My mum took me to a Ford dealership back in around 2008 - 2009 I think while she was buying a Focus. They had a GT there and I immediately fell in love I would have been around 11 or 12 years old. The sales guy could tell I loved the GT and went out of his way to move a bunch of other cars to take me for a drive in it knowing full well we weren't buying it. One of my fondest memories it was comfortable and powerful, and he revved the guts out of it at every red light I had the biggest smile on my face. I hope one day I can own one.

All Miami V8 powered falcons including the FPV Gt's, GtPs, gtfs, fgx xr8, sprints etc all have the overboost function. This one goes from 335 kw to 380kw on overboost which is huge and explains why it feels so much quicker than the stang
“Transient overboost” as ford called it. The FG X XR8 sprint’s transient overboost reaches 400 kw while the GT F reaches 410kw-420kw depending on what source you get it from. That being said, ford’s engines are hand built and ford’s power claims have always been lower than actual power output 99% of the time. The most classic example of ford and fpv’s under claiming their power figures (and Holden and HSV over claiming theirs) is the GT F vs GTS dyno test that wheels did. The GTS was supposed to monster the GT F but the GT F ended up humiliating the GTS.

i bought a 315 gs brand new in 2013. did a stage 1 kpm kit which was an air filter and respectable tune backed by factory warranty. ran 12.1 @ 117mph left in drive with aircon on and stock tyres. they are just a mad engine combo.
In the Us gen2 coyotes (15-17) make 435 hp and 400 lb-ft. Australia did the coyote platform a disservice not having VVT on all 4 cams and factory intercooling all production vehicles with the supercharged coyote engine. None the less the FPV and FGX vare very unique vehicles wish I could own one.

Had the XR8 BOSS in a BA and the last XR8 SC 5.0 (unfortunately the auto as couldn't find a new manual) and it was chalk and cheese. Brilliantly matched with the SC. I was also considering a Mustang at the time but it was a minimum 6 month wait for a new one. If there was no wait, I probably would have bought the Mustang - because it's a Mustang!

Late to the party but I’m from the US and would love both of these cars. The FPV reminds me a lot of a 2006 Chrysler 300 SRT8. Doesn’t handle as well as a sports car but can carry your family, groceries, and absolutely take off in a straight line. Not to mention the FPV has a very unique sound in comparison to what I’ve seen in the states. Really wish we could’ve gotten the Miami to pair with the Coyote!
I had a 2009 SRT8, which came with 425bhp from the factory; despite weighing about the same as a house it wiped the floor with any FPV or HSV I ever tangled with. Great car.
Mustang looks more interesting but I think I’d want the GT, I’m excited for this. Haha I hope you break some Australian hearts and go for the mustang 😁😁
Great comparison and yes all aspirated Aussie FPVs have overboost. I have an FPV and I am truly at a loss about every motoring journalist saying the seating and steering wheel position are an issue, however it must be because everyone says it. My FPV is perfect with all its faults😄! Mine is a Fg Viper coloured Super Purstuit ute with auto art wheels ( simmons) 14.5 inch rears with 355 pzeros enormous deep off set to the outside and 9inch fronts colour coded to the car. Trutrak with heavy duty shortened 28 spline axles and over size bearing. Huge flared rear arches. Herrod suspension herrod tune herrod exhaust, Herron cold air induction and Ford Racing Cams from the states, shaker. It looks nuts, it drives nuts and every where I go people love it. It looks really tough. The next thing I will do is flare the front (+30mm) to change the outers on the 3 peice wheels to run 10.5 inch 285 x 30 front which will include a hugely time consuming job of flaring the front bar to match the guards. That will be my 6 month part time job. Then high stall and shift kit and maybe a yellow terra supercharger with around 530 killerwasps and that is it. Maybe pull the plastic tub liner out and aluminium line it....let's see. Thank you Ross. It certainly is a pity that Ford just didn't evolve the dash board on all the falcons from 2009. The Fg is still a gorgeous looking vehicle but the dash is in my case 12 years behind the style of the vehicle. I say because my ute looks as good or better than any current vehicle on the road but then there is the 2009 dash.
i think its the dash.. my Typhoon feels 10X better in terms of driving position and steering feel.. but besides that the FGs killed it on just about everything.. i just find the seat to high and the wheel to low.. but im sure you get used to it lol

I like the falcon, I've seen the mustang before, nice car also. I'm not so sure about a v8. People say that the falcon interior is plain, but some people prefer a simpler less cluttered layout. I've also seen the falcon as a no nonsense man's car. I like the more squarish mirrors and headlights of the falcon. I'd like to see the v8's with a turbo instead of the supercharger.
Always been a Holden man. But have a 2016 WRX at the moment, was thinking of going an STI as wrx too slow, but now watching reviews on Mustangs, definitely in my opinion a much better looking car than falcon, but each to their own. If I go the Mustang it’s gotta be 2020 or newer, 460hp, GT all the way.
Im a ford guy but honestly no FPV really looks special and the interior is just yuck.My Mustang is Sublime to look at inside out..let alone the power and handling..sorry FPV ...Mustang all the way espesh the 10R80 is silky smooth and lightning fast.
The FPV GT is exactly that, a grand tourer. Its about eating miles, bags of torque, carrying 5 people, plenty of luggage space and even achieving decent fuel figures. They aren’t about track days or stupid gadgets. The engine is superb especially given it’s forced induction. Unfortunately fords lack of investment in the Falcon made its later years, especially in the FGX era, impossible for it to be competitive. I actually really like a higher seating position personally. Love the mustangs colour and modern interior, what I have never like about the mustang is the stupidly long bonnet length. Outside of that though it’s a great looking car with a fantastic engine. Great review as always mate.

In respect to the long bonnet, that has been part of the Mustang style since day one. In comparison of the big 3 in USA, both the Camero and the Challenger are larger cars. To me, it is a great comparison as into the actual size of the Falcon. Ford USA should have picked up and carried on production of the Falcon. Keep the legend going.

If the Mustang had a the FPV spec and supercharged as well it would go heaps quicker. The body shape they used (the shape before this one) looked simirler to the original they built.

Hey mate I have a FPV GT 335 with a stupid amount of mods. Coilovers was easily one of the best best mods I have done, totally transformed the car (MCA coilovers) . Upgraded rear sway bar and 6/4 Brembos sharpened it up. I also noticed that running 19’s over 20’s is a much nicer ride ✌🏽
100% get good coilovers.. dont cheap out tho.. but mate it will transform the car.. so much more flat in the corners.. mine is running BC Racing coilovers.. mint ride hight and handles 10X better
I own a bf gt may 2007 in neo blue 6 speed auto it had 45,500 klms when I bought it it now has over 51,000 klms on it now owned by one owner in neo blue it's not supercharged but it has a xforce 3inch system cat back I love that exhaust note like it should have come factory I love my bf gt to pieces go the aussie gt ford man forever
I'm sad we didn't get the timeline where the Falcon came to America and the SS was cut short. Honestly if Pontiac stayed and we got the stuff they cooked up at Holden that would have been awesome, especially if we got the Ute.
ROSS..... Overboost doesn't work like that. Overboost works when the car is in the right temp range.... it will normally ALWAYS be in Overboost mode. So unless the car has just been started or it's running really hot......Overboost is ON! 😉
This would be different if we got the Shelby 350 350R the Shelby GT500. But we get nothing and if we do its $100 grand over what the Americans get. Case being the ZL1 Camaro the Silverado. 180 Grand + With the FPV for its time being the Top of the falcon range. The GT mustang over in the states is like the Holden Base SS to the HSV GTS...The GTS being the GT500. Great video
Cool review and cool cars m8 but the FPV is way better than the standard Mustang- mustang vs XR8 more like it and the FPV GT should be in comparison with the GT350 or GT500, comparing these 2 fords is like comparing the mighty HSV GTSR W1 to the vf style chevy SS we imported to the US- or a HSV GTO pontiac/monaro vs VX/VY SS
I reckon they are fairly evenly matched tho.. even the 0-100 the mustang proved easier to launch and was faster lol.. the GT500 would kill the GT because it’s far newer and just had way more money spent on it..

The Miami is just difficult to launch 🚀 lol the mustang is much more easy.. and with a tune the Miami V8 is a monster stay tuned to see a GS Ute I reviewed with only a tune and it makes 560rwhp

Good video but having had Falcon's for decades there's no way I'd go back now They are pretty much a one trick pony Much prefer a supercharged Mustang They are better in every way as you'd expect from a modern car
A bit of an apples and oranges comparo. One is a sports car from the outset while the other is a sporty tourer. I personally prefer the Mustang inside and out. Very purposeful looks and interior is a fun and pleasant place to be. Colour certainly kicks the Falcon's arse. A bit unfair putting the Mustang against a forced induction car (yet it still beat it). Yep,I'll take the import thanks. Don't forget the Falcon has only held it's value nominally, not in real terms. It'll probably go north from there though.
you right its a bit of a random comparison but its cool to see the outgoing FPV (besides the GTF) vs the incoming Mustang.. The mustangs are a really nice drivers car will give them that..
A friend of mine works for Ford Australia and back in the day was a prototype test driver. We had the FPV-GT and my abiding memory at the time was a fantastic engine with what felt like unlimited amounts of power - we easily saw speeds of 255km/h. On the otherhand, the 5.0 Mustangs from day one, felt very very underwhelming. I remember saying to myself at the time, this thing needs modifications - you could almost feel Ford themselves knew people were going to do that.
@@RossReviewsau I agree. You could feel that partnership with Ford and Prodrive which created the Miami engine. The Mustang never got that level of involvement.

i recently drove a mustang Rspec and would agree its a superior car but then again some people love having the space and 4 doors..

The difference is huge compared to the old 5.4L! The SC Miami changed the game 👌 needs to be a manual tho😅

I like the falcon, I've seen the mustang before, nice car also. I'm not so sure about a v8. People say that the falcon interior is plain, but some people prefer a simpler less cluttered layout. I've also seen the falcon as a no nonsense man's car. I like the more squarish mirrors and headlights of the falcon. I'd like to see the v8's with a turbo instead of the supercharger.

But have a 2016 WRX at the moment, was thinking of going an STI as wrx too slow, but now watching reviews on Mustangs, definitely in my opinion a much better looking car than falcon, but each to their own. If I go the Mustang it’s gotta be 2020 or newer, 460hp, GT all the way.
Im a ford guy but honestly no FPV really looks special and the interior is just yuck.My Mustang is Sublime to look at inside out..let alone the power and handling..sorry FPV ...Mustang all the way espesh the 10R80 is silky smooth and lightning fast.
i still love my FPVs more.. but you will be in for a treat monday as i release the Rspec Mustang Review! what a stang that thing is!!!!

The FPV GT is exactly that, a grand tourer. Its about eating miles, bags of torque, carrying 5 people, plenty of luggage space and even achieving decent fuel figures.
They aren’t about track days or stupid gadgets. The engine is superb especially given it’s forced induction.
Unfortunately fords lack of investment in the Falcon made its later years, especially in the FGX era, impossible for it to be competitive. I actually really like a higher seating position personally.
Love the mustangs colour and modern interior, what I have never like about the mustang is the stupidly long bonnet length. Outside of that though it’s a great looking car with a fantastic engine.

In respect to the long bonnet, that has been part of the Mustang style since day one. In comparison of the big 3 in USA, both the Camero and the Challenger are larger cars. To me, it is a great comparison as into the actual size of the Falcon. Ford USA should have picked up and carried on production of the Falcon. Keep the legend going.
Definitely gotta find a top of the line Camaro vs a HSV GTSR I know I'd definitely take the HSV anyday love this video still take the FPV anyday

I have a stock 2017 Mustang and 2011 FPV GS Ute which has been enhanced, ( Brembos all round, full X-Force exhaust system, coilover kit, plus tune). I would not part with either!

If the Mustang had a the FPV spec and supercharged as well it would go heaps quicker. The body shape they used (the shape before this one) looked simirler to the original they built.

Hey mate I have a FPV GT 335 with a stupid amount of mods. Coilovers was easily one of the best best mods I have done, totally transformed the car (MCA coilovers) . Upgraded rear sway bar and 6/4 Brembos sharpened it up. I also noticed that running 19’s over 20’s is a much nicer ride ✌🏽
100% get good coilovers.. dont cheap out tho.. but mate it will transform the car.. so much more flat in the corners.. mine is running BC Racing coilovers.. mint ride hight and handles 10X better

The gt everything is there under the hood. The mustang is great but needs performance inhansments to give it the up and go.

I own a bf gt may 2007 in neo blue 6 speed auto it had 45,500 klms when I bought it it now has over 51,000 klms on it now owned by one owner in neo blue it's not supercharged but it has a xforce 3inch system cat back I love that exhaust note like it should have come factory I love my bf gt to pieces go the aussie gt ford man forever

ROSS..... Overboost doesn't work like that. Overboost works when the car is in the right temp range.... it will normally ALWAYS be in Overboost mode. So unless the car has just been started or it's running really hot......Overboost is ON! 😉
only thing I didn't like about my fg xr6 turbo is how high you sit up

This would be different if we got the Shelby 350 350R the Shelby GT500. But we get nothing and if we do its $100 grand over what the Americans get. Case being the ZL1 Camaro the Silverado. 180 Grand + With the FPV for its time being the Top of the falcon range. The GT mustang over in the states is like the Holden Base SS to the HSV GTS...The GTS being the GT500. Great video

Cool review and cool cars m8 but the FPV is way better than the standard Mustang- mustang vs XR8 more like it and the FPV GT should be in comparison with the GT350 or GT500, comparing these 2 fords is like comparing the mighty HSV GTSR W1 to the vf style chevy SS we imported to the US- or a HSV GTO pontiac/monaro vs VX/VY SS
I reckon they are fairly evenly matched tho.. even the 0-100 the mustang proved easier to launch and was faster lol.. the GT500 would kill the GT because it’s far newer and just had way more money spent on it..

The Miami is just difficult to launch 🚀 lol the mustang is much more easy.. and with a tune the Miami V8 is a monster stay tuned to see a GS Ute I reviewed with only a tune and it makes 560rwhp

One is a sports car from the outset while the other is a sporty tourer.
I personally prefer the Mustang inside and out. Very purposeful looks and interior is a fun and pleasant place to be. Colour certainly kicks the Falcon's arse.

A friend of mine works for Ford Australia and back in the day was a prototype test driver. We had the FPV-GT and my abiding memory at the time was a fantastic engine with what felt like unlimited amounts of power - we easily saw speeds of 255km/h.
On the otherhand, the 5.0 Mustangs from day one, felt very very underwhelming. I remember saying to myself at the time, this thing needs modifications - you could almost feel Ford themselves knew people were going to do that.
the FPV cars just felt so much more purpose built for enthusiast over the mass production on the mustang
@@RossReviewsau I agree. You could feel that partnership with Ford and Prodrive which created the Miami engine. The Mustang never got that level of involvement.
