Luffy's name is unique considering Japanese doesn't even have an "L" sound, and "ffy" is close enough to the Japanese character "fi" that the name clearly isn't Japanese in origin. Maybe it's English? How about Laughy? Laffy.. Luffy?? JoyBoy reincarnated into a kid named Laughy. Damnit, Oda, you did it again.
@@keano1457 Another commenter had some good insight. If a sail is catching waves of air that make it flap, it's luffing. I think it's both, a combination of Laugh and Luffing, because an uncontrolled sail represents Luffy's free spirit, and the name JoyBoy kinda implies smiling and laughing.
Probably on to something with the story of the buccaneers being inspiration for Oda. If Oda was not yet a socialist while researching for one piece manga he may have developed his love for socialist ideals and those heroes during that process of development of the story for one piece! @@darkstarplays6315 Very interesting, I like your thoughts! The angle of the Nika fruit being dreamed / willed into existence by the Buccaneers is interesting. I do believe the Devil Fruit represent distilled dreams / wishes, so it would make sense. I also think, given the messianic imagery, a traitor among JoyBoy's inner circle, ala Judas Iscariot makes sense. This is purely speculation on my part, but I was always a bit suspicious that Teach had a bigger reason for invading Impel Down. It just seemed like the mere possibility of liberating and recruiting the level 6 prisoners seemed too small. In the Inferno by Dnate, which inspired Impel Down, the bottom level of Hell was reserved for the great traitors - including Judas Iscariot. The devil himself, with three faces (much like Blackbeard's jolly roger), also is hidden at the very center. My impression was that Blackbeard / Xebec had a 'Morganeer' predecessor who served the role of traitor you're suggesting of Imu. I'm thinking that the 'devil' in One Piece would be Imu and the great traitor, like Judas, would be Blackbeard / Xebec's predecessor. Imu would be the one who tempted this evil pirate / member of JoyBoy's crew, much as the devil tempted one of the twelve to betray Jesus.

around 37 minutes in you drew conclusions about the tragedy of Kuma being a buccaneer which made me think what if the Bucaneers aren't slaves because of joyboy but like you were implying they may have been bred with giant hybrids for soldiers in the world government and born slaves when joyboy revolted for the reasons you provided
so does that mean, big mom dont have the buccaneer and she is looking for that race and lunarian? how does she have left, i fotgot and dont feel like looking it up, i hardly watched whole cake arc tbh...i needa watch it
Big Mom said there are three races not yet in Tottland, one of which was 'lost to the mists of time.' We know that there are no Giants in her kingdom, and she told King / Alber that he would be the first Lunarian. Considering that Saturn described the Buccaneers as extinct, with Kuma presumably being the last of his people, it's likely the Buccaneers are the third missing race from Tottland and the group Big Mom described as 'lost to the mists of time.' While the Lunarians are rare, I'd guess they aren't extinct given that Alber's parents at the very least must have been alive less than 50 years ago.
The one piece is one piece of rock that is the earth and the reason it's such a funny story is because he had to flush the toilet of the whole world's water
haha, well I do understand being anxious to get answers. At the same time, I never want this adventure to end. Personally, I've been reading One Piece for nearly 21 years now and I just can't imagine a time when we'll no longer be able to look forward to the next chapter.
They're effective titles which is part of the game when it comes to the TH-cam algorithm. But more fundamentally, the first two videos which preceded this one were written & recorded together as part of a bigger Mega Theory about the Void Century. In the first video, The Lost Pirate King, I made the case for why I believe JoyBoy was the world's first, now forgotten, Pirate King and explored the role he might have played during the Void Century in leading the Forgotten Kingdom. There are some other subtopics contained within, but the main premise is centered on JoyBoy. The second video is more focused on the One Piece itself; more specifically, I made the case for why I believe The One Piece wasn't actually JoyBoy's treasure or, at least, not something he personally created or left behind. The main thesis of the second video is that the One Piece is as old as the Grand Line itself predicated on several key pieces of evidence. The first is the fact that the Grand Line seems to have been constructed for serving the purpose of protecting the final island. The world's dating system, Kaienreki, which dates back 1500 - 1600 years, suggests that purpose was initiated hundreds of years before JoyBoy first set sail. Which leads to the conclusion that, if the Grand Line is meant to protect the One Piece, the treasure is older than JoyBoy - and thus something he too discovered. This is further reinforced by the lyrics of Binks Sake, which seemingly describe JoyBoy's adventures. One of the verses reads, "We are Pirates, sailing toward the end of the sea". I'm building on the assumption that Binks Sake is indeed about JoyBoy of course, but if that hypothesis is correct, then it would imply that just like Roger & Luffy, JoyBoy was also searching for something at the end of the sea. So, the question then is, if not JoyBoy, who or what created the One Piece? and what exactly is the treasure? The serpentine dragon figure which served as the basis for Momo & Kaido's Devil Fruit has been seen frequently throughout the Grand Line, and when we begin to delve into its mythological inspiration, it seems this dragon might even embody or represent the power of the sea itself in the One Piece world. I was planning to make a third video in the series about the downfall of JoyBoy & the Forgotten Kingdom, but changed plans as we began learning more about Kuma & the Buccaneers. My overall thesis has remained the same. In fact, the name of Kuma's people actually reinforces many of the ideas I previously put forward as we begin to examine the role they might have played in the One Piece world, based largely on their real world counterparts. So, you can really view these three videos as a trilogy of sorts. They're not making independent mutually exclusive claims, but each part of a larger whole. Essentially: First Video: JoyBoy was the world's lost Pirate King Second Video: The One Piece is actually a treasure as old as the Grand Line itself Third Video: JoyBoy was a Buccaneer, and by extension, a privateer who was first petitioned to set sail by a wicked monarch (Nerona Imu) before he discovered the One Piece and became the world's first Pirate King.
In the real world, yes, that's true. But within the One Piece world, the Buccaneers are a specific race of people. The World Government identified Kuma's birth from blood tests done at the hospital where he was born. Kuma asked Vegapunk what factors differentiate his blood from other humans (Punk didn't have a large enough sample size to explain). Ivankov said that the Buccaneers are at least part Giant, which offers us some insight into what sets them apart, but Bonney also suggested Kuma's people have some latent, yet unseen, 'abilities.' In the real world, the buccaneers were a distinct group of French sailors from the Caribbean in the 17th century, but you are right that 'buccaneer' wasn't their race. In the One Piece world, however, we've been told that the Buccaneers are a race of people, not just an organization or affiliation.
