About The Boys: THE BOYS is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and their formidable Vought backing.

Every time that Homelander sends a chill through your body, thank the phenomenal acting of Antony Starr.
You mean every time Antony Starr seems human you can thank me

Can nobody be more perfect than Anthony Starr as Homelander.
I can at least throw Robert Downey Jr's *Tony Stark* and
J.K Simmons' *J. Jonah Jameson* into the ring.
Real disappointment that the man isn't going to voice the character in MK1.

Has he got an award for playing homelander??? I seriously cannot think of the last time a character has made me tense up whenever they were on screen. The look he gives Ashley at 7:09 after she questions him. He didn’t say a word yet spoke so loudly. Anthony Starr is such a phenomenal actor, he plays this role perfectly
It gives me chills
I know it’s an extremely messed up situation and I don’t condone his behavior but that scene always made me laugh, the amount of anger in his face because she hesitated at the totally unnecessary demand made only to shame her in public for no reason, his face looks like he just asked his cheating wife who the guy is and she played dumb but all she did was not want to take a wig off 😂 He’s seriously the most petty evil little man

Homelander is actually Anti-hero
@@Irfaninsta the guy who cut a plane in half in the very first episode, gave terrorists superpowers and loved a literal nazi? An antihero?! The in-universe public worshipping him as a hero has no relation to us viewers seeing him as a mass-murdering villain.

@@beardedchimpthen what about butcher's doing,he literally killed gunpowder and the dectective supe without any hesitation and offcourse he attacked them first!???
@@beardedchimpI mean thats a metaphor of all what USA did. Trained Ben Laden, shelted nazis and so on, and so on.
@@sashagrey2984 yep, I consider The Boys to be an explicit satirical critique of US imperialism, exceptionalism and neoconservative brutal history.
The fact the satire is so overwhelming obvious and not at all subtle, makes the sudden realisation by the (far) right and subsequent outrage absolutely hilarious.
Omni Man's rage would give Homelander a run for his money.
Omni man was even more scary bc of how calm he was while committing acts of violence
What's the need to compare a genetically modified human with powers to a being who literally belongs to a super-powered race from an alien planet?
Omni man is the type of guy that is known to be the most calmest individual but the moment he gets pissed everyone shits themselves
Eh not really. Despite the vast differences in power scaling, Omni-Man is a boy scout through and through, at least compared to Homelander. His brutality is much more potent.
@@blackirontarkus3156 So in a nutshell: Homelander barks more than he bites and Omni-Man bites more than he barks.

Antony
I don't think he's acting... it's au natural
The writing for the show is done really well too tho to be fair. A villain as unhinged and unpredictable as homelander is much more dangerous and scary, considering the stupid strength bro has.
The cast says the most like their character is Antony Starr. lol
Homelander is acting as Anthony Starr not the other way around
always loved the parallel between superman and homelander, one being raised with love and care and the other in a lab. i want to see how he grew up from the child vogelbaum said he was into the villain he is today!

Antony Starr is a remarkable actor. What a performance he has given as Homelander in The Boys. Instant fan.
He's not acting
it's really interesting how he seems to change over the course of the show; season 1, he seemed dangerous in a nearly composed way with an underlying barely restrained danger but a capacity to remain calculating when needed. And he's since just continuously gone increasingly off the rails -- by the time we hit season 3, he's got that wild-eyed insanity way more often.
I assume thats to show his (Downward or Evil) Growth, and realizing that "Vought" who had basically spent his life brainwashing him into being afraid of them in the sense your afraid of upsetting your parents, but now hes coming to realize that theirs no one that can tell him what to do and hes spiraling because of it, just my opinion :)
@@larryman82 you nailed it
thanks! I LOVE this show :)@@Auziuwu
@@larryman82 Also it seems Homelander started out believing he had to play this "lovable hero" part for the public to love him, then he gradually found out his fans will still love him even if he goes full on "I AM BETTER " *lasers someones head in the middle of a crowd* so he's showinh way less restraint and acting more like the desperate, arrogant and reckless person he is
@@manuba_ Very well put and very true, he did think that and then after losing control and lasering the guy for hitting his son with something small, and people didnt turn on him, and also because the only person that really had control over him is dead (By his hand) but she controlled him because he was desperate for a mother figure, and the whole milk thing...

If Antony Star wasn’t portraying Homelander right now…he’d be the perfect Reverse Flash
He'd be a great anti hero too. Like in banshee
I know it doesn't lessen his actions, but everyone seems to forget that homelander was raised in a lab, cooked alive in a furnace to test his durability, even if it didn't damage him he felt all the pain, deprived of human contact for days when he needed it most, deprived of a mother figure due to the strength of his super powers which he didn't ask for, deprived of a father figure because soldier boy had been captured by the Russians, his personality is built on a foundation made of chalk, he is a walking timebomb (in a less literal sense than his father but you get it) He is damaged so far beyond repair there is barely a reasonable thought running through his bulletproof brain.
Agreed. This character did terrible things, but in the end, Vought created their own Frankenstein, and all the damage caused to humans is a consequence of the actions of the people at Vought. Homelander had no choice and became what they made him. Stan Edgar called him a "bad product", but well... they fabricated this "bad product."

7:17 This is the moment where A-Train and Deep knew, that they f-'d up. And should've chosen different careers.
"Homelander loses it" perfect way to summarise the entire series
I am starting to believe anthony starr genuinly thinks like homelander because there is no way someone can act so perfectly in a character like him. this dude is goooooodddd
I don't think he lost his cool at 2:17 That seemed like a show for the others: by Homelander showing caution with Starlight, he implies that he's dangerous to them.
What?
1:52 that dude turned around when he saw homelander boutta lose his shit
Love when he yells shut the fu€k up 😭😭
Antony Starr better be given some kind of award for this performance because my god he’s absolutely CRUSHING it
Crushing what? A 2 years old kid in a grown up body with too much of power given? Basically "mammy, mammy", and "kill, kill, kill"... not much to portrait there.
Since he's the Homelander, he thinks he can do whatever the f*** he wants...
I love when he loses it completely 😌

The a train moment was the biggest oh F*** moment for me. I was instantly scared for him when he asked “what did you say?”
That scene with homelander and a train is like me and my dad when i say something behind his back 😭
But would you have the power to move away from your dad as fast as the light?
That scene makes no sense to me at all.
@@MinekEzQM ummm yeah my dad is kinda slow, although not as fast as light I do have the power to move away from my dad quickly

At least Homelnder doesn't discriminate, he'll even tweak out on himself.
They should release a prequel for homelander showing how he was raised in the lab as a kid.
Homelander is a phenomenal villain, every time he's on screen, I get incredibly nervous because he's such a ruthless psycopath and you never know what he's about to do. And Anthony Starr nails the role
Its funny because without the powers he sounds like half the toxic bosses I worked for...

The guy who plays butcher, and Jensen Ackles as soldier boy are also phenomenal.
He’s great but he doesn’t “carry the show”. There’s several great actors playing great characters contributing to this show. You’re just discrediting all of the talent involved in this show.
