    I have had my 2019 MT09 just over a year now and agree with some of the points you and others have made , but others not so much...for me the standard seat is terrible and makes you slide into the tank, which I sorted by getting the comfort seat. I do regular 300km rides now with no issues. The point you made about short people hitting the engine is not an issue, and being a short arse Its totally fine. The stretch to the horn was for me a stretch of a complaint really..sorry ..lol...since in 36 yrs of riding and owning 20 bikes from different Japanese manufacturers I can honestly say I could count the times I have pressed my horn on any bike on one hand, its just not a thing that I would even consider. But maybe that's just me, for all I know everyone else spams their horn on a daily basis..lol. The throttle can be a little snatchy at times and can catch you off guard, and at higher speeds the front end feels pretty floaty..BUT ....that engine!!!....I have had much faster bikes, but never one that was this much fun, the grin factor wins :)

    I took one out for a test drive a couple of days ago, absolutely insane acceleration. after the first couple of minutes the first thing that went through my mind is that I want to get through this test ride alive. and I really think that dealers should not just be letting anyone get on this bike for a test ride. I have been riding my entire life. and I had a 1984 Ninja 900 which was similar HP. but that bike gets insane after 6 or 7000 rpm. but the Mt09 is like a race horse right from the bottom of the rpm's. and the throttle is a little abrupt. and the front wheel feels like it it a hover board, it never quite feels planted on the ground. my old Ninja felt way more planted and confidence inspiring at any speed. I really feel like if a dealer let some new rider or even an intermediate rider head out on one of these bikes. they might not come back alive. the dealer where I test drove the bike didn't ask me any questions about my riding ability or experience. and after one minute out on the bike. I instantly was talking to myself about how insane the bike was. I road the bike for a half an hour. and it wasn't until the last ten minutes that I started to settle into the bike. where I figured out how to ride it in a more easy manner. because there is something about the bike that makes you want to pull your arms out of your shoulder sockets all the time. but I always had a little bit of fear doing it because of the feeling of the floating front wheel. and as soon as you get up to any kind of speed the wind is hammering into you. I do like how the bike feels light. and how the steering is light feeling at low speeds. but it needs to feel more planted at high speeds. and even off the line. when I dropped the bike off at the dealer I had mixed feeling about it. part of me really liked its raw power and sitting position. but I did not like how light the front wheel felt at speeds. and the wind. and overall I felt like the bike was to insane for me. I am not in my 20's and I do not take as many risks as I used to take. and I don't want to end up being a mangled piece of meet on the side of the road somewhere, and I am actually happy I didn't have this bike in my 20's because I probably wouldn't be around now. now I want to test ride the mt07. I think that might be better suited for me. I just wish it had an upper fairing, I just don't need that insane power all the time of the mt09. and I want to live to be a little older than what I am now.

      @capdink 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My exact same reaction. Rode the 09 first and thought I would die in the first week. Then took the 07, absolutely amazing fun little bike. Can squeeze through tight traffic and can have fun on the highway. Got it for 10 months now and have been riding it a lot. I would recommend the 07 any day. Ride safe and stay safe.

    The MT09 is a seriously great bike but I did have some issues with it. That's why I brought and love my XSR900. The horn button is still in a stupid place and the amount of times that someone cuts me up and instead of honking them I just cancel my indicators is getting beyond laughable. I have also changed out the stock suspension, but I'm a bigish chap so probably would have done that on any bike. I also don't get the quickshifter on a road bike, is it a big issue to just blip the clutch?

  • @exothermal.sprocket
    @exothermal.sprocket 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I hope after nine thousand reviews on social media, Yamaha has seen a universal trend with the MT-09:
    *Rear shock is mush, soft, lacks damping and allows the swingarm to lay too horizontal (pro-squat angle).
    *Seat is lame
    *Throttle control is quite a mess
    *Switchgear is flimsy, lacks feedback and tactility, and button location is flat dumb
    *Every bike in your company lineup has a decent instrument display, but the -09 has to be some whack outlier
    ****I'll add one in here: YOUR FUEL TANK CAPACITY IS TOO SMALL!!!

    • @PresidentDamian
      @PresidentDamian 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I own the 2020 model, the standard seat is shit, I do like how the bike preforms, and steers and YES the fuel capacity is way to small I'm living in Amsterdam and you can hardly make 200 kilometers on a full gas tank. its only 14 liters. but for the price I would recommend the bike. If you tune the bike it will be way better.

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PresidentDamian I do own one. But I'm also tempted by the Z900 which I believe to be better setup from factory. Both of these can gain equally with the same aftermarket mods.

    • @AmritGrewal31
      @AmritGrewal31 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Massive engine braking & sudden jerk when going on/off throttle is there because of bike running lean and (more importantly) the fuel turning off when you are off throttle.
      Why? Emissions & fuel saving.
      What to do about it? Get the ECU tuned & that feature turned off. Simple as that!

    Nice bike, your complaints are completely subjective, for me real complaint it could be if there is something wrong with how the bike mechanically performs. This bike it just great buy although the little not very well thought switches.
    I got question about the bike itself- does the bike shut off after it been working and warming up for over 10 minutes. I noticed this one happened to my bike after stayed and working started rising the temps and then shut off. It looks to be some kind of safety future I am guessing. Thank you!

      It's pretty slow after 80 MPH. I spent a lot of time bouncing on the 133 limiter. My first bike was a ZX6R which hauls ass more than this one due to gearing. I have a ZX14 and it's pretty "boring" because the powerband comes after 6500 RPM, I feel that the VMAX would be a bike to scare me.
      The ZX14 is very very easy to ride at legal speeds because it doesn't wake up until after 140 lol.
