If I remember correctly, Blackbeard's bounty starting with 3.996 can also be read as "san kokoro", which translates into "three spirits" or "three souls". /edit: or "three hearts", I get it. My point is that Blackbeard's bounty relates to his ability to wield multiple devil fruit on the grounds that his body houses multiple souls, hearts, spirits or whatever you wan to call them. And the reason the body can do this is a thing specific to Blackbeard rather than tthe result of any devil fruit and this is also the reason why he never managed to sleep. I dont know why he can do this or who the third soul is but I like the idea that one of the souls in Blackbeard's body is Rocks D. Xebec.

It convinced me in a lot of ways more than any other Blackbeard's origin theories. 3-skulls in his jolly roger da da da he had 3 different bodies of because of the teeth hence he might have 3-devil fruits, it never made sense at least to me. I have some info that might be useful. When BB joined WB's crew, the buildings in the background closely resemble the buildings in Sorbet. Meaning it's possible Bonney may have set out on her adventures from the very same dock BB set out on his. BB being at Sorbet kind of implies he could have been one of the people saved at God Valley by Kuma. Perhaps he and his family were sent there as game for the celestials... I think you're on to something with the Davy Jones connection, but it may just be that BB is the reincarnation of Davy Jones while his lineage represents something else entirely. Let me explain. Imu thought Lili was an ally. And I cant see Lili and Joyboy being natural enemies, so what if Lili was deceived by Imu? What if Joyboy was the general of the 20 kingdoms, tasked with defeating the Ancient Kingdom? Sounds impossible? Joyboy was on their side afterall. Their ideology was bad for the WG, so it must be good. That's sound reasoning, but it makes the assumption that the ancient kingdom always had the same ideology. What if the "Era of Slaves" wasn't the beginning of slavery but rather the first era that humans were enslaved? Perhaps before that time Humans enslaved the other races and didn't see it as slavery because those races were created. Designer races. Lunarians, Giants, fishmen, minks. All created by humans as slave races. Then two figures appeared. Nika, and Davy Jones. Davy Jones was a fishman, and was originally a pirate, but became leader of the rebellion thanks to all the wealth he acquired. Nika, a Giant, also fought back with his Giant brethren. They defeated the kingdom of Augur, driving their forces back to the center of the planet from wince humans originated. Then Nika sealed off the safe entrances with the Red Line. This left the remaining humans on the surface cut off from their technological empire. Nika promised these humans that he would "deliver" them from war and slavery, offering a guarantee that they wouldn't be oppresed. Davy Jones did not like this. So he lied to the other races, telling them that Nika and the Giants had betrayed them and sided with the Humans. The other races attacked the Giants who were protecting the remaining human cities, and defeated them. Nika died in the conflict and the Giants were driven back to Elbaf where they wait for Nika till this day. The humans were then enslaved, beginning the era of slavery. Human kingdoms were allowed to exist and even be part of the Ancient Kingdom, but were required to pay a heavy tax. This is what depleted Wano's gold reserves, and what lead to the enslavement of the Tontatas. King Bekori is the tell. He looks just like the "devils" mentioned during the era of slavery. But King Bekori was encentivized to do evil by the ones collecting taxes. The Lunarians ruled over everyone from Marie Jois, where they collected the gold from across the world. The Fishmen took up residence at fishman island as a kind of toll booth to collect gold and slaves from those that tried to pass under the red line. Eventually the fires of rebellion lit once again, and this time it was the Humans and Buccaneers who fought against the Lunarians, Fishmen, and Minks. The Giants, however never became aware of the Buccaneer Joyboy, due to their isolation. Tragically missing the second coming of Nika. Imu led the 20 kings, while Joyboy was the commanding general of the army. What is Blackbeard? He's a citizen of the kingdom of Augur at the center of the planet. It has a sun suspended in the middle offering 24/7 daylight. It is similar to the concept of a dyson sphere. Every once and a while a someone from Augur will fall into the hole that leads to Enies Lobby and will miraculously survive. Enies Lobby exists to detain them when they do. Their deeper understanding of history is incredibly dangerous to the WG and so they are disposed of as quickly as possible. BB and his family came from Augur in this way and were detained and sent to God Valley to be disposed of. Kuma saved them, sending them to Sorbet. Before BBs parents passed away leaving him an orphan, they told him about Rocks and about his lineage. You see the humans from Augur are the original 3 eyed tribe. A tribe which was nearly erased during the era of slaves due to their appearance being that of an Augur native. We have never seen the forehead of any original BB crew member. They all cover their foreheads. I believe those original members were 3 eye tribe members who BB met, and then told about their lineage. Telling them that they are the rightful owners of the world. The gold which the Lunarians hoarded was sent to a remote island before their defeat. Jaya. There the denizens used the gold to coat their structures with, making it harder to steal.

Thus the name of the inner earth kingdom. It's spelling in Japanese is simply "agar". There is a legend from bhuddist lore that the west came to obsess over. A place called "Agarti". In the west It's called "Agartha". Or importantly, "Plutusia", a name that sounds very similar to Lulusia, which is the place where a second hole to Augur was created. Agartha is an inner earth, identical to what I described. A dyson sphere-esqu inner earth with a floating sun in the middle. I theorize that this place is the One Piece, the All Blue, and the Endless Vearth simultaneously. The fishmen discrimination is another point I forgot to cover. It is said to start only 200 years ago, when the robot attacked Marie Jois. I believe these are related. Fishmen were given amnesty by the 20 kingdoms after the ancient war, under the condition that they continue their slave trade under the WG. But this time, they would be enslaving Lunarians, and the Buccaneers who helped Joyboy. They enslaved the Buccaneers for 600 years until something happened which led the Fishmen to free the Buccaneers against the will of the WG. The Buccaneers immediately tracked down the ancient robot, constructed by the ancient kingdom to aid Joyboy in their defense. They played for it the drums of liberation, it then sprang to life and attacked Marie Jois. This event led to the extermination of the Buccaneers, and the beginning of fishman discrimination for their crime of releasing the Buccaneers. It's likely that the Minks did not take part in the ancient war, remaining somewhat neutral, as they don't seem to be openly oppresed like the other races. They likely felt that the Ancient Kingdom's slavery was indefensible, but weren't willing to pick a side for fear of winding up on the losing side.
I personally believe Blackbeard has no soul. Instead, being an empty vessel. Which fits your hypothesis that he's the Locker. If he takes on the souls of those he kills it could explain his dramatic shifts in personality over the series. Maybe when he was at the mercy of Whitebeard it was Thatch pleading for mercy on not Blackbeard himself.

This continues to be my favorite One Piece theory channel. Besides the unique insights and well-thought out theories, I greatly enjoy the presentation, which is calm, analytical and friendly. It just feels really welcoming, y'know? As for Blackbeard, it's commonly hypothesized that the source of his perplexingly plural persona and freakish fruit capacity is a mythical zoan Devil fruit. I've seen him theorized to have the fruit of a Cerberus, a devil or even a kraken. But one (in my opinion) obvious variant of this theory that I haven't seen anyone mention is that of a human-human fruit model: Troll, or some variation of Jotun. I think the case for him having a mythical human fruit is appealing because we've already seen with Luffy how it can go under the radar, with no visible powers except for an abnormal body. Blackeard has been set up as a foil for Luffy, equal but opposite since the moment he appeared in the manga. Troll is one term used for Jotnar, giants in norse mythology, among others, which are described very varyingly, sometimes they seem indistinguishable from the gods, other times as monstrous, sometimes with many heads. The Jolly Rogers in One Piece tend to, if not always, represent the captain, and Teach's flag has three skulls. (I looked up the meanings of the Dharmachakra to see if the bones on the flag could represent the eight spokes on the wheel, but was unable to find anything connecting to Blackbeard apart from a general connotation to fate.) When I think of a person with three heads, I think of a Troll. Blackbeard even resembles more "modern" depictions of scandinavian trolls, namely a big, hairy person with an aesthetically unsatisfactory face-physiognomy and a big nose. You could also argue that the home of the Jotuns, Utgard, being a somewhat inhospitable wasteland is consistent with the implications of Blackbeard coming from a cold country. This hypothesis doesn't explain his sleeplessness however, unless it is just his personalities taking shifts staying awake.
Stussy stole cloning technique from MADs, this is how she created Weevil (35 years old), who in fact is Whitebeard's clone. That cloning technology is what created Blackbeard (38 years old, 2 years after Xebecs defeat) a clone of Xebec with lunarian and buccaneer blood. The clones dont look alike because it was the first and originaltechnology. And Stussy just replicated the process poorly explaining Weevils intelligence. The blood types don't mix, giving Blackbeard 3 personalities. Have been theorizing that Blackbeard is carrying multiple wills, giving him the 3 personalities instead.

I've always found that first scene between Luffy and Blackbeard odd. They're so similar and yet opposite. I still have no idea to this day what Oda was trying to hint at with that scene. I just have to wonder, is it possible they're two sides of the same person? Different groups would see the same person in different lights. Could the Nika and Darkness Fruits actually be "inspired" by the same person? One group seeing that person as a hero, and the other seeing that same person as a villain? Or maybe inspired at different points of the same person's life? A hero when he's younger, but turning into a tyrant as he gets older? I do wonder if Blackbeard's Darkness Fruit could be connected to the "Gorosei Psychic Network", that we've seen in the newest chapters? Both of their powers seem tied to darkness in one way or another, after all. Maybe the reason he always seems one step ahead of everyone is because he has intel that no one else would have. What if his Devil Fruit literally allows him to listen into the conversations of the most powerful people of the world? It could be the reason why Blackbeard wanted that specific Fruit so badly. It would also explain why he seems to have different personalities, he's still adjusting to joining this hivemind, due to his Fruit. He doesn't usually act like he has multiple personalities, but different people keep sensing different personalities coming from him. Maybe they're just sensing the other Gorosei on the same "psychic network". Which would mean, Blackbeard would know that Imu wants Vivi. And I do wonder if Blackbeard's backstory will somehow involve a "Sleeping Sickness" of some kind. Oda has been writing more illnesses into One Piece, lately. Ancient Diseases even seem to be a bit of a background plot point, thanks to Saturn's experiments. Maybe as a child, he either had to keep himself awake to stay alive because of the disease attacking his village. Or the One Piece version of the disease is basically a "Awakening SIckness" where you can't go to sleep. As for Blackbeard's lineage, I think it's possible that Blackbeard is basically...everything. He might be a mix of EVERY race in the One Piece World. Fish Men, Giants, Buccaneers, Lunarians, etc. He might be the "perfect mutt" as it were, with the best attributes of all those races, completely by accident. I mean, what do you get if you mix all the colors together? Black! Both the absence and combination of all other colors and light. He's a part of every family in the world. And every one of them abandoned him. Those rings on his fingers represent each one of his past family members. Each from a different race. All coming together in him. This may also explain Oda's "prototype" name for him, "Everything D Teach". I do like your "Davy Jones Locker Human" idea, though. And the ties to Ketu are interesting. But, is it possible we've been misunderstanding why Blackbeard can have multiple Devil Fruits this whole time? What if we're thinking about this from the wrong angle? What if it's not so much that Blackbeard's body can handle having multiple souls inside his body? What if instead he has some way to "erase" or "expel" those spirits from the Devil Fruits? What if he's basically "brainwashing" these Fruits so he just gets the power without the spirits inhabiting his body? Literally destroying the "dreams" of these Fruits just so he can get their power? The problem is, if that was the case, I don't see why he couldn't have way more than just 2 or 3. If he actually could do that, he could just have ALL the Fruits. Although, this theory makes me wonder. Are there actually two "Wills of D" this entire time? The Will of Davy Jones and the Will of the Dawn? Two D's, combined, do make a whole circle, in a round about way.
If your theory of Blackbeard taking souls is correct… then that means instead of eating both devil fruits, he took Thatch and whitebeard’s soul… It will fit everything perfectly as real life BB original name was Edward Thatch.. which later changed to Edward Teach… and we have 3 characters of that name.. So the story symbolises real BB life as he symbolically killed Thatch name and took teach… plus real BB was killed the way WB was… So now he is all 3 in 1 giving him 3 souls as older theories that he is 3 in 1 person

I believe BB has davy jones locker, in fact I believe BB IS the locker. Unlike the normal devil fruit user he can use more than one because of the locker. It is the perfect weapon against the D fruits that require cooperations and teamwork whereas the locker wants to grab everything for itself.
Crazy theory the 5 elders and imu are highly advanced pacifista from 900 years ago obtained/gained control of and ultimately left behind by Nefertari lily and the old 20 kings to keep "peace" in the world of one piece. They never age and the last time they had to recharge using the mother flame was 200 years ago when the robot on egg head also received power and attacked the red line.

One piece was never about Good vs Evil . It is a conflict between different Ideologies. Anything vs Everything vs Nothing. Luffy wants to do ANYTHING in the world. IMU wants Everything in the world. Wouldn't that make a lot more sense? 夜愛 (Yo Na), wherein 夜 (Yo) is written as in Night and 愛 (Na) written as in Love/attracted/attached to 黎(Rei) as in Black/Dark/many Possibly even Rei as in 令 rule/order/command Something along the lines of Lover of the many dark nights, or Commander of the Night would be a lot more obvious than the whole weird ghost thing. It could also be read as 詠凪の黎 詠凪 (Yo Na) wherein 詠 (Yo) is written as in Singing a poem 凪 (Na) as in Calm at Sea and 黎 as in Black/Dark/many. That would evoke images of a a calm, dark sea - a sea where there is no Singing (Binks Sake). A sea of Darkness. I'm not japanese and do not speak japanese. It's just what I found when looking at the kana and seeing if there's a fitting Kanji.
I can't help but think: Nika, being the Sun God, and Blackbeard holds that Dark Dark fruit, well, Black Holes usually swallow Light (Sun in this case). Also, I'm thinking that, Nika/Luffy will be swallowed up by BlackBeard's power and "disappear" for a time. It's similar to how the goddess, Amaterasu hid inside a cave and "emerged" afterwards.

Nice theory. But doesn't Hordy Jones takes inspiration from Davy Jones more than Blackbeard? It's not my disagreeing with you. But my instincts are telling me that you're overthinking this. Oda takes inspiration from real life pirates with his characters and only twists them slightly so there not a rip off. Like Doflamingo being inspired by the novel character 'Don Quixote'. For example, the real life Blackbeard or Edward Teach was said to of possibly been a amateur or of noble birth before he became a pirate. This is just what I've heard. But this is just one man's opinion. So I think that Blackbeard is the "Ghost (as you say)" of a legendary/great pirate of the past. Like Rocks D. Xebec off the top of my head.
Hey Dawn & Dusk, can you clarify something for us? In the Chapter 1103 -- Page 08, Saturn says that Ginny was the eight spouse of a celestial dragon in some translations it includes "a fellow", meaning that the Gorousei is not the Father. In another translation, he said "eight spouse of the sacred land". Could Saturn be bonney's biological dad? The narrative would be so more intensive if that's the case.
The idea of Blackbeard being related to Davy Jones is an interesting thought. I don't think I can offer anything as thought provoking. But I will put a lot of my thoughts out there. I apologize in advance because I rambled a lot. Almost lilke I'M an anime villain. There are things that have to be considered when discussing BB. All these pieces MUST fit together somehow. What are these pieces? The knowledge BB has of devil fruits (to have found the darkness one), relation to Xebec/archaeology, his strange body and lastly his relation to the moon. So what is my speculation? First lets cover the picture of kid BB and why I think it can be used. We have gotten other kid pics of characters and they didn't show us anything. This is actually incorrect. Lets cover the Brooke one since its actually kinda obvious when you remember how Brooke was introduced. We see kid brooke is dirty and scrungy looking. When we meet Brooke he has the air of decorum with his speech but its a big joke he can be just as vulgar and without manners as Luffy is. And we ALL know how Luffy grew up. These similar upbringing is why the two get along in that sense. Then we have kid Kizaru. And this has come to fruition in the most recent Egghead arc. Not even in the sense of Kizaru being super smart or anything but explains his friendship with Vegapunk. We see how happy Kizaru is to learn and thus why he'd consider VP so important to him. Clearly BB is crying and looking angry but more important is we have the moon in the background. At first I thought it was just meant to be BB being the moon to Luffy's sun but the thing is the moon isn't full in the picture. We know the fullness of the moon and the whole white hair thing is a prevalent theme in the story with the energy steroids and Minks. There is this theory that the minks are essentially calling upon the power of their ancestors. We even have Kuro way back in the East Blue seemingly having a connection the moon. Now I could be wrong as I haven't went back to confirm in the manga but in the anime when BB kills Thatch its all cloudy. Basically I am proposing that BB ISN'T carrying on someone's will nor passing his will onto others. Every Will of D member has done one of those things. This is why the moon is only a half moon. Before I proceed I am going to propose what I consider highly unlikely but this thought crossed my mind. Could BB be part Lunarian? There a few things that fit into place if this is the case with the info we know. I think its possible that if any race would know about devil fruits it'd stand to reason to be the former gods right? I mean the current ones do so why not the ones before them? BB joined WB's crew to get the darkness fruit meaning he had his plan before he joined WB and no I don't think kid BB had some grand scheme back then. Merely he wanted to get the fruit to take the world. Teach being half lunarian would also explain a few things. First how he was seemingly able to handle Ace's fire as well as he had. It would explain his unique body. As far as we know King is the ONLY Lunarian so I think that would qualify. It also would add another layer to when Teach was introduced. He was introduced in Jaya where he'd go on to say the sky island DID exist. This would also explain why BB is so weird as a member of the D clan. The only other D member of a different race than human was giants and that was Saul. Why would Oda include Saul? If we saw more giants have the D that would explain it more but we don't. It is JUST Saul's family that we know. But unlike Saul who comes from a society that worships the sun god BB IS a god. BB is both "a god" and an enemy of the gods. This is why BB is a D but doesn't smile. And why ultimately BB is his own worst enemy. We need to know WHY BB would care about ancient history. And I think if he was part lunarian that would explain it. He could have wanted to learn all about the Lunarians. I mean we know Whitebeard and Big Mom heard of them so it is not impossible to gather that knowledge. The real question is how did he learn about Xebec? I have a thought. In a recent video Dak's Sake brought forth an idea for Shiki to end up playing a major role in the story. I don't really see Shiki being relevant in that way. But I CAN see Shiki being used to explain who Xebec was. This would explain where BB got the knowledge of Xebec since Shiki was on his crew. Here is a simple question. Why have the old hag from Wano change into a younger version of Shiki? I believe it is because THAT Shiki will be the same one who will give BB that knowledge. Why would Shiki give BB this knowledge? I d.on't really know. Mybest guess is some kind of scheme. But in truth I think the actual answer is kinda obvious. Consider when the God Valley incident happened. BB was like 2 when it happened. I am suggesting that Shiki was a bit more fresh from that event than Kaido and BM were so perhaps he just vented about Xebec or something. With Kuma's backstory we know people of different races can have kids together yet the kid will take on the traits of one of the parents. This would be why BB doesn't really resemble the Lunarians. There is also something worth noting about BB. He has the darkness fruit which is the only other fruit in One Piece that can related to the theme of Space that isn't Luffy's own. is that a bit of a stretch? I don't think so. Thanks to Egghead we know Kizaru's kid picture was relevant. It wasn't super direct but his love of studying as a kid ended up being important as him building a friendship with the world's most brilliant scientist. I am trying to interpret BB's picture in a similar way. Do I think what i proposed is likely correct? Not even a little. But all these thoughts just came to me and I just had to blurt them out. Edit: I totally forgot to cover this. First here is a thought. I think as a community we keep trying to justify BB not sleeping but what if it is just a simple answer? Maybe that has NOTHING to do with his unique body. I mean we have to consider this is the same story that has characters be starving for an extended period of time and then just eat a buffet and are all okay. Not to mention the whole drinking milk thing. I think the actual reason BB could never sleep is NOT because of any biological reason but because he was always concerned with his own survival. Why a snow island? Well because the weather can be so extremely harsh it could lead to death. In a sense BB's goal to take the world might just be similar to Kuro's own motivation. To be able to live with peace of mind.
I'm shocked no one has mentioned that Vanderdeken may of originally been from the holyland & that the bloodline might be a Celestial Dragon bloodline & the original Vanderdeken may of been cursed by Imu. I honestly think that its heavily hinted that Imu or Joyboy is the one that cursed the Vanderdeken bloodline.

I'm from Germany so i hope you will understand me😅 In Manga Chapter 1055 on Site 9 (in our mangas) there is an picture who is interesting for the "water flute the world"-theory. The old king is going upstairs with Nico and Law to the old Wano City. And then he explained the walls building around Wano in the past. There are three pictures. So if you look to the waterlevel outside Wano, it will rise over the years. And this must happend bevor the lost century. And its not cause of the rain or something else. So in the past, Wano knows about the rising waterlevel. And expected it will go higher an higher over the centuries. SO i think its a proof, that the weapons who rise the level exists in the past and would used by the enemie. And i think its also a proof, that the weapon was used similar times bevor Wano closed the borders and finished building the wall. :)

You mentioned that blackbeard has several souls, and I think that in the last photo his real personality was crying because it was weaker than the other souls in his body, and that real personality can wake up only at the nighttime. His real personality which is able to wake up only at nights (darkness) might be crying because the whitebeard pirates (white whale ship) accepted him in their crew (swallowed) and because all the crew members knew about the uniqueness of Blackbeard they always were suspicious and always looked at him (drilled with their eyes, just like eyes in the form of moon), especially at night time when the real personality awakens and gets "hated" bc of the another soul which acts at daytime. The real personality might be weaker than the soul in his body (rocks) and it can't get out at his own will. I'm really surprised that you know about Rahu and Ketu since not many people know about jyotish however I think rather than Ketu, Blackbeard would be better represented by Rahu. Only because Rahu represents worldly desire and if I remember correctly ketu is believed to be responsible for the lunar eclipse while Rahu is known for his attempts at eating both the sun and the moon which is known as Rahu's revenge for being cut in two by Vishnu but it really could be either so its cool to here it mentioned. Before it was revealed that Kuma's is a Buccaneer,i always speculated that Blackbeard might also be one,he is the only one with the same proportions and size. I always thought Kuma was like that because he was experimented on but why BB has the same body as him but was never experimented on so how could he achieve such a "strange body" as Marco says. I believe he's a Buccaneer or he's a mix between 2 races.
I believe that Luffy will either be saved by the robot, or that the robot will save everyone else in the last moment. There is a good chance Luffy will be taken by the gorosei. If I remember correctly, Blackbeard's bounty starting with 3.996 can also be read as "san kokoro", which translates into "three spirits" or "three souls".

My point is that Blackbeard's bounty relates to his ability to wield multiple devil fruit on the grounds that his body houses multiple souls, hearts, spirits or whatever you wan to call them.
And the reason the body can do this is a thing specific to Blackbeard rather than tthe result of any devil fruit and this is also the reason why he never managed to sleep.
I dont know why he can do this or who the third soul is but I like the idea that one of the souls in Blackbeard's body is Rocks D. Xebec.

I have some info that might be useful. When BB joined WB's crew, the buildings in the background closely resemble the buildings in Sorbet. Meaning it's possible Bonney may have set out on her adventures from the very same dock BB set out on his. BB being at Sorbet kind of implies he could have been one of the people saved at God Valley by Kuma. Perhaps he and his family were sent there as game for the celestials...
I think you're on to something with the Davy Jones connection, but it may just be that BB is the reincarnation of Davy Jones while his lineage represents something else entirely. Let me explain.
Imu thought Lili was an ally. And I cant see Lili and Joyboy being natural enemies, so what if Lili was deceived by Imu? What if Joyboy was the general of the 20 kingdoms, tasked with defeating the Ancient Kingdom? Sounds impossible? Joyboy was on their side afterall. Their ideology was bad for the WG, so it must be good. That's sound reasoning, but it makes the assumption that the ancient kingdom always had the same ideology.
What if the "Era of Slaves" wasn't the beginning of slavery but rather the first era that humans were enslaved? Perhaps before that time Humans enslaved the other races and didn't see it as slavery because those races were created. Designer races. Lunarians, Giants, fishmen, minks. All created by humans as slave races. Then two figures appeared. Nika, and Davy Jones. Davy Jones was a fishman, and was originally a pirate, but became leader of the rebellion thanks to all the wealth he acquired. Nika, a Giant, also fought back with his Giant brethren. They defeated the kingdom of Augur, driving their forces back to the center of the planet from wince humans originated. Then Nika sealed off the safe entrances with the Red Line. This left the remaining humans on the surface cut off from their technological empire. Nika promised these humans that he would "deliver" them from war and slavery, offering a guarantee that they wouldn't be oppresed. Davy Jones did not like this. So he lied to the other races, telling them that Nika and the Giants had betrayed them and sided with the Humans. The other races attacked the Giants who were protecting the remaining human cities, and defeated them. Nika died in the conflict and the Giants were driven back to Elbaf where they wait for Nika till this day. The humans were then enslaved, beginning the era of slavery. Human kingdoms were allowed to exist and even be part of the Ancient Kingdom, but were required to pay a heavy tax. This is what depleted Wano's gold reserves, and what lead to the enslavement of the Tontatas.
King Bekori is the tell. He looks just like the "devils" mentioned during the era of slavery. But King Bekori was encentivized to do evil by the ones collecting taxes.
The Lunarians ruled over everyone from Marie Jois, where they collected the gold from across the world. The Fishmen took up residence at fishman island as a kind of toll booth to collect gold and slaves from those that tried to pass under the red line.
Eventually the fires of rebellion lit once again, and this time it was the Humans and Buccaneers who fought against the Lunarians, Fishmen, and Minks. The Giants, however never became aware of the Buccaneer Joyboy, due to their isolation. Tragically missing the second coming of Nika.
Imu led the 20 kings, while Joyboy was the commanding general of the army. Joyboy did exactly what Nika did, spreading the message of deliverance, that was passed down through his giant lineage, as he defeated the Ancient Kingdom. The Ancient Kingdom was left a promise that Joyboy would "deliver" them from slavery and war. Thus the D clan. Imu lied to the other kings, telling them Joyboy had sided with the Ancient Kingdom. Unfortunatley, Joyboy had siezed the ancient weapons when he defeated the Ancient Kingdom, so when he defended it's capital, Uranus was sent to destroy it. Joyboy managed to block the hit and burn out Uranus' power core, but he succumbed to his injuries afterwards. He used a balloon style attack, leading to enies lobby's strange shape.
What is Blackbeard? He's a citizen of the kingdom of Augur at the center of the planet. It has a sun suspended in the middle offering 24/7 daylight. It is similar to the concept of a dyson sphere. Every once and a while a someone from Augur will fall into the hole that leads to Enies Lobby and will miraculously survive. Enies Lobby exists to detain them when they do. Their deeper understanding of history is incredibly dangerous to the WG and so they are disposed of as quickly as possible.
BB and his family came from Augur in this way and were detained and sent to God Valley to be disposed of. Kuma saved them, sending them to Sorbet. Before BBs parents passed away leaving him an orphan, they told him about Rocks and about his lineage. You see the humans from Augur are the original 3 eyed tribe. A tribe which was nearly erased during the era of slaves due to their appearance being that of an Augur native.
We have never seen the forehead of any original BB crew member. They all cover their foreheads. I believe those original members were 3 eye tribe members who BB met, and then told about their lineage. Telling them that they are the rightful owners of the world.
The gold which the Lunarians hoarded was sent to a remote island before their defeat. Jaya. There the denizens used the gold to coat their structures with, making it harder to steal.

@@petermolina1317 Thank you for reading all that. It was longer than I expected, and I still left out some key info. Van Augur is a Dutch naming scheme meaning "From Augur". Thus the name of the inner earth kingdom. It's spelling in Japanese is simply "agar". There is a legend from bhuddist lore that the west came to obsess over. A place called "Agarti". In the west It's called "Agartha". Or importantly, "Plutusia", a name that sounds very similar to Lulusia, which is the place where a second hole to Augur was created. Agartha is an inner earth, identical to what I described. A dyson sphere-esqu inner earth with a floating sun in the middle. I theorize that this place is the One Piece, the All Blue, and the Endless Vearth simultaneously.
The fishmen discrimination is another point I forgot to cover. It is said to start only 200 years ago, when the robot attacked Marie Jois. I believe these are related. Fishmen were given amnesty by the 20 kingdoms after the ancient war, under the condition that they continue their slave trade under the WG. But this time, they would be enslaving Lunarians, and the Buccaneers who helped Joyboy. They enslaved the Buccaneers for 600 years until something happened which led the Fishmen to free the Buccaneers against the will of the WG. The Buccaneers immediately tracked down the ancient robot, constructed by the ancient kingdom to aid Joyboy in their defense. They played for it the drums of liberation, it then sprang to life and attacked Marie Jois. This event led to the extermination of the Buccaneers, and the beginning of fishman discrimination for their crime of releasing the Buccaneers.
It's likely that the Minks did not take part in the ancient war, remaining somewhat neutral, as they don't seem to be openly oppresed like the other races. They likely felt that the Ancient Kingdom's slavery was indefensible, but weren't willing to pick a side for fear of winding up on the losing side.
I personally believe Blackbeard has no soul. Instead, being an empty vessel. Which fits your hypothesis that he's the Locker.
If he takes on the souls of those he kills it could explain his dramatic shifts in personality over the series.
Maybe when he was at the mercy of Whitebeard it was Thatch pleading for mercy on not Blackbeard himself.

Not gonna lie, the Xenogears music is so peak and appropriate for this type of content, I legitimately get excited every time I hear “He Who Bears Fangs at God” once these theories start! This continues to be my favorite One Piece theory channel. Besides the unique insights and well-thought out theories, I greatly enjoy the presentation, which is calm, analytical and friendly. It just feels really welcoming, y'know?
As for Blackbeard, it's commonly hypothesized that the source of his perplexingly plural persona and freakish fruit capacity is a mythical zoan Devil fruit. I've seen him theorized to have the fruit of a Cerberus, a devil or even a kraken. But one (in my opinion) obvious variant of this theory that I haven't seen anyone mention is that of a human-human fruit model: Troll, or some variation of Jotun. I think the case for him having a mythical human fruit is appealing because we've already seen with Luffy how it can go under the radar, with no visible powers except for an abnormal body. Blackeard has been set up as a foil for Luffy, equal but opposite since the moment he appeared in the manga.
Troll is one term used for Jotnar, giants in norse mythology, among others, which are described very varyingly, sometimes they seem indistinguishable from the gods, other times as monstrous, sometimes with many heads. The Jolly Rogers in One Piece tend to, if not always, represent the captain, and Teach's flag has three skulls. (I looked up the meanings of the Dharmachakra to see if the bones on the flag could represent the eight spokes on the wheel, but was unable to find anything connecting to Blackbeard apart from a general connotation to fate.)
When I think of a person with three heads, I think of a Troll. Blackbeard even resembles more "modern" depictions of scandinavian trolls, namely a big, hairy person with an aesthetically unsatisfactory face-physiognomy and a big nose.
You could also argue that the home of the Jotuns, Utgard, being a somewhat inhospitable wasteland is consistent with the implications of Blackbeard coming from a cold country. This hypothesis doesn't explain his sleeplessness however, unless it is just his personalities taking shifts staying awake.

Stussy stole cloning technique from MADs, this is how she created Weevil (35 years old), who in fact is Whitebeard's clone.
That cloning technology is what created Blackbeard (38 years old, 2 years after Xebecs defeat) a clone of Xebec with lunarian and buccaneer blood. The clones dont look alike because it was the first and originaltechnology. And Stussy just replicated the process poorly explaining Weevils intelligence. The blood types don't mix, giving Blackbeard 3 personalities.

I've always found that first scene between Luffy and Blackbeard odd. They're so similar and yet opposite. I still have no idea to this day what Oda was trying to hint at with that scene. Could the Nika and Darkness Fruits actually be "inspired" by the same person? One group seeing that person as a hero, and the other seeing that same person as a villain? Or maybe inspired at different points of the same person's life? A hero when he's younger, but turning into a tyrant as he gets older?
I do wonder if Blackbeard's Darkness Fruit could be connected to the "Gorosei Psychic Network", that we've seen in the newest chapters? Both of their powers seem tied to darkness in one way or another, after all. Maybe the reason he always seems one step ahead of everyone is because he has intel that no one else would have. What if his Devil Fruit literally allows him to listen into the conversations of the most powerful people of the world? It could be the reason why Blackbeard wanted that specific Fruit so badly. It would also explain why he seems to have different personalities, he's still adjusting to joining this hivemind, due to his Fruit. He doesn't usually act like he has multiple personalities, but different people keep sensing different personalities coming from him. Maybe they're just sensing the other Gorosei on the same "psychic network". Which would mean, Blackbeard would know that Imu wants Vivi.
And I do wonder if Blackbeard's backstory will somehow involve a "Sleeping Sickness" of some kind. Oda has been writing more illnesses into One Piece, lately. Ancient Diseases even seem to be a bit of a background plot point, thanks to Saturn's experiments. Maybe as a child, he either had to keep himself awake to stay alive because of the disease attacking his village. Or the One Piece version of the disease is basically a "Awakening SIckness" where you can't go to sleep.
As for Blackbeard's lineage, I think it's possible that Blackbeard is basically...everything. He might be a mix of EVERY race in the One Piece World. Fish Men, Giants, Buccaneers, Lunarians, etc. He might be the "perfect mutt" as it were, with the best attributes of all those races, completely by accident. I mean, what do you get if you mix all the colors together? Black! Both the absence and combination of all other colors and light. He's a part of every family in the world. And every one of them abandoned him. Those rings on his fingers represent each one of his past family members. Each from a different race. All coming together in him. This may also explain Oda's "prototype" name for him, "Everything D Teach". I do like your "Davy Jones Locker Human" idea, though. And the ties to Ketu are interesting.
But, is it possible we've been misunderstanding why Blackbeard can have multiple Devil Fruits this whole time? What if we're thinking about this from the wrong angle? What if it's not so much that Blackbeard's body can handle having multiple souls inside his body? What if instead he has some way to "erase" or "expel" those spirits from the Devil Fruits? What if he's basically "brainwashing" these Fruits so he just gets the power without the spirits inhabiting his body? Literally destroying the "dreams" of these Fruits just so he can get their power? The problem is, if that was the case, I don't see why he couldn't have way more than just 2 or 3. If he actually could do that, he could just have ALL the Fruits.
Although, this theory makes me wonder. Are there actually two "Wills of D" this entire time? The Will of Davy Jones and the Will of the Dawn? Two D's, combined, do make a whole circle, in a round about way.

I believe BB has davy jones locker, in fact I believe BB IS the locker. Unlike the normal devil fruit user he can use more than one because of the locker. It is the perfect weapon against the D fruits that require cooperations and teamwork whereas the locker wants to grab everything for itself.

Oda takes inspiration from real life pirates with his characters and only twists them slightly so there not a rip off. Like Doflamingo being inspired by the novel character 'Don Quixote'. For example, the real life Blackbeard or Edward Teach was said to of possibly been a amateur or of noble birth before he became a pirate. This is just what I've heard. But this is just one man's opinion. So I think that Blackbeard is the "Ghost (as you say)" of a legendary/great pirate of the past. Like Rocks D. Xebec off the top of my head.

Hey Dawn & Dusk, can you clarify something for us? In the Chapter 1103 -- Page 08, Saturn says that Ginny was the eight spouse of a celestial dragon in some translations it includes "a fellow", meaning that the Gorousei is not the Father. In another translation, he said "eight spouse of the sacred land". Could Saturn be bonney's biological dad? The narrative would be so more intensive if that's the case.
The idea of Blackbeard being related to Davy Jones is an interesting thought. I don't think I can offer anything as thought provoking. But I will put a lot of my thoughts out there. I apologize in advance because I rambled a lot. Almost lilke I'M an anime villain.
There are things that have to be considered when discussing BB. All these pieces MUST fit together somehow. What are these pieces? The knowledge BB has of devil fruits (to have found the darkness one), relation to Xebec/archaeology, his strange body and lastly his relation to the moon. So what is my speculation?
First lets cover the picture of kid BB and why I think it can be used. We have gotten other kid pics of characters and they didn't show us anything. This is actually incorrect. Lets cover the Brooke one since its actually kinda obvious when you remember how Brooke was introduced. We see kid brooke is dirty and scrungy looking. When we meet Brooke he has the air of decorum with his speech but its a big joke he can be just as vulgar and without manners as Luffy is. And we ALL know how Luffy grew up. These similar upbringing is why the two get along in that sense. Then we have kid Kizaru. And this has come to fruition in the most recent Egghead arc. Not even in the sense of Kizaru being super smart or anything but explains his friendship with Vegapunk. We see how happy Kizaru is to learn and thus why he'd consider VP so important to him.
Clearly BB is crying and looking angry but more important is we have the moon in the background. At first I thought it was just meant to be BB being the moon to Luffy's sun but the thing is the moon isn't full in the picture. We know the fullness of the moon and the whole white hair thing is a prevalent theme in the story with the energy steroids and Minks. There is this theory that the minks are essentially calling upon the power of their ancestors. We even have Kuro way back in the East Blue seemingly having a connection the moon. Now I could be wrong as I haven't went back to confirm in the manga but in the anime when BB kills Thatch its all cloudy. Basically I am proposing that BB ISN'T carrying on someone's will nor passing his will onto others. Every Will of D member has done one of those things. This is why the moon is only a half moon.
Before I proceed I am going to propose what I consider highly unlikely but this thought crossed my mind. Could BB be part Lunarian? There a few things that fit into place if this is the case with the info we know. I think its possible that if any race would know about devil fruits it'd stand to reason to be the former gods right? I mean the current ones do so why not the ones before them? BB joined WB's crew to get the darkness fruit meaning he had his plan before he joined WB and no I don't think kid BB had some grand scheme back then. Merely he wanted to get the fruit to take the world.
Teach being half lunarian would also explain a few things. First how he was seemingly able to handle Ace's fire as well as he had. It would explain his unique body. As far as we know King is the ONLY Lunarian so I think that would qualify. It also would add another layer to when Teach was introduced. He was introduced in Jaya where he'd go on to say the sky island DID exist. This would also explain why BB is so weird as a member of the D clan. The only other D member of a different race than human was giants and that was Saul. Why would Oda include Saul? If we saw more giants have the D that would explain it more but we don't. It is JUST Saul's family that we know. But unlike Saul who comes from a society that worships the sun god BB IS a god. BB is both "a god" and an enemy of the gods. This is why BB is a D but doesn't smile. And why ultimately BB is his own worst enemy.
We need to know WHY BB would care about ancient history. And I think if he was part lunarian that would explain it. He could have wanted to learn all about the Lunarians. I mean we know Whitebeard and Big Mom heard of them so it is not impossible to gather that knowledge. The real question is how did he learn about Xebec? I have a thought. In a recent video Dak's Sake brought forth an idea for Shiki to end up playing a major role in the story. I don't really see Shiki being relevant in that way. But I CAN see Shiki being used to explain who Xebec was. This would explain where BB got the knowledge of Xebec since Shiki was on his crew. Here is a simple question. Why have the old hag from Wano change into a younger version of Shiki? I believe it is because THAT Shiki will be the same one who will give BB that knowledge. Why would Shiki give BB this knowledge? I d.on't really know. Mybest guess is some kind of scheme. But in truth I think the actual answer is kinda obvious. Consider when the God Valley incident happened. BB was like 2 when it happened. I am suggesting that Shiki was a bit more fresh from that event than Kaido and BM were so perhaps he just vented about Xebec or something.
With Kuma's backstory we know people of different races can have kids together yet the kid will take on the traits of one of the parents. This would be why BB doesn't really resemble the Lunarians. There is also something worth noting about BB. He has the darkness fruit which is the only other fruit in One Piece that can related to the theme of Space that isn't Luffy's own.
is that a bit of a stretch? I don't think so. Thanks to Egghead we know Kizaru's kid picture was relevant. It wasn't super direct but his love of studying as a kid ended up being important as him building a friendship with the world's most brilliant scientist. I am trying to interpret BB's picture in a similar way.
Do I think what i proposed is likely correct? Not even a little. But all these thoughts just came to me and I just had to blurt them out.

First here is a thought. I think as a community we keep trying to justify BB not sleeping but what if it is just a simple answer? Maybe that has NOTHING to do with his unique body. I mean we have to consider this is the same story that has characters be starving for an extended period of time and then just eat a buffet and are all okay. Not to mention the whole drinking milk thing. I think the actual reason BB could never sleep is NOT because of any biological reason but because he was always concerned with his own survival. Why a snow island? Well because the weather can be so extremely harsh it could lead to death. In a sense BB's goal to take the world might just be similar to Kuro's own motivation. To be able to live with peace of mind.
I'm shocked no one has mentioned that Vanderdeken may of originally been from the holyland & that the bloodline might be a Celestial Dragon bloodline & the original Vanderdeken may of been cursed by Imu. I honestly think that its heavily hinted that Imu or Joyboy is the one that cursed the Vanderdeken bloodline.

In Manga Chapter 1055 on Site 9 (in our mangas) there is an picture who is interesting for the "water flute the world"-theory.
The old king is going upstairs with Nico and Law to the old Wano City. And then he explained the walls building around Wano in the past. There are three pictures. So if you look to the waterlevel outside Wano, it will rise over the years. And this must happend bevor the lost century. And its not cause of the rain or something else. So in the past, Wano knows about the rising waterlevel. And expected it will go higher an higher over the centuries.
SO i think its a proof, that the weapons who rise the level exists in the past and would used by the enemie. And i think its also a proof, that the weapon was used similar times bevor Wano closed the borders and finished building the wall.

You mentioned that blackbeard has several souls, and I think that in the last photo his real personality was crying because it was weaker than the other souls in his body, and that real personality can wake up only at the nighttime. His real personality which is able to wake up only at nights (darkness) might be crying because the whitebeard pirates (white whale ship) accepted him in their crew (swallowed) and because all the crew members knew about the uniqueness of Blackbeard they always were suspicious and always looked at him (drilled with their eyes, just like eyes in the form of moon), especially at night time when the real personality awakens and gets "hated" bc of the another soul which acts at daytime. The real personality might be weaker than the soul in his body (rocks) and it can't get out at his own will. I think that this real personality is not bad, and just loves devil fruits (learns about them at nights). And hope that Luffy will eventually gift freedom to the real personality of Blackbeard.
Shame Oda didn't answer our SBS question. Maybe next time. Perhaps give him more wiggle room by asking how Moria got so many Rocks bodies?

I'm really surprised that you know about Rahu and Ketu since not many people know about jyotish however I think rather than Ketu, Blackbeard would be better represented by Rahu. Only because Rahu represents worldly desire and if I remember correctly ketu is believed to be responsible for the lunar eclipse while Rahu is known for his attempts at eating both the sun and the moon which is known as Rahu's revenge for being cut in two by Vishnu but it really could be either so its cool to here it mentioned.

Before it was revealed that Kuma's is a Buccaneer,i always speculated that Blackbeard might also be one,he is the only one with the same proportions and size.

ok hear me out since its endgame according to ODA or final arc if you wanna call it that and blackbeard hasnt used his third fruit space yet i have this feeling that hes gonna kill luffy and consume it but luffy's will could still be active inside him and since his devil fruit can pull anything theres no stopping him from emerging out of blackbeards body taking along his third soul and coming back to life which stops blackbeards from using that move again else luffy gonna take his second soul using the same method i dunno it just popped in my head
