- Within the last days before New Years we visited more chateaus and explored the region around Amboise and Rennes! So much to see and less to talk. Have a look what we saw! And exciting times ahead!…

There are so many beautiful places in France.Fantastic craftsmanship which has stood the test of time(most of them😉)Without people like you and many others who are interested in restoring buildings back to there former glory many of these chateau's would be lost forever.Looking forward to seeing the property at the end of your video 😉Maybe this will be the one😉🤞

I have stayed at the chateaus Amboise. It’s lovely and so charming along the river. However I’ve never seen it at Christmas. So beautiful ! Thanks for sharing

@@Chateau_de_Londigny yes I owned a large travel business for many years and was fortunate to travel to so many European countries. France became my favorite.
I have traveled there many many times and the area you are in now is one of my favorites. I think it’s so enchanting. I love the architecture and the topography is stunning.
Every summer I would spend 2-3 weeks in France researching Chateaus and staying in some lovely places. My last trip was in 2019. Then COVD hit 🙁 and no travel. So I started watching UTube videos targeting Chateau renovations (found escape to the chateau with Dick and Angel) and thus many more fun ones to watch. I even became a Patreon for a couple of chateaus just because I want to help.
Anyway you have a lovely sincere and romantic approach and so just keep learning and posting. I think you and your husband will be very successful. It’s just fun to explore and experience your journey with others around the world and if you do it right it can really help financially ❤️
Have watched since episode one. Congratulations on your engagement. My home is 40 minutes from Renne and will finally see it again this coming September. We all would live to see more of the Chateau you are looking at. My advice don't be predictable, different is good best wishes for your journey😊

Oh chateau amboise is amazing, breathtaking. I had the pleasure of visiting caserta Palace in southern Italy and omg totally jaw dropping the history the renovation in parts, the gardens and fountain is truly beautiful and romantic, I would recommend a visit there. So for now I am cosy here in Yorkshire UK watching you as you travel around France looking for your chateau ,I feel blessed im sure you will find it , you will have that feeling when you find the right one. Your closeness to family drew me closer to you and your story. Loved the Schnapps with Opa! He drinks his Schapps with slow enjoyment, like a real German gentleman. It is a subtle art. He does not just "throw it back". (I lived in Germany for 30 years.) Your fiance (Herzlichem Glueckwunsche zur Verlobung!) can learn from him. Your music, photography and scanning speed is already good! I know it is hard to research everthing, but I would love to know more about the history, art and architecture of the regions and chateaux you visit, if you can fit it in! Rennes cold and wet......rule in France north of the Loire cold, south of the Loire much less rain and cold......
Oh ya, the express toll roads were my biggest learning curve. Multiple times went 30 -45 min in the wrong direction because there are no exits! Totally stressful!

While I realize you're on a time constraint what with the distances you're traveling in between each viewing, don't discount the sometimes happy accident of getting lost.

How many chateaus are on your short list for viewing? I looked at more than 20 properties before deciding on the one I am buying. And some of those I looked at, I went back for second and third viewings. Good luck
Hello Glen, that’s what our friends said as well and we are prepared for the long game. We are not in a rush. And it’s how you learn what you want, what is good and what is to risky. The more we will see the more we learn.

Thank you for asking. This channel is about the journey to find a chateau. From research to stays to appointments and inspections. This is documented in a real time and real life. So it can take longer and the journey is not straight to moving in. Life ! :)

I watched your first episodes until this one (I discovered your channel this morning). It's very interesting. Thanks for sharing with us your impressions, your feelings, good and less good, and your adventure here in France. I hope you appreciate our country, and you'll have a good experience here.
There are a couple of not-so-pleasant things you should immediately know about moving to France as a foreigner.
The first is the French administration. Everyone will tell you, even the French like me. As soon as it's a question of obtaining papers in order, carrying out formalities, opening a bank account, an internet line, etc., if you don't have a Frenchman or a person with you who has already had this experience, you'll encounter many problems.
Be careful with the contracts you sign, be attentive, and have the documents translated before signing anything. And, above all, arm yourself with patience. Because you risk a few migraines. 🙃😊
The second thing is if you need to hire French companies or artisans to help you renovate your castle. You'll also have to arm yourself with a lot of patience.
So, I hope you know how to do numerous things with your hands or are ready to learn them yourself.
Because otherwise, you're going to face great disappointments or wait a long time before someone comes to help you out.
I advise you to find out if, in the region where you buy your castle, there are near you English speakers who have already started to renovate a house. They'll surely be able to guide you and point you to good reliable artisans.
Gather as much information as possible about the place you're buying, its history, the various owners who have succeeded there, etc.
