The music, the graphics, the controls, the cut scenes, the great challenge, absolutely love this game. One of the best on the NES in my opinion.

Sunsoft games usually did, nothing beat Konami though.

Oh gotta give you a “like” for playing one of my favorite games of all time. A few years ago I bought a sealed copy on eBay for $50. It sits on my shelf with Super Mario 3.

Sunsoft really knew what they were doing on the NES! This and Batman are really top NES games when it comes to graphics (and they're generally good games too imo).

@@andreavassallo1058 Yes, iirc it used an expanded memory bank for sprites and possibly also audio. Wouldn't be surpised if Gremlins used one too, considering the quality and size of sprites and how it was released relatively late.

Like Legend of Zelda. For Metroid NES, I would tape together graph paper and would go screen to screen drawing out everything on the graph paper making a map. That's the only way I was able to beat the game. I had a huge thing of graph paper that had a Zelda map and another one that had a Metroid map. I wish I had kept them.

Mike, on GI JOE Atlantis Factor If you press select if switches to your gun and each character has a different gun but you have limited ammo for it, it is actually one of my favorite games, its really good once you understand the mechanics.
Mike should give Lone Ranger more than 5 minutes. Probably one of the better NES titles.
I have beaten the game many years ago. I was just messing around with the games briefly at the end of the stream. Lone Ranger was fun

When Mike is talking about Shit Pickle. That reminds me of the Wacky Deli Rocko episode, Ralph wanted to destroy Wacky Deli because it meant nothing to him, and wanted make the worlds biggest and greatest sculpture work of art because that was his true passion, but no one gave a shit about that, and only loved wacky deli. Probably because your passion is unique to you, and only you, and so no one else can personally connect with it. But if you create something you think is stupid as shit, that will have more appeal to others because stupid shit tends to be more memorable, and gives people that dopamine rush, and so people just prefer and enjoy dumb simple crap lol

SunSoft makes some good Nes games Like Batman, Blaster Master, and Journey to Silius not to mention the music great playthrough, Mike glad to see you play it

I can tell you seriously wanted to beat this game. Thexder is a joke on the NES, and the only good version was on the NEC 8800 machine - like who's ever heard of that?
Man, that Ufouria game is ahead of its time. It looks like something that would've been created today, like a modern retro title. It has a certain aesthetic that seems relevant today.
You could say Getsu is the Ancestor of Zangetsu from Curse of the Moon.
I remember beating this game 10+ years ago. I dedicated a day to it and I ate dollar store Doritos. Love this game and your twitch streams are really good.

Mike, Defender of the Crown is an amazing game. I used to play it on MS-DOS. It's a good thing you checked it out for 20 seconds, and decided that it's bad.

the heart upgrade lasts for all your lifes, so that's literally the very first upgrade you should take on this game instead of an extra life. you can take this upgrade up to 2 times I think where you have 5 hearts per life, totally worth it.
the power up ugrades are very powerful (you can take 2 of them I think too), especially near the end of the game with the bow that becomes completely broken. also it makes the bosses easy as hell.
extra lifes are good for beginners, but this makes the game harder when you approach the end of the game if you only take that as you still die easily and have hard time killing enemies.
balloons can sometimes be worth it to buy for the latest stages as you can just skip a huge portion of a stage by using it, instead of being harassed by a million enemies and dying.
so basically, all those upgrades are good, but if you want to take heart upgrades, the sooner, the better.
God, I miss Wawa. I haven't had it in years, not since I lived in PA.
Has Mike ever played The Guardian Legend on his stream before? I thought I remember him mentioning it in a video somewhere... That's a fun one.

Defender of the Crown is actually a great strategy game, one that I've logged more hours playing than any other NES game, at least as an adult. When I got it as a kid I hated it and never played it until I was in my late 20s. But it would not make great AVGN material, it has few elements other than the map and some siege/battle scenes.

@@mikematei since i have your attention. Play through cobra triangle if you havent. You can beat it in under an hour once you get good at it. Good game not a lot of time investment.

RoboWarrior has a lot more depth to it than you realize, however fully understand how this game would discourage someone to play it. At first glance it does not look like much. Music is banging though. :)
I am sure you have an influx of games, but if you are into FPS rogue-like games, I highly recommend gunfire reborn on steam. The first character you get to play as is a cat, how bad can that be? lol
Since your a fan of shoot em ups, you should play Gyruss for the NES. It's quite unique and it's made by Konami.
I didn't hear "fist of the Northstar" on the best NES games list
trust me this Iron Sword is a true gem, give it a chance, your in for a treat! it's not easy but so are other more popular titles.

LOL it'd have been hilarious had the password been "NERD" at 5-1 but it's always the same, every game, every cartridge, anyone who plays.
I wish Nintendo would do an original NES Metroid digital release where they modified it by putting a map on it. Not having an in game map really ruins the gameplay on the original NES version of the game.
Sunsoft nailed it on making license games. LJN shouldn't have kept getting all the license deals during the NES.

this was one of those few games i actually could finish when i was a little kid, metroid was too confusing, mario was too hard with its life system and kirby was just dull as shit, chip and dale was the other one i could finish too

In Zen Intergalactic Ninja each level is different. There are only 2 isometric stages in this game, you just one of this one at the beginning.
