I heard that both pro and air are easier to bend. But the 7th generation iPad product is thicker, and the screen is not Fully laminated display. So does the 10.2 iPad in 2019 (7th generation) easy to bend also?
The iPads seem to be getting bigger and bigger! I’m lost; what was the point of creating a iPad Pro that starts at 11” if there’s a 10.2” standard iPad? From what I’ve discovered; if the only difference between the different iPads is their sensors and their chip sets, then why make them so similar?

You wont need the extra power for watching youtube or surfacing web , not even most games
The extra power will help if you are one of the few people that use ipad for high intensive tasks , for example editing a 4k video..
Or you want to keep your device for too long , then yes that a12 chip will future proof better than the a10
The only actual difference is the Screen and i am not sure if it is worth adding 50% extra price , specially now after deals 250$ vs 450$ thats extra 80%

I ordered the yellow one thinking it was going to be a bright vibrant color. Instead I looks like more of a Gold color. I personally prefer the gold look. Definitely not disappointed but just a heads up to the ones expecting a brighter cream of yellow.
Modern consumerism makes us believe that we have to get the newest and greatest. The 10.2 ipad is great especially considering that it's going to be on sale starting at $239 on Black Friday. If you just want a secondary web browsing machine, a student who wants to take notes, or want to gift this to your non-technie parents get the 10.2. I had the pro and realized it was overkill for my needs of annotating PDFs. I think the Air is great but if the price difference is too much I would pass.

I ended up getting the Air 3 for a couple of reasons: first it was the double capacity, 32GB vs 64GB, then the fact that the Air has the second gen Touch ID, plus the laminated screen, that also has true tone and a "sleeker design" because of that tiny 0,3 inch screen difference. For €149 more I think it was worth it in my particular case.

Im just looking to upgrade from original iPad Air which is slow and clunky, as I see it more RAM, much faster processor, double space, and better screen, for €150 extra on something you cannot upgrade, it is no no brainer. Nothering at all wrong with the solid iPad based model, but for most who will get 5 years plus, safer bet to take the higher end model.

Getting the 10.2" for Christmas along with the pencil :) I'm mainly going to use the iPad for drawing and school work. Me being broke and never owned any apple products because they're so expensive and overpriced, this is something new for me.
Edit after Christmas: Now had the ipad for two weeks and it's been amazing, created some art, including a piece for school and I love it :) For the price and never owned any apple product, it has met my expectations. Totally recommend for people who want to start digital art and prefer using a tablet screen ^^

Biggest factor everyone seems to forget is that the cheaper, older pro will get outdated way sooner

nah if the 6 year old 2014 Air 2 lasted this long and still going strong then the 2017 Pro definitely has some more life ahead of it i’d say the next 5-6 software updates
Paranoid Astronaut Exactly! I have my original 12.9 inch pro from 2015 and it’s still running the latest software as smooth as day 1 and it’ll even get IPadOS 14 :). With apples current trend of supporting devices longer and longer, no one should worry. The software support will probably outlast the hardware to be quite frank.

I mean I just got gifted the Apple air first generation and it’s still pretty good. Kinda slow but it’s totally fine. I just want a new one cause I want to use the Apple pen which doesn’t work with the 2013 Ipad I have.

I bought the 7th gen 10.2 inch one and so far, I think it’s working great for the price I got it for. I got the 128GB but it was on sale so I got it for 329 instead of 429. I’ve been constantly drawing on it, taking notes etc. I’m glad I bought it so I definitely recommend :)
I was debating between these 2 iPads back years ago. I wanted to use my iPad as a drawing tablet & I had to pick between the iPad 7 & Apple Pencil or iPad Air 3 without.
I'm VERY glad I went with the iPad Air 3 as in 2023 it's projected to get FAR more support than the iPad 6 & 7. Got the Apple Pencil like a month after buying it as a birthday present!

I'm planning to buy ipad air but watching all these kinds of things, this would be my first apple item
I’m watching this on an iPad mini 2. It’s...fine. It still gets updates so I still get the drag & drop 2 windows multitask... which I never use. I mainly only watch TH-cam & Netflix, does some Google diving, social media browsing on this thing. I do wish I can actually edit document (like table heavy word files) on it, but I don’t really want for anything else. I actually got less interested in replacing my current device after watching this. The video is great, thorough, honest & informative. Just that holding this ancient relic in my hand, still able to do all the things its youngest siblings can do, goes to show that I (& you) really don’t need the latest & greatest of anything. Even after 7yrs, 2 screen replacements (notoriously common with my model) & a dead Home button, I’ll be sticking with this one until it finally draws its last breath.

A small point ... if you get that budget iPad in black colour, that gap in the display is not that dramatic as how it shows on the white colour. 😊
As I take notes every single day using a pen on my iPad Air 3, the laminated display (10.5”) makes a huge difference compared to the glass display (10.2”). You can find it for $469. Trust me it’s very much worth the extra money as it feels much closer to paper than the latter. That means everything when I’m using this 6-8 hrs a day.

If you need more than 128GB storage, you HAVE to spend the money on the iPad Air. It costs $649 for the 256GB iPad Air (add $130 for the cellular version of the 256GB Air).
I got the 10.2 with the apple pen for my daughter (she loves to paint and color) very happy with my purchase. In regard to the display when watching videos the 10.2 looks great to my eyes so it'll be fine for a kid.

Roberto Aglieri how old if she’s not a teenager get the regular 10.2 it’s served my daughter well she loves it as she can play roblox on it. If she’s a teenager I’d say the iPad Air with a keyboard and mouse would be good for her, it would be her own personal computer.
I was between the 128gb ipad 7 vs 64gb Air 3 for my 6yr old. I was worried the 64gb would not be enough storage for downloaded Disney + movies and learning apps but decided to go with the 64gb over 128gb because I am hoping the tablet will grow with her and the A10 fusion chip wouldn't outlive the A12. I have never owned an apple product as I am not a fan of their prices.
Anaisabel Del Rio hey my daughter was still using a iPad mini 2 until December last year I just kept it updated and it kept chugging along no problem my mom has it now still works fine.
When it comes to tablets Apple is unbeatable sure they make some lemons but overall they’re just a brick. Make sure you get Apple care on it $65 to repair a broken screen is a good deal you have like 90 days to activate it.

I've been wanting to buy an ipad for drawing purposes. I was convinced on the ipad pro because of it's bigger screen. Recently I've decided I don't need a bigger screen since I'm used to drawing on my phone(a note4) and any tablet size would do. Then I was convinced the ipad 10.2 was fine. But seeing such a side by side comparison, I'm now leaning towards the air. So thank you very much for the in-depth insight!

If you can and are willing to, I’d recommend trying to pick up a second hand ipad air 3 if you’re on a budget like I am. For the price of the base ipad, I picked up an excellent condition ipad air 3 and don’t regret it. For me the selling points of the air were:
-laminated display with P3 gamut with reduced latency with apple pencil
-slightly bigger screen and basically a 2017 pro body.
-anti reflective coating
-A12 chip with more ram
The base model is fine for everyday use and I know it’s gonna be on sale for $250 or less, but spending just a little more for the air which I think has better longevity and scores significantly higher in benchmarks compared to the base model seemed worth it. Either way if you want to buy them new or as a gift that’s your prerogative and I don’t judge :)
I’m using the 10.2 inch and overall, I loved how it performed in my everyday tasks to it even though it is only equipped with an A10 processor
I just purchased the iPad 10.2 from target for $229 I had the iPad mini 2. The 10.2 is more than enough for students and the average user especially if your not a professional.
I sold my iPad mini 5 and got the iPad Air 2019. I use it most for gaming and those big bezel on the iPad mini 5 were really annoying.

@@leoni6050 you get more storage though than the other one and it still costs less, I'm using a 128 gb 6th gen iPad and I would be running out of storage very soon if I bought an iPad air instead, I'm at like 40-50ish gigabytes used and I don't even go out of my way to put a ton of stuff on my tablet

Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Enable “Limit Frame Rate”

Performance and the display are making me want to return my 10.2 for the air. Don’t get me wrong it’s not bad but performance doesn’t feel as fast or fluid as I prefer and the non laminated display although nice does feel a bit weaker.

If you're buying iPads for intense gaming you're doing it wrong lmao you can build a decent gaming pc for about 500 or so that will last longer and run better so please don't buy it for that reason. All the other reasons seem nitpicky to me. I have the 10.2, I use it mainly for digital art and it's amazing for that. Everything else said here really comes down to prefence, especially the feel of the size and weight.

I am a starting medical student and as you know I'll be using the unit primarily of note taking and learning experiences. What would you really recommend between air and ipad.. It will be my first apple product. Consider highlighting with pdf, annotations and etc.

There is one other consideration. For the extra money, how much longer will it be relevant? Example...I purchased a Mini 2 when version 4 was available. It was my first pad and I didn't want to spend any more than I needed to. It was great! BUT! NOW I can't upgrade to OS 13, while the Mini 4 can. For this reason, and the available 256 GB on the Air, I'm going with the Air. And the 256 GB is also a long-term consideration. I'm expecting each new major upgrade of the OS...14, 15, 16 will bring the iPad closer and closer to being a true lap top alternative. Having that extra 128 GB, and better processor, gives the device room to grow.
I have the white 10.2 and I love it! Your black iPad Air 3 looks like an iPad Pro though! I wonder if the black 10.2 would have been the better choice over the white one. Great comparison video!
I just bought the 10.2 I'm waiting for it to arrive and the only thing I'm going to use it for is for drawing and I have a huion canvas pro 12 and photoshop so that's still my main drawing device but I was just looking for something more portable so I could draw digitally at school or if I just want to draw in my bed. So I think it's good enough for my needs, of course an ipad pro would be amazing but I'm currently a starving artist so i had to go with the cheapest but I just can't help but feel I made a bad choice because there's so many negative reviews on it but also a few good ones. There was even a video called don't buy the 7 gen ipad....I didn't watched it because I already bought it and I didn't want to feel a lot of regret before I even has arrived....I just feel like because it's the cheapest it automatically gets bad reviews but for the price it should be pretty good. Also I think it's a good choice to get the cheapest to test if it's something I like and If i like it and i start actually earning money on my art i can go out and get a pro. It just annoys me when it gets compared with something that's a hundred bucks more expensive because no shit, it's more expensive so of course there should be more quality. Can't we just appreciate that apple does produce devices for everyone? No matter if you can afford the pro or the 10.2 you can get an ipad.
Exactly. I was looking at refurbished pro but came back to the 10.2. I played around w it at Wal-Mart and like it very snappy. Even with drawing w finger it was very smooth to write. So after months of reviews looking at different tabs. Decided on ipad 10.2 128gb w apple pencil. Still stays within my budget of under $600 too. Just want a secondary device for drawing I think the 10.2 will be good.
I have a Kindle hd8 w a capacitive stylus which works okay but no pen pressure.
An xp pen artist 12 which I love but don't want to be tethered to a computer so giving that one to a friend and getting an iPad as a belated bday/ Christmas present lol.
Now that it's been a little while what do you think? These are the same reasons I want one but having trouble deciding between the two...

Hello!! I enjoyed the video as usual. I have the 10.2inch IPad and I absolutely enjoy it!! It’s perfect for games, and radar and satellite images. I’m a Storm Spotter. I really don’t have anything against it except for the camera. However, I have an IPhone 11 so it’s no big deal. It’s fast, battery life is amazing, and really handles graphics amazingly well. The sound isn’t too bad either.

I'd personally go for the 10.2 with the 128 gb storage. The lack of true tone isn't noticeable to me, and I was able to purchase the Apple Pencil with the money I saved. No regrets! :)
As someone who has both. (One for work. Graphic art. One for class) the I pad air 3 is so much better with the Apple Pencil as well as an ANAZING display. I chose it over the iPad Pro simply because I like Touch ID on my iPad and the fact it has the same chip is great. However if you just need it for basic work or school the 7th gen iPad is great.

I purchased the new iPad Air in April of this year when it was first released. After getting it I had my doubts about it and almost returned. However since iOS 13 was released it has made a world of difference in the overall performance of this iPad. I feel that for the money it,s worth it. Unless you really have need for and the money to spend on the iPad Pro models. It may replace a laptop but it comes pretty closet.
I’m really leaning towards the air 3. I use iPad 6 with Apple Pencil. I am an iPad only user. I use the iPad for work as an ABA therapist for autistic children as well as for school. 32 gb is pushing it. I have about 10gb. I really want a bigger screen. Checking out the air 3 at the Apple store it is definitely bigger but the 7 is marginally bigger so the air 3 is better there. The Smart Keyboard is definitely needed, I need the smallest and lightest possible setup for work. The iPad 7 price is really enticing. Is the 7 really worth it? The iPad 6 screen leaves me wanting.
I recently got an iPad 10.2 and I must say it is one heck of a device for day to day work(unless you want to edit photos and videos). Multitasking is good. The air is pretty good too. For school it is amazing with the keyboard. But the iPad 10.2

The air gap on ipad 10.2 bothers me a lot. In my opinion ipad air 2019 is better choice. Buy ipad 10.2 only if you are having tight budget.

Air 3 is better. Very disapointed with the air 4 because apple removed the headphone jack on the air 4. I like the air 3 better.

Isn't it better to buy the iPad accessories for 7th generation rather than spending more on air. All companies, would keep some usp for all their products, they can't make the same product with exactly same features. But in this case, the differences aren't very huge. And dosen't seem worth the money, memory can be expanded and we could even put a glass protection on the 7th gen. Why to waste money?

Imho what isn't emphasized enough in this vid is the extremely limited 32GB storage on the iPad 2019 basemodel. Next step (128GB) brings you very close to the Air (64GB), price wise.

How does the 10.2 Perform for photoshop (and illustrator draw if you've used it) or any other drawing apps? Now that you've had some time to get a good feel for it.
@@klorissawofford6430 I haven't used Photoshop or Illustrator Draw on it. But I have used Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer, which are the competitor to the Adobe Photo and Illustrator. Both software seem very cool and don't cost that much. I haven't used these as much. You can probably find some videos on how they both work.
Nice review... Most people in the world are not going to use the expensive features.. I bought the Macbook pro touch bar one last year... I have only seen movies in that... So I decided I won't be splurging that much again on tech stuff I don't even know. So budget iPad is the best choice
So.... the Air 3 is the best non Pro model. It's pretty damn powerful with great battery life.

I had some trouble with my iPad Air 2 recently, the battery seemed to not be charging or draining fast (I think the battery is fine now!) but anyway I ordered a new iPad Air 3 through my phone carrier. The Air was actually cheaper than the iPad 7th gen. They were doing some promotion so I got the only remaining colour left, gold. Not my favourite but it will be in a case all the time anyway. I also went for the 256Gb model as it was only an extra $3 a month over 3 years. Ended up being $36 Australian per month over 3 years. Going to have to see which of my relatives want a hand me down ipad...

You can get the iPad Air 3 on amazon refurbished for 380$. WIth double the capacity, and better and bigger screen and faster processor well worth the 50$
Ipad 7th gen A10 processor is a potato in 2020. So I bought Air 3 (256 GB). It should get me at least 2 years with no issues. Later I would buy a pro 2021/22..
