      Thanks Brian, you really are the go to guy for learning the guitar, I have been very lazy but it feels like you are determined to help learn the guitar. I am a member but appreciate the youtube videos ... because I can slow down more difficult sections to .25 speed so seeing you play in normal time along with tabs and other guides on screen I can learn at my remedial pace. Also the way i want to go for now is improvised harmony and chords at the same time so I am 'playing the song' with just me and my guitar so big thanks. Take care and I recommend to anyone and everyone to sign up for Brians website as there is infinite theory and practice and this guy really does want you to learn (and he takes into acount our laziness and mediocrity, that's how i see the pep talks anyway, we need to be reminded and going back to previous theory anchors is awesome underlying foundations building)

    Thanks for revisiting this again. I think the best part of your teaching style is that you don’t forget what it’s like to not know what you know now. Many people forget what it’s like to be ‘new’. I’ve always appreciated your style. Much respect. Thank you.

    I'm really enjoying your content, I've been playing probably 30 years on and off soloing ect but everything by ear and shapes on the fretboard before youtube was a thing I knew I was cheating but never learnt music as such and it left me stuck at a level. Your the first person who has really put it together for me so I understand how and why it works, now I can move forward. Cheers.

    Believe it or not, Tommy Shaw, of Styx, spent five minutes in a break mixing lead and rhythm, in the most incredible sound. Not saying he's better or worse than other guitarist, but he is one of the few guitarists who will still do this in concert.

    Hi Brian - I've been learning a lot from your videos. One thing I've noticed is that the pentatonic scale sounds great over certain chord progressions like I IV V (blues) but sucks on others such as an Andalusian progression, some country songs etc. I want to put that out there in case you think that is a good topic for a video. Thanks.

    Hello Mr. Kelly, truly connect with you and your methods. I’m just starting out, since 2019 and watched enough videos to understand what I have to do, but would love it if you can help me with a clear path. A structured process of what to learn and in what order to avoid wasting any time. I’m very eager to learn, just not sure of the most effective way to go about it. I also want to learn the piano at the same time because I love it as much as guitar, but also I feel it makes you a better musician. My other interests include the classical guitar and the violin. I wish you the the best and all the success you can handle. Ever think about when you get as big as Beato? I believe you will get there. Thank you and looking forward to hearing back from you. Hey Mr. Kelly, can you tell me a bit of detail about the newbie course? Think I’m going to take advantage of the break, just curious how it all begins and what I have to look forward to. I was thinking about all the struggles you went through early on while doing what you love and playing all those gigs. At the time unknowingly building the content to provide the platform that will eventually get you to the point where you will be rewarded for all your hard work doing what inspires you! My name is Anthony, having an aversion to social media, I put the name of my guitar at the time on the account.Thanks for doing what inspires you, and keep it going! Unrelated question, do your children have an interest in music?

    • @zombieguitar
      @zombieguitar  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Anthony, thanks for the comment! The Newbie Course is one of many courses that is included with a membership to the Zombie Guitar website. That course contains something like 60 to 70 individual lessons which are mixture of "song" and "concept" lessons. The concept lessons coincide with the song lessons, and it gets progressively harder as you go through the course. There is a full walkthrough video of what the site looks like when logged in as a member here: www.zombieguitar.com/full-access-membership
      If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Thanks again!

    Brian mate i'm revisiting this video again , i know cage but I'm not confident to overlay it on layer 1, i'm mostly using it for rythm but I guess after many years i do solo on chirds unconsciuosly but i wish to have more awareness of what i do
    my question is how is it the best practice this? write down a scale and cage chords could make sense ?

    • @zombieguitar

      The easy solution is to practice simple chord progressions using CAGED shapes. Here's an older lesson that talks about that. Ignore the dorky headset too 😁: th-cam.com/video/-xy0sIcU8XM/w-d-xo.html

    Hey Brian. I love your content and I'm a Zombieguitar member. I'm curious about your mic setup for your videos. You're not wearing any headphones or in ear monitors. How do you record your videos and hear your guitar? Do you just set your levels beforehand and not hear the electric guitar effects at all? I know you can't have your monitors on while you're recording or you'd get an echo/feedback. Also, are you using a lav mic or a shotgun or something else?

    • @zombieguitar
      @zombieguitar  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Doug, I use a Rode pro mic. It's on the floor just out of view of the camera. I also use S-Gear amp sim software. Both my guitar and the mic go into my Focusrite interface and get recorded into Reaper DAW. From there is just do whatever processing to the sound is necessary.... usually just a volume boost and maybe a bit of EQ. That's it!

    • @zombieguitar
      @zombieguitar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well...Triads are the next step up from power chords. You add a major 3rd to your power chords...now you've got yourself a major chord. You add a minor 3rd to your power chords...now you've got a minor chord.
      Considering triads are the backbone of almost all of the mainstream music that most of us listen to, I'd say to focus on that next.

    i have an interesting question...a bit off topic
    when composing a song..how to know when you have enough instruments or sounds?
    like i mentioned before, whenever you put out a video, i end up composing
    in the first 6 minutes, i had drums guitars and bass, then you mentioned the blue notes
    so i mostly do keys, and i played around with a phrase in G major, and added the blue note of A sharp..
    and because it sounds familiar..it's stuck in my head now, but i dont want piano in the song..but it wont stop nagging
    her you go..play the notes g-a-b- g-a-b-c..why does that sound like a famous song melody?

    • @zombieguitar
      @zombieguitar  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's entirely up to you when you think that there is enough. My first song I ever made in a DAW had like 10 different synth parts 🤣🤣🤣

  • @taylor818e6

    Thanks again. Last question for the moment. How long do you think it would take to go through the entire program with moderate daily practice?

    • @zombieguitar
      @zombieguitar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, it's a complete start to finish musical education...so I'd estimate maybe 2 to 5 years, depending on your level of commitment. The site is intended for you to be able to refer to it at all times, throughout your entire guitar learning journey. It's a lifetime resource, not just a "course" 😁

      The Newbie Course does not cover much of that as it is primarily geared towards easy songs and very basic concepts. However, all of that stuff you mentioned is covered in great detail within other sections of the website, all of which is included with the membership 😁

  • @Ahmed-kv4up

    The scale is Dm harmonic scale, because we have A7, the dominant chord. I'm right, Brian?

    • @zombieguitar
      @zombieguitar  ปีที่แล้ว

      The key-scale (aka. the diatonic scale) is the D natural minor scale.
      The A7 chord is an "out of key" chord, so that is a great chord to switch to a different scale...
      One good option to switch to over that one chord would be the D harmonic minor scale. You could also refer to this scale as "A Phrygian Dominant" if you wanted to give the scale an 'A' rooted name (D harmonic minor and A Phrygian Dominant are modes of each other) 😃
