    Okay, I agree. It's a little underhanded, but for the sake of being aware that someone is trying to control you, it's good information. And in the hands of a morally upright person, it could be used to help someone overcome some fears, bad habits, etc.

      +Scott Tumlinson Which is generally what people learn NLP for to be honest. Or to resolve conflict in business, to motivate corporations and produce desired results etc. I am sure that NLP can be used in less favourable ways but it's not what it was originally intended for.
      However, you really need to be aware that this stuff is EVERYWHERE. We are bombarded by sales and societal 'norm' messages continually. These are loaded with NLP patterns, which is how politicians manage such an influence. To be honest, if you are competing with others in any sense of the word, and if you aren't using NLP, then you are behind in your game. It's the world we now live in.

    To the people thinking NLP is something that shouldn't be used or studied more so, I can not insist enough to find out the positive sides of what this can do!
    Depression and anxiety are highly common and the amount of times I've seen lives changed ON THE SPOT from just 10-15 minute sessions openly ones mind.
    This works extremely well, especially along side hypnosis.

    To go somewhere new with your thoughts you need to go beyond of the presumptions we hold. NLP isn't a magic bullet (people who says that are usually talking bs) yet for many specific challenges and changes of behaviour it is highly effective.

  • @jenilyn8705
    @jenilyn8705 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    My problem with this and hypnotherapy (based on experience) is that what is being embedded and told may not actually precisely be what the person needs at that time. Their unconscious may very well be saying "Work on X" or "See X this way.." when the statements by the person using NLB or hypnotherapy doesn't correlate to that, so it doesn't work. Yes, it can work sometimes but not always because of this "block" that can occur -- based on my personal experience anyway.

    I know, right?... btw, I love playing on words. :-)
    Obviously, to someone non-analytical, hearing the word UNconscious places a slight suggestion on them to relax more. Unfortunately, the way my brain works, I'm far too analytical (wish I wasn't so much sometimes) and, together with my OCD, wrecks havoc on my nerves... derailing my train of thought, so-to-speak.
    Have a great day!

    Actually, UNconscious thoughts are the thoughts that we are not aware of and SUBconscious thoughts are the thoughts that have an effect on our conscious life. Unconscious thought would be "mom always said life was hard". SUBconscious thought would be "the news proves how hard life is so I should be a stress filled person." The thought stems from the UNconscious thought about mom while the SUBconscious thoughts gather evidence to prove the correctness of the UNconscious mind.

    HI MrGrevy, although some NLP trained people talk about NLP as a science it is not, nor never has been. In relation to NLP being a scam, given that no studies have tested the entire technology of the field, the generalisation you make is too broad and unsubstantiated. What we can say is millions of people have found it beneficial, to varying degrees (as with all behavioural change technologies) and science does not state anything is a scam.

    Is it? Can an inanimate object or concept be evil? Perhaps only certain people are evil. Anyone can know and do this, but it all comes down to the kind of person and what they use it for. If an evil person uses it, maybe they'll do evil things, but I can imagine good people doing a lot of good with it, too. If you concentrate so much on evil, be careful there. You are/become what you think about. Many Blessings:)

  • @NLPTimes
    @NLPTimes  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    typo - NLP isn't a thing that someone carries. And of course people do go about their day without any knowledge of NLP. And discover new things. Knowing NLP isn't a prerequisite for someone to think something new or go somewhere with their thoughts that they haven't been before.

    What we can say with reasonable confidence is there is insufficient scientific evidence to support either claim (that NLP works or that it doesn't). However, thankfully the world doesn't need to wait for science to catch up with reality before people can use something for their betterment. And something doesn't need to be "true" for it to work.

    How does the person act as a consequence. (Regardless of whether it is true in 'reality' or not).
    True scientists don't close the book and presume they know the "truth" or have 100% certainty. To say that NLP (and the inference that ALL of NLP) is a scam without the entire technology being extensively tested is shortsighted and a gross generalisation.

      You're influenced and manipulated everyday in some way or another. At best a scientific paper from a quality publication can say that no evidence was found to support the hypothesis under test for that specific study.
    And of course science hasn't proven that God exists, yet billions believe in a God. Is God a scam? Some would say yes perhaps, billions of others would say no. As students of NLP we're interested not so much in the 'truth' of something as the impact holding something as true has on a person's nervous system.
