Awesome ideas!
These are amazing. Thank you for the share.
Great video! Thank you for taking the time to show what materials work well.
I do have one question regarding using paper towels, paper napkins, etc. How do they hold up on cards? I would think the minute it got damp or wet it would fall apart not to mention over time I would think it would turn colors.
Thank you for this video💕
These are all very cool but my fave was the vellum because i love vellum.
Great to see how everything works with embossing folders, kitchen towel is definitely an interesting one I will give a try. 😃
All are really cute ❤
Thank you so much Sam I really really enjoyed watching you experiment with your embossing folders and different materials too. Great result’s too. I use aluminium cans in my embossing folders and bigs dies too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags ❤❤❤
I cut up Aluminum drink cans, works a treat.
Fantastic 😍
Great reference video.
Hi Sam. Think the foil is my favourite. Love your videos xx
Very cool video Sam!
I've heated up foam before embossing and it gets a deep impression.
Thank you❤️
I love the velum
Watching the reveal of the embossing folder is like watching the embossing powder change with the heat. It’s so satisfying to watch and never gets old. This is a great video. Thank you for sharing ❤
If you put the aluminum foil on cardstock before embossing. Works great
Brush it down first as well with a skimmer or ruler, it looks like brushed steel. Xx
Love this video, Sam. Could you perhaps do a video showing finished cards using these items? I struggle with card ideas. Thank you! ❤
Very fun! Love your rings. Wish they had a link for sale. Lol
Great demo Sam. I cut up drinks cans ( have to be careful of sharp edges but if die cut as well as embossed it reduces the sharp edges) to emboss as well as ribbon and some fabrics xx
Great ideas! How about ribbon?
Favs are vellum, foil and acetate
This video is so helpful! I love having a reference for what each material will look like. I think the acetate is my favorite, but they're all really neat to see. Thank you for sharing!
TFS
I would just add a sentiment where the writing is in the middle of the paper towel. I loved all your samples. Thanks for sharing. God Bless.
Very helpful tips as always. I really like the acetate embossing . Thank you Sam 😊
Hi Sam I've used satin stuck down to cardstock using double side sheets. The effect was lovely, it was an old nighty that I cut up. I've used denimn from an old pair of jeans and also used a cotton bedsheet which I had torn . It's fun to use old clothing and see the effects. Have fun Xtine
All of the materials showed great promise. I recently found some heavier-duty, kind of handmade paper feel, wallpaper and thought I'd give it a try. It was a very lightly mottled ivory coloredb paper. It worked great and still looks nice. Now I'm on the hunt for more wallpaper discards.😉 I love using new and different materials, as well as using what I already have. Thanks for the ideas.
Wow! Parchment paper, aluminum foil and paper towels, Ah-mazing!!!!! Thanks so much for sharing these ideas!!!!!!
Several layers of toilet paper (spritzed like paper towels) also works. I've also used napkins, washi tape, metallic tape and they all work great.
Ribbon and cotton fabrics emboss well.
Love all of these choices! Great video Sam … thank you.
I think you covered everything. They all are fantastic. Thank you for sharing.
Great ideas! Thank you so much. You always help us look at different materials and think outside the box!!!
Thank Sam loved the parchment paper and glitter paper..
If you're into mixed media, art on canvas, etc. here's another idea for the metal (1st item you used). Cut the metal into strips, each one long enough to cover the sides of a canvas. Add texture to the metal using an embossing folder, pounding it with handles of scissors, etc. Rub the "textured" metal strips with StazOn (has to be an alcohol based ink) and tack them around the edges of your canvas. Years ago I took a class to learn how to transfer an ink jet copy (photo) onto canvas. After the photo was transferred and the canvas was "decorated" (stencils, paste, paint, stamping, etc), we finished the project by tacking the metal strips around the canvas. I'm thinking that "fabric paper" would look pretty cool around the canvas as well! Thanks for demonstrating all those different materials. Fun!!! I wonder if you could put that gold paper (the one that cracked) between damp layers of paper towels to stop the "paper" itself from cracking? Just a thought!
I have cut up boxes that held crackers, ones that the inside has a craft paper look. They are thick but not too thick and emboss extremely well. I’ve used coffee bean bags cut, using the silver side, and it’s beautiful. Yes, alcohol inks and sharpies work well on the “metal” surfaces. I’ve also put ribbon on card stock, in stripes, then embossed and that worked well too. There are many things we all have that will work perfectly. Good information. Thanks so much!
Oh wow, thanks for sharing that info. Gonna try these materials, I'm so excited.
They are beautiful 😍
Some fabulous ideas thank you Sam! x
Beautiful embossing folders. This was a fab and very helpful video to watch. Love all the materials used. Thank you Sam xx
Just beautiful!
Aluminium beer or soft drink cans. Lot of faff to cut and flatten but very good results. Would like to see you try them.
Mind boggling! Thanks Sam.😊
This was great to watch. ❤
Lovely Looking cards ❤❤❤
Love all the possibilities❤️
Thanks Sam. Super helpful!
Loved your experimentation. What about felt? Will it hold the embossing? And velvet cloth? I've used metal duct tape and aluminum tape, applied to paper and then embossed. I used a pipe folder and a rivits folder as well. Great for masculine cards.
So many ideas.
Sandi from BC Canada
What great ideas. Will have to try some of these.
faux leather works well with embossing folders
I just received the Perfect Swirls A5 embossing folder from Craft Stash. I could not get it to run through my Big Shot. So, I finally tried running it through with the same sandwich configuration as when cutting dies - MINUS THE BOTTOM CUTTING PLATE and it worked perfectly.
Fun! Great ideas. I've used ribbon, glued to card. Really cool too!
I embossed the foil lid of e.g. margarine or yogurt, works fantastic like the kitchen tin foil but it’s a little stronger
That sounds interesting! I can't eat dairy, but when my sister-in-law comes to visit, I'll have to cabbage on to her yogurt protective foil. 😊
What a fab idea, i can't eat dairy too, but we have lits of sorts of 100% plantbased margarine, so definately going to try this fab idea, thx!!!!
With the aluminium foil, you can press by hand rather than running through the machine. X
Loving these technique videos, great reference video!
Wow will be trying all these. Thank you very much Sam. Take care ❤
These are all so cool. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve used several layers of foil so it’s sturdier, and colouring with alcohol pens looks amazing
Hey Sam what lovely embossing folder and so many and what fun techniques with the embossing folder ❤ xx
Emboss iridescent cellophane or fantasy film.
Thanks for sharing xxx
Hi. Thanks for sharing this, very impressive results and i love the metal one. Have a great day.😊
Might be able to use the disposable aluminum cookie sheets/baking pans, also, wonder if embossing faux leather would work?
You could emboss ribbon as well
I love them all
I love the acetate idea... great idea
I think you can spritz the baking paper with water to reduce the tearing but not too much or it wrinkles
Thank you so much for sharing. I have so many paper pads that I purchased to use just one or two sheets in my card making. I will be using up in your projects. Great ideas. Love your channel 😊
Lovely 😊
Sam that’s a very informative tutorial, very much appreciated, thank you 👏👏x
Napkins!
Love them all. Now I need to see some things made with them. 😊
Hello Sam. Great tutorial, When I use kitchen foil, I usually use 3-4 layers depending on the thickness. Beautiful folders you've shown, they're all so pretty.
🤗
Loving This 10 Materials Using Embossing Folders Tutorial Girl.
Turnout Beautiful!!!
🤩🤩🤩
Sizzix has texture rolls that are 12" x 48" that are the same type of fabric paper. It can be stitched, embossed, folded, crushed etc. and it retains the pattern. It's amazing with embossing folders. I like that you get so much and it comes in so many colors.
Napkins and embossing folders
Hi Sam, yet another great video to watch and learn from. Lovely folders with great results. Thank you as always x
Love all of them 🤩
I have never used anything but paper, but I will now. Those are amazing!.
Wax paper works fantastic and if you place it between two sheets of cardstock and iron it works as a resist effect and you get a positive and negative impression
superbes merci !
😊love the video
Obrigada!
They are beautiful but I have a question. What can you use besides Alcohol ink. It gives me a terrible headache 😢😢😢
Enjoyed the video. I've adhered color duct tape and silver vent tapes to cardstock to emboss with embossing folders as well as aluminum foil.
Great video! And I loved you saying the Pound store as our Dollar store!!😊
This was great, thank you. It has really stirred up some ideas for me. I think that the starburst would look great done on acetate.
Awesome ideas! :)
Oh wow! Some materials here that I haven't embossed yet. TFS 🙏💙💜🏆
Great video, Sam! Thank you for testing all of these materials and sharing your results with us. I really like the way the metal embosses, it looks fantastic and durable, the only thing that makes me hesitate is the edges and how sharp they might be, and whether they might cut someone? I think the aluminum might be a better alternative - I'd just use a much heavier-weight aluminum foil vs. the one you showed in the video. I'm surprised by the foam, I thought it might revert back to being mostly flat or lose a lot of its detail, so thank you especially for showing that one! :)
Surprised to see you put the paper shim inside the folder with the foam. I have a selection of different weight card and paper (which I don't like the colour, pattern or texture of) to use as shims, and I always put them between the plate and the folder. I think it prevents that line from forming on your embossing material.
Love the results of the metal one ❤it’s my favourite. X
I bet if you used that heavy duty foil that we use when we go camping would work amazing. We always get it at Costco and have a lot of it forever so if I snuck some from the roll in the craft room it wouldn’t even be missed. 😂😂
Sam, this was fun to watch. 😊 I really loved the glitter cardstock one especially, although all of them were nice!
I would like to see 2 ml leather embossed if possible please..
They are great Sam. I ha e a generic plaid folder that I used with paper towel, and it looks great. Thanks Sam❣️🇬🇸
Amazing embossing folders 🥰 I love the embossing folders and your informative tutorial ❤️ thanks for sharing your creativity Hugs xx
I’ve used vinyl fabric with my embossing folders, which worked well. X
Waxed paper or freezer paper
