It’s all about virtuosity and STYLE. Erroll is off the charts in both cases. In my humble opinion, no other pianist even comes close. There are more than a few fine and even great pianists and I have studied many of them but Mr. G is my hands down favorite. I am 82 years old and had photo taken of he and I when a lad fifteen years. It hangs proudly in my bedroom. If I were single it would be poster size in my living room. Very few days go by when I am not listening to his music. A good deal of the remaining time is spent with his music running through my head. Crazy huh!
Erroll Garner is surely one of the greats, but I believe Art Tatum and Bud Powell are strong contenders too, each being sublime at their own particle style and method. Bud Powell is my personal favorite, many of the reasons being how much I can relate to aspects of his life and the amount of compassion I feel for him, but Erroll Garner fills me with such a powerful and radiating happiness that it makes me want to spread it to everyone. That is a very unique power he has that I one day wish to be able to induce in people myself. I believe Mr. Garner really had something special, as did the other two I mentioned. I loved reading your comment! You put it very well. Have a wonderful day and enjoy your tunes :)
Dude I absolutely love Errol garner but I gotta say…Oscar Peterson? Liiiike dang. His quick style and just the sound he commands out of the piano is anazing
Ten-thousand stars!!!! Erroll to me was the most massive talents in music the world has ever produced. His music is like musical joy. Self-taught, having never taken a single lesson, he did things that many pianists said was impossible. He is my favorite musician regardless of what instrument he played. Sometimes he just makes me laugh untill I cry tears of pure joy. He was like a God to me and he made people so happy with his amazing genius and artistry!
Pure, unadulterated, 100 percent, uncut, mastery of the ivories. We're witnessing the joy of a GENIUS at work and play! R.I.P. oh great one! What a legacy! 🎹🎹🎹 🎶🎵
WOW!… Every time I think I know all the jazz artists, then a new one pops up from nowhere!… I was today years old when I found out about Erroll Garner! Thank algorithm...
Vintage Erroll Garner. Always a pleasure to hear the little genius at work. He died far too soon, aged just 55 on 2nd January 1977. My favourite jazz pianist.
Astounding playing! His genius is profound, is improvisation is stupendous and is awe inspiring. Such Mastery of the pitch space. His connection to the supernal is mystical.
Yo lo descubrí el año pasado y tengo 65.....nunca será tarde para descubrir este majestuoso músico; lo sorprendente es que nunca aprendió a leer música. Saludes desde Colombia.
That's Jose Mangual on Congas and I believe Ike Isaacs bass and Jimmy Smith drums, Jimmy I saw with Lambert Hendricks Bavan at Birdland on a bill with John Coltrane.
8:15 este músico no tiene que mirar el teclado,es el único que lo hace, desde la década de 1930, cuando tocaba en el carne hi hall con un memorable trío maravilloso ❤❤❤❤
Technical education please. How did Erroll only have to hear a song to get it then engraved in his memory to play for us? How does that work? hundreds of songs.
If anybody on this planet knows of a jazz pianist who was or is better than Errol Garner please name him/her and place their playing on world news for us all to judge.
Any of you guys remember that movie face off with John Travolta and Nicolas Cage I'm going to cut my own face off to this song this is a great song to cut your face off too!!!!
The most inventive pianist. So entertaining and entrancing.
I'M 86!Erroll is The Best jazz pianista I ever heard
Wooooowwwww. If you can sit still while listening to this, better check your pulse!

Erroll just hits me on an emotional level that other piano giants don't quite reach.

First time ever hearing Errol Gardner. I am in love.
When Jazz was Jazz! Swing, blues, unpretentious, raw, more heart and soul than brain!

WOOOOOOWWWWWW. Fabulous pianist! Genius again! Thank you!
The man who invented Lock hands Style, a brilliant leap forward in Jazz.
The tune at 6:40 I think is called The shadow of your smile.
It is. I love his intro. Overall, it was a great bluesy rendition with the full Garner treatment.
Erroll Garner is THE jazz artist. All others need to take lessons from Mr Garner.
GARNER SURVOLE LE PIANO, COMME UN OISEAU QUI CHANTE ET ENCHANTE NOUS TOUS...!!! SAUDADES... Salvador/Brasil.
thank you
Excelente.....!!
Oh my, he'll be with us always through his music.
Talent beyond compare, full of fun, with a little mischievousness and a pinch of devilment, the complete entertainer
Comfort music🎉💐✨
How many fingers does this guy have? I love him, always have. Saw him live once, Cape Cod. Didn't disappoint!
More (please) !
I just transcribed the second song On green dolphin street some days ago. Ane i still dont understand how he could improvise that way!!!
genious
When God came down to earth ....
He did not simply play classics, he reinvened them
He also created classics (misty)
Thanks so much for posting this!
The clip starts (& ends) with a version of EG's "Misty" played quite differently than what you found on the record. Green Dolphin Street is next.
Tengo 70 años y mi padre escuchaba a Errol cuando yo tenia 6. Stgo. Chile.

Eroll was ahead of his time that big muscular sound he gets from the piano. Tight conga playing and drumming as well.
If you need an inquiry about music here it is in its abundance. Sitting on the New York City telephone directory does not produce wrong numbers.
Errolls genius is on another level.
great
I like it very much how Erroll open this concert with his trade mark song Misty in a swinging style.
8:15 este músico no tiene que mirar el teclado,es el único que lo hace, desde la década de 1930, cuando tocaba en el carne hi hall con un memorable trío maravilloso ❤❤❤❤
Genius is a beautiful thing ❤
Erroll Garner had the greatest of all of it!
The best ever❤❤❤❤❤❤
A wild group of some pretty cool cats
Technical education please. How did Erroll only have to hear a song to get it then engraved in his memory to play for us? How does that work? hundreds of songs.
Do you have any more footage from Erroll Garner? If so, I will gladly pay.
YES, I have more Errol Garner stuff, contact me by e-mail - johnwet22@gmail.com
Erroll and Jose Mangual : that's my kick ...
Hi, what’s the name of the tune that begins at 10:58?
"I Can't Get Started" by Vernon Duke (composer) and Ira Gershwin (lyricist).
If anybody on this planet knows of a jazz pianist who was or is better than Errol Garner please name him/her and place their playing on world news for us all to judge.

Increible enlace hombre piano.
Hubiera sido mas brillanre aún conmenor demostración de su maestria natural.
Bongo don't go well with Errol ,it was a mistake !
Laber laber
Wer besser
Totally superfluous the congas, Erroll out of the goodness of his heart did that guy some charitable favour. And let him ruin the concert.
❤
