They were using the older Borg Warner transfer case for the AWD the torque split is full time 38% front and 62% rear and 1st gear is limited, also the rear diff ratio was change with the 6-speed ZF to 2.72 so 1st and 2nd are not the best but from 3rd through to 5th (which is 1:1) you can get some serious speed out of the Turbo Territory (both versions). As to why they did not sell? Fuel economy and poor marketing by First, at the time buyers wanted turbo diesel for Territory , it was not until the SY that happened but Ford chose the wrong engine.

Hey Ross, did this F6X have any problems like the Ford Territory with the FG BARRA in it? I know they had a big problem with engine failure or something like that hence why they didn't continue it. 👍
@@RossReviewsauNah Its hardly a mod mate ;) The Territory turbos come with two pipes going into the rear muffler, one of them had a "bung" (looks like a big metal bottle cap) in it, its literally like a cork that blocks the pipe! Ford obviously thought the Territory needed quietening after the fact. To remove, you take the bloody bulky and heavy muffler off and hammer and ram a 1 meter long steel rod into it to bash the bung out! Takes a bit doing though lol ...It frees up the exhaust and gives the Terras a nice growl whilst maintaining the stock look. Great vid as usual mate!
this was the best version of the Territory but the territory itself failed overall because Ford was late to the SUV party and had to compete with already well established models that were established in the mid 90's and developed like the Rav4, Xtrail, Kluger etc, Ford started from scratch and never really caught up
in that way they may have been late.. but i feel they were early with this car.. as almost ever SUV now has a supercar variant lol if only they waited a few years and put a 310 barra in her... or supercharged MIAMI! oh man
This actually wasn’t a bad suv and considering most manufacturers now a days are making these types of cars I don’t understand why Ford went out of business
Never new this existed , not that I could afford one. Seems there's some untapped potential in the territory. Pity they didn't put a V8 in there , ute/ tray back , manual box
@@RossReviewsau I think so!. Looked at a stocker a few years back the price was right but no need for a 7 seat wagon , should tow alright.. Seen a utube vid AU awd using territory bits interesting.
This model was okay but the effort should've been put into the wagon it would be a German estate killer and to boot I seen someone give the wagon the fpv treatment sunroof, manual it was insane.
I've wanted to do it myself, haven't found the right shell for the alternate sleeper. Especially when the Ute's parts driveline, bodywork etc are a direct swap with the wagon.
Time to find a HSV avalanche for a comparison... then a terri turbo against an LX8 adventra maybe. I can hook you up with an LX8 when you come to the east coast
YES! ive been looking.. here in perth its a rare sight! ive only see 1 or 2 ever here.. back in NZ tho i seen a lot.. weird lol im very keen to chase down one
My brother owned a Territory Turbo a few years ago and offered it to me for trade in value but l wanted to hang on to my FG and l am now regretting that decision and someone out there got a real good unit it’s a case of you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone unfortunately! If you add up all the Territory sales and combine them with all the Falcon sales as the Territory was Based on the Falcon platform the product was a very successful more and more so than Holden’s 4WD version of its wagon, also I’m not a real fan of diesels but l reckon if Ford would have made a Falcon version with the Territory’s V6 diesel ( maybe even a twin turbo ) instead of the ill fated 4 cylinder eco boost model maybe Ford would still be building the car even Jaguar has a diesel 4 door sedan and imagine an AWD Turbo version of the FG with the Territory’s driveline! Anyhow a good video, cheers!
Very true! Always instant regret after a sale unfortunately 😅 the territory’s where great and did sell well it’s only the F6X that really bombed as the price was steep.. would have been great to see other engine options like a diesel
Did you know the exhaust is so restrictive its not funny and de tuned as well, a F6 typhoon is the real deal, but do the exhaust and cold air intake turbo and intercooler and you have a real quick AWD territory, around a 10's sec big 2 ton car if you get it right?
I’m absolutely looking forward to this Brother, I’ll be chatting live with you and can’t wait to see the Holden VE Commodore Special Edition review. I should hopefully have a poison ivy Holden VE Commodore Special Edition coming to my channel this month. From Jordan’s car reviews.
Not Gunna be able to make 310 without doing a fmic. Those topmounts are horrible that's why they left the 270 in there. So they wouldn't have to redesign the bonnet and top mount or do a new front mount design.

@@HereIsMyOffer cheers for the info!
this was the best version of the Territory but the territory itself failed overall because Ford was late to the SUV party and had to compete with already well established models that were established in the mid 90's and developed like the Rav4, Xtrail, Kluger etc, Ford started from scratch and never really caught up
in that way they may have been late.. but i feel they were early with this car.. as almost ever SUV now has a supercar variant lol if only they waited a few years and put a 310 barra in her... or supercharged MIAMI! oh man
This actually wasn’t a bad suv and considering most manufacturers now a days are making these types of cars I don’t understand why Ford went out of business
It was a really good suv! If only they had come out with the 310barra and had maybe waited a few more years they would have timed it much better
Passed up the opportunity to snag one of those up early this year for 18,000 nzd but couldn't justify it. Probably should of just brought it
DAMN! that hurts.. would be safe to say they are double that now
Fantastic cars. Easily one of the best fords in the last 20 years. Woule love one but so freaking hard 2 find
very unique! loved having a closer look at this.. very rare
Never new this existed , not that I could afford one.
Seems there's some untapped potential in the territory. Pity they didn't put a V8 in there , ute/ tray back , manual box
lots of people have never even seen one! really cool car
@@RossReviewsau I think so!.
Looked at a stocker a few years back the price was right but no need for a 7 seat wagon , should tow alright..
Seen a utube vid AU awd using territory bits interesting.
Theres one that lives in busselton.. I really want it 😍
They’re are a few around WA! They are so nice love em
Best SUV ever made 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
BEAST EH!
A build like this, blacked out and lowered, boy that'd be sexy
That’s what I’m talking about! And modify it to push 400kw🥵
Credit to the owner, that thing is immaculate
BIG TIME! was in showroom spec
These are a really good looking car
love them eh! super cool
mine is 1025HP but also not an F6X, I wouldn't devalue any fpv car with mods.
holy hell! haha 1000hp turbo territory thats epic mate! its true to keep them as looking stock to maintain collectability
This model was okay but the effort should've been put into the wagon it would be a German estate killer and to boot I seen someone give the wagon the fpv treatment sunroof, manual it was insane.
ive always wished they had of kept the wagon.. a FG 310 wagon how cool
I've wanted to do it myself, haven't found the right shell for the alternate sleeper. Especially when the Ute's parts driveline, bodywork etc are a direct swap with the wagon.
@@vortex925 hope you get it done one day very cool
Time to find a HSV avalanche for a comparison... then a terri turbo against an LX8 adventra maybe. I can hook you up with an LX8 when you come to the east coast
I have two LX8s I still use for work. Great cars. A bit ahead of their time as well. They do like a drink of petrol though.
YES! ive been looking.. here in perth its a rare sight! ive only see 1 or 2 ever here.. back in NZ tho i seen a lot.. weird lol im very keen to chase down one
I love that car but in particular I love this six-cylinder engine with turbos on it that car is super ultra rare you can't find this in road
the engine is easily the best part :)
@@RossReviewsau yep that engine with turbos fast as af in a straight line drives like a flash
If only Ford had given the poor old BF wagon the same treatment.
i know right! would have loved to see a FG 310 Wagon!
For the first time i wish it was raining during this review.
Unfortunately I don’t think the owner would have liked that😅 or my cameras 📸
The ford territory f6 must be a collector's car
its definitely a collectors car!
That's nice
Did you know the exhaust is so restrictive its not funny and de tuned as well, a F6 typhoon is the real deal, but do the exhaust and cold air intake turbo and intercooler and you have a real quick AWD territory, around a 10's sec big 2 ton car if you get it right?
yeh just like my typhoon a simple tune and breathing mods the car goes 400kw lol
Grrrrip! What turbo falcons lack
lol yes! this one has all the GRIP!
I have a turbo territory 2006 with 270 kW and I'm getting 12 Litres per100 new oxygen sensor and computer reset to e10 fuel
Sounds about right I guess awd
I’m absolutely looking forward to this Brother, I’ll be chatting live with you and can’t wait to see the Holden VE Commodore Special Edition review. I should hopefully have a poison ivy Holden VE Commodore Special Edition coming to my channel this month. From Jordan’s car reviews.
cheers as always jordan!
Great review of a great car. My only complaint is that it wasn't long enough 😁
HAHA.. you can watch it again ;)
Hey John, what was the link to the f6x rspec video? I cant find it. Tia
Sorry I forgot to link it.. just type F6X into TH-cam and it’s the first video
Matttteee I'm calling clickbait cause I already knew abt this car 😂
your one of the few then ;) its a hidden gem this F6X
There are 3 of these on CarSales at the moment and prices are ranging from 30-50K
What a wicked car!!!
SO GOOD EH!!!
The amount of these produced isn't really settled. Some say 229 were made, 251 or 300+. I really can't get a straight answer.
251 made. First 22 were “prototypes” 229 were ordered by public.
@@TOWIEdotcom ah ok I didn't know the 'pilots' were included.
it is a varied number but enough people who know their stuff had confirmed with me its 251 made..
Not Gunna be able to make 310 without doing a fmic.
Those topmounts are horrible that's why they left the 270 in there. So they wouldn't have to redesign the bonnet and top mount or do a new front mount design.
These are still 270 motors tho out the typhoon I’m tho.. not the FG
I met bloke the other day in Perth got a white one with 700hp killer
oh wow really thats very cool! tell him to come on the channel HAHA.. sounds a weapon
@@RossReviewsau next time he comes to my work I’ll show him ya channel
@@johns1721 legend!
Ohh Yeah!! Bring it!!
hope you enjoyed it bro
If you have a spare 40k, build number 1 is on sale in WA 😁
Nice mate,I've never seen one but it's got a f#% Barra so that's all you need to know Johnny lol & your merch should fly out the door man great designs & good quality gear, looking forward to wearing the shirts & hoodie I ordered & top vid as always buddy.
Thanks Pete! Always appreciate the support I think they have sent you a added bonus also🤫. Hope you enjoy the merch
An F6 FG AWD would have been the ultimate ! BARRA-ZILLA ! 👌😁
HOW GOOD WOULD IT HAVE BEEN!!!
There's an AWD G6E turbo getting around the interwebs
@@hdtgroupa3283 ive seen it online does 0-100 in like sub 4 seconds eh
@@RossReviewsau yeah indeed.. 4 sec flat, thinking that'd be a nice replacement for our FGII F6, one day..
@@hdtgroupa3283 sick upgrade thats for sure
Just found one for sale in New Zealand for $26000
Very rare
Was faster then I thought ay. Bloody nice suv old Ford pulled off with this one
not bad for a ford eh mike ;p we have a HSV VF comparison coming soon you will froth for haha
@@RossReviewsau yeah yeah nar not to shabby for a ol Ford mate. Hmmm bloody oth will be great to get some HSV action. Adolf Gladys won't let me take mine out more then 10ks I reckon a 7 week refund on bloody rego is in order.
@@mikenolan3060 i reckon mate! lol not being able to drive your LS for that long is un australian
Barra in a AWD.. Interesting
If only it wasn’t so fat lol needs a tune to come on boost faster
Only thing stopping me buying one 2 years ago was the Mrs.
The fuel bill
And
She knew I'd modify it 😂
Fuel bill will add up.. but man it would be quick with a tune and bolt ons
When ya want an fpv and ya misses wants an suv
yup good compromise
I drove one of these when they came out but the 350 kms per tank of petrol just didnt make the cut lol ..
Thirsty yes
I first tough it was a subaru 😅🤣
HAHA its a sleeper ! a F6 barra with a top mount intercooler ;p
I gather you havent seen the fullboost vids of the 1500hp awd territory… and a 1200hp, 1000hp.
I’ve seen a few of them
@@RossReviewsau those barras are solid engines, butfor the std drivetrains to also take those numbers without breaking just reinforces how good the baseline packages were. Ford really dropped the ball in maximising the export potentiol for those vehicles
@@gfenwick1 100% all FPVs should have been sold internationally
As great as this was, they were steep in price hahaha
You got that right! was not a cheap vehicle when it came out..
Ayoo Ross, so I've been inspired by all of the channel vids of performance cars to get rid of the diesel daily and just went and bought a 2006 Territory Ghia Turbo, and I thank/blame you 🤣🤣 not quite as tidy as this (only cost me $8K! Not bad for Perth) nor is it an F6X, but you've not got any vids in the lower power sibling of these yet 😜😜
No vids on the turbo terry yet but would be a good video! They are awesome things sounds like a good buy 😈
@@RossReviewsau Maybe one day when I've gotten some TLC done to it and a little extra boost, you could give it a burl around 😏😏
Wouldn’t say it was ahead of its time AMG AND BMW where making performance SUVs way before this car
it came out before every single manufacturer started doing hard core performance SUVs its not the first but it was early to the party the bigger manufactures could afford to wait
AMG ML63 BMW X5 M we’re out a couple years earlier just to name two Land Rover sport had a supercharged car out then two
My family has build number 001 🤤
😱😱😱 wow
Hold onto it.
We had build number 2 which was the first released to public but sold it. Your sure yours isn't a pilot?
I saw p001 on carsales, is that one yours?
Needs a tune lol, nearly as fast as yours
My car is desperate for a tune!🤣
Lol that’ll never happen, your to busy on the au 😁
