I dont know how all these people who claim to sign 25-30+ 5* recruits every season are doing it, im struggling to sign my 15 recruits from the preseason every single year, no matter what level program I have
I might be able to help you. Recruiting is all about timing. Try going after 1 to 2 guys per position. Send scholarship first. Then the next week see the type of interest you get.. if you see a lot of influence from the scholarship… send the house.. once send the house you should be number 1 for the recruits. Now the main thing is check to see if you unlocked the hard sell… if so the hard sell them . If it unlocks also try complimentary visits.. have your de,dt,lb,cb visit the same week… and have qb, wr, o line visit another week.. or you could do D-line.. O-line
You can usually find a few 4 star players who don't have an offer at the mid point or later, in a season. Those guys end up being decently easy to get but you have to throw more than 10 hours at them. But if you can find those guys at the lower tier schools, that's definitely worth it. A 4 star guy a Kennesaw State is going to be better than just about everybody on that roster, so it's worth it to me.
The marinating thing makes me wonder if that what the AI is doing with other teams I’m not coaching at? I notice when I take a job, their board is filled with guys that have offers but nothing else. Very few guys with hours being spent.
I always offer scholarships early because its free Influence and ive had it to where ive only offered the scholarship and put no points and somehow stayed in first place and won the recruit which means more points i can put to more players
Something I’m not sure if you touched on in this and the selling video is the pipe line influence between the coaches, I would assume you set the created coaches to same pipelines but the OC and DC also have influence bonuses depending as well as multipliers for your pipeline
Can you do the understanding of the “elite recruiter” tree because I dont really feel the impact of the bonus influence per hours , could just be the update making it harder but I’m losing battles to schools when I have a minimum of 70 hours as well as visits scheduled. I’m not sayin it doesn’t work because I can average about 8-10 5 stars per class easily , I just feel like 3-4 stars shouldn’t be as hard.
Love the work you put in. I’ve been following this strategy for a while and it works well for me. Here’s my question on (delaying) scholarship offers, what do you do when you decide to chase a 4/5-star who has Open recruitment mid-season? As a big school, I think it’s worth it to save the points for a shot at an insta-commit because you’ll often be their #1 after one week of STH or more. For lower schools however, it takes 2-3 weeks to become their number one w STH and if/when the recruitment becomes a battle later in the season, I find myself wondering if I should’ve offered the scholarship earlier to benefit from that “marination”. Essentially, what do you see as the trade-off between insta-commits and marinating? Is 2-3 weeks a small enough marination period that it merits a delayed offer? If so, does that vary between schools? For example, I’ve noticed that lower prestige schools have worse insta-commit odds than higher ranked schools and that schools chasing prospects above their prestige level seem to never get insta commits on those players, but I have no data to back this up. Would appreciate any insight from anyone and I look forward to your next video! Thanks for the content
Are you scouting all of your guys the first week if you have limited hours? What if your trying to go after a lot of 5 and 4 stars as a small school? I've seen guys get over 10 5 star guys as a small school because they waited till they were first on their board.
Please do some science testing for insta commitments. I tried some other peoples methods for getting insta commits where they claimed they could get 5+ insta commits per year and i only got 1 in 3 years of recruiting. I would love to know what situations make sense to go after those insta commits
I get 5+ a year. I only offer upfront for 5 stars. Anyone else I give max points until I’m 1st and then offer the scholarship. During the preseason any 2 stars and up that I’m first in I’ll offer them and if they don’t insta commit and I don’t really like them I’ll just drop them
Without the CEO perk, I don't get many insta committed. But with CEO perk I can get on average 8-10 commits out of full board of 35. That's a 30% chance!
This is interesting to watch because I do the delayed method of recruiting and I do get 4-5 instant commits. I recently started an Aztecs dynasty and I would go after only 4 and 5 star recruits. Then again I was boosting my coach prestige and winning games so maybe that plays a role? I'm not sure really, I think another video with upgraded coaches would be interesting. Definitely going to try scholarships early and see if it works better for me.
@@maxplayscfb SDSU is a two star school, my coach rank started at C but ends up being B- - B+ by season end with all points allocated to recruiting. And I would say in the first 25 recruits I get to be first on the board, I get about 2-3 so about 7-10% the time.
Ah super cool - I really wanna look more into this. I think if anyone can get insta commits over 10% of the time on elite players it actually might be worth it
I do agree however it takes a full 2-3 hours just to do one season, so I would only make 1 vid a month if I had to do this 5 times🤣 that’s why I try to be super specific with controlling as many variables as possible (same level coach, same tier school, same location, same recruits, same hours, etc). That way I don’t rely on the random AI teams
The best way to test this stuff is to use an offline dynasty. That way you can create a save point that you can go back to. Test what you want doing it one way, then reload the save and test it another.
I agree with this in theory however - since the AI recruiting is random, it may not be the exact same each week. So while you may have the same 3500 recruits, the AI schools may choose to go after different guys in one file vs another If we know for a fact it’s predetermined, then I’d do this - however I don’t think that’s likely
I've simmed 6 weeks on 5 different saves at the same fixed point to test out a recruit. The same 5* recruit always went with another team. It felt pre-determined I was not going to grab him. We both had best pipeline tier and were a neck and neck race.
Can’t you offer upfront, get to first… take them off your board. Re add them when your first interest, and get the chance of the insta commit as the cost of 5 hours per commit?
i have had 3 10+ year dynasty. first was completely blind at utep and Ohio State, second Tennessee optimizing for CEO instacommit ASAP, third Georgia optimized for bundling points to max out archetypes, no instacommits. I found that like you said maybe 2-3 instacommits per year, although I would still end up not losing a single recruit (tennessee is school stats are stacked and program builder pipeline buffs are huge). scholarships in preseason is 100% my default. it’s more hassle to wait until your interest 1 and then hope they instacommit, which happens maybe 4/20 times and for the price not worth it imo
correct. I had recruiter and program builder pipeline abilities maxed out and all A- or above school ratings. I also found that for recruits that I waited for I would have to “battle” more throughout the season, eventually win them over, but, otherwise i’d commit my board pretty much entirely by week 5. the percentage on instacommit should be >25% imo to make it worth it, but then it’s probably just too easy. maybe a better fix would be to remove the 1st interest requirement.
@dogpetter5978 I had a 25-30% rate on average with 5 tests. With a full board of 35 recruits instant committing. Two tests were low, two inside that 25-30% and one reaching almost 50%. Since I paid for this CEO perk, you bet your ass I'm gonna save scum since its too random! hahaha
haha i get it. interesting that you had significantly better performance. I probably went through 5 or so cycles with it and found it 1. ineffective and 2. took more time/attention to manage (the UI makes it easy to offer by accident and you have to sort and find int 1 prospects who haven’t been offered yet each week). i am a believer of “play the game how you want” so if that includes save scumming to get more commits it’s probably worth having it. I find that I spend a lot of time managing recruits and find it laborious to create a save point and reload the dynasty if i don’t get the desired outcome.
Imstant commit only work if you school is the players #1 interest I have an online dynasty with FSU and i had 0 players who had my school as the top interest
Really, the only advantage of the late scholarship is the prospect of the insta-commit, which seems like chasing a carrot, it’s so infrequent. Might as well use the excess hours in the preseason to offer. You’re saving 155 hours across the rest of the season that are always at a premium once you’re competing for players.
Probably!! We gotta try to figure out what % of the time you get insta commits if you have that in your tree - if it’s a super high number, it may be worth waiting to offer till ur in first
@@maxplayscfb Btw, they patched the Hard Sell + 10 (with bad grades) being better than send the house. Probably got patched in the last update. Grades are way more important now. More of grind but I'm landing1-2 elite devs a year. The reason I stop at 17 is because I redshirt every freshman and 17x5=85 , which is the max roster size.
i feel like there are way too many 3 star players like every single one should have multiple offers by week 7 instead you have tons in every position without offers. espically since a lot of 3 star plays develop into better players then 4 or 5 stars at least for me. like ive had multiple years where a 3 star qb out develops my 5 star qb. so i just put all the good 5 star players on the board and a few 4 stars who have intrest of 5th or higher i always offer scholarships in week 0 then the rest of the year i just focus on using my hours on them and use any remaining hours to scout 3 stars and look for 3 stars who have either 1 90 stat or 2 80s stats and they usually become very good players even if they have an X on them
I like your videos but this one doesn't make sense for how delayed offers work. I spend more hours to get into first and then offer scholarship, obviously if the teams are spending the same amount of hours on the same prospect then the team that offered initially would win, and that the delayed offer would only work for ones they had a big lead on initially.
Yeah I agree - tried to explain that in the back half of the video. Basically we need to do some other sort of test to just see “if we offer 100 recruits in first, what % actually insta commit” and then it just becomes a judgement call Although I will say it looks much dumber in hindsight - going into it we had no idea just how MUCH better 20 hours + an offer was than 20 hours. Like yeah we would expect the 20+offer to be a little better, but basically it was so dominant that we hardly got the chance to test the delayed offer
I watch a lot of your videos on recruiting, but now all I can see is your hand movements... I can't not notice how you move them back and forth, often without reason... Ricky Bobby syndrome
This ignores winning games & the players interest. It would be a better experiment using ASU twice and creating a new file after selecting the 35 recruits. So you can see what happens with the same exact school taking a different route with recruiting. I’m a believer in sending the offer upfront btw.
The reason why I didn’t do this is because this way you can’t see how many hours the AI is throwing at the recruit if you’re just ASU. If you control multiple teams, you control all the hours Sure, ASU may have won more games, but that’s why half of the recruits got the offer from ASU but the other half got the offer from UA - it allows us to try to control for that
I honestly feel like the collective brain power we've spent on recruiting in this game could have cured a minor disease

Hey Max when can we get a coaching build video. Such as overall build or max player boosting etc….
nice videos man doing a rebuild with coastal carolina and your method for hardsells helped me land so many top recruiting classes awesome work 👏
Thanks for watching, glad I could help!!
The marinating thing makes me wonder if that what the AI is doing with other teams I’m not coaching at? I notice when I take a job, their board is filled with guys that have offers but nothing else. Very few guys with hours being spent.
good point -- ive never noticed that
I always offer scholarships early because its free Influence and ive had it to where ive only offered the scholarship and put no points and somehow stayed in first place and won the recruit which means more points i can put to more players
Something I’m not sure if you touched on in this and the selling video is the pipe line influence between the coaches, I would assume you set the created coaches to same pipelines but the OC and DC also have influence bonuses depending as well as multipliers for your pipeline
Appreciate these vids brodie 🤙
can you make a video demonstrating this strategy through a whole season?
Can you do the understanding of the “elite recruiter” tree because I dont really feel the impact of the bonus influence per hours , could just be the update making it harder but I’m losing battles to schools when I have a minimum of 70 hours as well as visits scheduled. I’m not sayin it doesn’t work because I can average about 8-10 5 stars per class easily , I just feel like 3-4 stars shouldn’t be as hard.
Putting the college in college football
Same here - was really hoping this vid would drive some discussion towards that topic so we can see what strategies ppl have
I get 5+ a year. I only offer upfront for 5 stars. Anyone else I give max points until I’m 1st and then offer the scholarship. During the preseason any 2 stars and up that I’m first in I’ll offer them and if they don’t insta commit and I don’t really like them I’ll just drop them
Also I really only get insta commits on 3 stars. I’ve gotten a couple 4 stars but it’s been super rare and I’ve played 10+ seasons this way
Without the CEO perk, I don't get many insta committed. But with CEO perk I can get on average 8-10 commits out of full board of 35. That's a 30% chance!
I’ve been in the early offer camp since launch. I had no direct data, just know I lost a bunch of good recruits trying the delay offer one year lol
Same here
This is interesting to watch because I do the delayed method of recruiting and I do get 4-5 instant commits.
Interesting - how many stars is your school, what rank is your coach, and what % of the time do you get insta commits?
@@maxplayscfb SDSU is a two star school, my coach rank started at C but ends up being B- - B+ by season end with all points allocated to recruiting. And I would say in the first 25 recruits I get to be first on the board, I get about 2-3 so about 7-10% the time.
Ah super cool - I really wanna look more into this. I think if anyone can get insta commits over 10% of the time on elite players it actually might be worth it
I might have actually passed economics in college if this guy was my professor.
Good stuff
I feel like there’s so much random in this game ya gotta expand the tests to multiple seasons over different dynasties
So while you may have the same 3500 recruits, the AI schools may choose to go after different guys in one file vs another
If we know for a fact it’s predetermined, then I’d do this - however I don’t think that’s likely
For the boost!
I’m glad this guy spends all day running test so I don’t have to.
that shirt is lowkey fire where can I get one
I make a lot of shirts custom that I think are funny on printful.com for like $10, ima try and get them to sponsor this channel someday 😂
Max is my hero
Do you know what happens if you offer a scholarship, then remove them from your board at a later week and offer the scholarship again?
i have had 3 10+ year dynasty. first was completely blind at utep and Ohio State, second Tennessee optimizing for CEO instacommit ASAP, third Georgia optimized for bundling points to max out archetypes, no instacommits.
Interesting perspective - so even on the Tennessee dynasty you weren’t getting more than 2/3 per year?
I find that I spend a lot of time managing recruits and find it laborious to create a save point and reload the dynasty if i don’t get the desired outcome.
brother max! put X on your phone and turn on noti's, I'm trying to put you on with some of these questions / link your stuff
Shoot man lemme go get on that🤣🤣 I appreciate it
Imstant commit only work if you school is the players #1 interest I have an online dynasty with FSU and i had 0 players who had my school as the top interest
How do you work your way up to number 1 on a players board if you haven't offered them?
I don't think you can unless you're winning at a bigg time program
Gotta offer scholarships in the offseason
Really, the only advantage of the late scholarship is the prospect of the insta-commit, which seems like chasing a carrot, it’s so infrequent. Might as well use the excess hours in the preseason to offer. You’re saving 155 hours across the rest of the season that are always at a premium once you’re competing for players.
Would having the instant commit in coaching tree make any difference in this strategy?
Probably!! We gotta try to figure out what % of the time you get insta commits if you have that in your tree - if it’s a super high number, it may be worth waiting to offer till ur in first
I'll throw a scholarship at a K & P in the preseason even if I'm not on their board and I'll normally land at least one with little to no work .
I’m with ya, works like a charm
@@maxplayscfb Btw, they patched the Hard Sell + 10 (with bad grades) being better than send the house. Probably got patched in the last update. Grades are way more important now. I low-key like the realism they're bringing to CFB, cheesing is only fun for a short while.
I've resorted to 14-17, gem only, recommended only, recruiting. More of grind but I'm landing1-2 elite devs a year. The reason I stop at 17 is because I redshirt every freshman and 17x5=85 , which is the max roster size.
Lol March 21 is my birthday, nice
Bro what are those pictures in the background? Is that the Martian from Mars Attack??
I’m gonna be honest, I have NO IDEA🤣🤣 I live with my girlfriend and she put those up, no clue the background of them
Amazing video love your work! Just had to ask😂
Thanks and no prob!!!
Bengal brought me here
Ever player u you recruit now you can edit their attributes once they’re on your team just found that out today 8-29-2024
i feel like there are way too many 3 star players like every single one should have multiple offers by week 7 instead you have tons in every position without offers.
espically since a lot of 3 star plays develop into better players then 4 or 5 stars at least for me.
like ive had multiple years where a 3 star qb out develops my 5 star qb.
so i just put all the good 5 star players on the board and a few 4 stars who have intrest of 5th or higher i always offer scholarships in week 0 then the rest of the year i just focus on using my hours on them and use any remaining hours to scout 3 stars and look for 3 stars who have either 1 90 stat or 2 80s stats and they usually become very good players even if they have an X on them
Wait you're saying I'm not supposed to spam offer all 35 before week 0
No I actually think I am saying that!!
This is a weird video to upload on March 21st
I like your videos but this one doesn't make sense for how delayed offers work. I spend more hours to get into first and then offer scholarship, obviously if the teams are spending the same amount of hours on the same prospect then the team that offered initially would win, and that the delayed offer would only work for ones they had a big lead on initially.
Yeah I agree - tried to explain that in the back half of the video. Basically we need to do some other sort of test to just see “if we offer 100 recruits in first, what % actually insta commit” and then it just becomes a judgement call
Although I will say it looks much dumber in hindsight - going into it we had no idea just how MUCH better 20 hours + an offer was than 20 hours.
If you control multiple teams, you control all the hours
Sure, ASU may have won more games, but that’s why half of the recruits got the offer from ASU but the other half got the offer from UA - it allows us to try to control for that
Lets see all the data applied in a rebuild. Which school? All of them.
I should have more ball state dynasty stuff out later this week!!!!
Maybe send a scholarship when you are # 1 and they are in the top 3!!
When are you publishing your paper in a peer reviewed journal? haha
So getting the ceo instant commit is pointless
No if you can get it it’s prob worthwhile, but if you don’t have it, it’s prob better to just give out offers asap
@@maxplayscfb yeah I offer scholarships in the preseason to get a jump .. I sign 14 to 18 5star recruits every offseason
