Hi, Kindred Spirits! In today's video, I go through five of my vintage Farm Journal Cookbooks. This is a soft-spoken, rambling video meant to soothe you to sleep.
I got so tickled last night after I recorded this because my video reminded me of a Saturday Night Live skit with Adam Sandler and Chris Farley.

I loved this! I love cookbooks and history, I have a small collection of cookbooks made by groups (volunteers, churches, fundraisers) and I love those. I follow Mama Sue’s kitchen and I started making her Pig Picking Good cake - everyone loves it (an orange vanilla cake with a pineapple whipped cream frosting, have you ever heard of it?
This video was exactly what I needed today

I keep catching your uploads at busy times so your last couple I've had in waiting. This one was longer so I saved it and I'm glad I did - I had it on while I baked homemade pop tarts this morning - so thank you for the company!
My Nana had a friend who always made those mashed potato candies (with the chocolate) and boy would I gobble them up! I nearly forgot about them until today, so thank you for reminding me of such fond (and tasty) childhood memories!

Finally got around to watching this and it's so wonderful!! I love longer videos like this that you can really sink into. And this was such rich fascinating content. Those pancakes sound awesome. And to have heard the history of this and the lady who was doing the recipes was so interesting. What a character she must have been. I'd love to hear more about the time in your life when you talking about your homesteading leanings and your husband's wanting to work. How great you blended it all !

My Great Grandma is from eastern Kentucky too, a small town called Olive Hill. She made the potato candy and the stained glass window cookies when I was little.

Lindy, I so enjoyed the video. I love collecting cookbooks. And love reading them especially when a family gets together and put together their old family recipe’s. It was very soothing and relaxing and I always am so happy when you pop up with a new vlog. I loved that this was longer it really is relaxing. It calms you down where you truly make it to that at peace ☮️ state of mind. I always know you’ll have something good to say something different than usual. Thank you for all your work that you do. You’re a blessing the little angel from North Carolina❤ Love and hugs from Nj! My rash has not budged at all. It’s Starting to really scare me. My diet is I would say really fairly good and don’t eat out due to this. I don’t eat any junk food.I don’t eat any processed food. I don’t I don’t know what to do tomorrow is Monday I don’t know if I should go to the hospital or back to the Dr. who hasn’t really helped me, but has followed protocol of what to do. I’m truly loss and I’m telling you putting me in the deepest depression. It can ruin your life since anything like I am wondering if I have an autoimmune disease. I don’t know.

Again, I had to laugh out loud when you said you wanted to be a homesteader and your husbandhe was going to work and keep his job. He wasn’t going to be a farmer lol❤ I laughed so hard on that. I was praying my rashes displeased of my face.
One more question the live Vlog that you did that I missed where you were showing things from Mahel I think did you record that if you did could you possibly upload it usually I see them uploaded and they stay on so people who missed it can see it just a question. I was wondering I don’t know if you did record it or not but I thought I would ask because I was so disappointed that I missed it anyway anyway, have a great dinner today. It’s always great to get a note from you. And I’m so so sorry that you’re still having issues with your skin! I’m not sure what to tell you. A functional medicine doctor helped me. Maybe if you have one in your area you could talk to them? I know it’s difficult though when you have to keep throwing money at something that you’re not sure will work. I’m going to say a prayer that you find relief quickly! I know it’s so very frustrating.

I ❤ your candy cookbook it's sweet. Divinity is one of my favorites . Also I do love peanut butter fudge. Also have you ever had Mississippi Mudpie? My great grandmother used to make panfuls of that stuff. I was immediately addicted.

I believe malt-o-meal is a hot breakfast cereal. I loved malted milk powder (chocolate) when I was a kid! Do they still sell it? The Farm Journal cookbook recipes sound delicious!
