Thanks Rusty. My obvious mistake in my early learning efforts, has been trying too hard. That is, trying too hard to play someone else’s music. What you demonstrate in all your videos, is, stuff them, just play what sounds good to myself, anything, anything random. Who cares? No one. Just PLAY. Cheers Rusty.
Thanks!thank you rusty. Do yo apple FaceTime or zoom. You lessons are spot on. I don’t get a lot of time to practice or play with folks and when I do I am tired and hurting. Your use of tech is absolutely perfect. Thank You I am starting to learn you tube channeling myself. Super thanks to you. Thank you sir😢😊🎉
I don’t use that Jim. You’ve been supporting my channel for a while and I do appreciate it!!! Thanks so much if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. See you soon Jim.🤛
Thank you sir. This weeks practice lesson will sound like I know what I am doing. I may stop at Guitar Center to practice maybe even be there for practice (jam) time😊
All your videos are helpful clear and connect with us older players. Keep making them and I will keep watching. Jay from Washington State. AKA: the Guitar Carpenter.
This is great! I’m an intermediate player who is interested in improving my solo techniques a bit, but more interested in making my rhythm playing more interesting by adding riffs, double stops, etc. More of this, please! Really like your videos.
I’m glad to hear that Kevin here is a link of one my rhythm playlist lessons. th-cam.com/play/PLPmjfallclgstSx42Ibv5b0SzpKJmBR9f.html&si=JTG6ZMLB05FSB8aT. Thanks for checking out my lessons! I hope to see you soon. 👍
An absolutely essential lesson right here. I really like how you show it right in the position where you are playing the chord. Makes it very intuitive. Another fine lesson Rusty!
Time is what’s stopping me. I work an average 60 hrs a week. Between your 2 channels im usually at least 1 video behind. Retention is so much harder when you don’t play regularly. But…your videos have been the most inspiring in the almost 10 yrs I’ve been on TH-cam. I thank you for that. Have a great week Rusty!
Thanks again Rusty for sharing some more of the guitar wisdom and tips you have obtained/learned from playing through the years. And it does help to play to a metronome although I admit I don't do that often enough. But, it's all good my friend. Keep 'em coming! 😎👍🎸Tim
Great video once again, Rusty. You’ve given us a lot of great material to work on. Your advice helps me slowly become a better player. I appreciate the effort you put into imparting your knowledge. Thank you, Steve
Found your video lessons to be very helpful. I'm an older guy, 68 years old, and decided to try my hand at guitar. Im trying to work on some basic blues stuff so any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the lessons though. Jim Mulford
@@jmulf229 I’m glad to hear that. And thanks again for supporting my channel. The best advice I can give you is to slowly learn the fretboard as you’re learning chords and scales. if you know what notes you’re playing you will get so much more out of these TH-cam lessons. Talk to you soon, buddy.👍
Fantastic lesson as usual, happy for the less usual side of it being targeted at players like myself lower down the skill level ladder. Thank you for sharing your experience knowledge and passion with those of us trying to make music. BEST AND PEACE
Rhythm and timing isn’t always an exact science. It’s a feel thing. I never learned by counting the beats and measures. I hope you can have some fun with this. Thanks a lot Chuck.👍
@@rustysguitar1 I get in trouble with anything not "even". Trying to strum You'll Accompany Me or Old Time Rock and Roll is beyond my skills......for now. I am not quitting. BEST AND PEACE, THANK YOU AGAIN
If you don’t sound funky after this MASTER CLASS, you don’t wanna! This is the dang CLINIC. can’t say nobody taught you. Can’t say you weren’t led here. I’m scared to sound this good. It’s really becoming understandable why Jimi burnt a few.
Well I haven’t got that much time to practice daily , but I do jam a lot and write songs , so that’s my routine .. just finding a good groove and lock into this … playing licks , fills and thrills and all Kinda stuff that brings on the magic…
I don't know why I did not work this out for myself. This is an amazing chord progression. Sounds amazing and so many learning opportunities, thanks so much sensai. Oh yes an now I know another way to play a major 7 chord. 💪
Hi Rusty, I hope that you are doing fine. Thank you for this video 👍🏼 What is holding me back? Taking (quality) time to sit down and play/practise in a relaxed frame of mind 😌 Your videos definitely help! All the best from Belgium 👍🏼🇧🇪🫶🏼

What is stopping me from being a better player? Me! I am my worst enemy, but thanks to you, Rusty, I have greatly improved! I am less of a scale runner or riff lord and more of a musician.
Thanks for checking out the video. I’m using the Carr Mercury V amp set clean with some reverb from the amp. And driving it with the J rocket audio archer pedal. Happy new year.!
Hey Rusty, would you say a modern electric guitarist needs to use a pic? I’ve been a classical guitarist for 20 years, and I’m just now branching out and playing for a band. Lead comes super easily to me, but Rythm is something I struggle with. My bandmates say it’s odd that I don’t use a pic, but I’ve got so much experience using my fingers straight on the strings I struggle with pics.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. There are many players that sound fantastic with just fingers. Also many players that hybrid pick. Like I do. Some rhythms are definitely harder with just your fingers. It really just matters what you’re trying to achieve from the guitar. Thanks again, Ricardo. See you soon.🎸 ✌️
