Shielding is there to protect the VNT plug. It's at the highest point which is where engine heat accumulates. Any options to protect a plug are very limited and that shielding is the most elegant. The other options include a oily, brown coloured wrap that smells funny, which I'm sure you'd not enjoy. Clutch reservoir has an oring to seal around the lid. It''s not going to fall off when you drive the car in any situation. Find me a hot side of a used turbo that isn't rusty. I'll wait. Most dual cab utes have ridiculously long charge piping, that's why we have an aftermarket. I've got a MN triton hard pipe kit on my front porch right now that solves the issue on the MN. I'm happy to hear there's not much of consequence you don't like about the Triton, sounds like you'll get a happy 5-10 years!
The squeaky suspension is something all trucks have and even 4wd SUVs like Prados have. Sometimes it's the pads btwn the leaf springs that rub or sometime it's just dirt.
The good news is some of the issues you have will be fixed anyways as they are common upgrades for 4 wheel drivers. Here in South Africa we dont have the same choices as you guys and Mitsubishi is missing out by not offering us this, we also dont have the emissions control so most will delete the egr and remove the dpf once out of warranty.
My 2wd 98 MK Triton 4g64 has done 392,000km it has no rattles or noises and everything still works even the A/C is still cold. Most new cars for the last 15yrs or so only have one coat of primer one coat of paint and one coat of clear I've worked in panel shops and seen it myself.
I've had a glx since Feb and have about 10k on it. Gets used a lot on the farm for odd jobs and stock work. I haven't had to many complaints. Main complaints are the anti jacking door locks ... No seat lumber adjustments... The rear overhang is worse than it looks (I fitted an arb summit rear bar to fix this) and yes the chin. I had a tjm bar installed and that fixed that...
New subscriber here Sir ! From the Philippines..... Yeah Sir you said pretty much all its issues. me and my wife got our first pick up truck which is a 2.4 Triton 2021. everything you've said here are my experiences too in this car. but just like you said despite it I still love this Car. it gets the job done and takes care of us. for me its an underrated pick up because triton is a beast pick up truck too.
I brought the 2021 Triton gsr in black and the paint is shit thin if I ran my finger nail over it I would leave a big line to be honest I expected better for the money but in saying that most cars today suffer the same problems they are all scamming the public. I still love my Triton but the paint is a massive fail looking back when I brought it the salesman suggested paint protection I said why is their a problem with the paint oh no its fine it just helps with pollution and bird poop and god nose what else. I was told by someone that does the paint protection that its not really going to make much difference because the paint is so thin so I decided to leave it. All car manufactures should get a big kick up the arse. That will be the last new car I buy.
Spot on mate the paint is appalling, got mine in 2020 and already resprayed the front door sills and i'm down to bare metal inside the fuel filler. Only have to walk past it and you scratch it
I have a glx+, same problems as you have discussed but once again, I bought it to have fun and explore like you mate. I just dinted my tub just below my driver's side lights. Annoying, but I couldn't put a price on how good of an experience last weekend was
Hi mate. The suspension is a known ticket with Mitsubishi for the MQ (not a recall). If you're within warranty, they'll replace for free when proven to be the cause. Given MQ and MR use the same suspension, I imagine it'll hold true for MR as well. That said, people have said it continues to squeak afterwards too. At the very least have a chat and see where you stand
did you ever find out the output of that usb port, I have a GLX+ and am noticing the same thing, its coming up on 2 years old in October this year. ive combed through the manual but cant find anything, i might have missed it a few times
My triton Dec22 is 4 days old and I noticed the alfoil wrapped potato yesterday... I touched it and it seems like a lead wrapping, but obviously not... why Mitzi why? thanks mate great to find you.
Yeah all the MR's have very thin paint, i have a blue GLS Premium and the original paint on my 91 GQ is stronger. Overall i love my MR. 33's, 2" lift, bull bar, scrub bars, winch and uhf so far.
Sorry to hear all your problems. Ive had tritons since the 1990 love them. You never see me in a hilux nissan or dmax. So over the years I've probably saved that much money that my next car will be free.
The 2017 Trition which I bought brand new has no paint on it as well .So looks like it has not changed. Scratched the back tray on the outside and could not believe how thin it was.
I've had a mh mk now a mn ex nsw foresty commission ute second hand 4 ys of reliability. No tritons have ever let me down pure unexplainable reliability with over 500 k kms
Mate also if you Google triton 2.2 l diesel Europe you'll see that the engine has a lot more aluminum flashing than in yours. It really does make the engine look cheap. Check it out and see.
Mine had the same annoying squeak. Mitsubishi has a silencer kit to fix the issue, getting that under warranty. A major issue that people should be checking, something which I recently found on mine, is a leak in the intercooler pipe on the drivers side. This is a common issue according to Mitsubishi. I’ve also had a catch can installed after seeing how much oil makes it through the intake, also how we found the leak because of all the oil around the joint. I’ve got a couple of photos if you want more of an idea.
The fact the 2022 GLS didn't come with a tray from factory so I had get one put on but they leave the blind spot rear bumper on.. looks awful. Otherwise, a good car 😂
Thanks for the content mate. I've been looking at getting a twin cab ute, and Triton is currently at the top of the list. One thing that initially drew me to the Triton was Super Select 4x4. Obviously the GLX doesn't have that. Do you find there are times you've wished you had it?
@@chrisarnold462 I have the GLX+ MR and love it to bits. However I will definitely be upgrading to the GLS on the next one. A lot more than just the super select included. Just my opinion, certainly not needed however for the extra 5k-6k I think it is worth it!
Hey mate, depends what country you live in and what your budget is. On the expensive side of things you've got Bilstien where as if you want something cheaper Tough Dog are a decent brand. Anything over a 40mm lift will require new control arms (can't remember whether it's the upper or lower arms) as the factory ones bottom out on the bump stops
I am about to move forward with getting the GLS, any reason I shouldn't? I plan on upgrading suspension over time so not worried about that, plus the tires. I've watched all of your videos to date in 2 days, so far I am so convinced at getting the MR GLS Triton over the rest of the 4x4 line up.
@@mrtriton5405 Excellent, thanks. As soon as lockdown is over in Melbourne I will test drive and purchase a MR GLS Triton :D Mitsubishi really has you to thank for a $51,000 (with accessories) purchase

I will take the shitty paint job for that price than spend an extra $15k for a similar, less off road capable top end model which may pull a heavier caravan.
