Just saw a TH-cam ad and they said learning guitar from TH-cam videos doesn't work. Total BS - we have Sean! Bonus, he's hilarious. And man is he on fire. Thank you for making my day, Sean.
YT videos are good for learning, but they shouldn't be the only resource one relies on. They're great for introducing players to various aspects of playing guitar, but they make it very easy to fall into the trap of knowing how without knowing why.
You're not just some goofy guy with lots of time on his hands. Your knowledge shines through. Love those quasi jazz chords. So simple even with the Am11 gravy. Do more!!!
@Sean I’ve been watching your videos for over a year, and loving them, and only on this video did I learn you have a Patreon with more lessons 🤣 going there now my friend! Thanks for all the info and keep it coming. You’re one of my fave ‘Tubers!
First thing I thought was what a funny dude, I have stumbled across him before a while back but didn't remember his name.. I had a ball watching this video, I was actually LOL. A down to earth, well-explained method to make a change from the boring chord progressions to more dynamic and expressive ones. More please.
This video was legit. Oy, special shout out to that cycling between those 2 F voicings in the chord progression. Stealing that. So perfect for a chorus, coming out of a hot 2nd verse, or tag.
Ok...I've been watching your videos for a little while... I just need to finally say that you're maybe the coolest instructor on YT! Man I wish I was your neighbor so I could come over, hang out, and learn things first hand. I've been taking lessons for a year and I'm no where as good as you. Sadly, I'm not sure I ever will be.
I’m having a hard time keeping up! You keep posting such great stuff and I learn so much from every video- but I can’t fully digest one before you drop the next one!
Great lesson again Sean and perfectly connects with the previous lesson. What I'd love to see next is more practical advice on how to move into the lead picking. You make it look so easy but after years of practice I still struggle with this. Can you elaborate on your technique...zoom in, slow it down and show us how to hit those notes with a pick and maintain perfect timing. 🙏
This was my approach to guitar pretty much lol. Never liked shows or doing it for a job, just liked it as a hobby and playing with friends and strangers at open mics. I learned how to play lots of chords in multiple positions and octaves. Once I mastered that, I started play the higher chords over my friends cowboy chords and added some fun arpeggiation to Give extra value to the music. I dont have to have the dedication of being part of a band but play a few songs live all the time cause freinds invite me up to be a guess support for a few songs
4 o’clock in the morning here in Germany, and I’m watching this 🤦♂️ call me a Sean Daniel junkie if you want, I don’t care…so there… thanks for this Sean another inspirational video 👍🏻❤️
SeanD ur a living and breathing masterclass my friend... U make everything as simple as ABC! Not forgetting ur a born comedian! 😂 Thank u for ur lessons 🙏
That Cminor11. I love it. How I wish there’d been a TH-cam 30 years ago when I started playing guitar. I spent a long time trying to work out what that absolutely magic chord was in “Walking on the Moon” but when I bought the sheet music it just said C. It was of course Cmin11.
Great lesson, but I was thinking sriracha. I love the M7, it just has that pop sound. The m11 is very cool, that's going in the quiver. I'm playing with an arpeggio role on that F at the 8th. Really enjoyable lesson.
How do you learn the notes on the frets easily(ish) as well as the major/minor and other chords that fit together like you describe. I know the open string notes but that’s about it. I enjoy listening to you talk about the theory
Have you made a Florida versus California video yet? You are living in California now, right? I’d love to hear your thoughts on the difference between the two.
Great lesson! Sean that move you are doing at 7:15 I want to learn ... but you are going too fast with the in-between notes. Too much coffee bro. There are some base notes in between that sound cool ... but cannot figure out what you are doing.
Thanks Sean this is great 👍 Question though: does the ability to move these extended chords around the fretboard based on the root only work for these shapes that were covered here (C, G, Am, F)? Hope that question makes sense
Hello Shaun , I love your lessons and have helped me no end . Thanks so much 👍great fun to . Ps if you’ve got Claptons number tell him ready 👍. Thanx again 👍👍
Sean - amazing as always. I am having a very tough time with the A minor. Is there an alternative fingering - maybe with the thumb? - or an easier voicing. Have some issues with reach on my middle finger. Similar issue with the F maj. I have stubby short fingers. Would appreciate any insight
I wish I could find an app that makes chords easier, most just throw the whole kitchen sink at you, why not have one that will give you all the chords for a key and alternatives with a tap of a button
It might be helpful, particularly for beginners, if you would mention when you are muting some strings with the fingers of the left hand. For example, the A string in the FM7 chord, at first position.
because you have, probably your favorite musicians have songs that follow this chord progression and similar popular chord progressions. the best part about learning theory is to learn how your personal favorite songs deviate from “normal” music theory, and implement that into your own playing!
jazz-ing up your chords isn´t "better" - it´s just advanced versions, wich may or may not fit a song. Bashing simple campfire chords is bad advice for beginner guitar players. So if you´re one, don´t listen to this dude here....and learn AND use those chords!

Love all your videos, I learn something real every time! Keep up your dry humor!
You're not just some goofy guy with lots of time on his hands. Your knowledge shines through. Love those quasi jazz chords. So simple even with the Am11 gravy. Do more!!!
You always seem to make great inspirational lessons Sean love this one thanks sir
I'll keep em coming!
best part about falling into a rut with my playing is making my way back to this channel
Happy to have ya!
@Sean I’ve been watching your videos for over a year, and loving them, and only on this video did I learn you have a Patreon with more lessons 🤣 going there now my friend! Thanks for all the info and keep it coming. You’re one of my fave ‘Tubers!
My guy! Thanks so much for the kind words and thanks for considering joining the Patreon!
Brilliant as always
And yes, you don't mention your Patreon at all, you should
First thing I thought was what a funny dude, I have stumbled across him before a while back but didn't remember his name.. I had a ball watching this video, I was actually LOL. A down to earth, well-explained method to make a change from the boring chord progressions to more dynamic and expressive ones. More please.
Thanks for watching!
it's super smart for you to include tabs of songs you play for gigs to make your patreon sound more like an investment than a class
Thanks for your amazing work!
This is the video I needed today. Keep on playing!
Thanks so much!
excellent, from an intermediate type of player. I knew this stuff but it made me revisit it as its a great base for improv. Thanks
between this and all the jazz chords I've been learning, my playing is really growing! Thank you.
Another stellar lesson! Thanks!
This video was legit. Oy, special shout out to that cycling between those 2 F voicings in the chord progression. Stealing that. So perfect for a chorus, coming out of a hot 2nd verse, or tag.
As usual, lots of good information.
I love this guys guitar videos
Agree the Patreon is amazing, you definitely should plug it more
Love this Sean opened up a totally new experience for me thank you
You just blew my mind. Thank you.

There are two options:
Sean posts less, or you play the videos at half speed.😀
Definitely love your sense of humor!!
One of my favorite lessons so far!
The advert that popped up for me halfway though this was "learn 100 songs on the piano with just these 4 chords" 😂
I've seen that one too!
Love your sense of humour, terrific chord shapes.😎
Great lesson, Sean🤟🤟
Pure dead brilliant Sean
Thanks Sean, that was a real tonic for my play!
Spice is the spice of life, think you got me onto your patreon with that
awesome lesson my man

Thanks for sharing the secret sauce of great guitar playing. As always, appreciated!!
great lesson Sean thank you

Awesome, just what I needed 👍
This is a great lesson .Thankyou 😊
Sounds nice. I definitely wouldn't say snappier sounding as you suggest. If anything, it's far more mellow sounding. 🎸
Awesome information.
Nick Mason’s Band is called Saucerful of Secrets
Excellent
You’re incredible
Love it!
Going through a few i havent seen.
Yamaha fs820 came in yesterday.. Old Man Hands.. Blaming you & Hudson 🫵😁💨☕️🩵
Congrats on the new guitar!!
Great lesson, but I was thinking sriracha. I love the M7, it just has that pop sound. The m11 is very cool, that's going in the quiver. I'm playing with an arpeggio role on that F at the 8th. Really enjoyable lesson.
Nice Martin.
You were super funny in this one!! 😂
Just subbed because you're really good. You remind me of Peter McKinnon, another great teacher/influencer on YT.
Make some space and fill that space with spice- you better believe it, Rights!
:)
9:01 'thats a good exercises'
chords and notes
You crack me up Bro😂
Good videos..great teaching .
Spice! Dune!

Two guitars playing different fingering would be killer sound.
The high frets are for leaders yes? Or snobs* haha
FYI if you're trying to learn Jason Mraz "I'm Yours", this is also a video on how to play it lol.
I have short fingers so it’s seems I am always hitting the first string when playing chords in that fashion. But, a good lesson overall
Have you made a Florida versus California video yet? You are living in California now, right? I’d love to hear your thoughts on the difference between the two.
Nice lesson)
Mostly I have my in A string in G.
Lot of advantages too me.
Does that martin sound better in the room? Sounds muted and dull in the vid
I love that Martin!
Great lesson! Sean that move you are doing at 7:15 I want to learn ... but you are going too fast with the in-between notes. Too much coffee bro. There are some base notes in between that sound cool ... but cannot figure out what you are doing.

It can work for any chord! I'll try and do a followup lesson on this :)
@@seandaniel23 appreciate it🙌🙌🙌
Hello Shaun , I love your lessons and have helped me no end . Thanks so much 👍great fun to . Ps if you’ve got Claptons number tell him ready 👍. Thanx again 👍👍

So are suggesting your patreon page?!
How do I find this video on the patreon app
slight correction: the phrase is "the people's key of e Minor" :-P
nice video
I think D7 closes this prog up better than F and I’m not afraid to say it.
2:01 *Alex Lifeson has entered the chat*
T H A N K Y O U ! 👊🤓
Cool vid. Thanks man.
Do guitarists regularly practice to a click? Ha....got t answer. Forgetaboutit! 🤙
love your entertaining videos! But... chord diagrams on screen sure would be helpful
blow minding video!
A corresponding chord diagram would help viewers tremendously.
Except you were playing major not minor petatonic. But same pattern 3 frets down
The secret sauce is train your ears everyday.
I'm in my man; Ryde, Ryde on; even from California
He's basically just riffing here 🙂
I wish I could find an app that makes chords easier, most just throw the whole kitchen sink at you, why not have one that will give you all the chords for a key and alternatives with a tap of a button
Goofy guy but great guitar teacher! 👍
I've seen few guys go for a fool's solo at open mic night. Despicable.
I'm a fool 🦉
It might be helpful, particularly for beginners, if you would mention when you are muting some strings with the fingers of the left hand. For example, the A string in the FM7 chord, at first position.
A guy named Tony Rice played in the fools fool zone.
When I try to play following music theory, everything sounds so boring to me. Like I’ve heard it a thousand times before🤨
because you have, probably your favorite musicians have songs that follow this chord progression and similar popular chord progressions.
the best part about learning theory is to learn how your personal favorite songs deviate from “normal” music theory, and implement that into your own playing!
I pity the Fool!!
Great video. You look and act kinda drunk, which I enjoyed. Thanks for the lesson
Slap some distortion onto it and you'll hear nothing of that fancy stuff anymore.
Everything beyond power chords is called jazz.
Replacing C with a chord that is not C? Wrong from a song writer perspective.
Hes funny
with the "a minor 11" you have the same notes on the E & A string and the same on the D and G string what sounds actually pretty ugly tbh
jazz-ing up your chords isn´t "better" - it´s just advanced versions, wich may or may not fit a song.
Bashing simple campfire chords is bad advice for beginner guitar players. So if you´re one, don´t listen to this dude here....and learn AND use those chords!
I think women are the spice of life and a variety of them is totally spice.
