While he has a great career, Robert Patrick is one of those actors where I don't understand why his not considered A list. He elevates everything that he's in.

His portrayal of John Doggett in the X-Files is one of the greatest performances I've ever seen. He owned that character. It's his best work IMHO. One of my favorite actors hands down...
I agree. Of course I love the main cast of David and Gillian. But i loved the new dynamic between Gillian and Robert. Where Scully was the skeptic with Mulder, Doggett became the skeptic and Scully was the conspiracist/unorthodox agent. I loved that Doggett, was a loyal to his friends, an effective agent, a man of principle, ethics and justice. He often didn't believe the stuff that Scully believed in, but he backed her up anyway.
I was in the Marines when he joined the show. I'm just now watching the episodes. I dig his character and those episodes. Been a fan of his work since T2.
Robert Patrick as Liquid Metal T1000 is still an electrifying performance. Not many characters in film did I feel the same threatening presence and memory that comes from T2 - saw this as a kid and still my favorite movie.
Robert's character was a novelty in the early 90s when CGI of that caliber was still fairly new. Asides from his amazing talent, his striking good looks as well as Billy Idol's accident probably sealed the deal in getting him the T-1000 role too. I think that if Robert was ugly or not that physically appealing, people might not have been fascinated by the T-1000 character, even with the liquid metal special effects.
I did a script polish on that movie Robert did in Cleveland. It was LOW LOW budget, but the director did what he could with what he had. Having Robert Patrick and Michael Rooker naturally elevate material on their own.
Michael you're so good at adapting to the differences in interviewees. Some you have to ask a million questions, some (like Robert Patrick) you say 3-4 words and they respond with a complete coherent short story, and you just stay out of the way and let them talk. Great interview.
This was HANDS DOWN one of my favorite interviews you have done, and the list I have loved is extensive! I look forward every week to watching. Best podcast available from where I am sitting!
Recently I rewatched Fire In The Sky and had forgotten how great of an actor Robert Patrick was in that movie. Always enjoy it when he shows up in something.
I love how this man has played some ruthless and nasty characters and yet is such a kind soul. A real tribute to his talent. Just rewatched Terminator 2: Judgment Day recently and not only is the film still a masterpiece but his performance remains brilliant. Such simple choices made the character truly standout.
1:09:55 "You're a great guy." I felt that. There's not better compliment than that when you meet someone new and wonder where all the time went talking to him. You gotta have Robert back again. Best guest so far.
I love, love, love Robert Patrick in everything but I have a soft spot for his villain in The Marine. He made that movie fun and elevated the entire thing to something we watch all the time. Fun movie and a great interview.
The funniest part I liked in "The Marine" was when Manu Bennet looks at Robert during the highway chase and compares John Cena with terminator "This guy is like the Terminator". I liked Robert's reaction on that part like "Bro, any idea who I am? The T-1000"
Man. This may be one of my favorite episodes. There was not a second where I wanted to be interrupted or even interrupt the flow of this conversation. Absolutely "Inside of You" is currently my favorite podcast.
He's reacted or responded to a few comments I've made on this things before which surprised and impressed me. Not that he'd answer me in particular, but the fact that he's one of those who will engage with "the little people" so to speak. Says a lot about him as a person. Very sweet.
He is the type of actor who doesn't phone it in even if he is in a bad movie or a movie he knows will go straight-to-video. Last year someone convinced me to watch From Dusk Till Dawn 2 and it certainly isn't a good movie, but it is still better than many horror movies that get theatrical released. This is in large part because Robert Patrick elevates the material.
His part in x files is really under rated, i think duchovny leaving left ppl thinking no one could replace him but robert made that role his own and different from mulder
Honestly, one of the most authentic interviews ive watched on the tube! Been following Mr. Patrick since he played T 1000. What a great man. Thank for the "higher power" reference. Gratitude is a super power!! Great show.

This week’s episode is delightful. Robert definitely opens up and has so many great stories. He has played so many great characters. He has a great perspective. A part 2 would be awesome.
I think people love Robert because he is genuine. Full stop. Im 38. I grew up only knowing him as T1000 and had all these ideas of him as an actor. I just started watching XFiles 4 months ago and instantly fell in love with that show. It wasnt until season 7 or 8 that I discovered really who Robert Patrick is as an actor. What an absolutely brilliant performance he gave as John Dogget. I think I love that character so much because it IS Robert Patrick. Hes a good man in that show. Compassionate. Honorable. And I think it comes through so well because thats likely just who he is in real life. What an absolutely fucking dynamite episode.
Robert Patrick is an amazing actor! Diverse, intense, often dynamic but listening to him talk with Michael impressed me so much more. Kind, loving family man and smart. Fun and funny he's a delight to listen too! Thank you Patrick and Michael! Bravo guys!
Two of the best villains meet... T2 meets Lex Luthor. I've said it 1000 times and I'll say it 1000 times more... Michael, you're, to date, the BEST Lex Luthor ever!! And Robert is probably still one of the best science fiction bad guys ever as well.

In Billy Idol's autobiography he said Cameron wrote the T1000 for him but his bike crash put him out of the picture. And the rest is history for Robert.
This was such a great interview! Robert Patrick is one of my favorite actors and he always played great villians in my favorite action science fiction movies for sure. Robert Patricks career is dynamic and he seems down to earth and humble and is still a great actor and his range and skill is so versatile and unlimited. I hope he doesn't retire or quit acting and I wish him all the best. Thanks for having him on Michael Rosenbaum.

Wow I did not expect this from Robert Patrick, I was always a fan but I didn't know he was such a deep and interesting person, what a wonderful interview
I met Robert Patrick last August and he was so nice, relatable and easy to talk to. Our kids are around the same ages. Unfortunately I missed meeting Michael Rosenbaum in December.
Honorable mention from Robert's filmography - Bridge to Terabithia. It's a child/young-adult movie about grief, friendship and imagination. He plays a loving but overworked blue-collar father who really has some powerful stuff in the 2nd/3rd acts. Check it out if you haven't seen it, made me really appreciate him as an actor past my T2 fandom.
Great interview with the great Robert Patrick. I was lucky to be able to speak with him in person when he visited Comiccon in Buenos Aires. A great person and a great actor. Greetings to all from Argentina.

Robert was perfect for the role. Totally different to Arnold’s performance
The fact Patrick hardly talks in the movie and had to rely on screen presence and charisma shows how perfectly cast he was.

His Sopranos arc was amazing, under rated and heartbreaking.

Such a likeable but tragic character. He was great
I think he was lucky that he didn't get beat up for the way he treated the guy who shot dead by Janice
