    If you're like me you're wondering at the 13:00 min mark why he only calculates the 1 amp across the 4ohm resistor to get the 4 volts, and why he doesn't also consider the .8amps across the 5ohm resistor as well, and the reason is that the potential at point A is the same either way. If you calculate either leg you will end up with 4 volts in both cases. So 4ohm x 1a = 4volts, and also 5ohm x .8amps = 4 volts.

      but why at 23:40 when getting Va from , 6x1.76 is not qual to 5x4 (5ohm resistor) . so why did he chose the 6 ohm resistor path? specific reason??

    how do we know when do we have to use superposition theorem ? is this the same az doing thevenin equivalent circuit ? but for that we don't remove voltmeter and ammeter separately.

    in 4:12 i select the 4 ohm resistor because it "has lesser resistence" that the 12 ohm one right? i mena if they were switched you would choose the 4ohm again?

    If the 4A and 3A current sources flow towards A and B in the opposite direction to conventional current when the battery is hooked up, why wasn't the current in those situations negative (-4A and -3A)? That is where I messed up, so I got the voltages for A and B for those circuits as -10.56V and -5.04V for A, and -3.84V and +1.44 V for B, which then threw everything off when I combined everything.

    I don't understand how while calculating when open circuiting the 5A the 8 ohm resistor is in series with the 12 ohm but while calculating when short circuiting the 60v 5 ohm resistor is now in parallel with the 4 ohm resistor. Kindly assist

    I am still confused on when to use superposition theorem, norton theorem and thevinin theorem

      Norton Theorem and Thevinin Theorem are used to find the current flows through a specific resistor. They both are similar to each other.
      Superposition theorom is used to find all the voltages of every node and current flows through every resistor
      We can use Thevenin and Norton theoroms to find all the voltages of every node and current flows through every resistor
      But usually in the exams they give us what to use. So we have to do what they want us to do😥

    how is the total current of the circit becme the current of the 5 ohm resistor? shouldn't all the current in the circite add up to 7.2 since it is the total current leaving the battery?

      You use the total current in the 5 ohm resistor because the current could not flow anywhere else. The total current goes through the resistor, and because of the resistance, a voltage drop occurs.
      At point A current can now flow in 2 directions (the 4 ohm resistor, and the 12 ohm resistor) hence it breaks into to 6amps and 1.2amps

    I wanted to know if we could use nodal analysis on the entire circuit and do a whole a bunch of equations or would your answer be different.

      Hi, I am in 1st year. I would say that you can use any way to solve the circuit as you wish(including the nodal analysis). The thing is that, we studying different methods of solving circuit diagram because some circuits have more than 1 sources(current source/voltage source) or some circuits have more than 1 loops or more than 1 nodes. In the end, the overall point in studying different methods is just that some methods are more effective, quick and easier to get answer than others.

    why are you using series formula for getting the total resistance for the parallel resistor? the resistance for the 8 ohms and 4 ohms is 22.2 ohms in the video but that is a parallel connection that should be 5.117.

    why did we take 5 ohms and 4 ohms to be parallel when in the same condition before for 12ohms and 8ohms, we considered them in series???

      The current goes through point a, through 12 ohm resistor, then through the 8 ohm. That is a series circuit just through those 3. He then figures out the total resistance between the 4 ohm resistor and the 12 and the 8 which will will call a 20 ohm resistor. The current can either go one direction at point a and go through the 4 ohm resistor, or the other direction to go in the 20 ohm. Since this is a parallel 1/R(total)=1/R1+1/R2…. Therefore 1/4+1/20= 5/20+1/20 or 6/20. 1/R(total)=6/20. R=20/6 or 10/3. No all you have left is the 5ohm resistor whisk is now on series with the combined 4, 12, and 8 ohm resistor which we call a 10/3 ohm resistor. 5+10/3= 15/3+10/3= 25/3 or 8.3333. Hope this helps
