Nice video - good to hear you actually criticise GoPro. A lot of reviewers tend to stay on safe lines so as not to get taken off the list of reviewers who get free cameras.
The fact that you need a DJI mic too to make the audio better. Tells me that I'm happy that I got the DJI osmo action 5 Pro that you can connect two microphones with instead of one. You can also use one microphone to get one type of sound effect while you're using the other one for your voice or if your moto vlogging and you have two people you could have one-on-one person and one in another if you needed commentary. You can't do that with this camera. You need to rely on the onboard microphone. The audio is its biggest weakness along with the 8 bit colour
I didn't own the first Ace Pro 2, but I might have to consider getting this one. It has some impressive features and nice image quality. Great review Shawn, and thanks for sharing.
amazing video, very in depth and not super surface level review. Thank you! What FOV accessory would you recommend? Like in beginning of video saw ur chest mount which one is that? I noticed “the FOV clip” is sold out on site
Hiya Shaun, I really enjoyed this video and thank you for sharing and offering your insights. I currently own the Ace Pro 1 and gradually getting used to it, and I can see the many fantastic features on the Ace Pro 2, wow - what a step forward. I look forward to your follow-up videos for the Ace Pro 2, take care, be well.
Really cool that they added a built in wind screen! And recording two channels of audio with an external is nice too! My biggest issues with the ace pro was the weight, and a narrow FOV. Unfortunately I don’t think those two areas were improved enough for me to consider buying one. Awesome camera, just not the best option for me. Great video highlighting everything!
Do you have a video for the best settings in terms of quality ? Like picture profile, frame rate and smoothness ? Love the video and information really enjoyed the video
Super video, as always! Some great features on the camera. I love that you can continue recording onto an old clip! Unfortunately, it looks like the colour is still on the warm side. Dji's colours are more natural. Did they improve the sound from the connected bluetooth mic?.
You're absolutely right. There wasn't any big improvements on image quality. DJI had very similar issues until they got the firmware update and even then it wasn't a huge difference between one and the other, except for some of the bug fixes. One major thing is you need good audio as well as video if you're going to be doing any kind of vlogging or commentary and that's where DJI went
@@ramlinz5953 Even though it’s hard to sell later, people still prefer used GoPros and DJIs over Insta360 in the market. Everyone complains about GoPro, but they sell quickly, just like iPhones compared to other brands.

@@AirPhotography According to each of the companies web sites ace pro 2 use BLE 5.3 and Action Pro 5 uses BLE 5.1 and according to Bluetooth Specs 5.3 should support up to 20 devices, so why can’t we add 2 mics at the same time to the Ace Pro 2? Thank you for the great video I would like to know if I could use the 8k to record legacy videos of my 98-year-old aunt and my 95-year-old father? Would it be worth doing the 8k for future generations?
Realistically, how long can you really record at active HDR 4K 60 before battery dies or it overheats? 45 mins would be my guess, and if using an external power source, wondering if it'll overheat. These are questions that won't answered for weeks.
In my testing, I was able to record for one hour and nine minutes at 4K 60 with HDR enabled. Then it start recording because the battery was depleted. With the ace. 2 it will only allow you to record down to 5%. You can’t go any lower than that. Connected to an external power source it probably would’ve recorded longer. I’m not sure how long it would’ve recorded before it overheated.
I don’t know if it would replace it. They’re both excellent cameras and I think they have their pros and cons. I am working on a complete comparison of all three action cameras, and I’ll be talking about where each one excels.
How good is audio with DJI Mic2 compared to the Osmo 5 pro? Would really love to know that. And I hope this is compatible with the Preview Remote of Insta360.
Some of the accessories will work. I am gonna make a video in a couple weeks going over the compatible accessories. I usually do that for action cameras.
