  • After a week on vacation, I was eager to get back to the garden but one of the wettest rainstorms we’d ever experienced kept us inside. During a weather break, I went to check on everything in the garden. This is essentially another May garden tour, just after the vacation.

After time away from the garden, it looks pretty good. You have a very pleasant and kind voice.

Hooray for how well the garden did. Enjoy your rest from the trip. I have a bed a potatoes almost ready to harvest - yay. My area is the same as yours, everything wrapped in plastic 😢

Horse tail can be used to scrub pans! Its a prehistoric relic full of silica!

I will have to do some research on that. Sounds intriguing!

Hi Kate! If I remember correctly someone told me years ago to rub mint leaves on your skin to repell mosquitoes from biting. I've never tried it as I don't grow mint but hope it works if you try it. Your garden looks good! Enjoy your rest. 😊

Mint I do have a lot of, so that is worth a try. I guess it is time to visit the chickens and harvest some mint. I've been meaning to do that anyway to dry for tea, so might as well ;) I hear cedar helps a lot, too. But we don't have cedar here, so I can't try it.

I don’t know the German name of the plant at 1:10 but the Latin name is Growus Alotus Everywherium.

1:11 Queen anne's lace? if so, there'll be no growing carrot seed!

Why no carrots? I pulled the plant, so it is definitely not there anymore.

@@RootsandCalluses carrots you can grow. But if you try to grow them out to seed, they will cross with queen Anne's lace in the area. Where there's one plant, there's more.

@ecocentrichomestead6783 aaah, that makes sense. Thanks! I will check if there are any more to ID it properly.
