    Who was JoyBoy? What are the Ancient Weapons? What happened in the Void Century? What is the One Piece? The answer to all of these questions may be found in the distant, forgotten past. In today's video, we're going to uncover the identity of the central figure from the Void Century believed to have left One Piece behind on the Final Island Laugh Tale. Ever since, Pirates from around the world have been sailing toward the End of the Sea in pursuit of dreams greater than they ever dared to imagine. JoyBoy's will was passed down to Roger and now to Luffy. With Nika's awakening, 'JoyBoy has returned', and it's almost time for Luffy to become the Pirate King by rediscovering One Piece and learning the True History of the World left behind by JoyBoy.

    This is pretty good but I'm more of the theory that the World Government were the original Pirates who overthrew Joyboy. Thats the whole point of the messaging behind Dressrosa and how they parallel the World Government.

      @@StrawHatJedi Is there a TL;DR for what you think caused the fall of the Lunarians? Is it the rule of the ancient kingdom, the creation of the Grand Line, or the Sky races leaving the moon?

    • @StrawHatJedi
      @StrawHatJedi  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@TheHardRocker2121 Exactly what caused their downfall is harder to predict than the timing. We now their 'land of gods' atop the Red Wall was 'long before Marijoa', so I think this rules out their being conquered during the Void Century. After all, Queen said their fate is recorded in the pages of history - which excludes the hundred years when history is not recorded.
      The Age of the Sea Circle began 1500 years ago (600 years before the Grand Line), so I would say that's most likely when the Grand Line came into being.
      1500 Years Ago: Transition from Tenreki to Kaienreki; Grand Line created
      900 Years Ago: JoyBoy's era began
      800 Years Ago: Reign of the WG began
      There's some interesting symbolism with the Lunarians, which bear the appearance of fallen angels. Oda's already using some terminology from the book of Genesis story of Eden with the Adam & Eve trees and the Devil Fruit. Eve grows in the same location as Marijoa / the Lunarians' 'land of gods' and they seem to resemble the Angels with flaming swords charged with protecting the trees of knowledge / life after the fall of Adam & Eve.
      The origin of the Devil Fruit is a mystery, but those who eat them are 'cursed by the sea', which suggests that whatever power created the sea circle is antithetical in some way. But in the story of Eden, the trees of knowledge & life weren't created by the devil, but by God. The devil has no creative power, only the power to tempt. Adam & Eve's sin was in eating the fruit they weren't supposed to, but the fruit itself wasn't evil.
      I think all of this lends to the idea that the 'Devil Fruit' were not created by the OP world equivalent of the Devil, but perhaps have divine origin - and the great crime was in stealing these powers.
      If the Lunarians were indeed 'protectors' of sorts (angels with flaming swords), then their downfall would either be - they were conquered by those who wanted to steal the Devil Fruit OR they surrendered their position to claim divinity for themselves.
      The devil is supposed to be a fallen angel, fitting with the imagery of the Lunarians - and given King's statement about belonging to a superior race, we can assume that he indeed has a god complex of sorts.
      At this point, I lean toward the Lunarians being somehow responsible for surrendering the Devil Fruit or causing their dispersal by falling from position of divine protectors to try to attain divinity for themselves.
      The other interesting detail is that Alber knew the name 'JoyBoy' without having read the Poneglyphs (he told Kaido about JoyBoy) - the only character thus far to do so. This could suggest that during JoyBoy's era, he was formed some type of alliance with the remaining Lunarians - who now await JoyBoy's return.

    • @StrawHatJedi
      @StrawHatJedi  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I guess that's not exactly a 'TL;DR' lol... shorter version: Angels with flaming swords charged with protecting the 'center of the world' who fell from grace, probably seeking power / divinity for themselves. The timeline could indicate this happened around the time the Grand Line was created - 1500 years ago (600 years before JoyBoy's era).

    • @TheHardRocker2121
      @TheHardRocker2121 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@StrawHatJedi Appreciate the response, I think I can get behind that reasoning. I do have some thoughts. It would make sense that JB would make an alliance with the Lunarians, since the WG wants to eradicate them. This would definitely imply that they were a crucial part of the VC. However, I still cannot understand WHY JoyBoy would need to form an alliance in the first place.
      I have always been stuck on figuring out how the Ancient Kingdom lost during the Void Century. They were enormous, had technology well more advanced than the time including a unlimited power source and Mechs, and were allied with some of the most dominant countries on the planet in Wano, Elbaf, supposedly Shandia, and Zou. They also had control of at least 2/3 ancient weapons.
      With that context, it is hard to see 20 kingdoms being able to take them on and win, as in my opinion, they power difference between AK and the 20 Kingdoms was way greater than that of Luffy's alliances and the WG. Thoughts?

    Talking about blackbeard, I've been looking into him a fair bit lately. You started mentioning curses and how it could relate to blackbeard. Early on drum island when black beard was first mentioned in the series luffy said people from snow countries don't sleep or they die. What if that was a curse put on blackbeard, and luffy heard it from shank's crew. A curse put on black beard that he never dies as long as he stays awake. So eating more than one devil fruit couldn't kill him. If he looked into curses to maybe try and deal with his own he could've read into the curse put on davy jones that was mentioned during the davy back fights. Devil fruits can be considered as a curse for taking away the ability to swim. However the curse put on davy jones couldve just been a devil fruit, one that stood up to all others, a devil fruit power that let him traverse the deep sea. Sorry but i love the theory of blackbeard having a davy jones fruit. When the straw hats were on they're way to fish man island they were in the deep sea which i think chopper mentioned it being a world of total darkness and in the same chapter had the flying dutchman make its way towards the sunny. A lot of it can be connected. One of my moat favorite things of one piece!!

    I think the one piece is a giant sake cup. Luffy’s true dream is something that shocked the entire crew, even the sunny. I think luffy’s dream is to liberate the world, unite the seas, and host the worlds largest banquet with everyone on board the sunny. Luffy will use gear 5 to stretch the sunny and enlarge it to fit the entire world, which is why the sunny has a stressed reaction. If luffy has the inherited will of joyboy, he probably also shares that ambition as well. Going back to the sake cup, the only way to exchange sake for brotherhood with the entire world is to have one giant cup of sake.

    I think the One piece has a connection with the ancient kingdom. The ancient kingdom, One piece and Joyboy all these are connected somehow. Because the world government erased everything related to these three names and they're stoping the people who going after them. All we know 800 years ago world government was formed by 20 kingdoms and the descendants become the celestial dragons. And one of the 20 kingdoms refused to join hands. It was none other than the Alabasta kingdom and the ruler of Alabasta was Nefertari D Lili and this character didn't return to her kingdom but sent a letter which handed over time after time by the rulers. Well this is my theory. The ancient kingdom was the most advanced kingdom in the void century. In Egghead Vegapunk satelite 1 saying about a futuristic place. This place might be the Ancient kingdom and that's where the Ancient weapons were built. So in the leadership of Imu the 20 kingdoms decided to bring down this Kingdom because they may be feared them because of their technologies. But because of their intentions Lili refused to join and she made an alliance with Joyboy. In chapter 1085 Imu addressing her as traitor and the initial D is the moniker of their ancient enemy. So Joyboy maybe decided to help Ancient kingdom and he made alliance with many people like Lunarians, Buccaneers, Fishmen...etc. But somehow Joyboy got defeated. But he hide the One piece from everyone and when he died the world government destroyed ancient kingdom and every traces of Joyboy and ancient kingdom. But Nefertari D Lili wanted to bring everything to light. So that's how maybe the ponegluphs made with help of Wano country. Now how the One piece is connected to these events maybe One piece is an invention or something else that can make the Ancient kingdom a powerful nation or making them superior. So this is the reason why the 19 kingdoms feared Ancient kingdom. So Joyboy and Lili may knew if it comes to wrong hands then it will be a bad thing. So that's why he hide it. This is my own theory so please take it silly.

We can assume that Aces mom most likely was the last known fruit user before luffy of this fruit. The reason. The birth thing she did. Remember what does this fruit do when not awakened. Makes the body rubber like. Not rubber, but rubber like qualities. Meaning that she can not only expand her womb for the size of the baby, but she can contrast and release muscles as needed to hold the baby in for longer.
    The nika fruit only accepts people that are a certain type of freedom. BB and the others types of freedom does not line up with the will of the nika fruit. So they are basically fake Joyboy's.

I don't quite think it's possible, it's rather better to think Joyboy and sun God nika are the same person or different person than think Imu as joyboy. They were opposites in every aspect. That's why its better to stay on the narrative line rather than sinking deeper into your own imagination or theories.

It's interesting that the world's papers seem to have invented both the title 'Pirate King' and the name of the treasure, 'One Piece'. this is completly out there: its crazy i never realised it... but doesnt the scar on luffys hat kind of resemble shanks scar. maybe thats some foreshadowing. maybe buggy represents rocks. if blackbeard is supposed to be modern rocks maybe rocks d xebec had the op op no mi before. i say this because buggy has a similair fruit to op op no mi and alvida references imu with her youth and slippery body. imu is implied to have imortality and a ink ink aka moon god fruit. so its possible that rocks used to be the king of the ancient kingdom just like buggy is gonna be a false king. it is also possible that joyboy is forshadowed using the strawhat. so when shanks made buggy eat the devilfruit maybe rocks was denied the moon god fruit by joyboy. as arcs tend to be inversed. in loguetown when luffy gets executed joyboys death is probably foreshadowed wich could lead to imus hate because not only did alvida admire luffy she also wittnessed his failed execution.

    -Then he is sent to the future again but without his fruit, crew and scars and assumes the name of Roger.

      Luffy's awakening indeed represents JoyBoy's return, but there's still a mystery as to what exactly that means. The drums of liberation beating with Nika's awakening remind Zunesha of JoyBoy from the Void Century.
      This suggests that 'JoyBoy', the central figure of the Void Century, once possessed the same Devil Fruit as does Luffy.
      The Elders and World Government have been trying to capture the Nika Fruit for 800 years - and according to Mercury, it hasn't awakened in those eight centuries. But that means it was awakened in the past - during the Void Century.
      The name JoyBoy is only known to those who have read the Ponglyphs s far as we've seen. No one besides those who have red the Poneglyphs have mentioned JoyBoy. Just like the events of the Void Century, JoyBoy has been completely erased from history.
      The name Nika on the other hand is only partially erased. While most contemporary texts omit any mention of the supposed 'sun god Nika', Vegapunk says the name may still be found in some of the very oldest manuscripts.
      For reference, Alabasta's recorded history dates back over 4,000 years. The Void Century took place just 800 - 900 years before the present. Meaning, the very oldest of manuscripts in which Nika's name may still be found are likely thousands of years older than JoyBy, predating the Void Century.
      This indicates that the 'Sun God Nika' was a legend even in JoyBoy's time. He channeled the same power as Luffy - the awakened Nika fruit, but JoyBoy himself wasn't a real solar deity in the same sense that Luffy wields Nika's power but is not Nika.

    • @orbboom6119
      @orbboom6119 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I wonder what's so important about the nika fruit, like yeah it makes luffy pretty strong, and it liberates people, but Bello Betty also does that, the WG wants gigantafication but San Juan Wolf's devil fruit also does that, infinite energy? The logias pretty much do that, so what will the ultimate use of the fruit be?🤔
      I'm thinking the nika fruit may have been the very first fruit and once they get a hold off it they could erase every devil fruit from existence or something, that'd be pretty major.

    • @captaintoet1983

      @@orbboom6119the devil fruit gives you freedom in the way you fight. It's also the symbol of freedom, the opposite of opression. A symbol is sometimes more powerful then a person. Then there is something about the void century which must be very significant. There's plenty of reasons for the WG to go after that fruit

    • @user-wj2ov8kq1o
      @user-wj2ov8kq1o 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@StrawHatJedi in the context of one piece there's a distinction between ancient and mythical for zoans. Ancient represent living beings who once existed but became extinct on the present day, on the other hand mythical are simply "fictional", they never existed in reality. myths and legends are simply "stories to be told". Nika is symbolization of people wishes for ultimate freedom. Also one core aspect people miss while luffy and roger share the same dream and goal, and we can understand luffy dream is something to laugh at, for his inherent goofy and childish personality, however is that Roger dream isit truly something to being laughed at when someone heard it, if the dream consists of having the world biggest party and gathering all seas in one was told by a sickly man, would you really laugh at him. Remember when common piratefolk laughed at the existence of sky island, is Roger dream reflect the same mentality or not? Is it laughable because it is a mockery or it is something people can laugh regardless of the content. The answer may not be biggest party after all.

      @StrawHatJedi  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I can understand your perspective, but if I may offer a counter perspective:
      Ultimately, One Piece is a story about pirates - and Oda has though deeply about what it means to center his seafaring story on those who sail the jolly roger. It's baked into the DNA of the series.
      Ultimately, One Piece is a story about the pursuit of freedom. Oda let us know from very early on that the treasure One Piece has greater significance than a pile of gold and that Roger's ideals and aspirations went beyond that of an ordinary cutthroat pirate - the opening of chapter 100 really set that in stone: "Inherited will. Dreams. Fate. As long as people hunger for freedom, these things will continue to exist."
      Oda has constructed his world such that the institutions of power have been thoroughly corrupted and thus become instruments of oppression. Waving the jolly roger signifies freedom of said institutions, which may be understood as a necessary or even noble calling in this fictional world depending on how that liberty is used.
      The sea in One Piece is the ultimate representation of freedom and Pirates are those who live in close connection to the sea. None more so than the Pirate King and as Luffy said, echoing the same sentiments as Roger, he doesn't want to conquer or rule the seas. He doesn't want to conquer or rule anything.
      Oda crafted his story such that Luffy is the hero the age demands - a Pirate King, not a radical revolutionary like Dragon. Oda began his creation process with Luffy - a young boy who dreams of piracy. And he constructed the narrative conflict around his protagonist. Meaning, he designed his world to facilitate a hero like Luffy, future Pirate King, being the ultimate paragon or champion of freedom.
      In that sense, particularly given the thematic importance of inherited will, passed down through the ages, it stands to reason that the person to whom One Piece previously belonged was a Pirate in the same mold as Roger and Luffy and espoused the same ideals or characteristics.
      Those values are needed to restore the world to its proper state in the modern era, so it stands to reason that the same applied during the Void Century.
      Given the frequency with which Oda uses the motifs of laughter and smiles, associated particularly with champions of freedom like Luffy, Roger, JOYboy, and Nika - the flag of piracy itself seems to fit with this symbolism. The jolly roger - a grinning skull and crossbones raised by pirates, warriors of the sea. But what does it signify? The same thing as those who carry the name D. smiling before meeting their fate, satisfied not only with their life, but content that they're not truly going to die. Dreams and inherited will live on, and eventually good wins out in the end, even if they loose their lives and it seems like evil triumphs in the moment. As Bink's Sake states, doesn't matter who you are, someday you'll just be bones. Which is to say, it seems likely that this imagery also resonated with JoyBoy and as such, I think it makes thematic sense that he too would sail the jolly roger in opposition to the tyrannical forces of his age - which seemingly prevailed.
      Of course this theory could prove to be incorrect. I only mean to say that if it does turn out to be accurate - if JoyBoy was indeed a pirate - I'm sure Oda will be able to pull it off in a way that fits narratively & thematically. In any case, right or wrong, I'm sure he has had JoyBoy's story mapped out from the beginning.

      I've been reading One Piece for 20 years; Posted very long essays on message boards since 2006. The center of conversation has shifted to TH-cam and other places. I just enjoy talking about One Piece and because these videos take a long time to make want to give them the best chance at receiving some views. I try to at least make the thumbnails not 'clickbait', but attention grabbing titles seem to be the most effective way for a video to gain some traction.
