There’s nothing wrong to tell what you observed and how you feel about the differences between these two countries sometimes they say something bad about the Philippines. Thais are Buddhists and have weaker morals. They believe in karma, and when you fall into poverty or sickness, they will blame you because of your supposed past sins. The only Christian county in Asia, so we therefore are God fearing I'm not preaching on religion but that's what we are. Those girls you see walking in the streets of Metro Manila whether high earners or not, are churchgoers on Sundays. We're family oriented, a Filipina who's into you will bring you to meet her family so you will come to know her better that's the time you can say yes to a relationship. There are beautiful, wonderful women all over the globe. Yeah, other countries have some advantages. Maybe the Thai or Vietnamese infrastructure is superior, etc. But the biggest thing is your mate, and the language barrier and culture are huge. I think if you're looking for a girl, play the odds and stay away from westerners. And in Asia, because of past history and having had some American influence (but not too much) and speaking English at least reasonably well if not extremely well, the Philippines has to be tops. I lucked out, I wasn't even looking and met a Filipina. Married almost 7 years now, 2 kids. Did a K-1, we're in the US, goal now is to get outta here as soon as possible and get her back home. Best thing for all of us. But will be a while yet, waiting to retire early with a pension.

Thailand still has a pretty large advantage when it comes to cost of living and luxury amenities. The places I have been looking at in Jomtien for under a grand have ocean views, infinity pools, weight rooms, granite counters etc. To get anything comparable in BGC would be twice as much. Food, infrastructure, women are all separate arguments so it just boils down to what is most important to you.

I think a more appropriate comparison for BGC would be Bangkok for having financial districts, big urban centers, and generally choices rather than for seaside views and villas that you mentioned. Places in Phils like Dumaguete, Cebu, Palawan and Boracay I think would be better comparisons for Jomtien and Pataya though

I saw the previous Thailand/Philippines video. I get that you prefer the Philippines to Thailand and there are some definite pluses to the Philippines. I don’t think you are a Thailand hater. As a 67 year old American, married to a 42 year old Thai woman, I will tell the rest of you older pensioners that Thailand offers plenty of opportunities for normal happy marriages. I am living in Thailand, 6 years in Bangkok and now in an Isaan farming village. I know dozens of happy couples and there are of course many thousands throughout Thailand. There is no shortage of stories of people that have crashed and burned in Thailand as there are plenty that came to both Thailand or the Philippines because they crashed and burned in relationships in the US or Europe. Some people just carry their own unfortunate baggage wherever they go. The sad stories out of Pattaya don’t represent the rest of Thailand or the thousands of genuine and successful westerner/Thai marriages and relationships. Plenty of stories of failed relationships out of the Philippines as well. All these stories make for clickable TH-cam entertainment. There are opportunities in both countries. Thailand and the Philippines have some significant cultural differences. Just decide which you prefer and don’t listen to sweeping judgments about any country.

@@JasperinthePhilippines That is only partially true. Most of the older expats I know here in Thailand retired from jobs that stationed them in Thailand, oil companies. I know a few who met their Thai wives in their home countries and retired to their wife’s Thai village because they like Thailand and the lower cost of living. I know a guy working for the US Justice Department in the US embassy, who has a Filipina wife, who will retire to Thailand next year. There are all kinds of expats here outside the red light districts. I am not denying that there are guys who come here to monger but that is by no means the whole story. I guess a person’s perspective depends on who you hang out with and where.
