    "This isn't a service that really exists." And guys, I don't think it should be. No one should do this type of cleaning unless they choose it or love it. Get mental health help and try to reach out for support so that your home doesn't reach this point. What Mack and other channels do is triage care for people and homes that desperately need it. The best time to get help is Now! Reaching out to Mack is lovely but try to reach out to people and resources within your local community 💜

    • @RueKitty
      @RueKitty 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +107

      not everybody has the resources to get mental health help... sometimes these situations are also due to a physical disability and they dont have friends or family to help and dont have the money to hire cleaners. not to mention the shame that holds a lot of these people back from asking for help, then they may feel hopeless and adapt to it until theyre forced out of it or can find help like this. if only mental health help was more accessible v.v

    • @peppermintea420
      @peppermintea420 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +40

      @@RueKitty I completely agree that it's not always accessible to get help and that's often tragic. My reminder would be that the systems we have are mostly broken, so looking outside of that for help is Ok, it just doesn't always occur to us initially. Talking to neighbors or doing something nice for a person in the local community could set you on a path to recovery. These are acts that purposely fight the isolation that depression and burn out can impose. Avoiding the worst outcomes of mental unhealth is definitely a community care effort.

    • @RueKitty
      @RueKitty 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +45

      @@peppermintea420 yeah in a perfect world that would be great.. but sadly a lot of times people are looked down at for asking for help and local communities just wont care or be able to provide enough. and many people work too much, have social anxiety, physical restrictions, or lack resources like being able to drive, money, etc. and it being the digital age, making friends and connections is harder than ever. also public spaces are decreasing. the general mental health is getting worse so i think these kinds of messes and hoarding issues will only increase... its quite sad :c not sure theres much we can do about it but services like these can be life savers, its great seeing people want to help others

    • @peppermintea420
      @peppermintea420 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

      @@RueKitty you are correct that social issues play a huge role. That's why I think it's the responsibility of all community members to address these kinds of things. I have the same kinds of struggles so I know how important community involvement is, although it can be difficult to access. We have to fight for that access and we should.

    I guess I was married to the most tidy alcoholic in the world. For 40 years, he kept the home in order because I was a workaholic. Beside the alcohol, he was the nicest person you could ever meet. Everyone loved him. He was kind and gentle. Sadly he passed with cancer at 57.

    I have spoken to psychiatric doctors, therapists and nurses with advance degrees and none of them have been able to explain the mental challenges that some people face as thoroughly as you can. I often show these videos to friends who have family members with mental challenges. I have been told it helps them to understand not just what's going on but how NOT to make the situation worse for the person they are worried about.

      I cannot fathom the smell that must’ve been in that house and what spurred that thought was the crap in the kitchen and all those years old, mostly empty, beer cans! Beer cans (especially open and old) have a putrid smell and I can’t even imagine going near that bathroom! That you can’t even show the toilet tells us it was beyond 99.9 percent of the average person’s senses that’s why I would pass on seeing or going near it! I also enjoy everything you have to say regarding autism as my son is now 42 and has got that diagnosis. Trying to get him a job he can keep has been a nightmare for him and people DO NOT understand how autism affects a persons ability or disability. It’s been so hard for him. I wish I had sued the A-hole that delivered him but that’s another problem. I’m sorry your wife is sick and needs surgery! I don’t know how you handle everything but you sure do a fantastic job with great people-person skills! Thanks for the videos and your views on things. You are right on🎉 Best of luck for you always!!!😊

      Also, I absolutely LOVE your boundary setting! I too get asked all of the time, if I can clean someones house "like that". I admit, I was suckered into several major projects, where I left feeling used and manipulated. I like how you clarify that you only clean for people who need it, and cant do for themselves, on your terms, and also in your area. Thats perfect!

    My house was actually a lot like this, I wasn't a hoarder, I just couldn't motivate myself to take rubbish out and let it pile up, then I got depressed and developed a problem with alcohol and it got worse and worse. It was hard, but I stopped drinking and deep cleaned the house myself and I've now redecorated most of it, my ex partner was getting worse than I with her drinking and was using cocaine, and our son couldn't continue to live there, that is what motivated me in the end, he is now 5 and lives with me full time and while it isn't obsessively clean and tidy, there is no longer came and take out containers piled up, the walls and ceilings have been washed and had several coats of paint, bedrooms have been recaptured, got laminate or down in the hallway, upstairs landing and living room, organized the cupboards, put up curtains, blinds, shelving, decorations, kitchen and bathroom are sorted, I surprised myself, has taken the best part of a year and theirs still some flooring needs replaced, it's just the money to do it, was £900 to get the laminate done, and I'd put that off because of all the furniture that had to be moved, including a large fishtank, but it's done, just need a new carpet for my son's room, painting the trim orange to go with his blue walls because he lives Blippi, going to tile the bathroom and kitchen, replacing everything is soothing, my mental health has improved with the change and I want everything that reminds me of where I was at gone, clean and new. I've surprised myself with what I can do by myself, never thought the place could look so good!

      I was diagnosed with adhd at 43. I read all these checklists and just didn't think I had it enough for a diagnosis. TH-cam, podcasts etc, that's where you have the time to listen to various voices and go "that bit is me, that bit's not me" . And some concepts, you need to need to hear ten different people explain it and it clicks, and you understand the point that the previous nine people were making 😂
      I am so grateful for the privilege we have in being neurodivergent in this decade. Although a few stimulants and therapy 20 years ago might have made a few things easier!

    My wife did this exact thing when she discovered her grandpa and his pets living in a mess very similar to this. Eventually, her grandpa passed away from the alcoholism shortly after leaving the nursing home. The pets all had to be surrendered. She would come home every day for a summer and tell me about all the stuff she found - poop couch, pee bottles, dead animals. Her grandmother, mother, and herself cleaned everything and managed to sell the house. Seeing this video really puts what they went through into perspective. Thanks for everything you do. ❤

    Dang, I've never heard of autistic burnout but upon hearing what it was with 3 months or more I IMMEDIATELY recognized it for what I felt with my own content last year. Very similar to depression, just had to get away from it all, and it impacted my revenue severely. Thank you for mentioning that here and I hope you end up not suffering from it too harshly, lord knows it's tough enough being on the spectrum as it is.

      I relate to the autistic burnout as I'm AUDHD and it went into hell mode after my dad died.
      I'm opposite you in regards to content. I have 3 other channels (this is a generic account for viewing and commenting) that I've worked hard on for years. One is 2013 creation year and I've tried for a decade to make it work for gaming content and still have under 10k subs...so yeah I'm a failure at my dream job. And it often makes me feel like just quitting everything. People say just keep trying but they don't understand the reality of grinding and doing things right and still being ignored. I've hired the flashy editors to make the content look mainstream. I've had the nice looking thumbnails. I've put on the excitable attitude to entertain people. Dunno guess I'm just destined to be one of those people who doesn't get to win in life.
      You're blessed to have something take off in content creation. Congrats. You deserve it. I just wish the world didn't leave others in the dust no matter our efforts.

I worked in surgery, nursed injured and ailing animals and cleaned where most would not. As I always have said, "Youth is wasted on the young". My ex husband did this to our house after his alcoholism and mental illness finally led me to run for my life after 10 years. The floors were literally a sea of cans and bottles. Every surface was piled with dirty dishes, rotting food etc.
    Help was readily available yet his alcoholism wouldn't allow him to take it. He drank himself to death a few years later, died lying in the neighbors yard one morning with his fresh bag of beer from the store beside him.
    Most frustrating and heartbreaking thing I've ever witnessed.

    my dad has a hoarding problem (likely due to adhd and autism gone suppressed and unchecked) and i've always had to clean his houses ever since i was real little. it's never gotten to this point, but it gets pretty bad. house cleaning videos like this kinda give me the motivation to clean and try to get him help- or at the very least, a diagnosis.
    the fact that there's an autistic house cleaning channel out there makes me so so so happy you don't understand. i feel so... not alone anymore. not all your friends have hoarding problems and autism, y'know.
    i love the sarcasm and humor you sprinkle in. this is my first ever video i'm watching but i've literally fallen in love. i'm autistic too which kinda adds this like, "oh we're in the same kinda community and we can relate to similar things" layer onto it. i just wish my special interest was cleaning :')

    Sorry to hear your wife is ill. My father had brain surgery; the recovery went surprisingly quickly and smoothly. Hoping that’s how she finds it as well. The thing I’d like to know, vis-à-vis cleaning, is how to configure your environment for easy upkeep so that you can age gracefully without becoming some cleaning nightmare your kids have to deal with. In the meantime, you’ve been inspirational-during this video I’ve started bread, vacuumed, changed sheets, and washed the stuff in the sink.

      Idk if this helps you but for me putting dishes in the dishwasher right when you use them helps a lot! I never leave anything in my sink at all since I know I’ll forget about it and it’ll pile up.
      Also not buying new things unless it is to replace something else or it’s actually useful and needed. You don’t realize how much stuff you have till you have to clean it out! It also helps me mentally to have a more open space that ain’t so cluttered or disorganized.
      Idk if that helps anyone else but it helps me!

      Declutter as much as possible!!!! Get rid of all the sentimental stuff you have been saving.Much easier to clean a streamlined house with little clutter than trying to move stuff around and decide if its worth keeping. if you can't do it yourself, get someone to help you. Set a timer for 15 minutes if necesssary and get going for 15 minutes. It will all add up.

    • @morganbanwell4525
      @morganbanwell4525 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I’ll add on to Susan’s comment of decluttering!! Start going through everything. And I mean everything you don’t use or absolutely love looking at sentimentally right now and ask the important people in your life if they want any thing or if they are okay if you see or donate things. And start selling/ donating it now so they don’t have too!! ❤❤❤. Trust me. This A) helps you keep it tidy as wayyy less to clean and organize now. And B) when you do (a loooooonggg time from now) pass, it’s not a nightmare of a job for your loved ones ontop of having the emotional turmoil of dealing with your loss ❤❤❤❤. If that makes sense??? That’s literally the best advice I can give. I’m doing this right now, myself. It’s awful. 😂😂😂. Not going to sugar coat it. I’m a year and half in. And it’s horrid. We had a massive house full of kids and stuff. Andddd I likely have another 2 years of this. But I can see a light at the end of the tunnel!! And I know when I’m down to bare basics how LIGHT I will feel!! And I just CANT WAIT for that day!! And I do little sections at a time and take breaks and so on and so forth!! Good luck!! It’s emotional and a nightmare. But you got this!! 😂❤❤❤

    One of my favorite things in these vids is hearing the background behind the people who own the houses and connecting their history to how the mess built up. Like how this house is so different from hoarded houses. I love seeing little peaks into their interests and personality, despite how chaotic and troubled everything got for them
    Recently did a huge deep clean of my place, and it was fun to break down the psychology of my own messes lol

  • @kunya16

    The compassion you show is so refreshing to see. People judge messy houses and people so harshly. You explain the mental health aspect so well. I have depression and the harsh comments people can make about clutter and whatnot hurt deeply. It's so nice to see you come in and not judge or make fun of people. You just slap some miracles around and make the world a better place.

    I’ve said this in past comments, but I just want you to understand how much these videos mean to people. They give me motivation without judgement…it’s like a dad HELPING you clean and teaching you how to do it instead of just yelling at you get it done or making you feel shitty that it wasn’t already done. The end result is the same (a cleaner space) but the process and emotions while doing it are so different. So thank you for making videos about cleaning ACTUAL dirty spaces without being a judgmental jerk about it. You’re amazing and so helpful!!
