Little Piggy was cute . . . really showed a lot of tips for lathe work too! Sanding with Oil is an idea worth trying.

Not really my thing, Mike, but your enthusiasm and great explanation makes me think this could be a cool gift item at Christmas. Great video!

Cute Pig Mike. You forgot to use the nice wee cove tool again. Would have been ideal for the nose detail:-) Regards wet sanding I use a soft paste wax I make up myself from pure beeswax and mineral oil mixed. Produces a great finish on all woods.

I guess I have too many tools! Wait, that can't be right! I need to mix me up some of that MO and beewax.

Mike, that spindle gouge looks just like a small bowl gouge. Mine isn’t swept back like that. Am I missing something?

    • @MikePeaceWoodturning

I used two different gouges, a 3/8 Thompson detail gouge with shallow flute and swept back grind that makes it great for getting into small places. The other was a 1/2" Sorby spindle gouge with a more blunt nose for heavier cuts.

Mike Peace Woodturning ..Thanks Mike. I just order my first DT 3/4 V bowl gouge. Looking forward to trying the Doug Thompson tool.
