Cute Pig Mike. You forgot to use the nice wee cove tool again. Would have been ideal for the nose detail:-) Regards wet sanding I use a soft paste wax I make up myself from pure beeswax and mineral oil mixed. Produces a great finish on all woods.
I used two different gouges, a 3/8 Thompson detail gouge with shallow flute and swept back grind that makes it great for getting into small places. The other was a 1/2" Sorby spindle gouge with a more blunt nose for heavier cuts.
Little Piggy was cute . . . really showed a lot of tips for lathe work too! Sanding with Oil is an idea worth trying.
What a great project Mike, nicely done my friend.
Cheers
Mike

Mike, that spindle gouge looks just like a small bowl gouge. Mine isn’t swept back like that. Am I missing something?
