pride & Joy: The Texas Blues of Stevie Ray Vaughan through July 23rd, 2017."
What's my Top 5 G.O.A.T guitarists...uh first off, I'm a huge SRV fan and he will always be one of my top three. But with that being said...I'd have to say Jimi Hendrix, Joe Bonamassa, David Gilmour, Prince, and Roy Clark...but not in that order. We lost SRV in a helicopter crash while leaving a show in East Troy, Wisconsin. He was only 35yrs. old he had just reached fame before he was taken from us. As I watch these videos of him, I often wonder how many beautiful songs we were cheated out of hearing after his death. But I am very thankful we have these wonderful videos for those who knew him when he was a live but more importantly for the next generation to explore and enjoy. Which in turn keeps him alive RIP: SRV🔥🎸🎶🤗 PS; He would also play behind his head and with his teeth, techniques he undoubtedly was influenced to use by his heroes like Jimi Hendrix, but I know that John Mayer said in an interview once, (I'm paraphrasing) a friend gave him a mix tape of SRV and his guitar hero was discovered and he spoke about how SRV would play behind his back and John Mayer was a product of the 1980's.
I saw that guitar in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. The stained wood between the frets has been worn down to raw wood. Same above the pick guard.
Check out Stevie Ray Vaughan live at El Mocambo 3rd Stone from the Sun. WARNIN MIND BLOWER ALERT ⚠️ ❤. Stevie Ray was known as a Trick blues guitar player. ❤ He was also My Brother ❤ I Miss My Stevie ❤
I think he's playing what he called No. 1. His brother Jimmy owns it now and it's on display in Austin. But I also read somewhere it sold for $250,000 to send private collector.
Charlie Patton, born sometime between 1885 and 1891, was the first guitar player documented to have played behind his back. He was, of course, black. Like ALL of the OG's . . . . .
Nice reaction and appreciate the respect given to Stevie. Just cut down a bit on the pauses, save your summary for the end. My fave tag is "The Cat in the hat with a Strat". Fits him so well, his hats are the best. When you can play like that, you can wear whatever the hell you want! Try "Tin Pan Alley"with Johnny Copeland, great strumming and fantastic hat. Stevie is #1 for me. I've loved Hendrix since his beginning, he was a truly great bluesman, poet and amazing composer. (Try "Hey, Joe", "Hear My Train a comin' ", and "Red House".) Ahead of his time in these ways, I Don't think the entire world was ready for his genius. But he really paved the way and changed the world of music forever. RIP, Jimi❤️💔💙. We know SRV was a great admirer of Jimi, and imitation is the highest form of flattery. Stevie took a couple of Hendrix' best tunes and took them into the strat-osphere with his magik. Namely, Voodoo Chile and Little Wing. Please react to both, live, of course. And another belated Happy Birthday in Heaven to Stevie Ray. (Oct.3rd) RIP, King SRV. 🎸👽❤️💔💙. We all have missed you, and the way you grin. ☮️to all.
In terms of technical skill, SRV was definitely better than Jimi. But, Jimi is the originator. He partially inspired the sounds & motivation of a lot of these great guitarists, so he'll always have that place.
See that' what I always think about. Who ORIGINATED it. It's a little easier to work off someone else's work ya know? Honestly though it was RAD watching SRV play. Thanks for the info Andrew, appreciated!!
Yep. His gigs where at least 4 hours long and then he did 4 Ancores after the 4 hourof playin'. The he would take it out in the parking lot and play till 7 or 8 the next mornin'. You can get his guitar #1 or his first wife. Goes for 1300 buck's today. Everybody got it from Stevie Ray Vaughan. It's a Trick Guitar player. He was doin' this shit when he was 10 year's old in the back yard. He was just called SRV.
Stevie Ray Vaughan is the best guitar player on the face of the planet. BAR NONE! #1 in the world. Dont give a damn what Rolling Stone says they got there heads up there Ass'es.
Now that you have lost your Vaughanginity, next should be his version of "Voodoo Chile" taped at Austin city limits. You asked who was better. Hendrix wrote the tune an Stevie made it his!
As for his solo being worth watching, he actually added an organ player to the band later. His band is not flamboyant because they do not want to distract from his performance. Imagine trying to keep up with his improv, it’s a lot of work and skill. Now you know where the behind the back playing came from!
Check out Stevie Ray Vaughan live at Jazz Festival 3rd stone from the sun. Or look at little sister which was bout me. I am a wild child at Austin City Limits.
Ain't nobody better than Stevie .You already know that , you just saw it . Stevie had13 gauge strings. Many so called " artists " couldn't even play his guitar . His brother , Jimmy , has his guitar . It is recognized as the most valuable in the world along with Eddie Van Hallen 's . Where do you suppose Zack Wilde got that move ?
Stevie Ray was better then Jimi Hendrix. Jimi said so. Stevie Ray is my Brother. ❤❤ Stevie would go down the street on his bike at 10 and play the guitar behind his back. The neithbors jaws dropped to the ground. We just laughed. When we frist seen em do that our jaws dropped to the ground. ❤❤❤❤ Stevie Ray was the Guitar! ❤❤❤❤
Omg this man talks all through the dang show! First time here and last time. He claimed he wasnt gonna talk through the video so i stayed. But man if this is not talking much whats it like when he does talk through a vid? Smdh
tommy shannon (bassist) and chris leighton (drummer) are world class bad asses.....um, in this particular song they are very mellow on purpose, its the tension of them being laid back and SRV's almost scary intensity that give this song an insane dynamic....by thr other 2 being chill, stevie is almost somehow more intense by comparison.....and they;re such pros and tuned into to the guitar, that when it did stop in the middle, if u listen again, you'll hear them beautifully just nail the break.....tommy shannin was , i think, abt 10 years older than stevie, he'd played around texas for decades by this time, he played with johnny winter;s band in the 1960's (or johnny winters, imget them confused cuz i havent truly delved them yet), anyway, tommy shannin was a seasoned veteran bad ass.....chris leighton......theres too many examples to name....but electric blues isnt rock, typically, the bass and drums are background elements, rarely do u here "solos" from the others like u do in jazz
meant "by the** other 2 being so chill, stevie's intesnsity is magnified, or amplified, or multiplied, by comparison.....its by design".....just like when the song got very quiet was by design, thats an old technique after a big, loud part of a live song, get real quiet to make people strain to hear, and draw them in and lean forward, its secret performer voo-doo, a jedi mind trick to capture an audience"
Music is entirely subjective and it is pointless to debate who is "best" because there are so many variables. That being said, SRV surpasses everyone living or dead. It is pointless to debate about the rest.
I am a 70 year old Hippie and I have seen them all ,including Jimi. Jimi was great and broke new ground no one had ever done but no one and I mean no one is in the same class as SRV. He never ever fudges a note...ever!
I am 70 year old cowboy, SVR is the be all and end all! He’s like seeing the Rockies for the first time!

I like the cat in the hat with a strat
He was a wizard. Special people don't last long on planet Earth.
Isn't that the sad truth Elizabeth :( Always gone too soon.
To me, no doubt. Stevie Ray is the GOAT. Hanks for the reaction!

Stevie is the best! Great reaction!💘🎸🎸🎸💘
The GOAT. Cried like a baby when he died 😢
Stevie Ray is the Guitar. He IS the BEST! PERIOD.
That guitar is in a museum and is said to be worth about a million dollars. He is the best in my opinion
Stevie is the GOAT, any genre, and this is the greatest use of a guitar I have ever heard in my 58 years.

Playing behind your back and singing is extremely rare, no matter what year it or was.
"His guitar playing is really really good". Kid, you just made the understatement of the 21st century. While Jimmy was a genius, Stevie was a master.
Yes, he was on another level!
the best is the one you like best, I can enjoy any song Stevie put on an album or played live and I can't say that about anyone else
Very good way of putting it David! Thank you for checking out my reaction.
"Life Without You" live from the Capitol theater should be next for his best IMO.
It's on my list! Can't wait to check it out, thanks Moe!
Some of the tones he gets is amazing.
Honestly it was super RAD hearing this for the first time. I haven't heard anyone put that much soul into a guitar solo in a looooong time.
In my book SRV is GOAT....
A damn fine Goat at that (in terms of guitar lmfao)
Stevie is the goat, his voodoo chil is dare i say next level
Stevie Ray is #1 just like his guitar. He is also my brother. That makes me his Little Sister.❤❤
Stevie Ray Vaughan is my brother. You don't sing or play the blues. You feel the blues. Texas Blue's where it all started.
My favorite is reviera paradise
STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN IS THE BEST EVER. BAR NONE. MY BROTHER WILL ALWAYS BE MY NO# 1. ❤❤❤❤ JIMMI COULDN'T HOLD A CANDLE TO STEVIE RAY. PERIOD. ❤❤❤❤
@@GhostsLoveTacos when you get a chance to talk let me know.
He is the Guitar. ❤❤
I still get a lump in my throat when i hear Little Wing. Its beautiful homage to Hendrix and its honest heartfelt mojo
He is one of the top 5 ever.
That guitar is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame museum and the neck paint is shredded down to raw wood.
You’re good man 🤘 it’s all about enjoying the music 🎶
@@connorrea-clement2629 Thanks Connor!!
You're fine, bro
it's all good 👍
Do YOUR thing! Good job.
As far as nicknames go you can just call him "GOAT"!
Touche! I won't argue with that.
Love Jimi! That said SRV is considered by almost all blues players as the GOAT.
I would never even try to say who is the best guitarist in the world because there are so many good ones and each brings something different to the table.
This is one of the best live performances ever recorded. You mentioned Hendrix and LSD, well SRV was very high on cocaine during this show, but it was probably one of his best ever!
I like his later work better.
The way you see that in that guitar in this 1983 concert is what it look like when he got it
Don't forget the encores. ❤❤
Hey hey Connor! You talked me into it, it's on my list. Will check out asap!
@@GhostsLoveTacos can’t wait 🤘🤘 hope you enjoy it
He’s got a lot of shorter duration songs also.
SRV the best!
🤠 Insurance appraisal on Stevie's guitar, "No. 1," is valued at 1 million dollars. It is in the Bob Bullock Museum in Austin, Texas. 🎸
Damn!! See he’s absolutely legend status. I can 100% see why!! Thanks John!!
RIP SRV
RIP indeed :(
He's really good.......so far
Stevie was the king! I like your video because you didn't interrupt too many times
GOAT
Life Without You live at the Capitol Theater and Voodoo Chile and Little Wing and a bunch of others, a bunch
Both SRV and JH are "GOATS" (Greatest of All Times). No need to chose one over the other.
It will go for Millions $$.
Stevie was the best one. You need to react to voo doo child live from Austin Texas
😊 blue eyes Jason d u t h r d e in the guitar in the background
It wpuld be worth Millions.
We love Double Trouble.
The TEXAS BLUES MAN Was SRV's Nickname.
Charlie Patton, born sometime between 1885 and 1891, was the first guitar player documented to have played behind his back. He was, of course, black. Like ALL of the OG's . . . . .
Not alot of ppl have EVER played guitar behind their back LIKE STEVIE! NOONE
You hit the nail on the head
Stevie Ray Vaughan was the best 👌 👍 He blew Jimmy Hendrix outta the Water!
For SRV's "First Wife" guitar at auction? The bidding would START at 10 million...
SRV king
Stevie used Jimi's wah pedal. SRV loved Hendrix. Listen to his bass player on this track. Tommy Shannon is a beast.
That's a million dollar guitar in his hands
Stevie Ray Vaughan is the best guitar player on the face of the planet. BAR NONE! #1 in the world. Dont give a damn what Rolling Stone says they got there heads up there Ass'es.
Now that you have lost your Vaughanginity, next should be his version of "Voodoo Chile" taped at Austin city limits. You asked who was better. Hendrix wrote the tune an Stevie made it his!
His band was there to provide a musical pocket for Stevie to shoot his strat fireworks off of.
SRV is the "GOAT"
Hendrix was good but he had nothing on SRV. Stevie wasn't human
Judging by the comments I don’t doubt that lol
You be the judge, different kind of music, he's the blues, they were both great , listen to his version of Voodoo Child
Subbing for SRV
For someone who doesn't want to interrupt, you sure do it a lot
Omg this man talks all through the dang show! First time here and last time. He claimed he wasnt gonna talk through the video so i stayed. But man if this is not talking much whats it like when he does talk through a vid? Smdh
I think the edge in innovation goes to Hendrix, execution by far to SRV.
59 strat... in museum. Cant put dollar amount on the guitar named ONE.
tommy shannon (bassist) and chris leighton (drummer) are world class bad asses.....um, in this particular song they are very mellow on purpose, its the tension of them being laid back and SRV's almost scary intensity that give this song an insane dynamic....by thr other 2 being chill, stevie is almost somehow more intense by comparison.....and they;re such pros and tuned into to the guitar, that when it did stop in the middle, if u listen again, you'll hear them beautifully just nail the break.....tommy shannin was , i think, abt 10 years older than stevie, he'd played around texas for decades by this time, he played with johnny winter;s band in the 1960's (or johnny winters, imget them confused cuz i havent truly delved them yet), anyway, tommy shannin was a seasoned veteran bad ass.....chris leighton......theres too many examples to name....but electric blues isnt rock, typically, the bass and drums are background elements, rarely do u here "solos" from the others like u do in jazz
meant "by the** other 2 being so chill, stevie's intesnsity is magnified, or amplified, or multiplied, by comparison.....its by design".....just like when the song got very quiet was by design, thats an old technique after a big, loud part of a live song, get real quiet to make people strain to hear, and draw them in and lean forward, its secret performer voo-doo, a jedi mind trick to capture an audience"
Music is entirely subjective and it is pointless to debate who is "best" because there are so many variables.
That being said, SRV surpasses everyone living or dead. It is pointless to debate about the rest.
