    I’ve had my Triton for 5 months now and every time I think I need at add something I realise I don’t need it. Agree with the out of the box setup. Pretty good for the low price you pay.

    I did the Binns Track on the way to the Finke, with a two wheel drive Holden Rodeo Tray top with $ 50 light truck tyers. Went to Kakadu on the way home threw the Western Mc Donald Ranger's, Not once did I get a puncture or had a issue. Like you say pick your lines and you'll be fine....never once did I deflate the tyres. I made it . Might have been lucky who knows. Since bought a MR Triton ready to do it all again. 😀🔥🌴🐪

    Bought the 2012 Triton (auto) in well 2012.. 9 years on it don't look original any more. Lifted, 35" wheels, Winch, bar work, lights, canopy, dual battery, antennas, etc, Done the Borneo 2x. Keeps up with the best and then more. Awesome machine

    Mate, I like your work and your passion for the car that nothing can frighten. I will hit the subscribe button.
    Just some honest feedback here, if I had $2k to spend to make my MR more off-road capable. I have upgraded my tyres to achieve maximum sidewall height. My tyres are approximately 20mm bigger in diameter, compared to the stock tyres, so about 10mm higher off the ground overall. Any gain in clearance, even 10mm, reduces the impact on underbody wear and tear. The extra clearance from higher sidewall tyres also help reduce getting hung up on whatever is sticking out on the track.
    Taller sidewall tyres also bag out more, when deflating. So you get more traction.
    If you buy a bullbar to increase your 4wd capabilities, all you’re doing is adding dead weight to the front of your car. This will help get you bogged. The bullbar will also reduce the capacity of your high impact crumple zone system, making your family vulnerable if you hit a roo or whatever while on the highway. Google John Cadogan bullbar for more info mate.

    With the exception of slashing the wall on one on a buried star picket, i have given my Triton 2021 stock tyres hell and they have done just fine. Regular use off road, living on a farm deep east gippsland. 32k km and still plenty tread.

    Great Video. I'm really happy with my 2016 MQ GLX. I brought it 3 months back as a work ute. I really want to upgrade the rims and tires, but the first thing I spent my 2k on was the MCC (McAmour) 'Blue eagle 01' , 3 loop, full front bumper replacement . I paid more to get it fitted by the agent here, because it required cutting plastics around the wheel arches. It's rated and set up for a winch but I don't need a winch yet. I'm glad I made the right decision according to your conclusion. Cheers Brother👍

  • @TORTLESSS
    @TORTLESSS ปีที่แล้ว

    First 2k, a winch bracket + winch. After that I'd prefer to go with front lockers first, I'll use up the treads first or wait for it to puncture till I buy a/t's. Triple locked even with stock height + tires will go almost anywhere I'd say, especially with a winch.

    You are a straight shooter, I'm a subscriber; I respect the perspectives you present in your reviews. However, the OEM MR Triton tyre is a puncture prone, cheap tyre. Yes, the Triton can be had at the right budget, but its price point demands expenditure to make it at least, adequate, in rural, outback, Australian terrain.

    Not all the way through the video yet. But I had to stop to say. Bridgestone duellers are a terrible tyre. I have owned the standard ones that come on a glx+ and they are terrible so I upgraded to 265/75r16 duelers and they got punctured 4 times I had 15xxxkms on them so I ended upgrading to 285/75r16 Goodyear wrangler duratracs and I couldn’t be happier with them. Let’s say you’re working with a little more than $2000 the first few mods you would do to be capable is lift tyres and bullbar for approach and departure angle. I’ve taken my mr through some stuff that most mr tritons will never go through and it’s done it all with ease

    do not buy piak bar mate...heard to many stories of them cracking front headlights due to poor fit and also overheating due to poor air flow.... the quality, fit and finish is not even comparable to the australian made ARB bars. Ive got the summit bar on my gls premium and its fits perfect and the quality is second to none.
    Do not snatch of any non rated point.... i went for the ARB recovery point on mine for piece of mind as its bolted to the chassis sperate to the bull bar.

    I just ordered a MY22 GLX+ , I'm mainly going to use it for a tradie vehicle that will do lots of KM's on the city roads, so fuel consumption and handling is a concern. I have given my Ranger a good time in the Vic high country and have got the 4wd'ing mainly out of my system, but still want something that can do a bit if needed, that's why I got the glx+ with the locker. I have been looking for a hidden winch cradle to fit behind the stock bumper. Rival make a few models but it doesn't list one for the MR yet. Some dudes in asia made up their own one by the looks of it here th-cam.com/video/nkXJldwRuSA/w-d-xo.html So I don't plan on giving mine a hard time, but still want a winch, and don't want to lug an extra 80kg over the front end when 99.9% of the time I have no need for it. Yeah they help in a crash, but I don't plan to do that and the thing has a 5 star ancap anyway, much better than my PK ranger which was 3 star. Wading depth on these looks dangerously low, so I'll put a snork on just for insurance, prob never need it, but the wisest thing to stick on a 4 wheeler IMO, water has a nasty habit of going right where you don't want it.
