    Love these ideas, Connie! Two other ideas: If you find your paper tears or splits when you run it through, lightly...LIGHTLY...mist it with water before running it through the machine. It loosens up the paper fibers a bit (or some such thing😊). Also, there are some stunning metallic waxes on the market that would look amazing rubbed on top of the embossed image, too! Thanks, Connie!

    Hi Connie, Thank you for all your tips and tricks. For hack 10 I had bought some forms to do the selective embossing several years ago and it never worked for me. I always put them in the EF. It's nice to know it goes on the outside under the EF. I loved all of your great ideas. Thank you for sharing to make our card making better. I use a lot of you ideas in my card making classes. The ladies think I'm really creative. I do give you credit. I take your ideas and add some of my own so it's not an exact replica. Have a great week. • @mzp6620
    @mzp6620 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would add that if you have a brayer handy, that is great for adding ink to your EF and well as your already embossed image. I've found that it keeps the ink on top only and perhaps a bit neater than finger daubers. *I should say it's a bit neater than how "I" apply ink! ha ha 😂

    Love all the ideas you have shared with us. Have learned so many new things today! Thank you for all these great tips! When you used the water brushes to add a little color, did you use the thick white cardstock? Thank you for a great video (as always)!

    • @simplysimplestamping
      @simplysimplestamping  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually used Basic White but the key is to use as little water as possible. In fact, I don't use water at all, I use rubbing alcohol. It dries faster so it doesn't buckle the paper much.

    • @deanettelinville6010
      @deanettelinville6010 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can always LIGHTLY mist your cardstock before you run it through your machine. I use that when I use 3 D embossing folders. Do not saturate, just lightly mist.

    • @simplysimplestamping
      @simplysimplestamping  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can make the unembossed area anything you want and place it anywhere on your cardstock. It doesn't have to be a circle, it can be a smaller shape, whatever you want it to be.

    Hi Connie, I have been enjoying the Craft Hacks, thank you for creating them.
    This may be a daft question, & I'm sorry if it has already been answered, but if this is called 'Dry Embossing' does this mean there is a wet embossing technique or what? x

    For hack #2, does it matter which side of the 3D folder you ink? Did I have a sr moment & muss something?🙄

    • @mary-car
      @mary-car 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jane…I believe you can put the ink on either side. In the video, I was looking to see which side of folder she used - and it was the back side so that is why the fern images looked so amazing. It would have been different if she did the top side (where the SU logo is) because it would be the opposite look. So in the video, she put the ink on the back of EF so it was the debossed side. Hope that helps. (Connie, correct me if Im wrong.)

    • @inkyfeet12
      @inkyfeet12 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try inking a small part of both sides of the folder and run through a small paper to test it -- gives quite a different look to both sides of the paper, as it will be "opposite" parts getting the ink. Kind of depends on the look you may want for a specific project. It's only paper and a small test size can help you decide what's best to use. Even try two different colors/combination of colors for an all-over two or three-toned cardstock. It's fun to experiment and play.

    • @simplysimplestamping
      @simplysimplestamping  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jane, I ink the side that has the raised image so that I can try to keep the ink from getting below the raised part. I hope that makes sense.

    • @simplysimplestamping
      @simplysimplestamping  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the way you think Mary! I test just about everything on copy paper before I jump in with cardstock.

    • @simplysimplestamping
      @simplysimplestamping  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are correct, either side but you will get a different effect depending on what side you use.
