    This video was great. Just replaced my bearing using this video. I was a little nervous when the old bearing split apart and half was still left behind. But a few hits with a punch and hammer from the back, got the rest of the old bearing out. Thanks, you saved me a bunch. I will definitely recommend your site.

    If you're planning on replacing the hub & bearing on A 2000-2005 Buick Century and you're more northeast, expect the 34mm socket for the axle nut to be 35mm(rust and corrosion) lol, found this out the hard way. But nonetheless, amazing straight forward video. Save yourself some easy money with this!

    I bought the wheel bearing hubs from 1A Auto. Received them in about 3 business days. Performed the job on my 2001 Buick LeSabre in about 3 hours. I got a loaner 34mm socket from AutoZone and returned it after the job... no charge. This video exactly matched my car. A great resource!

    I just changed mine today on my 2003 Lesabre. Just thought I would mention the lock tight the factory uses on the bearing bolts. It is some sort of space agaed super strong stuff. lol It was almost impossible to get the bolts out with a ratchet. I rounded off one bolt but got it out. What a job!

    When torque the hubs down, torque them to the correct settings with a torque wrench (if you haven't tried this already). Sometimes people like to impact them on, which could cause premature wear. Hope this helps you out.

    • @joycelwoychik603
      @joycelwoychik603 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel perhaps you shouldn't have shown yourself using an impact to put it on "temporarily" as you say since this is an instruction video. Otherwise, great video as always.

    Thanks for the video---note for other watchers I had to use an axle puller instead of hitting the axle with a hammer. The axle nut on my lesabre was on so tight I broke a breaker bar --I could only get it off with a impact wrench. When torquing the axle nut at the end don't load the weight of the car --torque it unloaded

    You do not need to take the caliber out of its bracket. Just unbolt the bracket and the caliper will come off with it. Use a flathead screwdriver to compress the caliper piston before you loosen the bracket bolts. Then the whole assembly will slide off of the rotor in 1 piece. Albeit the brake pads will be loose in the caliper but it’s manageable enough and it’s worth it in the long run.

    i want to wonder to. hummingg....? i guess it could be a humming noise. I get a sort of grinding sound when i turn left or right, but its not a click so i dont think its cv joints. i really notice the noise when I have a car full of people. i thought I just had some heavy ppl in my car lol. I get a wobbling feel like my tires gonna fall off. does this description sound like wheel bearings? i have 2001 lesabre!! excellent vidoe btw.

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You will be able to tell that the hubs are bad by checking for any play in the hub to bearing housing or you will hear a growling noise that grows with the speed of the vehicle.

    I can't thank you enough for this video. I did the procedure earlier today exactly as in this video in a friend's garage and the drive home was nearly perfect. The vibration I was experiencing from the old hub is gone, but now there's a sort of very light click that I hear coming from the same wheel (front right) every rotation of the tire.
    It sounds very much like a thin and insubstantial piece of metal being "flicked" rhythmically, like a baseball card in a bicycle spoke or the tab on a soda can. Is it possible I bent the metal dust cover and now there's a momentary interference with the wheel during motion?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You way want to turn the wheel by hand to see if you can tell where the noise is coming from. It may be something like a dust shield hitting the rotor, or another component that's making contact with something that's rotating in there. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393

    Just a couple quick points.
    My vehicle is an "02" Pontiac Bonneville, essentially the same vehicle as the Le Sabre except of course the body style and interior details.
    My wheels are different as I don't have the center hub cap that allows easy access to the retainer nut on the axle while the wheel is on the ground, so I had to loosen the lug nuts, jack up, and secure the vehicle on a jack stand, remove the wheel, then put a stick from the brake pedal to the front seat to lock up the wheel and use a breaker bar with the big socket. Use breaker bars to break nuts loose and then use ratchets.
    Open the master cylinder on the brake system before depressing the caliper so you are not trying to work against the hydraulic pressure in the system. I don't like the big screwdriver on the pads method, I use the big C-clamp method that most repair manuals will illustrate. Don't just set the caliper up on the under carriage like that because if it falls down it can damage the rubber brake line on it. Secure it with a zip tie or tie wire.
    DO NOT, FOR ANY GOOFY REASON PULL THE AXEL SPINDLE SHAFT OUT TOWARDS YOU, OR ALLOW IT TO COME TOO FAR OUT AND DISCONNECT FROM THE CV DRIVE TRAIN.

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there a specific torque rating for the CV nut?

    • @badejenkins
      @badejenkins 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joe Lala the video actually states the torque setting after he has the wheel back on and it is back on the ground for the CV nut.

  • @johnbranam967

    with a bad wheel bearing on both sides of the front end would that make your front end shake around 35 to 40mph

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +John Branam That could definitely be a symptom of a bad bearing, but like always we recommend you have the vehicle looked at by a reputable mechanic if you are unsure what the issue is! Thanks, 1A Auto

    A 34mm socket may or may not be the correct size. I needed a 33mm socket for my 2003 LeSabre. It has 16" wheels.

    • @jhonnyjhomey

      NO , 34 mm

  • @michaelbrown2112

    34mm is too small for a buick century. going to grab a 35 see if that will work.

    • @michaelbrown2112
      @michaelbrown2112 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I ended up being wrong. A 34mm is what should have been used, but maybe the previous owner got the wrong part. Perhaps, why I needed a new wheel hub.

    informative but his hands don't have a single spec of dirt or anything on them. try this up in Northeast Ohio where you'll break every single brake bleeder.
