Have had one since April, honestly has been far more impressive than I thought it would be coming from a 2020 Ranger XLT. Top spec GSRs can be had for $10k+ less than a Wildtrak, and yes has less tech features, but most people want that. For those that don't, the Wildtrak is there. As for the driver monitor system, there's literally a 3 min process to disable it permanently, with no adverse effects to the safety system. While yeah, shouldn't have to do it and it should have been an option to turn it off via software permanently, MMA seem to be turning a blind eye to this "life hack". Apart from that, averaging 7.7L/100 for mixed driving is incredible and something my Ranger couldn't achieve, easy low 7's when just highway driving sees over 900km to a 75L tank. These things deserve more love than they have been receiving. Every brand has their quirks, but I would still pick this over another certain popular brand with their stacking up gearbox and engine woes 👀

I have a flatdeck fitted to a VRX Triton in NZ. As it's a flatdeck, the fuel cap and AdBlue caps are exposed. The fuel cap is lockable but the AdBlue cap is the standard one you get on a wellside. PROBLEM The AdBlue cap disappeared. First thought was that someone had stolen it. A new cap was put on but the fit makes me suspect that it simply came undone and fell off with vibrations. Whilst it 'clicks' when done up, there is simply no resistance when loosened and a couple of turns removes it. A check on a brand new wellside shows exactly the same issue so it's not a one-off fault. Replacement cap cost is robbery.

Great all round vehicle but agree that the chrome is just narly and prefer the blacked out bits.
The other really annoying feature is the rear air vent system which can only be operated by passengers in the rear seat, so when there is no one in the rear and the blowers were not turned off, you need to lean over and switch the system off which in today’s world is super annoying…
Otherwise a great vehicle with exceptional power delivery, even better than the more modern rivals.

All this tech is too often counterproductive because it is so poorly implemented by the manufacturers. I had a hire car last year that slammed on the brakes from 110kph to 80kph on the freeway because it got the speed limit wrong - despite being a new car the mapping wasn't up to date. It could have caused an accident. I have also had a car that was fighting me over the steering trying to keep me in lane when the lane was to narrow for the car. There is no need for this stuff. Cars are already too expensive and overpriced. Mitsubishi adds its glitchy safety software but still thinks it is OK to fit drum brakes on a new model in 2024!!

Many people are hesitant to buy because of the driver monitor system, sales are not increasing. I bought a Triton GSR a month ago. I test drove it both before and after the DMS update, and it has been improved a lot. It's a pain to have to turn it off every time, but once you get used to it, you can turn it off in about 3 seconds. It can't be helped, as all future cars will definitely have DMS. The Land Cruiser 250 also has it. I'm jealous because Japanese Tritons don't have DMS.

I'm banking that the system was needed to be like that to give it a 5 star rating based on some European standard, and mitsubishi were always going to update it to be more user friendly once the rating had passed and it had been seen out in the public, in the same mode as the testing. Then they can use the complaints as a valid excuse to effectively lower its safety rating by "fixing" it, and still keep the initial rating

I really like this triton , but Mitsubishi should just stick to 1 bumper for the top spec model in every country, for instance the top model triton in japan gets the more rugged looking front bumper.
The triton would also look better with a black grill and black dynamic shield as opposed to body colored. The design team at Mitsubishi needs to get asthetics, right. Which is something ford does correct all the time.
Other than that you cant go wrong with the triton, there is adequate power , full time awd super select which makes it superior to hilux and dmax on wet rainy or snowy roads at higher speeds.
The offroad capabilities are class leading , if you understand how to use the modes correctly.

Got called out by several people, was a pretty unfair review. Other reviews have had no issues whatsoever. Is there a study anywhere in the world that has empirically proven expensive, intrusive, and distracting driver monitoring systems have actually saved any lives? If anything they could be more dangerous. Safety ratings should be about how a car crashes and what happens to the occupants when it does. All this other tech guff is to justify ANCAP's existence. Adaptive cruise makes sense - you car might brake for you while you are (illegally) looking at your phone or playing with the radio. Lane departure warnings make sense for the same reason. DMS not so much. Bin.

    A mate has a new hilux S5+. Great vehicle….but…….!
The constant alerts to so called safety issues the vehicle picks up are just crap…… e.g 3 km above speed limit, ‘Pleas oboes all old safety regulation’s”. Is the Ute seeing what i do…foook no. So no comment should be made. Just another distraction from myself driving safely as per the road conditions.
I am driving on country roads swerving to miss pot holes. Lake keeper assist constantly is alerting me and hitting the brakes. Again taking my focus off the road and driving conditions. ( what a joke for general road safety).
I experienced this recently in my parents merc E series, 3 year old. Found myself constantly putting foot flat to the look to over com the safety feature breaking. The diving experience SUCKED !
With all these so called safety features I find them all a total and complete distraction. The same as myself watching some idiot swerving through traffic at 150km/hr on a 100km hwy/Fwy. Just awaiting for the accident in front of me to occur.
How does this make me be safer or myself and passengers ?
My enjoyable driving experience is now lost.
I cannot even move my head to look at blind spots beside my vehicle and the other 1-2-3 lanes on a freeway, without a distraction. How is this safe in any way ? Basically it isn’t.
Tech cannot replace basic fundamentally safety driving skills. All the so called indicators given by the current vehicles make all new vehicles unsafe to drive, due to distractions from road conditions and environments.
I would suggest going back to basics and teaching ppl how to drive and control their vehicle in Adverse conditions.
E.g. unsealed roads (basically rally driving) even at low speeds. Learn to drive @ 60km on unsealed roads, feel the drift of the vehicle loss of traction especially with cornering and affects of speed. Low traction conditions on sealed surfaces are similar and the same skill set are needed.
Time to change our approach and so will the outcomes over time.

That canopy is no good for a dog. Has no top air inlet vents and no slideing side glass. Poor bugger will die in there.

The canopy is an aftermarket accessory you can add vents if you have a dog and change the doors on the side etc

Wow this car selling for this price when you could just buy a Shark for less is wildly optimistic.

Triton will still be going fine in 10 years, while you will need three Sharks.

A triton has a way more capable 4wd system, not to mention - triton: 1030kg payload, 2.2t weight, 3.5t towing 10 year warranty, shark: ~790kg payload, 2.7t weight, 2.5t towing 6 year warranty on some items, 3 years on others.

Lol, enjoy getting parts when/if needed for the Shark. Like any Chinese car brand out there, they all suffer from the same thing - spare parts unavailability.
