The 'K' series space stations were named so, because they were built along the galactic border with the Klingons and acted as a multi-purpose space station, to resupply both civilian and Starfleet ships alike. They were also listening posts keeping an eye on the movement of ships in Klingon space. However once the Klingon fleet started utilizing the cloaking device, these stations were not that useful anymore, hence the later Epsilon listening posts built to replace them ( As seen in The Motionpicture).
You are partially correct that the K series stations were later sold to private interests, or scrapped though. Otherwise it was an interesting video.

It's pretty interesting how many variants on the "saucer/dome with central spine" type designs there have been.
Even back to the very first on-screen UFP station, K7, they were clearly modular designs built-around a central spine. Then the Orbital Office Complex/Regula 1 model, Earth Spacedock, Jupiter Station, etc models continued it. But you're showing some unique designs from STO or some of the books which I really like! We have smaller mushrooms than ESD, we have larger sprawls like K13, and even clear transition-points between the 23rd century Starbase One design and its 24th century versions.
Lastly I'll point-out that the Klingon station Ty'Gokor also has a pretty similar backbone-first design, it's just the bits they have jutting-off it are blocks instead of saucers.
I really like this design aspect in Trek, because it builds-on the very realistic uninhabited-central-truss design for space stations. Some of the windows feel a little superfluous for what you imagine are connecting-corridors and elevator shafts, but maybe there's actually a number of crew quarters inside them like you said with K7.

DS stations are bases operated by Starfleet in the edge of federation space or in non-federation space with strategic or humanitarian reasons. DS stations usually tell federation personal to be on alert when approaching and to double check the local rules as it might not follow standard Starfleet regulations. This is especially the case if it’s based on non-federation space.

An interesting fact is that only two-thirds of DS9's fusion generators worked by the time Sisko and crew took over. The others were surveyed by Federation engineers and found to be too dangerous to run with cracked liners and broken control machinery. Since most of the station's power had been used to smelt Bajoran ore however they were not missed when Terek Nor changed roles (and names!) There was also a tacked-on external fuel tank down in the reactor ring as well that may or may not have been sabotaged by either Bajoran terrorists or potentially by Section 31.
A lot of really nice design went into Terek Nor/DS9. However I must say that I always thought the spinning drum photon torpedo launchers that were installed after The Founders began to make their presence felt were flawed. I don't think that can possibly be the most efficient way to launch swarms of missiles.

I always assumed that the Deep Space naming scheme was for bases outside Federation territorial jurisdiction. Otherwise I can’t help but think the people who have lived near them might feel quite insulted that their area of space might be considered sort of parochial or on the periphery, where presumably they might consider themselves to live in the center of their own understanding of the universe

Starfleet likely wouldn't name DS9 number 9 if there were more of them. After all, the series starts with the moment of passing it to starfleet. So they would have picked the latest "free" number, right?

From a fleet management point of view, repurposing vehicle number is the main source of chaos. Nobody does it really. There must be data in the system about the decomissioned platforms, for research and development purposes. But if you start repurposing old fleet numbers, the whole dataset just gets mixed up. Especially bad if they are on a different location. All you need is a supply freighter missed the last data update, and ending up at the wrong end of the galaxy. The same with combat support, manpower transfer, etc.

Seeing how it is indestructible how would the teleporter be able to break it down to move it elsewhere? Also what other indestructible metals aka unobtanium could be passed through a teleporter and make it to ithe location they are trying to send it?

I just moved to where I currently live in June although the closing was complete in May, but as of June 4 the city changed my street name, although I've had to use the new name for some things in the old name for others because somethings take longer to proliferate their systems and don't update properly so it's been very messy.

What I always found fascinating and both beautiful is the number of windows, it just shows the colossal size of those structures, but somehow I think that people from the future are gona laugh at our perception of future, cuz the necessity to have windows is probably gona fade with screens being better and better. Why needing a window when you can have a screen on the bulkhead with same resolution as if you were watching outside for real. But I would always prefer a good ol’ fashioned window in my quarters
