This one feels so familiar at the start. It's exactly like I just walked into my friend's house and he's in the zone with a game, so I don't say anything just sit down to watch, because I've been there a million times too. That's the feeling you replicate, of when kids would sit and watch each other play these games. Takes me right back.
Exactly! Didn't watch the stream, so for him to start this video with him dying and screaming in frustration, before slapping that reset button with all his might...
Just quietly take my seat and piece what's happening together myself.
I'm here for the rage and skill, and I'm never disappointed!
I remember when I bought an SNES Classic I played at least a little of every game on it, and when I played this game, for the first ten seconds I was like “Wow! This is badass!”; then my reaction quickly changed to “Holy shit this game is hard as fuck!!!!”😂

16:40 I lost my shit as a kid playing that part, the sound of the claws ripping the door are forever in my head.
my favourite part was the "fucking come on" (resets the game) after dying at the start of level 1. No matter how good you are, Contra can always do that.
I love when your so pissed off that even the time it takes for the game to reset aggravates you💯😂

I can run Contra and Super C with no continues, but this one kicks my ass. I can beat it but I've never even attempted Hard mode. Mike, you are a legend, look forward to the next game you crush
I could never make it passed like level 4 or 5 even with the life code, the game just moves way too fast for me
@@dannysummers4591 Ah, it's a fast game on Hard mode but I got used to it and beaten it. Both Laser and Crush Missiles are the main 2 weapons you want through the whole game, heck Laser should be owned at all times once you get it.

Hard mode start with default settings for lives, is harder than it looks sometimes, no death is even harder, it may be possible but you really need to do everything right for that, great run by the way.
I done no death on this game years ago and I can say that crush missiles, laser and flamethrower are the 3 main weapons you would want throughout the game with having laser at all times once you get it.

Love that at the 4:00 there’s already swearing and screaming but either way great run dude that trick you guys do at the eyes of the final boss is amazing !!!!
I was so tense watching the boss fight at 20:30. Mike I don't know how you do it; I can barely watch it, let alone play it!
Homing missiles makes that boss fight easier, but yeah with other weapons it can be intense.

I like these kinds of challenges a lot;
there is something intense and exciting about trying to make the best out of the lives that you start with during a really hard playthrough, and then try to collect more extralives throughout the game.

I never beat this game solo, back in the day I beat it with a friend and we beat it on regular difficulty. Later we found out via Nintendo Power that you either had to beat the game on "hard" or go through the second loop to get the "real ending." So, it was back to the start with my friend and it took us awhile to "git gud" at the "hard" difficulty but we finally beat it after at least 3 weeks of working on it. GG.
No gratuitous swearing and no nonsense talk are Mike's best videos.

Finally got this game today and played it on Normal difficulty with 3 lives in my first 2 attempts, then on my third attempt, played it on Normal with 7 lives. Such a challenging game. Can't get past the third stage boss and game over'd on the boss. That's the best I can do. No way am I playing it on Easy.
its funny how Castlevania 4 was so chill compared to the first three games, but this game makes Contra and Super C feel like a walk in the park

This has always been my personal favorite Contra game, everything about it is awesome, the graphics, the music, the only thing i never cared for is the top down stages, i wish they all could have been side scrolling, but aside from that this game is a masterpiece imo, GG Mike.

what is with all the hate for homing missiles and fire? I usually used homing for most levels and saved fire for the bosses.

Yeah I done Contra NES and Super C without dying as well and it took me a few years to do Contra 3 without dying on hard.

Not sure how the fuck you beat the stage 3 miniboss with the drill on hard mode, it's so unpredictable that you get fucked by rng since it bounces when it hits the wall. I can beat it on normal easy
Usually you want to stay up top and then when it decides to try to drill you move to the bottom then repeat that until you destroy it.
