I got the iPad Air last month, mainly for drawing, and I absolutely love it. I use procreate and it works really well so far. I got a case with a slot for the Apple Pencil so I’m never scared of losing it. Sure charging it is a little awkward, but not a big deal for me :) plus you don’t need to charge it very long or often. It was more in my budget and I still had money to buy the accessories like the pencil, a case, the procreate app, a paperlike screen protector. I think it’s something to think about ^^ it’s as good as a pro from a few years ago.
I have an question, does the old model are compatible with clip studio paint and apparently ot was not fluid i mean csp doesnt work well on old model, if its not working well then i have to save for the newest one

Great video with great points. I’m a student, and have used both. I believe the iPad Air is a great supplementary machine just for note taking. I used it as such, and had a MBP as my main machine. I have since consolidated, sold my MBP and iPad Air, and got the 12.9 iPad Pro as my only machine. I have no regrets, I absolutely adore my iPad Pro and it’s perfect for everything I do. The USB C vs lighting and larger screen has mad a huge difference. I really think it is just up to your personal preference and budget. Don’t hemorrhage your budget for a device, nothing is worth that. I’m excited to see what else is coming out, but I doubt I’ll update since I’m very happy with my iPad Pro and don’t need anything else.
I just got a 256GB iPad Pro on sale for $779 and was trying to decide between it and the Air. At that price decided to bite the bullet and get the Pro over the Air.. pretty impressed so far and I know it will get last me years of use. I upgraded wife and I to an 11” iPad Pro for the wife and a 12.9” for myself. With IOS13 they are the best upgrade we’ve made. No need for a laptop when you add a nice keyboard case, a good mouse and an Apple Pencil. JMO.

Nice comparison Noah. Been looking for something like this for a while. Question - with the new iPad Pro rumoured to be out in 2020 (probably the first half) do you see more improvements to the current iPad Pro than the obvious camera upgrade which has shown up in the renders? This is probably the least important part of an iPad - surely they'll be upgrading other aspects too? Screen? Battery? Build? Just thought I'd ask your opinion. Thanks!
You have no idea how much i love your videos. I just can't believe that you don't have even more subscribers. Your videos are such high quality and watching them is such a nice experience. Thank you, please keep creating.
Just got the iPad pro 11 it's a beast. its excells in well everything you can pretty much use it like a laptop great for gaming and its amazing for drawing and digital art as an Artist I highly recommend this. Just make sure you can afford it because its not cheap.
PLEASE NEED RECOMMENDATION ASAP. Actually, I now confused between getting iPad air (2019) 256gb or iPad pro (2020) 128gb. I am at the end of the first-year students on an advertising major, and I would like to use the iPad for drawing and taking some notes. My current decision is iPad air 256gb, but now I'm confused should I add more 150$ to upgrade to the iPad pro but only get 128gb. I wonder for those, is 128gb okay for me (maybe 5 years period usage) as I also have a laptop and galaxy phone right now.
@@adequatequality Thanks! I won't be using it that intensively. I am new to Apple and never used one of their devices. I was not sure if the difference is extremely high between them or something. This helps!
I wanna ask cos Im planning to buy ipad but i still dont know what to choose between pro 128gb & air 256gb, I just do video editing, netflix & playing cod. Badly need help which to choose? Is worth upgrade to pro? Or Air 4 256gb will work?
I went from an iPad 4 to an iPad pro 9.7 (1st gen). The sound quality coming from the quad speaker setup on the iPad pro is day and night and worth a good chunk of the price difference to me. But there were no $330-ish iPads at that time but I still feel the sound quality is superior to the cheaper iPads even today.
Just watched some of your videos on ipad pro ..and they are very informative...I’ve been using 7th gen for couple of months (previously the 5th gen since 2017), and since the release of magic keyboard, I tempted to upgrade to an Ipad pro, but still consider the size whether 11 or 12.9. I my ipad 7th gen (and keyboard case - no trackpad) around 60-70% of my activities (compose/replying business emails, browsing, youtube, streaming, even whatsapp web messaging- I also heavily using whatsapp as a communication mean with my colleagues or business stakeholders), the rest of my business activities use my office laptop (thinkpad x280 - which I find its actually quite powerful, but since it’s a dedicated office laptop, the IT policy is kinda frustating with some major limitation) for matters I cannot do with my Ipad. Which model do you think I should upgrade, the 11 or 12.9? The consideration should be screen estate, portability and ‘size properness’ (I have a colleague that had a 12.9 older ipad pro model and he finally switched to 11 because getting mocked many times due to its enormous size - which actually I don’t have issues with such a big size). Thanks for your insight!
That's not the only way to charge the 1st Gen Apple Pencil but that would mean having to buy a separate charger to charge it. Honestly, I recently invested in an iPad Pro and it is just better in every way. Even if you are a student, you're talking about approximately, a $300 additional investment which if you stretch over the 4 years of undergrad you go through, possibly 5 or 6 if you plan to attend grad school and it comes to around $0.21/day (for a 4 year period). It is not worth the compromise of getting an iPad Air and the 1st Gen Apple Pencil. What I do wish Apple would have done is redesigned this year's iPad Air to be compatible with the 2nd Gen Apple Pencil and price it cheaper and it would become far more difficult to justify getting the iPad Pro unless you just wanted it for whatever reason but Apple kept the old design so the answer is pretty clear. Not to mention what a life saver it is having USB Type-C. On a side note, I'd love to see Apple using USB-Type C ports on future flagship iPhones but if rumors are true and they're moving towards relying on wireless charging entirely, chances of that happening are slim.
Bought my iPad Pro back in March and never looked back. After the current update, I even started using it more than my MacBook Pro. It’s a very capable machine.
I have the newest MacBook Pro 15inch. I'm a photographer and do lots of editing. I also do draw and want to get into digital drawing. I do like that the pro has USB C so I COULD plug my converter in..... if I wanted. And edit photos. But why edit photos on that that's why I have the laptop. But anyways.... I'm torn as to which one to get. If I didnt want to bring my laptop somewhere I could use the pro..... idk. I'm not sure which to get. Is it worth getting the pro if i have a Mac Book Pro?
When I used to confuse which ipad was better before. Btw Noah I havealways loved how you designed your thumbnails. Something about it is just so eye-catching 🤩
I think it's kind of obvious that iPad Pro is the better iPad between the two across all fronts. I was kind of expecting a different comparison than how other tech TH-camrs did it, like if the additional price tag price is worth it, or is the iPad Air already enough? Or maybe a more in-depth analysis?
I need iPad for watching TH-cam movie ( 3 movies ) and I use it watch the workout from TH-cam when I am working out at hone , n I spend 2 hrs on reading .... may I know which one should I buy between iPad Pro and iPad Air ? I’m more concern on the screen . Thank you
Thanks for this great video. I sold my 12'9 inch iPad pro. I was extremely disappointed with the fact that the external storage (hard drive or USB stick) was rarely recognized even though I had the latest version of the software. I stick to my MacBook pro and its ubiquitous dongle.
Hi i wish to buy the ipad pro but i am concerned about the durability.... Will it be easily bent after i put on a screen protector and case? Will the screen protector affect my drawing experience?
Swapped my IPad Air 3 for an iPad Pro 2018 for pretty much the same price on ebay , main differences is Face ID and the pro motion display and the speakers ( make a huge difference).
The simple answer is it depends on your budget. If you spend the extra, it is worth it. I’ve had both the 1st gen iPad Pro, and own the latest version iPad Pro. The 2018 iPad Pro with USB C and Apple Pencil 2 are soooo much better.
Joe Edmunds I agree, the USB-C on the iPad Pro is sometimes overlooked/underrated. It allows me to use the same accessories that I use with my macbook pro instead of having separate lightning adapters, which is a convenience I don’t take for granted. The one thing I really hate is how the iPad Pro doesn’t have a headphone jack. I understand Apple wants to push sales of their AirPods and AirPod Pros, but a “Pro” device, especially one as large as the iPad Pro, should have a headphone jack so that podcasters, video editors, etc can use lower latency, higher quality wired headphones
I owned the iPad air 2 from 2015. Just updated to the 2017 iPad pro for $375 in July. Don't think I need the newest pro for my uses. If the a10 is still running smooth in the base iPad, the a10X plus the other "nice-ities" it has over the basic ipad is enough for me for the next 3-4 years..
I do photo and video editing, I’m probably also gonna use an iPad to take notes and draw (even though I probably wouldn’t spend as much as is needed to get the 12.9”) and I’d like my device to last a long time without looking too “outdated”, so I think I would go with the iPad Pro 11” The 256Gb is sometimes discounted to cost just 100-150€ more than the iPad Air 256GB, so that’s my target!! Also I think the Apple Pencil 2 is simply a much, much better design both for charging, storing and controls
IMO the only one that will come close enough to your MBP would be the 12.9" iPad Pro. Just understand that there are some big trade-offs in choosing to *replace* a Mac laptop with an iOS-only-based tablet. I've read more than a few instances of people who regretted it and wound up needing to switch back.
I was thinking about the air. I bought the pro for 2 reasons, the refresh rate and the loook. I absolutely love the new look. But to be honest the air would have worked for me. Your review on the pro also made me buy it haha.
I own iPad Pro 2018 and iPad Air 2019. Both 64GB. I paid last year for PRO version 500 bucks. For 470 you can buy brand new iPad Air , renewed iPad AIR 350-400. iPad Air 2019 is a real beast for gaming and browsing. One more thing, I prefer the “bloody” Home Button (Air) instead gestures (Pro). Pro version has Memojis. The Screens of Air and Pro are fantastic, but 4 speakers of Pro version are best of best.
Andrew Allan , sorry I bother you again. If it’s not necessary don’t buy any IPad yet. There’s a rumour that in 3 weeks (September 2020) Apple is going to announce a new iPads. I apologise.
Can you compare the air 3 to the pro 10.5 inch? The older pro might be a lot cheaper now and it does have 4 speakers and 120 Hertz refresh rate just like the newer pro... Don't know the other differences, but for more price sensetive buyers it might be interesting to see how it's holding up against each other...
2nd gen iPad Pro is better than the iPad Air 3 better speakers, display, camera and higher storage the air only has the A12 but the A10X is still a great processor that’s more than capable of holding its own.
I have one, ugly bezel and the bezel is so bad for fps gaming navigation, make u need to extend ur finger farter inside so ur not causing ur ingame character suddenly stop and fucked by other player 😂😂
Have the ipad pro 11, i dont even use half of its power, but still happy i bought this over the normal. I do think I regret a bit I didnt buy the 12”. The 11 isnt that much bigger than the ipad 8”. Where the 12 looks like a monster screen... game such as black desert is amazing, best game yet. And graphic wise just awsome. Also I love the fast charging.
@Jennifer Lawrence HI, I actually have not tried this myself, but everything I have read in reviews and marketing material leads me to believe that it will not work.
Noah, do you have a iPad Mini 5 vs iPad Air 2019 comparison up your sleeve? It looks like identical features aside from the obvious portability vs screen real estate debate. What I'm really waiting for is an iPad Mini Pro. I'm so tempted to buy the Mini 5 but I feel that the pro is just around the corner.
I am about to start college and study medicine and I really do not know which one to buuy, please help! I am basically between iPad Air 3rd gen, iPad Pro 2020, and the surface pro 7, the iPad Air is the cheapest and probably the most convenient for me since I do have a mac and do not really need to replace my computer. However I am attracted to a keyboard with a trackpad and the new pencil. I basically just need someone to convince me I do not need to spend an extra 400 dollars and just get the iPad Air haha. I will need to edit pdf, like being able to write on books underline, etc. As well as being able to take notes on a more advanced app since I will need to attach pictures and diagrams, etc. Will the iPad Air do that for me?
Amazing video. Keep up. Ipad pro army rocks 💯💯 Btw little question, i was wondering if i should buy the ipad pro 2018 right now or wait for 2019 to release. In india 2018 model is very expensive. Over a 1000$ with pencil n case. After all discounts. Now that renders have started to leak fully. I am in a dillema. Have a look at my question. Please and Thank you.
Get the Pro. I made the mistake to get the Air. I totally forgot that i needed the Pro's speakers. The sound between the Air and Pro is Night and Day. Good Stereo/Surround sound on the Pro vs mono sound of the Air. Better yet, get the 12.9 inch Pro. You won't regret

I had my ipad Mini since 2015, still running, one of my best purchase and now planning on either the pro 11 inch or Air
Great job young man doing the comparisons. Older non tech users can watch this video and help them decide which one to get.
Should I still buy the iPad Air next month? or would they be releasing an update to this model soon?
Unless you REALLY need the bump in processing power and the "clout" of a new device, you should just get the Air 2019.
@@adequatequality Thanks! I won't be using it that intensively. I am new to Apple and never used one of their devices. I was not sure if the difference is extremely high between them or something. This helps!
I wanna ask cos Im planning to buy ipad but i still dont know what to choose between pro 128gb & air 256gb,
I just do video editing, netflix & playing cod.
Myon-Je weird flex but okay
Cheta Enwegbara who is flexing?
Myon-Je you
Cheta Enwegbara sorry to disappoint you, but no one is flexing. I’m sorry that you took it that way.
Myon-Je okay just seemed like a flex saying u got a macbook pro and ipad pro when there’s no point in having both mate
Got an IPad Pro 12.9 for Christmas it’s amazing
How much discount you got from stores/online shops?
Thanks for the content / information. You addressed my questions and helped me make my decision. Greatly appreciated.
What about the sturdiness? iPad pros are breaking left and right while the old design was proved to be pretty sturdy
Great comparison! Excellent video for someone looking at which Ipad to get. Very informative!
I think I elaborated on this. Made my recommendations at the end which justify spending more or less.
I already got a laptop tho so is ipad air would be better for me??? Would photoshop working well on air?
I love my regular iPad 7th Gen for notetaking. :)
Hey, I just wanted to know whether applications like photoshop cc work on iPad air 3 smoothly?
Was this before ipadOS released?
Hi i wish to buy the ipad pro but i am concerned about the durability....
Will it be easily bent after i put on a screen protector and case?
Will the screen protector affect my drawing experience?
Swapped my IPad Air 3 for an iPad Pro 2018 for pretty much the same price on ebay , main differences is Face ID and the pro motion display and the speakers ( make a huge difference).
Great video Noah, I am very happy with iPad Air 3 especially after i bought Logitech Combo touch keyboard. Works great with iOS 13.5
John Kelada hownwas your logitech? Unfortunately its not yet available in Philippines 😭 maybe next months
Jay ar Dorado awesome keyboard, love it
I love the both ipad but now i have ipad air 3 since 1year and i dont want change yet 😁✌️ thanks for the video ❤️
You do know the Apple Pencil gen 1 comes with a USB connector in the box, right?
I have an iPad Air 3, very pleased. however, the next gen iPad Pros I will be upgrading to a 12.9 inch display. great vid.
Never thought Noah Herman will watch Davie504 at 5:01! :D
He's slapping the iPad
504 501
I owned the iPad air 2 from 2015. Just updated to the 2017 iPad pro for $375 in July. Don't think I need the newest pro for my uses. If the a10 is still running smooth in the base iPad, the a10X plus the other "nice-ities" it has over the basic ipad is enough for me for the next 3-4 years..
I do photo and video editing, I’m probably also gonna use an iPad to take notes and draw (even though I probably wouldn’t spend as much as is needed to get the 12.9”) and I’d like my device to last a long time without looking too “outdated”, so I think I would go with the iPad Pro 11”
The 256Gb is sometimes discounted to cost just 100-150€ more than the iPad Air 256GB, so that’s my target!!
Also I think the Apple Pencil 2 is simply a much, much better design both for charging, storing and controls
Hi bro, thanks for your videos! I need a little advice here... Which iPad would you choose to replace a 2015 MacBook Pro Retina 13"?
IMO the only one that will come close enough to your MBP would be the 12.9" iPad Pro.
Just understand that there are some big trade-offs in choosing to *replace* a Mac laptop with an iOS-only-based tablet. I've read more than a few instances of people who regretted it and wound up needing to switch back.
I was thinking about the air. I bought the pro for 2 reasons, the refresh rate and the loook. I absolutely love the new look.
But to be honest the air would have worked for me.
Your review on the pro also made me buy it haha.
So actually if I need an ipad just for university, taking notes or reading pdfs/ebooks IPad air will do?
Well done I really enjoyed the review you answered my questions. I appreciate your hard work
Great comparison ❗️you do a good job of covering nearly every point👍✅
Hi does anyone recommend the 2018 iPad pro renewed or the hopefully upcoming 2020 iPad air? Any comments welcome.
I'm watching this on my Ipad Air 2013 and I'm loving it your video. Because it's very expensive for me like Ipad pro at Best Buy.
Great video. Thank you. Pro w/out doubt has a stunning and futuristic look, i will go with the air.
I choose I pad mini 🤣😅
F23R Mystic it’s so lightweight I genuinely forget its in my bag sometimes
I recently got mine, it's awesome! It's basically a iPad air3 but smaller
I have one, ugly bezel and the bezel is so bad for fps gaming navigation, make u need to extend ur finger farter inside so ur not causing ur ingame character suddenly stop and fucked by other player 😂😂
Mantap Djiwa bruh stfu
@@mantapdjiwa9768 who TF plays fps on a frickin Tablet???
I have been using the iPad mini 3 for 5 years I should get an Air right?
Have the ipad pro 11, i dont even use half of its power, but still happy i bought this over the normal. I do think I regret a bit I didnt buy the 12”. The 11 isnt that much bigger than the ipad 8”. Where the 12 looks like a monster screen... game such as black desert is amazing, best game yet. And graphic wise just awsome. Also I love the fast charging.
I have the 2017 iPad Pro and I love ittttt.
I just film with my iPhone on 4K at 30 FPS. Do you think the iPad Air is efficient enough for video editing?
Ive been asking around re: if ipad air 3 is decent for procreate or even apple pencil intensive apps like goodnotes...should I just upgrade?
Which is better for Procreate
Watching on the mini 2019 and satisfied
@Jennifer Lawrence HI, I actually have not tried this myself, but everything I have read in reviews and marketing material leads me to believe that it will not work.
Noah, do you have a iPad Mini 5 vs iPad Air 2019 comparison up your sleeve? It looks like identical features aside from the obvious portability vs screen real estate debate.
What I'm really waiting for is an iPad Mini Pro. I'm so tempted to buy the Mini 5 but I feel that the pro is just around the corner.
0:15 i like how he says “spend a little more”
I am about to start college and study medicine and I really do not know which one to buuy, please help!
Keep up. Ipad pro army rocks 💯💯
Btw little question, i was wondering if i should buy the ipad pro 2018 right now or wait for 2019 to release.
In india 2018 model is very expensive. Over a 1000$ with pencil n case. After all discounts. Now that renders have started to leak fully. I am in a dillema. Have a look at my question. Please and Thank you.
Only aspect from note taking, which ipad is better....ipad air/ipad pro 19/ ipad pro 2020....plz tell which is in budget also....
I have the ipad air and i am very happy!!!😎
Get the Pro. I made the mistake to get the Air. I totally forgot that i needed the Pro's speakers. The sound between the Air and Pro is Night and Day. Good Stereo/Surround sound on the Pro vs mono sound of the Air. Better yet, get the 12.9 inch Pro. You won't regret
great video. just got the ipad pro 12.9 3rd gen for 4k video editing and raw photo editing....much cheaper than the imac i want.
