I sooooo enjoyed that series on the 'first department store in England' started by an American ...the blonde actress was so charming & humble. I wonder if Anna or her parents know what the words (in stone) are at the top of the roof? Possibly in Latin? I saw the word 'Terra' which is close to my name 'Tara' & "Ave Maria" (Immaculata ?) Anyway it leads me to think that was definitely a part of a cathedral or monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

@@Motherhubbard170 as a local I can say with confidence that where this beach hut is located (it’s called Hengistbury Head for those who are curious) is incredibly out of the way and not at all practical to get to, even in the height of summer it’s the quietest strip of beach in the BCP area. Still doesn’t justify that price tag tho

Oh my goodness, I can't believe you were here, visiting where I grew up! We used to spend all our summer holidays at Mudeford and had a sailing dinghy. I was born in Southbourne and, Anna, we lived on the beach as teenagers, having beach parties and bar-b-ques - all very innocent in those days.
It was so lovely to see you all come to Dorset (and Hampshire) to visit your lovely parents. Ziggy was having such a good time.
Those gorgeous beach huts are owned by footballers and foreigners from London now, that's why they are stupid money. Don't throw your money down that money-pit, my dear friends, just visit and enjoy for free.

Actually, there's a similar stretch of sand with beach houses that are with
ridiculously expensive prices on FIRE ISLAND. It's an hour ferry ride from LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK STATE, going east into the Atlantic Sea.

Visiting Anna’s parents gives us a switcharoo for it is mostly them helping out at the chateau and bonding with the girls..time out for all the family..the beach huts stretch for a long way ..what a location but that price range is high end for sure…it only takes short breaks to revive and to remind you that the sea divides you but the crossing makes it so accessible to visit..happy days.. ⛵️❤️⛵️

The story of Highcliff castle reminds me of Hearst Castle here in California - he also brought ceilings(!) from Europe
Some bits of Highcliffe are at Hearst castle. It was sadly left to ruin and much sold off. It's still beautiful, but lots more restoration to be done.

She's beautiful with good taste and he has a wonderful sense of humor, cynical, but not too cynical to be off-putting. A very difficult tight rope to walk. Lovely show. As a retired chef, I always wanted a place like theirs to run as a bed and breakfast and to prepare a nice breakfast and dinner and make the guests happy, but I was hesitant to invest in that direction because of Air B@B's and such.
As an army reservist, I spent some time in Hythe. We had a weekend off and of course,we visited London, Stonehenge, and Southampton. I loved the area.

Hi Anna and Phillip lovely to see your latest video; you were in our neck of the woods. We live a few miles up the road from here and visit Highcliff Castle often. Next time you are over you must visit Lymington there are lots of boats and there is plenty of sailing, Phillip you would love it! Hope that you have enjoyed your stay.

Highcliffe castle and Mudeford hold such great memories for me too. It was my favourite beach, just hated the climb back. I lived there until I moved to Cyprus 8 years ago. A real trip down memory lane.. Amazing place to live.

Mr. Selfridge was an American who worked for 25 years in the Marshall Fields department store in Chicago before moving to London to found the Selfridge's department store in London. Both stores catered to the "carriage trade". It is interesting the connection to the house where you were married.

Such an attractive couple! You’re both still so lovely and slender. Not many women can pull off the stunning old Hollywood glamour of your wedding dress as it is not forgiving at all. Yet you have the perfect slender figure for it. It’s just so beautiful. I’ve been the coordinator for 32 weddings back in my Designer days and have had to break a couple brides dress dreams when she finally saw herself in such a dress and had to agree something else would be better. 😢so, it’s wonderful to see it on you. Although a few more photos would have been nice. You have and are living a wonderful life. 💖 thank you for sharing.

Highcliffe is a confection of Architectural styles and framed the romance of your wedding perfectly. Was the ferry crossing direct to Portsmouth from the nearest port to you in Normandy? Phillip must love all the sailing activity on both sides of the Channel. You both come from beautiful parts of the world .
