Eventually that gem pulled a rose quartz and gave birth to a human-gem hybrid. Over the millennia the gem was just kind of bred out so all we get are some small residual powers from long ago (like Steven not growing unless he felt like it)
Maybe that's why Onion didn't change AT ALL after the two year time skip, snakes shed their skin as they grow. Maybe Onion needs to shed and then he'll look older, tho I'm probably wrong.

A screen cap of a scene during the "Do It For Her/Him" song shows Pearl protecting Rose from an unknown entity. Since we now know that Rose is Pink Diamond, what could Pearl be protecting her from (is it something that's stronger than a diamond?) or maybe Pearl didn't know about the whole "Pink Diamond being Rose" thing and it's from a time before she found out. It would be cool for that scene to appear again.

No, it's not. I personally like to believe that "Single Pale Rose" intentionally made us think that she is PD's Pearl. I strongly agree with the theory that she is a gift from other diamonds (to help her mature or whatever). Peridot and that green lawyer person are very over confident and full of themselves and if blue and yellow fused they would be green and most likely over confident (as a few theories state) like sugilite and the green gems

No, it's not. I personally like to believe that "Single Pale Rose" intentionally made us think that she is PD's Pearl. I strongly agree with the theory that she is a gift from other diamonds (to help her mature or whatever). That is shown in her color scheme and the fact that her gem is placed on her head, just like WD.
I really wouldn't be surprised at this point. Yellowtail and Onion are the only ones that look completely different than everyone else but the gems

I mean Ronaldo has always been right, the Diamonds are leading the gems against something, and sneeple would be really weird compared to regular humans.
Every time we see Onion he's doing something weird, and creates dissonance between him and other humans. And as we learn more about Onion and grow his character we are given more ways to connect the two and their parallels.

Exactly what I thought!! Also when Aquamarine was looking for "my Dad" and they speculated if she could actually have a Dad they said there is no one else like Steven out there and Connie was like "are you sure? you exist so it's not impossible" . That always stayed with me. I first thought it was more referring to another half-gem/half-human .. but actually when I thought about Onion I thought maybe it was foreshadowing to another HYBRID being out there.
