Stevie used very heavy guage strings , part of his sound. I think I'm right in saying that he was using a 17 guage for the thin e string at one time but went to a 13 guage in later years. I was lucky enough to see him play on 3 occasions
I once got pulled over by a Cop for speeding....he heard me turning down my SRV CD. as he approached...He said "Do you know you were speeding?" I said, "Well, I got carried away listening to Stevie Ray..." Cop smiled, handed me a ticket and said "No more Stevie Ray while driving! It's dangerous, ok?" I just took my ticket and smiled back. Continued on my way to the Rodeo.
