    The internal power brick is underrated. Pretty much all the other models have a giant brick to cable manage. It doesn’t have KVM or 90s USB-C but it has good enough usb for phone charging and all the essential connections. The curve is also not really for immersion like an ultra wide it’s for warping reflections from the immediate field of view which is a disadvantage of glossy panels. It looks pretty much flat in use.

    I am so interested in your tests of monitors. Thank you for posting this excellent review of the Alienware product. I think the quality of your presentation is outstanding and so, too, is the videography. I often wish I could have a tour of your testing facility and the chance to meet you and your team. I will watch for your discussion of competing monitors such as the MSI product. Since I am a software developer -- on Tier 1 systems, you see, where text is quite common -- I often wonder if a really high end monitor would make a difference to my performance. I'm on the older side and usually watching monitor displays of some kind for 8 to 10 hours per day, sometimes quite a lot longer. Thank you for a very welcome product review and evaluation.

    I highly advice against this monitor at this point in time. Not for performance reasons but it has a critical flaw on how it's packed, leading to (partially not so subtile) scratches.
    This isn't affecting only a small number of units but a general flaw of the packaging process. Only the degree at which individual units are affected differs.
    At that price point I wouldn't buy it until Dell has changed this.

    This is the best QD-OLED 4k 240hz when you factor in reliable and easy to work with customer support. It’s got the same panel as all the other QD-OLEDs this year. The ASUS gets the most praise but that’s assuming nothing goes wrong.

    As a game dev, It’s amusing to note that while this comes with a 3-year warranty, I’ve switched monitors at least six times in three years. I’ve used a variety of monitors, including a 144Hz TN panel with 1920p resolution, a curved VA panel, a 1920p IPS panel, a 2k 144Hz IPS panel, a 60Hz 4k IPS panel, and a 144Hz 4k IPS panel. Now, I have this current one. However, I find it unlikely that anyone would retain a screen for three more years without encountering this specific issue. It just doesn’t seem plausible.

Unfortunately, i'm sensitive to the vrr flickering so i had to turn off gsync completely but luckily there isn't too much tearing if you can keep the framerate within the refresh rate of the monitor, so not a big deal for me. An interesting point is that to me, it seem that monitor was flickering only in games that support frame gen (nvidia) like horizon forbidden west and cyberpunk. I've tried Assassin's Creed Valhalla and it works fine with gsync enabled. I got my AW3225QF three days ago and I love it. The slight curve, the glossy QD-OLED Panel and the eARC feature, wich works perfect with my ELAC Debut ConneX DCB41.
    The availability and price make it a no brainer over the 32" ASUS and MSI OLEDs. It's a shame to charge these insane prices in Europe.
    The only concern is the burn-in topic. We will see if this is an issue.

    • @EarthIsFlat456
      @EarthIsFlat456 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Burn-in shouldn't be an issue if you don't let the same images stay on the same areas of the screen for long durations (like several hours a day and every day). I've had my Alienware OLED monitor for a year and a half now and I use it extensively but I haven't got any burn-in yet (none that I can see at least). On the other hand my headphones' wireless receiver which has an OLED screen has very noticeable burn-in because it's almost always displaying the same image on the same area.

      @BenkaiDebussy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@andreaswoehler26 With 2-3 days per week I probably wouldn't worry too much. You really have to fuck up pretty badly to get burn-in. I had it happen to me once on a TV (I think an LG C8), and it was because I left the TV sitting on my receiver's home screen constantly for months (which had this picture of a piano that was the worst thing possible for causing burn-in). And I also think OLEDs back then had inferior burn-in protection compared with current ones. My current LG C1 has been fine and experienced 0 burn-in since I got it a couple years ago.
      If you're concerned, you can also do something like turn down brightness when doing work.

    I've got this one for around 15 days: I'm glad I didn't wait (MSI / ASUS / Gigabyte models, besides the fact they are much more expensive, they are not available)
    But, after 2 weeks use, I wish the monitor was bigger (eg: 38") - why ? because, I need to use 125% scale in Windows to be useable... and with a 38 inch monitor, I could use 100%)
    And finally, I received it with the firmware M2B102, already updated twice (M2B104, then M2B105); and HDR in Windows 11 is a bit cumbersome (I have to disable/enable each time I wake it up, and I have to use tools like HDRFix when playing games like Ghost of Tsushima; and if I disable Dolby Vision, this monitor is barely useable using Windows desktop + HDR enabled (because brightness is dropped; not the case with Dolby Vision enabled)

    If you turn off Display Scaling and turn on GPU scaling 1440p resolution actually doesn’t look bad. Also, I mostly use the True Black 400 mode, plenty bright enough for me as I work during the day and game at night. If you have windows you will have to black them out as the glossy display shows hella reflection. Anything is better than a disgusting matte coating

    I am using one of these right now. My Favourite mode is Custom Colour HDR with saturation turned to 65 (except for green on 50), and contrast 100. Full screen brightness, 1 and 10% window brightness differ between HDR modes. I think the HDR 1000 is great for highlights but does lacks the 'perceived' full screen brightness of the other HDR modes, especially when gaming, and is objectively dimmer in the 10% window. Custom Colour HDR is the best HDR 10 mode because of the ability to increase colour saturation.

    I bought this monitor 1 month ago, I am generally happy with it, except for the gsync support which is unusable because of the flickering it causes.

      @@yarip.4293 What makes you feel hesitant about the curve? From my experience, curved monitors can have a slight learning curve (pun intended), but they offer great immersion for gaming and consuming content. I’ve heard that for certain professional work, like graphic design or video editing, the curve might introduce some distortions, especially when dealing with straight lines or grids. However, for gaming and media consumption, curved monitors excel at drawing you into the action. I've been using curved monitors since 2019, and I've never looked back the immersion, especially in racing or first-person games, is next level. If you're considering switching from flat to curved, it's a change you'll likely adapt to quickly, and it enhances the experience in most cases. I hope this helps!

      Im considering to make the same change, my current monitor is also M32U, how big of a upgrade is this compared to the gigabyte and what are your thoughts about the curve?

    • @MarcAureIe
      @MarcAureIe 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nese1 I think it's a small / medium improvement in every aspect of the monitor, as the m32u is already a good monitor.
      When I first turned my aw3225qf next to the M32U I wasn't as amazed as the many reviewers said I would be. It's more like "oh I didn't noticed the M32U was bad at this"
      -> Deep blacks : yes the oled has deeper blacks, I didn't noticed how high the m32u's blacks were and how much blooming it had.
      -> Motion clarity, same thing. The AW is awesome, better than the m32u but it's not night and day.
      -> Refresh rate : the gap from 144 and 240hz is noticeable, and more comfortable but it's not as big as 60->144hz. And there are only few games where you'll reach 240 anyway.
      -> Build quality : the m32u is already well built imo, the AW is slightly better.
      -> Color Accuracy is great out of the box. My m32u was calibrated and almost as good.
      -> The one big improvement is HDR, it looks fantastic, not even comparable.
      Now for the curve, I was a bit sceptical, I thought it doesnt make sense on a 16:9 monitor but I was wrong. It's immersive, it looks great, I love it. I even wish my M32U was curved the same way to avoid blooming on the edges (something I didn't notice untill I bought an Oled).

    biggest issue with oleds is, they make amazing media devices, like TVs. They do not make the best monitors, especially for productivity where your software has file structure that is static most of the time, as well as a windows task bar. Nobody wants to baby a monitor and spend that kind of money with the potential for burn in. I'd rather just settle for a Mini-led monitor and get close to the picture experience without the downside.

    Great review, as always. I have a 48" C2 (LG), and I have to say that I LOVE it and I doubt that I could ever go back to a smaller screen. I'm actually thinking of going 65" G4 to use as my daily monitor. But pairing it with an RTX 4090 may be a bit of a waste as these TV's only go upto 120hz. The Samsung goes upto 144hz, but Samsung just doesn't have the build quality as LG (this TV has fallen off my desk TWICE ---- a good 30+ inches of height ---- , and not a "noticeable" scratch on it. That made me a true believer in LG build quality). Could the same be said of Alienware?

    Had mine since they first came out and love it. The only complaint I have is the panel defaults to 120Hz when you I turn it on. To get 240Hz, I have to turn it off then on again. This seems silly to me. The OSD should have a setting available that allows you to set it to 240Hz all the time. But, I haven't found one. Anyway, I still love this monitor despite this one gripe.
