I love how Nissan/Infiniti flexed on the QX80/Patrol/Armada to show they still have the ability to build solid products. We all know their budget is way less than Toyotas, and I can see some minor areas where they could take things a little further, but overall I agree they built a much better body-on-frame luxury cruiser. Nissan has a lot of the blame for what’s happened to Infiniti they’ve waited too long to update the tech and kept on changing their models name too often. Interesting review! I have the LX 570, and plan to keep it. The new LX I suppose is targeted more for durability and off road aka Land Cruiser, the QX targeted straight for luxury, ride, the Escalade, GLS market… Give Infinity credit for going all in on the redesign.
I'm glad to see Nissan/Infiniti make such a great vehicle. Watching them flounder for the last 25 yrs or so has been painful. I took a risk and bought a gorgeous black '18 Q50RS a little over 5 yrs ago and while it was a great car in some ways, it was ultimately a let-down because it just wasn't as good as it could have been. So much potential but poor execution. It was mostly disappointing because I knew Nissan could have done better with it. I spent many hours at the Infiniti dealership thanks to the multiple issues I had with the car over a 3 yr period, and it led me to conclude Infiniti needed a lot of help if they were going to survive. None of their cars felt "special" in any way, just slightly nicer versions of their Nissan counterparts. It seems the new QX80 is a home run, and I hope it foreshadows things to come. They are the underdog. Here's hoping this turns into a comeback story.
As someone who loves the Lexus brand, i must admit that i was not impressed with my 24 LX600 F-Sport. It was too small for a fullsize (knew that going in), and for a vehicle that was priced around $115k it didn't offer the amenities my 24 fullsize Range Rover. I ended up trading my 24 Lexus for a 25 BMW X7 M60i after owning the lexus for less than 5 months.

David, do you think it was a big mistake to go with a twin turbo seeing all the issues with Toyota's twin turbos. I fear for longevity and reliability, especially after the warranty expires. Especially on a 100k plus purchase. I have a QX60 2023 Sensory and love it. Was sad to see Infiniti drop the six in that model. Was hoping they keep the 5.6 V8.
I agree and like the QX more. However, I will likely get the LX600 mainly due to the resale value. I own a 2021 LX570 with 20K miles and it is still worth around $70 on a trade. Other brands in this segment would lose way more value after a few years. MSRP was around $91K.
I am in a lease for a QX 80 right now, but I would never buy it, I would buy the LX for the exact same reason the resale value on a Toyota product is just insane, not worth buying used, but absolutely worth buying you
Lexus LX600 for me. I am not one for that type of screen layout in front of me interior wise. I really love ❤ both the Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX designs. And nothing beats TOYOTA reliability, resale values and heritage. That said, great effort from Nissan with this Infinity. Looks great and the interior packaging is spot on. This new QX design will unfortunately not age well. Cars that look too generic and over designed don't normally age well.
Lets see. Patrol (armada/qx80) been making heavy duty vehicles since 1950s just like land cruiser. Resale means nothing to hardcore users who will ride these cars for decades until the wheel falls off. Reputation means nothing if current rides have reliability issues like the 2022+ Toyota trucks/suv. Nissan makes Japan's top performance engines especially involving their 3.5L V6 that been in production cars since 2001 and their V6TT in production since 2007 on the R35 GTRs selling well into 6 figures. Since 2022, Toyota going down in reliability while Nissan is going up despite Toyota having 10x the advertisement and RD budget. But Toyota taking short cuts as well to save on costs and increase profit margin. Not to mention the LX600 will be more unreliable than GX550 or the Armada/QX80 just for the fact you put a small V6 + add turbos + add hybrdige battery. Way too much going on. THe GX550 > LX600 despite costing half the price, has more ground clearance, more towing with same enginer/transmission/offroad goodies and virtually same interior space.
Quick question- I was thinking to buy a 24 sequoia TRD pro but just now I say the launch of Nissan armada/patrol pro 4x , I’ll be using this vehicle for 80% long distance driving and 20% off-roading (not rock crawling) . I’m aware this is early to say anything about Nissan but based on the specs do you have any opinion ?
Armada Pro 4x > Sequiora TRD Pro due to being made in Japan vs Texas, bigger interior with proper adult oriented 3rd row seat and most important for off roading: proper full time 4wd (like Land Cruiser, GX/LX suvs from Toyota). If you want proper 2 row off roader luxury suv, get GX550 OT but if you want 3 row luxury off road suv from Japan, get the 25 Armada Pro 4x with Nissan GTR engineered V6TT engine, made in same factory that makes Nissan GTRs.

The question I have is what has Infiniti compromised to accomplish this feat? There must be a catch somewhere. If not, I will be trading in my LX 570. But Infiniti being Infiniti, I am wary.
It must have a hybrid drivetrain or no can do, same for the Lexus. I have a 2023 ES300h with the fourth-generation hybrid drivetrain and it is the bomb, with great performance, excellent MPG, and no turbo. The fifth-generation hybrid is even better, like in the 2025 all-wheel drive Camry with its two electric motors and a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle engine.
The biggest hurdle for Infiniti right now is brand perception. Word needs to spread about the exceptional build quality.
The only reason the old QX80 had bad resale value was because it was so similar to the Armada.
