- Wood turning a cute dog with a bit of a difference, using Iroko for the body walnut for the nose and Sycamore for its ears. This is a simple wood working project for beginners and more experienced wood turners.
I hope this tutorial will guide you through the steps as how to make this.
I try to use this woodturning channel as a platform to share ideas, and to demonstrate to other wood workers the steps needed to achieve this.
I use many different types of wood in varying combinations, as well as combining this with resins, i tend to use glass cast 50 as i can use this without the need of a pressure pot.
For my finishes I use things like Wood dyes spirit based and water based, high gloss wax and
Boiled Linseed Oil - Danish oil and hard wax oil. I also like to experiment with differing textures to give my bowls a different feel to them
For my actual wood turning i use a galaxy DVR lathe 14 44 which is very versatile, which gives me the ability to turn a 14-inch bowl or spindle length of 44-inchs
Thank you very much for watching my channel and please feel free to leave comments below. - บันเทิง
He is so cute :) I love the ears!!!

Bonsoir !
Wonderful project. I'll have to have a go at turning a dog. Thank you
Please let me know how you get on with it, My Grand daughters just love these
Super. Thanks for sharing. A fun project.
Someone quite infamous once said "can you see what it is yet?" - it kept us intrigued right to the final dog was shown! Love it - a great little project 🙂
Thank you Chris /Pete, there is probably about 3 generations out there who have no idea what you're talking about
the last time that guy heard " can you see what it is yet" ,, it was a pair of hand cuffs
Super chien.

Very well turned and you achieved a lovely finish... great video too..
Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
Hi Andy, not a problem at all, I think that's what You tube is all about, the sharing of ideas.
Look forward to seeing your dog, could i just point out my names Steve not john
@@thehampshirewoodturner thanks Steve
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh that really is fantastic ,, what other breeds can you do ???
i could quite easily manage a schnauzer, or a great Dane, dachshund, corgi, collie or Afghan hound, there are no boundaries to my canine capabilities
@@thehampshirewoodturner can you do a Komondor
@@stuarthowell2510 don't they sing with Lionel Richie
Just a really great piece. Where did you get the eyes. Thanks for sharing. Hope to see you on the next one
Hi Albert, thanks, I only got them off the internet i think they were just called goggle eyes, but because the wood is curved, they didn't stick that well and had to super glue them, i think if i did another one i would paint them on
Glad I found your channel, great stuff! Subscribed and looking forward to working my way thru your other projects...
Thanks for the sub Chris, don't go back too far through the videos as some of the early ones are a bit dire. LOL
@@thehampshirewoodturner Recently found my very first bowl at my mother's - the bottom is a good 1½" thick good grief! Nice to know that progress is being made...
Love this video and the dog! I am a new turner and would love to try one. Would it be possible for you to post the diameters of the various parts on the body and the head? Thanks again for a great video 👍🤠
Hi Randy glad you enjoyed the video, I'm really sorry but the dog has gone already, I do remember the base was turned out of a piece of Iroko which was around 90mm square and around 120mm long, all you have to remember is that dogs come in all shapes and sizes, Please let me know how you get on
@@thehampshirewoodturner that’s okay ….. I just stopped the video and used the chuck as a rough sizing tool 🤠
@@randyrockwell6136 Very clever with ingenuity like that you will go far, lol
BONSOIR, pouvez-vous me dire quelles sont les proportions de votre superbe petit chien, car j'aimerais faire le même? Merci à vous et bonne continuation
Can you make me one pleeeeeese
