Learn tagalog is a must yes they speak English but some play dumb and speak tagalog to try and get over on you

    same here. NEVER loan someone unless you are very close to that someone and has a reputation for paying back.

    • @JasperinthePhilippines
      @JasperinthePhilippines  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nobody will ever need a loan unless they’re waiting on an inheritance or a settlement. That would be the only reason that someone would need a loan that had the ability to pay it back. You’ll never get the money back a lot of times you lose the friendship over the money, or they ask for more money, after failing to pay you back by the deadline, and never mentioned again.

    Add.
    Have native Filipinos you trust accompany you often. (Luckily, I know some in every trip to The Philippines 🇵🇭. )
    Do not dress like you have money. Poor people and scammers will approach foreigners who disregard this advice.
    Do not show that you hate food. Just eat some of the food. Stuff yourself with drinks or other food. Also note, in China 🇨🇳 and in Chinese restaurants, leaving food on your plate 🍽 means that you are full! 🤯 This is different etiquette than in Western nations.
    Taxis 🚕 will rip you off, especially if you do not tell them to turn on the meter.
    In karaoke 🎤, never pick My Way. Men were murdered for singing that song poorly. 💀 Related. You can sing the Bon Jovi-Max Martin song It's My Life. My Life is referenced in the song and is a different song. You will simply be ridiculed if you are off-key in that song! 😃

    Great Video Jasper!!!! I just decided that my Filipino name is going to be Bond … Jasper Bond😂😂😂 …. Everything you just advised applies even more so here in the DR. The only person allowed in my apartment is my cat and my cleaning gal. When my cleaning gal comes to clean I make sure that I have my extra phones, wallet, credit cards, cash etc etc locked in me safe and I make sure that my safe keys are taped to my body with several layers of tape covering an ace bandage and of course I never leave while she is here. In this country if you take a cab you are asking to be robbed. You can’t even take Uber in the DR because they will rip you off. I’ve been here long enough that everyone knows where I live. I was having showing up at my door at 2:00am that I didn’t even know so I solved that problem by getting a dog that goes ape shit whenever a stranger enters the property. Everyone knows my name but when I move to the Philippines I will be “Bond … Jasper Bond” I absolutely never tell anyone how much money I have and I always wear the same clothes pretty much every day. Shorts, T-Shirt, and converse. Why converse instead of sandals? Because if someone tries to pick pocket me and then run, I can run faster wearing converse in order to catch them and beat their ass. It’s easier to fight wearing converse than it is wearing sandals. I do gift people money every now and then but only if they tell me that they are hungry. Otherwise when someone asks me for money I tell them that I only have a credit card and no cash. BTW when I do go out, I never carry more than 2,000 pesos on me which = $43 dollars. The Philippines is nowhere as bad as it is in the DR. In the Philippines I would guess that 65 to 80% of the people are honest. In the DR less than 10% are honest and 100% of the ones who I have met who are honest are called Jehovah’s Witnesses.

    Yeah bro, this is straight up really good advice. One thing I'll add is be careful if you stay in any old, cheap hotels. I was trying to take a nap in a hotel in Manila one afternoon and all of a sudden woke up briefly and out of the corner of my eye noticed the electrical cord to the A/C unit was starting to smoke and burn. Whole room coulda burned down with me in it. Went to the hotel desk to report and the lady is like , okk salamat we will call the electrician. Close call.

    that's very true Jasper, as a local we don't give our house address unless you are a business colleague and you have a business room for a meeting, otherwise meet outside, for the Taxi, you are right, I also don't advise and even us we hardly use a taxi, unless you are in Baguio, first meet up, NEVER we NEVER bring our first meet up to our condo or house, even if that person is drunk, and find him a ride go with him if necessary to his house so that he can be safe and then leave him to his family, NEVER use thousands only use hundred and smaller coins and bills, for a palengke, never bargain from a higher amount, always ask them of how much the price, and ask for a hundred lower or 50 lower,

      @@JasperinthePhilippines yes my first and only apartment I had was nothing the brag about was 15 years ago cost $150 bucks us. Two rooms bedroom and kitchen CR and living room combo. My wife was happy she was living in a boarding house in the city and her mom was living in a small small nippa hut. We did build a decent house that is now in my wife's name lot and house. Since her mom died 3 months ago yesterday. So there was no reason to bring anyone to my apartment. I did take my grandfather to see my apartment he really wanted to see how I was living in and amongst the people. He was impressed course he lived very simple as a child.

      @PhillyWilly in the Philippines yes I would have done the same too. My first LDR in Butuan got a little possessive when I called if off with her. The next morning when I opened the door to go eat breakfast she was waiting outside my door. Very awkward. She started claiming she was having dreams that certain people in my family were going to die if we didn't get back together. I don't know why the resort allowed her past the front desk. I left the island and went to cebu and my problems and drama disappeared.

    • @GAMMASP8
      @GAMMASP8 ปีที่แล้ว

      @PhillyWilly in the Philippines one thing I caught right at first. When they give you their password to their email so that you can see they are not chatting with someone else. Well I knew that don't prove nothing but I know they was doing that so that to show your loyalty you would share your password. I knew that. So after I left her island I also changed my email I was using over there. She got my email with in a few days. Changed it again. Two days she got it again. I contacted a guy I met who's girlfriend was friend's of this LTR. I asked have you shared you password on your email with your gf? He said yes how did you know that. Then I Blocked him.

    • @JasperinthePhilippines
      @JasperinthePhilippines  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I wouldn’t ever do that because they could say you heard them wrong and say it’s 1300 and then it’s just not worth it it’s just not necessary it’s not tracked I wouldn’t do it unless I absolutely had to and I’m sure it would be fine, but my advice to new guys coming in with a bunch of cash and stuff and you know that shitty cab drivers try to get me to ride with them at Manila. AirPort Maybe they want to rob me. They were definitely trying to overcharge me. It’s just not necessary unless you’re desperate and like your phones dead or something

    #1 Never Marry or Date a girl that is poor or YOU will be supporting Her and Her Entire Family Indefinitely. Instead, Date/Marry a girl that is an "Asset" (is educated, has a well paid job, etc.,)
    #2 Never build a House and put in under a Filipino's name or you can kiss Your House Goodbye!
    #3 Never be "Too Kind" with people or they will see this as Your Weakness and take advantage of You.
    #4 Never Believe all the LIES about how" Filipinas are God's Gift to Men". Instead come to realize that Filipinas have flaws just like other women from around the world.
    #5 Never, EVER "Let Your Guard Down" around Filipinos and other Foreigners because they can easily screw You over when you least expect it. Instead, Stay Sharp and Alert and "Trust No One."

    1. My favorite response when women or anyone asks me personal questions, "That's personal information I cannot reveal at this time" 🤣 Her place is always the best option. 2. If she lives with family then Hotel. 3. Money, unless you are giving it to them as a gift do not lend. Even family are sometimes the worse they will assume they money you let them borrow is theirs and will not fully pay you back. 4. As far as bringing a Filipina back to the house. If you have known her a few weeks, met her family, then yes I would have her over. Don't let her move in! They will try. Only after a 1 year relationship then maybe. I would also have an indoor camera just in case I get accused falsely of any wrong doings . Jasper my boy, I appreciate the points of reality you make especially for these young men that get blinded by Pu**y. Always keep your options open. That beautiful woman you just met is nothing special. She Sh*ts just like you do. Don't be blinded by lust. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to hearing you on the next live.

      Yeah bro exactly like I get it that we’re all gonna end up having these girls over but we don’t need to do it within 15 minutes of meeting them and then every girl that I’ve had come over basically doesn’t wanna leave. I basically have to say all right now sweetie it’s time to go. Gotta get some rest are all the meat like yeah like girls don’t ever wanna leave when they come over to any of my places whether it’s my little Boracay place or this place & ya basically the stuff seems like common sense but when you’re an excited guy that just went from a four to a nine yeah no, you could find yourself in a world of hurt. Just you know take it easy and enjoy the attention. But yeah, this is perfect advice for newbies. Obviously most of us know better but yeah. For sure bro I’ll see you in the next live.

    It still bothers me that men do this stuff when going abroad. Being friends with anyone will always be what I do first in anything. Never give in to anyone’s demands. If a pina is actually traditonal she should never ask for money unless your living together and married. People who always expect too much don’t deserve us men and never will 🙏

    I have an alternative thought about lending money. I agree to what you said, but if you are in a relationship with a Philippina and her brother, uncle or something is a pain in the a** and you can nver get rid of him: give him a reasonably big loan (for the Philippines) but make it very clear that you expect to get the money payed back the next time he sees you. You will never get the money back, but you will probably not have to see that guy for the next five years.
    For me it was very well spent money! :)

    This is same things we would always tell the new people upon arriving and getting acclimated. On the never loan money, want to say ESPECIALLY family of your significant other. If you feel guilty or they have legit reason to ask (fire, flood, typhoon) then give it as a gift, like you said what you feel you can afford, and NEVER EVER expect it back. And if you do, for heaven's sake don't ask them for it, you just begging for trouble.

      My exe's brother died at the age of 29 after a one week illness. To this day I feel some guilt that maybe he didn't want to ask my ex for some money from me for treatment, and that choice ended up being a fatal one.
      It didn't help that my ex sent me a photo of his brother on the hospital mortuary slab. I ended up sending a very large donation for the funeral expenses. I sometimes think his brother died because my ex knew and I knew that a "sick relative" request for money for medicine or a hospital stay was a well-known con leveled against ex-pats.
      A relationship with a Filipino means you'll have to make some serious moral decisions, sooner or later, regarding how you spend your money. Just saying "no" all the time doesn't cut it for me. If I marry a fellow native of my own country I would certainly be willing to help her family if one of them was dying from cancer and couldn't afford to buy their pain medication.
      Saying "No" (or "yes") can quickly become a moral tug-of-war between your wallet, your relationship and your conscience. If an expat is just out to get laid then he has no worries. Many expats however, come to The Philippines for a life partner. They better think about how they'll deal with the minefields that await them! This also pertains to the online expats.

    I am going to make one more comment then I am going to get out of here. Feel like I am hogging up the comments. The word borrow or lend 99 percent of the time in the Philippines is a way for Filipinos to save face. They don't want to say. Can you give me. Which would be a more honest a statement. But that is not the way it works there in the Philippines. So when someone says lend me think give me.

    • @JasperinthePhilippines
      @JasperinthePhilippines  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that’s how it works in the United States. I did pretty good in the United States and people are always coming to me to borrow money but they would literally say let me borrow $200 for 48 hours. They wouldn’t pay me back and then a month later that hit me up for more money and I’d be like what the f. But yeah, I’m sure even more so in the Philippines, since it’s less fortunate than the good old United States, but yeah, at the end of the day there’s no such thing as alone unless somebody’s receiving an inheritance or a settlement that’s for sure there would never be the ability to pay back a loan if you’re that type of person that’s down that bad

      I have worked for loan companies in the USA many years. I was aways taking people to court for non payment not one of those judgements were paid. When you are dealing with people who don't have anything you can't get anything. I also own a martial arts academy today. People get behind, people stop training. I don't take people to court unless I have to get them out of a rental unit. (Parents own rental properties) Then I have no choice. Many times I say to myself. If they can live with it I can live without it. I release the negativity and then something positive happens.

      This is so true! If anyone from my relatives would borrow money from me, I’d only give what i can risk..if they will not pay me back (which happens a 100%) i just think that it is a help, charity 😅..for friends, i could never think of their debts as donation. If they say “borrow”, they should pay it. But how to collect 4k usd? It has been 5yrs since they promised to pay me 😂..they would think i forgot about it.

      @@doobieatenara7649 when I first met my wife's family I was surprised at how many lola and Lolo (grandmother as grandfather) she had. But I soon learned that the great uncles and great aunts could be referred the same way. I was never asked for money but I enjoyed having and sharing a red horse with my wife's distant relatives. Or buy some bread that I would leave at family home. One time I was enjoying a red horse with a favorite great uncle who was a son of a German soldier. And about the time I finished my wife showed up on the back on her father's motorcycle. She got off told me time to come home. Evidently I was outed by the Bamboo Telegram. One sad thing about moving to the Philippines.. You are always considered a visitor. Just image if in the USA we treated everyone that wasn't a US citizen as "Your just a visitor here" big difference in respect and culture for sure... However, the Philippines welcomes our Navy and Marines ..along with all the $$$ and aid we send to the country.. But were just a visitor there.. So just shut up and mind your own business..You are just a visitor here... If the US turned it's back on the Philippines... China would move right in..
