Agreed! Oda's going back and giving more closure to the character whose stories on Wando ended somewhat abruptly - and there's no question Carrot's story lacked closure! Yamato's conversation with Luffy was conspicuously omitted - so we knew that Oda had to return to that scene. But why would Oda not close out Carrot's story if she were just going to do exactly as Inu and Neko ordered and take over Zou?
Something that especially gives me hope is that last panel of Carrot we see in 1056. At the end of Wano we see basically everyone have a happy ending and smile on their face, but Carrot. Oda loves giving everyone happy endings and it's kinda hard to believe Carrot's happy ending is accepting a job that is the exact opposite of her personality.
Fully agree, except her personality can accept that job. She just needs to mature like anyone, Luffy is happy go lucky to and showed and learned leadership skills through his journey to the person he is now. All Carrot needs is that and the same thing.
@@Swampert444 Exactly, Lookout is the obvious job for Carrot, especially useful with her insane jumping ability (and she is not restricted to a day/night cycle like most Minks) so Carrot could take the Lookout role when she's not sleeping. I am sure we will see Carrot mature when/if she joins and has to work as part of the crew, finding her place within it while also growing as a person.
I agree, too much I feel is setting up Carrot to stow away again. The bringing up of Pedro's inherited will, Wanda saying she will help Carrot to govern Zou, Carrot pointing out she isn't right for the position, etc. It doesn't sit right that Oda would allow Carrot to be forced into a role she is not comfortable with filling, especially since he puts GREAT emphasis on those with an inherited will, seeing that obligation through. Plus Carrot herself has never been a leader, shown aspirations of being a leader, or been all that attached to Zou itself. It would be even less organic storytelling than having Yamato decide OFFSCREEN that she's not going. Not only having Carrot not go, but her deciding she will rule Zou..Because the obligation was thrust onto her without her consent. Neko and Inu claim Carrot having inheritied Pedro's will is why she was chosen...But unless Carrot specifically told them offscreen, they have no way to know WHAT Pedro's will was. Carrot knows, though. I am sure that final passing of the torch is burned into her memory. Like an explosion. Vivi, Rebecca, and Momo all have obligations to their respective nations. Their entire journey was to free their homelands from tyrants who oppressed them. Zou was never conquered and Carrot's goal was never to free and rule it. It would break the Oda Princess pattern and lack the setup all those others has.
Exactly! Completely agreed on all points. All the characters who stayed behind were clearly shown to be content with their choices. Not so for Carrot, who didn't even have final say. She didn't even agree before Inu and Neko concluded the conversation, as if it were a done deal. If that were the end for Carrot, it would completely remove any agency from her character.

I'd be fine with Carrot returning to Zou in the epilogue to the manga to rule it, having grown and matured from the experience...But she's not ready for the responsibility being thrust upon her. Like you pointed out it would only confirm Perospero's taunting words, and since when has Oda let the villain have the last word and be proven right? Like you say it would strip Carrot of all her agency, or her ability to actually follow Pedro's will through. Oda would be giving up on her and negating all the setup he put into Carrot's entire character. Just to write her out of the story till the very end. It would be confirmation he failed her as a character and himself as a writer.

I think based on the events in the story now that were getting 3 straw hat members all at once in chapter 1059, Carrot, Hancock and Vivi. Chapter title 10th to 12th like all the other straw hat joining chapter manga titles, then they'll do a huge celebration toast and the crew will get excited with their new members going to the next island.

I do wonder how Vivi and Hancock would manage to find Luffy at the same time Carrot makes her appearance. I really hope we get that, we know Vivi is set up to come back, Hancock may well do due to the whole Warlord System being broken down, and Carrot, well...To not have her join would invalidate her entire arc.
You missed something critical. Wano is an entire arc about not being forced to fit roles you do not want to. And you mean to tell me it’s going to end with Carrot being pressured into doing something she doesn’t feel equipped to do by characters who are, once again, abandoning their responsibility to their country? Something we were told throughout Wano was wrong and literally caused all the problems. Heck Grandpa Kozuki abandoning Wano by hiding for 20 years was something he’s so guilty over that he’s going to remain in hiding for the rest of his life because he cannot face the people he abandoned.
Exactly, it would completely go against the entire point of Wano to have that moral lesson NOT apply to Carrot. Plus it would mean Perospero was right.

I did a series reread over the last few months, and one thing a lot of people don't remember that you didn't even include is that Dog and Cat stow away TWICE in the Oden flashback. First they are revealed to have stowed away when Izo is allowed on board the Moby Dick, but also when Oden joins Roger, there is a panel with Izo, Dog and Cat saying "they are staying behind because they have gotten comfortable on this ship" but then when they depart there's a "lolno Dog and Cat stowed away again" gag. They didn't need to stow away again, they were invited and chose to stay... And then stowed away anyway for the lulz.
It feels like Carrot has been set up to become the 10th member. She is a perfect candidate for the lookout while also being the apprentice of the straw hat pirates.
Fully agree, Carrot was planned to be number 10 in Oda's original plan. He changed plans to become 13 including Luffy, and I think the last 2 after Carrot will be Hancock and Vivi. But Carrot was always planned as Oda said on wanting 10 members, Carrot his last the year of the rabbit for his birthday year.
When Sanji knocks the bounty posters out of Robin's hands, there were 14 papers for some reason. The current Straw Hats make up 10 and the top 3 of the Cross Guild raises the number to 13 but who's the 14th...? God, I can only hope.

Of course she’s joining. All SH have a skillset allows them that specifically allows them to fufil a traditional role on a ship. The SH do not have a lookout.

After Yamato didnt join i realized Carrot is 120% joining. If you look at the moment it directly parallels the situation we had with Vivi and Alabasta. For that one Robin snuck on instead so i have no doubt that Carrot is legit sneaking on the boat. Carrot is Straw Hat material and anyone who says she isnt hasnt been paying attention

But as time went on Oda probably changed to 12 new straw hats to make 13 as people speculated. So I made my post why 11 and 12 will be and are Hancock and Vivi. Oda even teased them in a interview awhile, were seeing those foreshadowed events right now.

Very good analysis. Maybe this explains why Carrot hasn't gotten a dramatic moment with Luffy, as people equate that to her not being qualified to join. If she did, she'd be far more along in her road to maturity, and Oda wants to save that for when it counts.
If you read chapter 1058, i want to know your thoughts if there's still a possibility for Carrot to join and having a bounty too. I still find it strange that during WCI only Luffy and Sanji got bounties but the rest was ignored. If a bounty for Carrot isn't shown anywhere I think there's not a chance for her to join.
If you check the comments here, my theory is Carrots reveal is being saved for 1059 and Hancock and Vivi will all join the crew with her all at once. 3 new members and their bounties revealed together after 1058 into 1059, and then after 13 straw hats and 9th to 12th chapter title. The crew will be complete in 1059 chapter. Oda's been saving this I predict, so thats why Carrot is absent here till later. Carrot is probably gonna find Luffy like the rest and Sabo and Coby are bringing Hancock and Vivi to Luffy to join his crew.
It's worth noting that when the news coo arrives with the bounty posters, Sanji jumps at Robin and sends all the wanted posters flying. This could be an excuse to not show Carrot's bounty poster yet, though in my opinion she doesn't really NEED one. Also back in post-Enies Lobby Usopp didn't technically rejoin until after those wanted posters were already shown. We have no clue what 1059 will focus on, but I think it doesn't absolutely have to be that chapter that confirms or denies Carrot joining.

After reading chapter 1058 which is coming out soon, I still think Carrot is joining the crew too. I think 3 straw hats will join in chapter 1059 in several weeks, Carrot, Hancock, and Vivi will all join the crew at once in 1059 in my opinion. She doesn't have to stowaway, she just needs to show up to Luffy and state her purpose to him. After the events of the reverie and Vivi missing, I think Coby and Sabo are gonna bring Vivi and Hancock to Luffy, and Carrot will also show up also to their ship. Oda once said we'll get new straw hats successively one after another, well that would a perfect way to do it in my opinion. I already put a post out on why I think Carrot, Hancock and Vivi all will join the Straw Hat crew very soon on the One Piece reddit. Check it out if you want. But yes Carrot is joining, its just getting delayed. Oda didnt do all that setup for her for nothing unlike Yamato which was a trick character distracting us from Carrot who is being setup to pretend not join like the other straw hats as Morj said, which makes Carrots chances of joining very, very high. So my bets is we will get there bounties and Carrot, Hancock and Vivi joining the crew all at once in chapter 1059. And then the entire crew will be complete. Also remember that Oda's birth year is the year of the rabbit and also Oda said he wanted 10 members always to make 11 total, he's probably changed that to 13 now but we still only got 9 members in the crew not including Luffy. So Oda's original plan for the amount of Straw Hats is not completed yet people keep forgetting, Carrot is the 10th member and was always destined to join. She's the Bolero in that original SH sketch, Bolero is a short shirt worn by women, just like Carrot is wearing as her default Zou musketeer outfit.
Yeah, it doesn't necessarily need to be a stowaway situation. I think it could play out differently from chapter 823 so it's not repeating the same exact story beats. I do think it would make a lot of sense if she clearly explained her decision to at leas Wanda and Shishilian before leaving. I could imagine, if it is a surprise, Carrot will just call down from the crow's nest when she spots land. Or maybe, IF Caribou is aboard the ship, it's a double stowaway reveal; beating him up reveals he absorbed Carrot who also stowed away. Don't necessarily love this one because I'd prefer if Caribou hitched a ride with Kid instead. Maybe Drake is with Law.

i know the anime can add more thing that could not be in the manga but for me is like ... why add all this estra escenes giving more character to carrot and all the extra escenes whit her and the strawhats is like a lot of them where they look like she is alredy part of the crew.... my opinion isthat they know she will join

I changed my mind, I think Carrot will stowaway for sure now. And parallel Robin, I wrote a few last 3 Straw Hats theory posts on the One Piece reddit, Carrot, Hancock and Vivi. I wrote in one of my posts on how Wano is paralleling Alabasta and Water 7/Enies Lobby/Post Enies Lobby. Us getting 3 crew members at once in Post Enies Lobby will happen again here in 1059 along with one of them being a stowaway in Robin and Carrot from a dupe in Vivi and Yamato. As you said in the video. So yes Carrot will stowaway most likely to parallel this in 1059, and I think Sabo and Coby will bring Vivi and Hancock to Luffy to join based on recent Reverie events. Also notice Jinbei never got his toast as a crew member yet and no Straw Hat person line in the chapter titles. More Straw Hats are coming to join I predict and Oda is hiding it, cliffhanger with Sabo hint at the end. We'll get the 9th to 12th person title next chapter 1059 and get the toast for the new crewmates and their bounty posters next chapter too. Also Tsukimi Moon Viewing festival is next week in Japan, Rabbit on the Moon. Perfect timing for us to be on break this week for that release date for chapter 1059. Carrot will be in it no doubt and join then with the rest. 13 total Straw Hats.

In chapter 1059 I predict Carrot, Hancock and Vivi to all join the Straw Hats to make 13 straw hats. Their bounties revealed and the Straw Hats fully celebrate all their new members, they only meant the Wano centric characters goodbyes not Carrot whos more important than them and deserves a goodbye proper send off. Carrot is joining but is being saved for later. Chapter 1059 might be named 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th like the other crewmate joining chapters. 1059 is the key chapter number to wait for.
the Straw Hats saying good bye to everyone off screen doesn't really matter if the Carrot Stowaway theory holds true. They say good bye, Carrot isn't happy with the situation she's in, so she sneaks on just before they leave. We'll just have to wait and see.
I would like to think so but who knows. Wano is full of terrible writing decisions. It's very possible that Oda literally just decided to half ass her story in a way that doesn't make sense. Maybe he went ahead and made her the leader of the Minks despite that not ever being a part of her story. Maybe he really did decide to just randomly end her story without having her say goodbye to the strawhats. He completely skipped over Marco saying goodbye to the strawhats after all.

dude it's never gonna happened everyone was so desperate , for carrot to join luffy's crew but , oda didn't make that happened , he was just messing around with us , wanted us to have that kind of attachement with her ,giving us false hope in order to crush it in the end , she was a side character all along with no benefit to the straw hats. I'm trying to keep my expectations reasonable, but I really want Carrot to join just so Chopper finally has a little sister in the crew. Guess I'm gonna fan the flames a little more. Chapter 1059 is set to be officially released on September 11, and the annual Moon-Viewing Festival (Tsukimi) is set to be on the 10th this year. It's too bad that the pun play with 1058 (jugoya) didn't pan out. I was surprised that Oda didn't even bring up any mention of the moon in some way, but it makes sense if he's planning to bring Carrot on the crew (while they celebrate Jinbe's joining lol) in time for said festival. Oda is really keen on keeping to the schedule when it comes to holidays. I can even guess that Carrot's birthday may be set on that day in a later SBS, or at least some variation of the 15th night of the 9th lunar month, so 9/15 could work too. Besides, it would be the ultimate bait-n-switch troll play from him to lead so many to think that Yamato would join, only to reveal the place was meant for Carrot to jump in instead. Imagine that he was so excited to surprise everyone with Carrot that he even cut short the ending to Wano just to make it for this holiday deadline, haha! Also, thanks for the Tropical Freeze OST. With every strawhat that joined in their respective arcs, they always been named dropped, silhouette, and/or physically appears in the first volume of said arc. If we don’t get a potential new crew mate in the next 10 chapters in the new arc, it has to be someone we already know. And if carrot appears at any time within those chapters it’s official, without being official yet
I want carrot because There's a few different "factions" on the crew personality wise. Those that don't care what's going on, and will just do what luffy wants. Robin, Jinbei, Zoro, Brook, Sanji. Those who would prefer to avoid danger and are generally averse to conflict. Usopp, Nami, Chopper. Those who love adventure and just want to get out there and explore. Luffy, Usopp sometimes, Franky. Carrot fills the role of a female character that actually fits into the "fun" bunch. The current female members are way too aloof. Also, there's a perfect place for her on the crew. She's even shown it when she traveled with them. Usopp is supposed to be the gunner and sniper, but he can rarely do his job because he's pulling double duty up in the crows nest as a spotter. Guess who we see jumping up to the crows nest a few times? Carrot. She can take care of that position and Usopp can finally do his job. She fits the role of a scout and spotter very well.

Carrot has been missing for four chapters the same number of chapter from zou to the beginning of wci. Carrot was kidnapped by Caribou. Caribou was originally a slave seller of rare breeds. Caribou's power allows him to contain everything and anyone inside and keep them alive.

There was foreshadowing for Carrot joining by actually having her interact with the straw hats, she’s actually helped on the ship instead of just being a passenger, and Carrot inherited Pedro’s will which includes his dream to bring about the Dawn of the World.

Part of me still prays this is true but...I can't ignore the reality. It genuinely seems like Oda abandoned that and doesn't care.
I just want a good ending for her character. Offscreening the goodbye of a character we have been weekly for over 6 years is kinda devilish

I'd be fine with Carrot returning to Zou in the epilogue to the manga to rule it, having grown and matured from the experience...But she's not ready for the responsibility being thrust upon her. Like you pointed out it would only confirm Perospero's taunting words, and since when has Oda let the villain have the last word and be proven right?
Like you say it would strip Carrot of all her agency, or her ability to actually follow Pedro's will through. Oda would be giving up on her and negating all the setup he put into Carrot's entire character. Just to write her out of the story till the very end. It would be confirmation he failed her as a character and himself as a writer.

I think based on the events in the story now that were getting 3 straw hat members all at once in chapter 1059, Carrot, Hancock and Vivi. Chapter title 10th to 12th like all the other straw hat joining chapter manga titles, then they'll do a huge celebration toast and the crew will get excited with their new members going to the next island.

You missed something critical. Wano is an entire arc about not being forced to fit roles you do not want to. And you mean to tell me it’s going to end with Carrot being pressured into doing something she doesn’t feel equipped to do by characters who are, once again, abandoning their responsibility to their country? Something we were told throughout Wano was wrong and literally caused all the problems. Heck Grandpa Kozuki abandoning Wano by hiding for 20 years was something he’s so guilty over that he’s going to remain in hiding for the rest of his life because he cannot face the people he abandoned.
Exactly, it would completely go against the entire point of Wano to have that moral lesson NOT apply to Carrot.

I did a series reread over the last few months, and one thing a lot of people don't remember that you didn't even include is that Dog and Cat stow away TWICE in the Oden flashback. First they are revealed to have stowed away when Izo is allowed on board the Moby Dick, but also when Oden joins Roger, there is a panel with Izo, Dog and Cat saying "they are staying behind because they have gotten comfortable on this ship" but then when they depart there's a "lolno Dog and Cat stowed away again" gag. They didn't need to stow away again, they were invited and chose to stay... And then stowed away anyway for the lulz.
Hopefully Carrot will soon repeat the pattern!

Fully agree, Carrot was planned to be number 10 in Oda's original plan. He changed plans to become 13 including Luffy, and I think the last 2 after Carrot will be Hancock and Vivi. But Carrot was always planned as Oda said on wanting 10 members, Carrot his last the year of the rabbit for his birthday year.

After Yamato didnt join i realized Carrot is 120% joining. If you look at the moment it directly parallels the situation we had with Vivi and Alabasta. Very good analysis. Maybe this explains why Carrot hasn't gotten a dramatic moment with Luffy, as people equate that to her not being qualified to join. If she did, she'd be far more along in her road to maturity, and Oda wants to save that for when it counts.

If you read chapter 1058, i want to know your thoughts if there's still a possibility for Carrot to join and having a bounty too. I still find it strange that during WCI only Luffy and Sanji got bounties but the rest was ignored. If a bounty for Carrot isn't shown anywhere I think there's not a chance for her to join.
If you check the comments here, my theory is Carrots reveal is being saved for 1059 and Hancock and Vivi will all join the crew with her all at once. 3 new members and their bounties revealed together after 1058 into 1059, and then after 13 straw hats and 9th to 12th chapter title. The crew will be complete in 1059 chapter. Oda's been saving this I predict, so thats why Carrot is absent here till later. Carrot is probably gonna find Luffy like the rest and Sabo and Coby are bringing Hancock and Vivi to Luffy to join his crew.

It's worth noting that when the news coo arrives with the bounty posters, Sanji jumps at Robin and sends all the wanted posters flying. This could be an excuse to not show Carrot's bounty poster yet, though in my opinion she doesn't really NEED one. Also back in post-Enies Lobby Usopp didn't technically rejoin until after those wanted posters were already shown. We have no clue what 1059 will focus on, but I think it doesn't absolutely have to be that chapter that confirms or denies Carrot joining.
Remind me, does the World Government know that Carrot has been traveling with the Straw Hats, and do they think that she has done anything to warrant a Wanted Poster?

After reading chapter 1058 which is coming out soon, I still think Carrot is joining the crew too. I think 3 straw hats will join in chapter 1059 in several weeks, Carrot, Hancock, and Vivi will all join the crew at once in 1059 in my opinion. She doesn't have to stowaway, she just needs to show up to Luffy and state her purpose to him. After the events of the reverie and Vivi missing, I think Coby and Sabo are gonna bring Vivi and Hancock to Luffy, and Carrot will also show up also to their ship. Oda once said we'll get new straw hats successively one after another, well that would a perfect way to do it in my opinion. I already put a post out on why I think Carrot, Hancock and Vivi all will join the Straw Hat crew very soon on the One Piece reddit. Check it out if you want. But yes Carrot is joining, its just getting delayed. Oda didnt do all that setup for her for nothing unlike Yamato which was a trick character distracting us from Carrot who is being setup to pretend not join like the other straw hats as Morj said, which makes Carrots chances of joining very, very high. So my bets is we will get there bounties and Carrot, Hancock and Vivi joining the crew all at once in chapter 1059. And then the entire crew will be complete. Also remember that Oda's birth year is the year of the rabbit and also Oda said he wanted 10 members always to make 11 total, he's probably changed that to 13 now but we still only got 9 members in the crew not including Luffy. So Oda's original plan for the amount of Straw Hats is not completed yet people keep forgetting, Carrot is the 10th member and was always destined to join. She's the Bolero in that original SH sketch, Bolero is a short shirt worn by women, just like Carrot is wearing as her default Zou musketeer outfit.
Yeah, it doesn't necessarily need to be a stowaway situation. I think it could play out differently from chapter 823 so it's not repeating the same exact story beats. I do think it would make a lot of sense if she clearly explained her decision to at leas Wanda and Shishilian before leaving.
I could imagine, if it is a surprise, Carrot will just call down from the crow's nest when she spots land.
Or maybe, IF Caribou is aboard the ship, it's a double stowaway reveal; beating him up reveals he absorbed Carrot who also stowed away. Don't necessarily love this one because I'd prefer if Caribou hitched a ride with Kid instead. Maybe Drake is with Law.

I changed my mind, I think Carrot will stowaway for sure now. And parallel Robin, I wrote a few last 3 Straw Hats theory posts on the One Piece reddit, Carrot, Hancock and Vivi. I wrote in one of my posts on how Wano is paralleling Alabasta and Water 7/Enies Lobby/Post Enies Lobby. Us getting 3 crew members at once in Post Enies Lobby will happen again here in 1059 along with one of them being a stowaway in Robin and Carrot from a dupe in Vivi and Yamato. As you said in the video. So yes Carrot will stowaway most likely to parallel this in 1059, and I think Sabo and Coby will bring Vivi and Hancock to Luffy to join based on recent Reverie events. Also notice Jinbei never got his toast as a crew member yet and no Straw Hat person line in the chapter titles. More Straw Hats are coming to join I predict and Oda is hiding it, cliffhanger with Sabo hint at the end. We'll get the 9th to 12th person title next chapter 1059 and get the toast for the new crewmates and their bounty posters next chapter too. Also Tsukimi Moon Viewing festival is next week in Japan, Rabbit on the Moon. Perfect timing for us to be on break this week for that release date for chapter 1059. Carrot will be in it no doubt and join then with the rest. 13 total Straw Hats.

Their bounties revealed and the Straw Hats fully celebrate all their new members, they only meant the Wano centric characters goodbyes not Carrot whos more important than them and deserves a goodbye proper send off. Carrot is joining but is being saved for later. Chapter 1059 might be named 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th like the other crewmate joining chapters. 1059 is the key chapter number to wait for.
the Straw Hats saying good bye to everyone off screen doesn't really matter if the Carrot Stowaway theory holds true.

I would like to think so but who knows. Wano is full of terrible writing decisions. It's very possible that Oda literally just decided to half ass her story in a way that doesn't make sense. Maybe he went ahead and made her the leader of the Minks despite that not ever being a part of her story. Maybe he really did decide to just randomly end her story without having her say goodbye to the strawhats. He completely skipped over Marco saying goodbye to the strawhats after all.

I'm trying to keep my expectations reasonable, but I really want Carrot to join just so Chopper finally has a little sister in the crew.
Guess I'm gonna fan the flames a little more. Chapter 1059 is set to be officially released on September 11, and the annual Moon-Viewing Festival (Tsukimi) is set to be on the 10th this year. It's too bad that the pun play with 1058 (jugoya) didn't pan out. I was surprised that Oda didn't even bring up any mention of the moon in some way, but it makes sense if he's planning to bring Carrot on the crew (while they celebrate Jinbe's joining lol) in time for said festival. Oda is really keen on keeping to the schedule when it comes to holidays. I can even guess that Carrot's birthday may be set on that day in a later SBS, or at least some variation of the 15th night of the 9th lunar month, so 9/15 could work too.
Besides, it would be the ultimate bait-n-switch troll play from him to lead so many to think that Yamato would join, only to reveal the place was meant for Carrot to jump in instead. Imagine that he was so excited to surprise everyone with Carrot that he even cut short the ending to Wano just to make it for this holiday deadline, haha!

With every strawhat that joined in their respective arcs, they always been named dropped, silhouette, and/or physically appears in the first volume of said arc.
If we don’t get a potential new crew mate in the next 10 chapters in the new arc, it has to be someone we already know. And if carrot appears at any time within those chapters it’s official, without being official yet

I want carrot because There's a few different "factions" on the crew personality wise. Those that don't care what's going on, and will just do what luffy wants. Robin, Jinbei, Zoro, Brook, Sanji.
Those who would prefer to avoid danger and are generally averse to conflict. Usopp, Nami, Chopper.
Those who love adventure and just want to get out there and explore. Luffy, Usopp sometimes, Franky.
Carrot fills the role of a female character that actually fits into the "fun" bunch. The current female members are way too aloof.
Also, there's a perfect place for her on the crew. She's even shown it when she traveled with them. Usopp is supposed to be the gunner and sniper, but he can rarely do his job because he's pulling double duty up in the crows nest as a spotter. Guess who we see jumping up to the crows nest a few times? Carrot. She can take care of that position and Usopp can finally do his job. She fits the role of a scout and spotter very well.
